OB08 Exchange Rate Maintainance

Dear Viewers,
I would like to get the clarification on Exchange Rate Maintainance. Can we maintain the exchange rate in production directly on daily basis or do we need to move the exchage rate by request  in development .
Thanks
Aswin

Hi
Regarding Authorization as a Functional Guy we wont do any settings. This is done by Basis Guy in SU01.
Every user will be assigned Roles and in Roles assigned are Authorization Objects.
You tell this requirement to your Basis Consultant, he will be aware of Authorization Objects of the Tcodes OBBS and OB08 and he will assign the relevant so that you will be able to access.

  • Fixed exchange rate in PO vs the exchange rate maintained in OB08

    Dear experts,
When I input a PO in ME21N, I noticed that there is a field letting me to input exchange rate.
And I also know that the exchange rate the system automatically picks is from what we have maintained in OB08.
Can I understand that if we have no value input in ME21N, then the systems picks the exchange rate we setup in OB08 when we post invoice in MIRO?

Let me take an example to check if my understanding is correct.
In a German comapny, one PO is created in USD.
The exchange rate from USD to EUR is already maintained in OB08. I did not tick the fix indicator (not matter I input any rate in PO). The system will pick the rate from OB08 in MIGO and invoice posting, right?
Another scenario, I input the specific exchange rate in PO, and tick the fix indicator. The system will pick the rate from PO for MIGO and invoice posting, right?
Is there any chance we can input differenct exchange rate in GR or invoice from the one we used in PO?

  • Exchange rate maintainance as per company code or ledger in OB08

    Hello,
Is it possible to maintain exchange rate as per company code or ledger in exchange rate table.
If not, please suggest any other alternative where I can maintain exchange rate as per company code or ledger.
    Regards,
    Tapan

In table T882, you can see ledger and company code assignment; with currency keys and additional currency types used for company code/ledger. You have option to choose the currencies at ledger and company code level, but not the currency type. Exchange rate type 'M' is used and even hard coded in many programs/transactions for actual postings. In planning, to some extent you have the option to choose exchange rate type, default is 'P'.

    Hi,
You need not worry about the OB08 entry for rate type EURO, it is needed by the system to determine the euro conversion.  You will continue to update the other rate types like M, B, G with the EUR/SKK rate till 31.12.2008.  Once you are on 01.01.2009, the currency of your country/company code will become EUR and you will not need to use any rate to convert to EUR.
BW will have no issues here, as it would also be using the rate type M, G, B etc for conversion till 31.12.2008.  You will need to carry out the changeover steps in BI also.
    Cheers.

  • Exchange rate maintainance-Suggestion please

    Hi,
I have a following scenario regarding the exchange rates.
I have following currencies maintained in my system
    Global Currency-USD
    Group Currency-SAR
Company Code Currency-As per the country(for example AED for UAE)
I have maintained following exchange rates
    AED-->SAR
    AED-->USD   and vice versa
We have maintained similarly for all the participant countries currencies with SAR & USD
We have also maintained all the other currencies,(like vendor currencies) with the respective company code currencies currencies .
For example if a vendor currency is JPY and I am making payment in country UAE with it's currency as AED then we have maintained JPY--> AED & vice versa.
However, system asks us to maintained rates for
    JPY-->USD
    JPY-->SAR
This becomes too much of a work as everytime when new currency comes in to system for any new vendor then we have to maintaine this currency not only with the company code currency but also with USD & SAR.
If the rates are to be maintained everyday then it will become a very hugh & complex task.
I am not sure whether this is the way it has to be maintained or is there any other way that can help us.
Like if we want to maintain CHF(vendor currency) in UAE I will simply maintain that but I should not be propted for maintaining CHF with SAR & USD.
Can system automatically pick up from AED(or for that matter any company code currency)>USD or AED>SAR ?
Please suggest as soon as possible.
    Best Regards,
    BM

    Hi,
thx for the feedback. However, I could not get any much information from that as it talks about 3 currencies only.
Can anyone please suggest me & help me out in this ?
    Best Regards,

