Officejet 8620

I am having an issue with scanning in color.
If I place my documents directly on the scanner and then say save as pdf to computer or save as jpeg to computer directly on the printer, the scanner scans only in black and white and puts it on my computer.
Only if I open up the scanner dialogue on my computer and then hit scan on my computer can I get the scan to be in color.
How can I set up the scanner so that when I place a color document onto the scanner and hit scan on the scanner, the scan will be in color ?
Thank you,
GG

Hi,
By your issue description I assume you have a Mac computer? otherwise please clarify your operating system.
The default scan workflow configured to scan documents as Black and White. Make sure to change the scan settings to scan documents with color:
1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
3. Click the Scan Tasks tab.
4. Select the affected shortcut and click on Edit... (or just double-click the shortcut).
5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle or the Show Details button to enlarge the menu.
6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Mode
7. Now select the Color option and then click on OK to save the changes. The next scanned document using this workflow will appear in color.

  • Officejet 8620 don't print on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I purchased a Officejet 8620 to replace an Officejet 8600 PRO irreparably damaged by lightning.
The printer is connected via wired ethernet.
I installed the software on the CD on a HP laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate and the printer, scanner and fax machine worked perfectly.
I repeated the installation on a PC laptop with Windows 8.1, the installation was successful, but only the fax and scanner worked, the printer does not print even the test page.
I disabled firewall and antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security 14) and repeated several times to install but always with the same result.
I performed "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that does not detect any problems.
I also run "sfc / scannow" but to no avail.
    My user type is Administrator.
Only if I access the printer properties in as "Administrator" I can get print a test page.
I added my user to the list of authorized users all'utlizzo printer, but without success.
I downloaded from the HP website the latest versions of drivers and firmware, but the print does not work.
At the same PC and 'also connected a printer, on the same Ethernet network, HP LaserJet CP1515n with driver
"HP Universal Printing PCL 6" that works perfectly.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks.

  • Problem with HP Officejet 8620 (just bought it) not sure if Printer or wireless issue.

Alright so hopefully I have put this in the right forum.
I just bought an HP Officejet 8620, and set it up. It printed the test pages fine yet upon trying to print homework it would dissapear in the Print Queue while saying it was "printing". Thus nothing has come out of the printer except test pages so I am in a bit of a bind.
Now the computer brought up a trouble shoot issue stating "problem with wireless network".
To give some back ground on this issue our previous printer HP Officejet 6500A about a month ago starting printing abnormally slow, and eventually reached a crawl not doing anything.
So im not totally lost, yet as of now do not know what is going on.

    Hello Libertine74,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some connectivity issues when attempting to print wireless.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with when the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions or concerns.

  • Wired and Wireless Connections to OfficeJet 8620?

We have a small wired Ethernet network.  We are planning to install an HP OfficeJet 8620 multi-function printer tomorrow.  I understand that for a wired-only Ethernet network, I would just connect the OfficeJet to our router, then install the drivers on each workstation.
Unfortunately, our situation is more complicated than that.  Several people want to use wireless devices to print to the OfficeJet 8620.  We have a working wireless network in place, and the wireless devices are able to access it without problem..
All devices on the network (wired and wireless) use the same router, which has both wired Ethernet ports and wireless capability.  So, everything is on the same network, going through the same router.
From reading the 8620 documentation, it looks like you can only have a wired OR a wireless connection, but not both.  Apparently connecting a CAT-5 cable to the Ethernet port on the printer disables the wireless capability of the printer.
If that is correct, what can we do to enable both wired computers and wireless mobile devices to print to the 8620, given the network structure I have described above?
Thanks very much for any assistance you can offer.

