O.T.  Parcel Delivery Scam

This fraudulent activity has surfaced in South Wales, but these things have a habit of travelling !
With Christmas approaching be aware of a bogus parcel delivery company who put a card through your door claiming you were out when they called, and giving a telephone number to arrange re-delivery.
The tel. no. is a premium rate number, and the call costs you £15 / $30.

Jim.....
I think the main target of these low life individuals are the older generation who might not be so familiar with the premium rate codes.

Nothing appeared on the screen when she clicked. My concern is tracking software. Can that be downloaded to a Mac?

  • Parcel delivery via parceline do I need to be at ho

So my replacement MicroPhoto is on the way. It's being sent via Parceline. Do I need to be at home to receive it, because during the day I'm working in a different city and can't be in my place. I fear that they have already deli'vered it, and sent it back to the UK. This is what I see on the parceline tracking website:
Date Time Location No of Parcels Status
2 Dec 2006 02:5 Kolding International Hub - In Transit
09 Dec 2006 04:5 Birmingham Hub Sorted by offshore gateway

07 Dec 2006 7:9 Dublin Collected from Sender
07 Dec 2006 Dublin Collection request received
Some help would be greatly appreciated

The problem is that the numbers they give can only be called if you're living in the UK (0845, 0870 and 087 numbers). So basically, I no longer have my broken one which I could at least still use as memory stick (because as a good customer, I sent it back to Creative), and I'll never see my new one because there is no way of calling them? Correct? Is there somebody at Creative I can call or will they just tell me that it's not there fault but Parceline's fault?
Seriously, how can a deli'very company expect somebody to open the door at :4 in the morning... Seriously, who deli'vers parcels at that hour.....

  • Inbound delivery in R/3 system

    Hello all,
for the parcel delivery in R/3 system will be created Inbound delivery document and Confirmation (Goods receipt) will be created by requestor in EBP.
How is possible to see inbound delivery document in EBP in status of the shopping cart. For now I can see only Purchase Requisition, Purchase Order, Goods Receipt and Invoices.
    TIA
    Gordan

    Hi Ramki,
Im using classical stright forward scenario and Im working on R/3 core modules only.
My requirement is we will create PO and vendor sents a Acknowledgment. This acknowledgement we hve to enter in PO for ref. Based on the Delivery schedule, vendor sents a shipping notification 10 days before dispatch date of material along with some tracking number.
Based on this shipping notification tracking number we hve to create a inbound delivery or as soon as I enter the shipping notification number system has to create inbound delivery in back ground.
As soon as I receive the material, based on the shipping notification tracking number I like to create Goods Receipt or based on the inbound delivery i create Goods Receipt.
Now the problem is, I am able to enter Vendor acknowledgement and Shipping notification tracking number. But when go to change/display purchase order, Im not able to see the the vendor acknowledgement and Shipping notification/inbound delivery numbers in  change/display Purchase Orders. The table itself is empty.
But the data is updating in EKES table.
How to display the shipping notification data in ME22N/ME23N ?
Can I get your gmail id ?

  • Blocking UPS, USPS and FexEd scams where Envelope-Recipient and From don't match

How can I block UPS, USPS and FexEd delivery notice scams where the From: address is *@ups.com, *@usps.com, or *@fedex.com but the Envelope-From: is some bogus address that is NOT @ups.com, @usps.com or @fedex.com?
Legit messages will have both a From and Envelope-Recipient from the @ups.com, @usps.com or @fedex.com domains.
    Example:
    Envelope-from="[email protected]"
From: FedEx Express Services <[email protected]>

    Mike,
I ended up with two solutions.  One was to increase the size of messages I scan from 256k to 768k.  A lot of the delivery scams had very large zip attachments and were getting in because they were over 256k.
The  other thing I did was create a dictionary named "foil_delivery_notice_scams" and put the domain names ups.com, usps.com, fedex.com and delta.com in it.  I check the header for messages "From" containing those domains and a zip attachment.  I can't use envelope sender because they forge that - which is how they get around the SPF check.
A more effective way to do this would be to reject all messages with a From of those domains where the Envelope Sender is forged from a different domain.  I don't know how to write that without having a very nasty, spaghetti rule.
    Conditions
    Apply rule:
    Order Condition Rule Delete
    1
    Other Header
    header-dictionary-match("foil_delivery_notice_scams","From", 1)
    2
    Attachment File Info
    attachment-filetype == "Compressed"
    Actions
    Order Action Rule Delete
    1
    Send Copy (Bcc:)
bcc ("[email protected]", "[TAGGED DELIVERY SCAM] - $Subject")
    Final
    Drop (Final Action)
    drop()