  • Currency Exchange Rate Maintainance in BCS

    Dear Experts,
I need a clarification, WHile maintaining Exchange Rate in BCS,
    1) how the Exchnage Rate values reflects in R3
    2) Vise versa While maintaining Exchange Rate in R3 how it reflects in BCS.
    a) Is there any BCS or any machanism needs to be followed?
    b) What are the different ways to handle this?
    Regards
    RItesh M

    1) how the Exchnage Rate values reflects in R3
    - Madhu answer is correct.
    2) Vise versa While maintaining Exchange Rate in R3 how it reflects in BCS.
    - The same table is used for dealing woth C/T in BCS and BW - they share the same table.
Tables for C/T, though, have the same names in R/3 and BW/BCS, belong to different instances and do not communicate. In BW, though, you may copy global settings from another source systems (including R/3).
    a) Is there any BCS or any machanism needs to be followed?
    - not clear what is meant. Set uo the C/T funcrionality in BCS.
    b) What are the different ways to handle this?
    - Should be used the standard currency rates functionality (the same tables).
But the load to these tables might be:
    1. manual
    2. from source systems (copy as described above).
    3. load from a file.

  • OB08 currency exchange rates actually used in system

    Hello All,
We are currently in the process of evaluating vendors for a daily FX rate upload.  During the vendor evaluation process, we realized that upwards of 650 cross rates are entered into the system on a monthly basis and the team uploading the rates are not sure all are being used.  Since the daily FX upload is priced per exchange rate that is passed we'd like to make sure all of the current exchange rates maintained in OB08 are actually being used in the system.  Does anyone have ideas on how to obtain what currency exchange rates are actually used.  We're hoping to reduce our number of cross rates passed in the daily feed by elimating the exchange rates that are not used but I'm not sure how to find that out.  Thanks in advance for the help.
    Cheers,
    Jordan

You could download all entries in table BKPF and derive unique values in currency key (WAERS).  Those are the foreign currencies that you are using in your system.  You need exchange rates between those currencies and your local currency/group currency and also between your local currency and group currency.

  • Message no. SG028 Ambiguous... exchange rate relation

    Hi Friends,
I have a free of charge order. While doing the Post Goods Issue step, I am getting the following error message
    Ambiguous EUR/USD exchange rate relations
    Message no. SG028
I have searched in the forum and made sure that in transaction OB08 Exchange Rate EUR/US and USD/EUR (Exchange Rate Type M) has maintained properly in the system.
I have also made sure that the entries are properly maintained in SPRO - General Settings - Currencies - Define Translation Ratios for Currency Translation.
But still the error is coming, I saw in one thread, some one has reported the same problem even after maintaining the exchange rates in OB08, but no solution was suggested as far as I check. could anyone please give some inputs why the same error coming even though the exchange rates are maintained and how to fix this issue as I stuck in Post Goods Issue step
    Thank you

    Hi Christian,
    Thanks for your time.
I've found the below entries in OBBS
    M   USD    EUR     01.01.1900        100 : 1
    M   EUR    USD     01.01.1900         1    : 100
Alternative currency is blank in both entries
In OB07 for exchange rate Type M all the fields (Ref. currency, Buy and Sell rate) and the check boxes are blank. it is still unclear for me being a logistics guy
While doing Post Goods Issue in other scenario I didnt have any error where currency GBP EUR invovled. In this case the OBBS entries EUR/GBP as below
    M   GBP    EUR     01.01.2000        1 : 1
    M   EUR    GBP     01.01.2000        1 : 1
Alaternative currency is blank in this case as well.
Does the valid from date or the ratio make any difference?
I could not clarify with my FI consultant as he is on vacation. Could you please let me know how to fix it.
    Thank you

  • System is taking Exchange Rate Value from PO at the time of MIRO

    HI GURUS,
The problem is that the system is taking the value of exchange rate from PO when we are doing MIRO. We do not tick the field -fixed rate -in PO but still the system is taking the value of exchange rate from PO and not from the exchange rate maintained in OB08. In PO ,the value of exchange is rate is coming from the data maintained in OB08 but it becomes outdated by the time of MIRO. Please help.
    Regards,
    Mukesh