  • Officejet 8620 wireless installation issue

Hi, a few weeks ago i brough an officejet 8620 and have been able to use it over usb just fine. I have since installed wifi and wish to use the printer over the wireless network; however the print will not install. The driver package finds the printer correctly but wont install it:  I have tried disabling windows firewall and AV software to no avail. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstaling the software (including restarting winsocks)

PLEASE DELETE - forgot I already posted about this issue: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/HP-8620-AiO-Connected-to-WiFi-but-cannot-print/m-p/5017651

  • FAX Setup for Officejet 8620 -- Auto Answer & Cord "Fail"

I have encountered two issues after setting up my new Officejet 8620.
I have followed instructions for connecting the printer, using the phone cord provided by HP.  Repeated tests insist "FAIL" for "Using Correct Type of Phone Cord with Fax." I have tried hard reset a couple of times with no change in test result.
The fax is working: I can send and receive faxes, but why the "FAIL"? I see from other forum messages that this is a common issue.
Second issue is that the Auto Answer is set to "ON," but the fax doesn't answer incoming calls. I get the message on the display screen giving me the options to "Ignore" or "Accept", and pushing "Accept" does result in the fax coming through, but I need the machine's "Auto Answer" function to work. The 8620 is not connected to an answering machine. It's connected directly to the phone wall jack. Also,I have disabled voicemail service on that phone line, so there shouldn't be anything interfering with Auto Answer.
I would be grateful for help resolving these problems.

Hello @hpuser24333, Welcome to the forums
I read your post about the concerns and issues you're running into with your Officejert 8620, and I wanted to reach out to share my suggestions with you.
I would recommend a factory reset on the printer, and to run through the fax set up again. I am hoping you won't run into the same problems again however, if you do, please give us a call.
On the printer, select the Setup Menu, Tools, Restore Factory Defaults, Yes, restart the printer.
When the power is back on select Setup, Fax Setup, Fax Setup Wizard, Yes, continue through the setup.
    I really hope this helps!

  • Officejet 8620 Web Services Could Not Be Enabled

I can get my Officejet 8620 to connect to the network but it can't connect to the Internet.  When I hit the apps button it says "Web Services Could Not Be Enabled".   I'm using a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router.  I can find no helpful HP documentation that tells you how to get around this issue other than to wait and try again later if you can't connect.  It's been days that I've been trying so I don't think more time is the solution.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks.

    Hello MAIAston,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
A common fix for the error "Web Services Could Not Be Enabled" is to apply a Manual I.P and DNS on the 8620. To apply this to the printer you will first need to print and Network Configuration Page from the printer (Wireless icon>Settings).
Type the I.P address into the Address bar of a web browser and press enter. Click Network>Wireless (802.11)> IPv4 Configuration. Click Manual IP> Suggest a New Manual IP Address. Change the DNS to 209.244.0.3 & 209.244.0.4.
Apply the settings, restart the printer and try again.
Let me know if this worked.

  • Trouble with Windows 8.1 and hp officejet 8620

Hi, we've installed a brand new hp Officejet Pro 8620.
We've installed the full software package on a Windows 8.1 machine.
It all seemed to be fine, but suddenly our machine is not capable of print on certain circumstances:
    - It can't print from:
    a) Notepad: "incorrect parameter" error message
    b) Office: Word, Excel, etc...    no error, but it simply does not print
    c) Adobe Acrobat: no error, but it simply does not print
    d) Test print from printer configuration: error
    but it CAN print from:
    a) hp printer assistant, hp print scan and doctor (hp software)
    b) hp AiO printer remote (it's a Metro app), only pdfs
    c) Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, etc...
We've tried to reinstall the whole package with no success. It seems that's something's wrong with the driver and desktop applications, any ideas? Anyone with similar problem?
    Best,

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Finally we've used the proposed solution on:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Is-Windows-8-1-and-HP-8620-compatible/t...
The trick is drivers for 8600 must be downloaded and installed before the change. 8600 drivers included with 8.1 don't work.
We'll wait for new 8620 drivers that could fix this problem. Meanwhile, we can print with 8600 drivers, and scan with 8620 drivers.
    Best,
    JM

  • Officejet 8620, fail to print, windows 8.1 (upgraded from windows 8)