  • Virus on UPS delivery service

Anyone have any knowledge of an email virus infecting the UPS parcel delivery service. Expecting a UPS parcel I received an email which I opened. When I checked with EPS I was warned not to open the email as it contained a virus. To late. The email came via my Yahoo email address. Anyone any ideas if this virus effects Macs, not sure what to do next if anything. If I have posted in the wrong forum please advise and I will repost.
    Mike

I will give you the boilerplate on this: There are no known viruses for Macs. If this is a virus, you would be the first. (There is malware, such as Trojans--those you have to be tricked into downloading and installing with your password--but no viruses.) This won't affect your Mac; if it is, indeed, a virus, it's meant for PC/Windows. The warning, if genuine, was meant for PC users.
If you don't want to pass this on to anyone with a PC, you can run ClamXav, which will detect and isolate it. But as for your Mac, 99.99999% certain you have nothing to worry about.
But make sure you check the oil level on the VW

  • What flash player software is good for use with the Apple Mini?

I get "flash player missing" warning on news sites when I go to available videos. What can I do? I have a 2015 Apple Mini iOS 10 with 500 GB hard disc

There are no active reference viri in the wild for any of the hard-sold antivirus
applications to remove from the Mac OS X. You can use ClamXAV from its
maker's site (no other, as some are bad copies loaded with adware or malware)
here:    http://www.clamxav.com/   that can help isolate and remove items that
you may get from someone's email who owns a windows PC, if you do not want
to forward those to some of your friends who use windows.
A larger concern may be adware and some kinds of malware, they are avoidable
but unless you are zealous about how you use your computer gear online, it may
be possible to get several items that can make using your Mac seem nightmarish.
Here are a few links to information that are best glossed-over before an issue so
you may have an idea what you may be up against when or if you do get adware
or some other malcontent from browsing corrupted web sites. Oh, also avoid the
torrent or bitorrent sites that offer file sharing or 'free downloads' that you later will
pay for one way or another. These can be tainted with badware that starts out in
a web browser, or perhaps if you get a bad copy from corrupted download online
of a known software but not from the maker's site (such as a copy of Flash, but
not from Adobe's own site) these can be a lot of work to undo their bad effects.

For Adobe Flash, which is not installed in OS X anymore, you could get it, or see
what else may be helpful to use to see video file content. I don't use it and feel
that if there is some great need to see a video (most are like trash) the better ones
now use HTML5 or some other technologies that just work in the browser w/o Flash.
If you need Flash be careful and keep the OS X updated and be sure to get Adobe
updates for their product. Some of their products are OK, but some are bloatware.
The links I posted on how to get the Adobe Flash (adobe help pages) are ones to
note. There are other items in their site which may or may not be helpful to you.

If your ordered Mini has at least 8GB RAM (it would be soldered in as part of the logic
board, and so not upgradable; unlike certain former builds that allowed user upgrade)
and if it has an Apple Fusion or SSD Drive, or a hard disk drive with 7200-RPM spin
rate, then it would like be quick enough going forward a few years. More random access
memory (RAM) is separate from drive storage or system hard drive capacity; these do
different things. A computer may temporarily use storage capacity as virtual RAM, but
it would be limited by hard drive data rate speeds, that are much slower than chip RAM.
A Fusion or hybrid, or SSD (solid state drive) can speed up the system since the files
that would end up being written to that drive and then read as temporary RAM, would
be moved in faster speed, so your computer function would be noticably faster. A stock
Mac Mini with hard disk drive generally has a slower 5400-RPM rotational hard drive.
This is slower than a Fusion hybrid and much slower than an SSD. The latter is more
costly than the other choices. A fair option if it exists, is a 7200-RPM hard drive, of up
to 1TB capacity, if available as a built-to-order option from Apple when ordered direct.
(An authorized Apple service provider could upgrade the storage drives with suitable
product replacement, and not void the AppleCare warranty; an upgrade at that point
may or may not be covered under an extended (optional) AppleCare plan.
If you ordered your Apple Mini mac from online Apple Store, you have certain time
limits to return it; and depending on which country or region you live in, the rules may
be different. In the US, you have 14 days from when you get it, to change your mind
and notify Apple. If you do not notify Apple (they will authorize a return before you can
ship it back or before you could return it to an official Apple Store in person) the time
limit goes away and you then are the owner of the item. So you do have a limit if you
bought from Apple directly, online or from the official Apple Store. If you do return an
item to Apple you bought direct from them, you could call on the 13th day, providing the
day you call to start the return process is a business day & not weekend or holiday, and
that may allow you a few more days to physically return the computer to them. If you
were to return to the Apple Store online (via fedex or acceptable parcel delivery with
tracking) be sure to check to see exactly when you would need to get it back to Apple.
{If bought direct from Apple & not an authorized independent reseller, be sure to ask
    Apple sales when or if you have any issue; returns or pre-arrival, they can be helpful.}
And if you are not in the US or Canada, there still may be 14 days return, if bought via
the official Apple Store (retail location) or from the online Apple Store. This isn't available
through authorized resellers who set their own sales return policies as independent agents.
Anyway, hopefully your new Mini has sufficient upgrade to work well with Yosemite and
whatever applications you may need to load into it; some can be top-heavy in demand
of resources. That's why one has to consider the purpose prior to buying a configuration.
    Hopefully this helps you somewhat.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • New laptop smell