    Hi Mukesh,
Please check mentioned conditions according SAP Note 128
Exchange rate differences between goods receipt and invoice receipt are posted under the following preconditions:
The invoice is posted in the same (foreign) currency as the purchase order.
The exchange rate in the purchase order is not fixed.
As a basic rule, an exchange rate difference is only posted as substitute for a price difference, that is, only in the case of stock material (standard price with variance or moving average price with stock shortage/undercoverage). The exchange rate difference results from the following calculation schema:
GR value in foreign currency at GR exchange rate
GR value in foreign currency at IR exchange rate
In the process, the quantity situation is of course taken into account. For example, in the case of IR before GR no exchange rate difference is posted, and in the case of "partial" invoices a proportional exchange rate difference is posted.
For cancelled invoices/credit memos, the following applies:
All invoices/credit memos/subsequent debits must be posted in the same (foreign) currency. (However, not necessarily in the PO currency). The exchange rate difference results from the following calculation schema:
Previous IR value in local currency at average exchange rate of previous invoices/credit memos/subsequent debits
IR value in local currency at exchange rate of present credit memo (in relation to the total quantity invoiced)
Here, too, an exchange rate difference is only posted as substitute for a price difference.
For delivery costs, exchange rate differences are posted to the stock account as long as stock coverage exists. No price difference lines are generated.
During the goods receipt no currency check is carried out and therefore, only the local currency is updated in the invoice.
    Regards
    Mani

  • Exchange Rate difference posting during MIRO posting

    Hi ,
We are facing an issue for exchange rate difference posting during MIRO.
PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date. Vendor in PO has different currency than company code currency. Exchange rate maintained in OB08 for this period is taken in PO.
PO value & GR value is same. Due to raw material cost there was price difference posted during GR posting.
(i.e. Raw material cost - GR/IR value = Price difference amount)
During posting MIGO, 3 accounts got posted.
Raw material cost account got debited & offset credit to GR/IR account & price difference account (in vendor & company code currency also)
During posting MIRO, 4 accounts got posted.
Vendor account got credited with GR/IR amount & offset to GR/IR account debit.
Exchange rate difference account got credited & offset to price difference account (in company code currency only)
Since PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date, then why system has posted exchange rate difference account in local currency only during MIRO posting ?
    Your inputs appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
there is a setting in configuration of logistics invoice verification where you can control the calculation and posting of exchange rate differences. If you had the setting active that exchange rate differences are calculated against a planned exchange rate, that might lead to the kind of postings you describe. Please check.
    best regards,   Udo

  • Exchange Rate Mismatch in Credit Memo CO-PA Document

    Hi,
Exchange Rate in Sales Invoice is 23.081211 (from Tcode Ob08)
Exchange Rate in Credit Memo is 23.0812 (maintained manaully)
But Co-PA document is calculated according to the Exchange Rate as 23.081211
Please let me know why Co-Pa Document is calculated according to Sales Invoice Exchange Rate and not Credit Memo Exchange Rate.
    Regards,
    Debashri Dutta

    Hi,
Checked. Its according to the Cancelled Sales Invoice. But CO-PA Document Calculation is according to the Sales Invoice.

So check in OB08 which gives the overview of Currency Exchange Rates for each month.Check what is the exchange rate maintained for the months u r looking into.
Else ask the users what exchange rates they maintained for those months and upload the exchange rates for those months.
Here is the link which will explain how to load the exhange rates.

  • Exchange rate message in PO

    Dear experts,
I receive a warning message "exchange rate deviates by 7%" when changing the exchange rate during PO creation.
I would like to change it to an error message.
In " IMG > MM > Purchasing > Environment data > Define attributes of system messages", I have set the message to 'E' for
    version : 00
    application area: 06
    No : 208
I have also added 'MSV' =  00 in the parameter id of the user master but the message is still a warning. What shall I do next?

    Hello
Are you trying to say that exchange rate defaulted during Purchase order creation is different from exchange rate maintained in OB08 t code?
I'm facing the same problem but i do not want to convert Message No. 06208 from warning to error.
Are you able to find the source from where the rate has been defaulted in your Purchase Order? If yes, kindly let me know about it.
Maximum exchange rate difference defined has been defined through OB64 t code.
    Thanks.