I have spent many hours trying to resolve an issue on a Dell Vostro laptop, that was upgraded from Windows 8 pro to Windows 8.1 pro and has the latest updates installed. When printing, the print is delivered to the print spooler, it is there momentarily, then disappears. Nothing is delivered to the printer, and no activity is observed at all on the printer. This is on 2 different 8620 printers. I am able to install and print to a laserjet M1217mfp from the laptop with no problems. A different machine that was loaded directly with windows 8.1 prints perfectly to the 8620 printers.
I have tried the following  with no success:
    1) Install from original HP 8620 installation CD
    2) HP Print and scan doctor - remove the print driver and download latest software . ( 3 times)
    3) Manually deleting all printers, Stop spooler service, delete print driver from Print Server Properties, uninstall all HP software, reboot and install from latest print driver OJ8620-198 downloaded from this link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL51217/bi-124140-4/OJ8620_198.exe
    4) Same procedure as step 3, including stop spooler, rename C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 to C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3.old. Reboot and install from latest driver as above.
    5) Run level 4 on HP Officejet Software and Driver Removal Utility from the link below and reinstall : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=za&lc=en&softwareitem=mp-110134-1
    6) Same procedure as step 4, as well as removing printer registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Print Processors except "winprint" key. Delete all HP folders in C:\Program Files\HP. Reboot and reinstall latest driver.
    7) Follow the manual procedure described in Microsoft KB2987964 "Cannot print by using a Hewlett Packard XPS-based print driver after you install KB2769165" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2987964 Version of hpbxpsrender.dll is 0.3.7600.16385 consistently through all of the steps listed.
    9) Create a new local administrator account on the laptop. Follow the procedure in Step 6.
The issue seems to be that the spooler discards the print immediately and it also seems to be related to the upgrade from windows 8 to Windows 8.1 but only for Officejet Printers. The only option I have not tried yet is to format and reload the machine with Windows 8.1 Pro, but this is a drastic step to resolve a problem that should be resolved by HP based on the many reports posted on the Internet by users experiencing this issue on OfficeJet printers.
What can be done to resolve this?

    Hi @Electronza ,
Thank you for providing all the detailed steps you have already tried to resolve this issue. I would like to help you out today.
I have provided a document with some steps for the Print Jobs Disappear from the Print Queue and Do Not Print (Windows 8). Go to Step 4: Rename the HPBXPSRENDER.DLL file, since you have already tried the other steps.
Please take a look at this document from my co-worker, if the issue persists. The driver installed might be the Class Driver and not the HP Full Feature drivers. Missing or partial print issues on Windows 8 / 8.1.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

  • Officejet 8620 Only Scanning in Black & White

It looks like this question has been aked before but the solutions offered don't work.
If I scan using my Mac software (import from preview) I can scan in colour or B&W but if I use Scan to Computer directly from the scanner it will only scan in B&W.  I am savig to PDF and experiencing the problem on both my iMac and Macbook.  There are no options, that I can find, that allow a colour preference to be set.
    Anyone got any ideas?

HI @Ray2304 , Welcome to the Community!
What comes to mind when I read through your post about not being able to scan from the printer to computer in color, would be either the AirPrint driver is selected, or perhaps the Full Feature version of the software isn't installed. I very well could be incorrect however, I have some steps that should iron it out for you.
Try these steps in order please:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Click here and download the Full Feature driver and install it: HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers
In addition, download this Apple driver: HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X
Try a scan afterwards and it should work!

  • HP OfficeJet 8620 Scan Options Disappeared

I ran the scan doctor program on my scanner. When I reopened my scanner dialog through the print menu all of my options for scanning are gone.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled my printer twice and it has not corrected this issue. I have also restarted both my printer and computer.