I just opened my new thinkpad T430 and was met by a strong smell.
It doesn't smell good, and it smells just like horses smell. Or rather what comes out of them.
I had to distance myself from the laptop and started unpacking some accessories, and they smell more or less the same, not as strong, but still the same smell.
It is a bit disappointing and it feels like i just got a product which was made in a stable and it currently prevents me from using it.
It would be helpful to avoid this smell with future products, and any advice on how to reduce it in my laptop is very welcome.
Otherwise, I'm very happy with my laptop.

That is most unusual.  Is it possible that the parcel delivery service used a vehicle that hauled bags of fertilizer?
The good news is that it should disappear in time.  Speaking from experience as a horseman, when one works in a stable, one no longer notices the smell of manure.

  • ADSL Filter Problems

    Hi!
New to BT Broadband and not very technically minded.   We have recently swopped from orange to BT as we were getting slow connections speeds and my sons live box 'lagged'.  We have one BT Master socket (no extensions) and I need to plug in three items - BT Home hub(small plug), normal home phone (normal plug) and a device my husband uses for work (small plug).  We call it a hand held (its a bit like the one the parcel delivery drivers use, which he has to connect everynight to upload his figures for work etc and I presume has an internal modem).  So, I have fitted a standard double adapter into the master socket.  Fitted a new filter into one and connected the home hub and home phone to that.  Attached another filter and connected the hand held device to this.  Now the hand held device can't get a dial tone.  I tried several different ways to connect and have done a speed test in between.  As set up above - I get a download speed achieved in test of 4304kbps and with the filters altered so that the hand held device can connect, I get 600kbps.  The maximum I've been told my line can support is 5.5megs, so neither speed is very good really and it seems that how I have the handheld connected is the main culprit on the slow speed.
We get no interferrance on the home phone.
Firstly, can someone tell me if I have this connected wrong?  Or is there an adapter that I can plug 3 devices into one being a normal home phone and two small plugs (preferably with a filter incorporated)
Our master socket is positioned high up above the kitchen cupboards so its not like we can just plug in and unplug the handheld everyday without climbing up on top of the kitchen units. (Don't ask why its up there!)

Sorry you lost me on data throughput..... I did say I wasn't very technically minded!
Unfortunately, after setting the devices up as described below our phone has no dial tone now.  It may be the adapter so I will swop for another one before breaking down into tears.
We were with orange for years (originally wanadoo) and didn't receive any hard sell at all!  In fact I would say we were left to fester.  I did contact them lots of times and was sent emails on all things I should try at home first ie changing the filters, changing the channel, turning off all other applications on the computer - I've been through the lot!!
The chances of my husbands IT firm understanding what a usb adapter is let alone what 'osme' software is highly unlikely.  We were going to go over to Virgin and he rang to check the hand held device was compatible.  He was told not to bother as it didn't work properly on Virgin!
Would go through the process of unplugging everything else so he can T-com but it takes a little bit longer than a few minutes and the rest of the family are usually using the broadband connection for the internet and gaming at that time.  Besides as I have said before the master socket is above a kitchen cupboard high up on a wall!!
As I asked previously, if we were told the line was capable of speeds of upto 5.5 megs.  What sort of figures should the speed test report to indicate that this is what we get?
I have read a few of the other messages about slow speeds ie utube being literally impossible to watch and iplayer pausing every few minutes instead of playing continuously and thats what we get consistently.

