Numbers - permanent column width

Hello,
I installed Numbers on my iPad.
Then I created a new table but the column width isn't the same. I know how to adjust it but I can't find an option to say "Column 2,3,4 and 5 = 2 cm; Column 1 and 6 = 1 cm".
Is there something I can type in how wide it should be? Or a permanent-option for selected columns?
Do you know what I mean?
Thank you very, very much for your help :)
Best,
Daniel

i dont think thats possible on iOS. What you can do is set a table up, blank. with the column sizes you want. Save that workbook as "Table Template" or some such name. Then whenever you want a new workbook with that table settings, make a duplicate and rename.
the table itself can be duplicated within the document to make as many exact copies as you want or need.

  • How to increase a column width in numbers

    Hello,
Is there a way to increase the column width of a numbers table by using a short cut.
In a few words is there any shortcut to increase or decrease the size of cells and columns?
    Something like command+?
    Regards,
    Jonathan M.

No key commands are available.  You can select the table then use the "Table Formatter":
These controls will apply to the items selected.  If you have one column highlighted then you can change the width of that one column.  If you select all columns then this control will apply to the selected columns.
you can also hover the cursor over the dividers between columns (the lines in the header... the lines between, for instance, the "A" and  the "B").  The cursor will change to a vertical bar with a horizontal line with left right arrows, then click and drag as needed.  Similar for rows.

  • Permanently Widen Finder View Column Width

I am familiar with the method to get a full/wider view of a Finder column when I'm there, but the column width goes back to its original width when the Finder is closed. Any way that anyone knows to set and maintain a wide column view after closing Finder?

It should remain at the size where you left it.
Maybe some fuzz in Finder prefs.
Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences folder and trash com.apple.finder.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You might have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • Numbers for iPad .Column width

I can adjust column width. Can I adjust column with of individual rows?

if you mean to change the size of individual cells to be different from those surrounding it, then no, they must be identical in size to the cells above and beside them, so they fit in the grid required for referencing them.
You can merge cells to make them appear larger than the cell above or below, they will be referenced in formulas as the equivalent top left hand cell of the original range of cells. But the outer limtis will still line up with columns limits at the top of the table.

  • Sap r/3 rel 4.6c - F-03 Process open Items; standard output; column width

    Hello All:
I use SAP R/3 Release 4.6C. I am learning how to use the F-03 Clear G/L Account function. On the front page of F-03 you enter the account number and then click process open items.
The output comes on the screen in the "standard" tab. In this tab you may start to clear your items.
My question: How do you change the width of these columns? I know you can change the column width by moving the column margin with the mouse. I want to know how to change the column width permanently - make the column a "fixed" width that will not change unless I change it.
    thx

First adjust all the columns as you prefer, then click on the table settings, configuration icon on the right top. Give a name in the variant and click save. Tick the check-box Use as standard setting.

  • How can I reduce the column width in a spreadsheet according to the text?

    Hi,
I added a spreadsheet to a pages document and now I want to reduce the column width so that it fits the content (text).
I tried it the other way around: I added very small columns and then chose the adjust-automatically-option in informations. This worked, the columns became broader and matched the text.
Now I got a lot of spreadsheets which columns are too broad. When choosing adjust-automatically just nothing happens. What can I do?
Sorry if this sounds a little weird, I'm using English seldom at time and don't know which words to choose to describe my problem properly. Hope someone can help me nevertheless?
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
In Pages, the table Autosize feature pertains to Row Height, not Column Width. Numbers has more Table sizing options than Pages does, so you might want to consider looking into doing your work in Numbers.
In Pages, there are slight differences in how tables behave depending on whether they are Inline or Floating. You might want to experiment with that. Long tables, however, must be Inline.

  • Change column width for print table to report

Hi, want to make the first column in my table to be printed to report wider than the rest, for it contains the part numbers of about 16 chars and the other columns are the data of 4 each. Don't want to make all equally wide for I want to fit as many column as possible over the page. How can I do this?? Thanks for any help. Is there maybe another way to print in a table format?? Madri

    Hi Madri,
Assuming you are using the Standard Report type with the Report Generation VIs, you can check out this KnowledgeBase entry that discusses how to customize the VI to generate a report with different column widths:

  • Is there a way to adjust the column width of only one cell

Using iWork '09: specifically Keynote '09 and want to adjust the column width of just one cell in the column, not the other cells in the whole column just this one individual cell. Have no idea how to do it though. Checked the manual and this discussion group as well as youtube and found nothing.

Perfectly normal, this feature is unavailable.
Keynote, Numbers and Pages use quite the same code to build tables which are in fact spreadsheets and this code doesn't offer this feature.
As you don't give many details, look at the merge cells feature.
Given your exact problem, it may be a soluce.

  • Applescript/Pages and adjusting column width (and paragraph style)

I was hoping that some someone might know how to adjust the width of individual columns in Pages using Applescript. It seems like it should be a simple task, and I can adjust the overall width/height of the table, but I haven't found a way to adjust the column width. Alternatively, I could have the program create the table in Numbers and copy/paste it into Pages, but I'd imagine that would get a bit messy and wouldn't allow me to use a hanging indent in the cells (to the best of my knowledge).
Also, is there a way to adjust the paragraph style used by the text in the table? Otherwise, I could just use a templet and define the the default table style appropriately. (Though not the most elegant solution).
Thanks in advance for your help!
(In case it helps, the script I'm working on parses an unformatted inventory and parses it into paragraphs/tables.)

    Try this:
    set tableCount to 0
--open file to be pased here, excluded for example
    tell application "Pages"
        activate
set theDoc to (make new document)
        tell theDoc
            --makes paragraph styles used
            make new paragraph style with properties {name:"Folio", font name:"Times New Roman", font size:12, bold:true, alignment:left, space after:5, keep with next paragraph:true, space before:15}
            make new paragraph style with properties {name:"Place", font name:"Times New Roman", font size:12, bold:false, alignment:left, line spacing type:relative, line spacing:100}
            make new paragraph style with properties {name:"Description", font name:"Times New Roman", font size:12, bold:false, italic:true, alignment:left, line spacing type:relative, line spacing:100}
            make new paragraph style with properties {name:"Table", font name:"Times New Roman", font size:12, alignment:left, left indent:0.5, first line indent:0.0}

I'm a new user, and just converted to Oracle 9 from Informix.
I am trying to create a (comma delimited) spool file, but the
column width for some of the numbers that I'm pulling in my
queries are very wide. For example, if my query is pulling
first, last, account#, and cust#, the spool output is as such:
    JOHN , SMITH ,
    10203 , 4987
I realize I can use 'COL name FOR an' to adjust the width of the
text columns, but how can I make the width of the number columns
only 5 or 6 digits wide?
    Help!

    Peter,
If you just want a comma separated value file without formatted columns and you want to eliminate all spaces, then just trim all your values and concatenate them together. See the example below.