Hi there @vks84 , Welcome to the HP Community
I read through your post about how when you were done running the Print and Scan Doctor,
the scanning options were missing from the software. The type of driver is the first thing to come to my mind when I see this.
Could you check your Devices and Printers on your computer and let me know if you have the Class Driver installed or "8620 Driver" or something similar to that?
Check this post for screen shot examples of checking in the Devices and Printers folder: officejet Pro e All-In-One x64 print driver for Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit)
Also, when you uninstalled the printer, did you completely restart your PC before you reinstalled? Where exactly did you run the installation from (disk, or download), and which driver did you install (post me a link if you downloaded it).

  • Hp officejet 8620

Hello, I purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8620 and have been unable to automatically receive faxes . When a fax is trying to come in I receive a message asking me to accept the call or ignore.  I have used the fax set up wizard several times changing the amount of rings, auto answer on and off and still no luck. I have an answering machine set to auto answer.  I used to own the hp 8600 and the faxes used to just connect without any problem and without asking me to accept the call. I recieve faxes day and night for my business so this is a huge problem for me. Hope someone can help me please!

Evening ,  I see you need some help with your Officejet Pro 8620 not receiving your faxes automatically.
You have mentioned you have tried changing your fax settings, there are 3 settings the can cause the issue you are experiencing; You want to make sure the Auto Answer is ONRings to Answer - this depends on if this line is shared (with phone, answering machine, ect.. )
    - if this is a dedicated line for faxing I would set this to 2 RingsDistinctive Ring - if it is a shared phone line do you have different Ring Patterns?
Again, if this line is only used for faxing you want to set this All Rings
Follow the steps in this document; Cannot Send or Receive Faxes to run the fax test report. The fax test report will let you know if it finds any problems and how to correct them. It will also provide you some more things you can try if the above settings do not resolve the issue. If you are in the US or Canada, you can Test Your HP Fax Machine with the HP Fax Test Service. When you send a fax to this automated service it will send reply back to automatically.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or more about your setup so I can help you further. I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • Officejet 8620 two problems a)Win7 firewall wifi connection and b)multihoming the printer

Bought the printer this afternoon and set up one computer - printer connection with wifi as advised in the enclosed paper work and CD. No problems.
When setting up the second computer (also with wifi) using the enclosed CD I got an error message that the hp software can see the printer at the IP address I gave it but it couldn't auto connect using the "typical connection method". Advice in the dialog box was to change the computer firewall settings for "typical connection" method. No advice  on what that might be. Looking at the Win7 firewall, all HP printer software is checked off for both the home network and public. What else does the Win7 firewall need to enable to make automatic printer connection work???  BTW I took the installation software's advice and punted for now. The warning by the software was that if the printers IP address changes I will have to manually change it in the computer withthe firewall problem (ugh).
Which leads to the second problem:
A couple of my computers are ethernet only. No wifi. When I plug ethernet in to the 8620, it sets an IP address for itself on the ethernet, but it  abandons the wifi IP address. How can I print from some ethernet connected computers and some wifi connected ones.
Any constructive advice is VERY WELCOME.
I apologize in advance if there is already a solution posted for either of these problems; I could not find them searching the forum.

Welcome to the HP Forums lennyw07016,
I see by your post that you are having issues installing the printer on a second computer. You would also like to setup the printer on the computers that are hardwired to the router. I can help you with this issue.
You can only use the Ethernet or Wireless at a time. The Ethernet connection turns off the Wifi.
You can have the printer setup on the wireless network and still add the printer to the computers with the hardwired connection to the router. As long as they are on the same network.
I have provided a document for different ways for setting up the printer on the wireless network.
Installing the Printer Software on a Wireless or Wired (Ethernet) Network Connection.
You should have the option to type in the printer's IP address.
    Printing a Network Configuration Page.
Here is another method for converting USB to wireless.
Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection.
Go to step 4 under the operating system selected.
If you are still having issues, check the IP address on the computer.
Go to start, type run in the search box, type in cmd, then type ipconfig.
    Check the IP address.
Now check the IP address for the printer.
Do the first 3 sets of numbers match?
    Try and ping the printer.
In the same window, type ping printers IP address (space between ping and IP address)
    What are the results?
If you need further assistance, let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.