  • How to track my iPhone 5? (UK)

I know it's only 3 days left till the release but I'm restless (as everyone is I'm sure).
Apple says that my order is 'Preparing for shipment' but I heard that people could track their orders through UPS. I tried it, but it didn't work, probably because I live in UK.
Is there any other way for me to track it?

Finally was able to get tracking through the Sycnreon Parcel Delivery (that's the courier that is being used for me).
They wanted 2 numbers, first is the Order No/Delivery (that is the tracking number), and second is the Web order (that is your PO number, the one you get in the purchase confirmation letter).
it says that my item is currently in Hinckley (that's 140 miles from my house) and it registered today in the morning for 'Shipment Pickup, Normal Status'.
Guess ill be getting it tomorrow after all

  • How to find the place of manufacture?

How to find the place of manufacture?

For your own information, you could try & check with one of the online identify-by-serial-number
services; no telling what they may use any information (of yours) they may get from an inquiry...
    I'd used this one a few times and with a Serial number, it does show a place of manufacture;
but with only a Model number, it does not say much about when or where it was made... in
fact the model number goes to an older model, too; what I see w/ Model number is not Retina.
•Identify your Mac - Lookup your unit by Apple Serial number, or Model Number:
    https://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
    According to http://MacTracker.ca database, a MacBook Pro, Retina, 15-inch, Mid-2014, has a
has a Model number of A1398 and EMC 2876 and had one of three different processors.
Not sure if this helps, but assembled in China is usual information on many of those. Some
versions with added parts or 'custom built orders' may have a different point of final assembly.
And if you receive the computer via a parcel delivery company, sometimes their web site or
tracking information on your specific order will show the path it took to get from you. If the
item was stocked in a region nearer you than the point of manufacture, or a main warehouse
the item could have been shipped from another location where they had additional inventory.
Hopefully you can find the details you need.

Looking to add this SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148613 to my W520. Any body with experience and recommendations?

I've just bought this mSata SSD for my brand new W530

This SSD should work perfectly on your W520.

  • Z68A-GD80 (GEN 3) possible bad board?

I just purchased some parts for a new build.
    The new parts are:
    2500k
    Msi z68a-gd80 gen 3
    sapphire 7970
    Samsung 830 (256gig.)
    g.skill ripjaws (2 x 8 gig.)
    win7 pro
The power supply is working ok.( pc power 750 silencer.)
The problem is the 7970 isn't detected in the first two pcie gen 2/3 slots, none of my graphics cards are.
    I've tried a known working 8800gt as well as a 7200 gs.
There's no video output from any of the cards either, monitor remains off.
I've tried every bios option I could think of for the integrated graphics, cleared the bios multiple times, but no card is recognized.
when I try to install the amd drivers the wizard reports warnings, but state a successful installation.
Upon reboot, win7 tries to repair "problems" unsuccessfully.
I have gotten video output from the 8800gt in the bottom pcie slot, but upon reboot I receive the same error as above and a failed repair.
Maybe I've been luck, very lucky. I've never receive a nonworking computer part before.
Is this a problem with the MB or something else?
I can't test the 7970 in another system as I've had two working systems fail on me this past weekend after moving them from one case to another.
I'm new to win7 as well as these parts, am I missing something obvious?

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  You have no idea what is going on and already talk about bad first impressions.
Even you have a damaged mainboard (which you do not even know at this point), the simple solution would be: RMA.  You'll get a replacement board and get it over with.  It happens that boards are defective (who know what parcel delivery guy dropped the package or threw in some wagon).
Your statement does not make any rational sense.  That must be your frustration talking.  Get that out of your system, it won't help you one bit with your problem.
    >>This is exactly why I came to this forum, I didn't know if I'm overlooking something simple as win7 is also new to me.
I didn't want to jump on the rma bandwagon without getting some help first.
You're also correct that, if the mb is bad it doesn't could have been damaged it shipping.
Unless you have a way to test the CPU in another board, or another CPU on your's, I would either recommend to ask in a computer shop for help with troubleshooting or RMA both CPU and mainboard and see which one comes back as "okay".
    >>I'll call some local places to see if they can test the mb and cpu tomorrow. Iam working nights a the moment.
    Another thought, though:
Underlying memory problems can actually cause the system to think the BIOS/UEFI is corrupted.
Do you have other memory modules for testing (some standard 1 or 2 GB stick perhaps)?
    >>I only have the installed kit.
If there's anymore info I can provide for you it'll be in the morning.
    Thanks.
