Ok, i went throught the Create New NI-DAQmx Task > Acquire Signal > Counter Input > Edge Count > then it gives me 2 option.I am sending it as a picture in attachment.
Does it matter which one i choose?
I dont understand what you mean the version of DAQmx.I am using NI USB 6229

  • Labview code for flowmeter sensor

    Hi all
I am using NI USB 6229 DAQ and Omega FTB-1302 flowmeter sensor.I made the proper wire connection. Now its time to labview coding but i dont know what to do.i am new in labview. Please help
    Best regards

Look at some of the DAQmx examples in the Help...Find Examples.   Your sensor most likely outputs a 0-5V or a 4-20mA signal.  You can read those signals into Labview using the examples.  You will probably need to apply a scaling factor to get a meaningful value.

  • Need help hooking up Omega Vacuum Sensor?

I need some help connecting a Omega Vacuum Sensor (PX141-015v5v) to a Feed Through Module on a SC-2345. I am confused on which wires go where. I am using LabView 7.0 for DAQ. Any programming tips would be helpful too. Thanks

    HolzschuM,
You will find wiring information as well as other configuration info at the SCC Configuration Guide.
Here is another link that discusses how to configure the SC-2345 Carrier. If these resources fail to address your concern please post back with more details (which feed-through module you are using, etc.) Good luck!

  • How will i link flowmeter sensor and labview

    Hello everyone,
I am new in this forum and alson in labview.I have a flowmeter sensor, I made cable connections bewteen the sensor and DAQ(NI-USB 6229) The question is what am i supposed to do to read the data on sensor.I just want to measure read the flowmeter sensor and dont know how to construct the labview diagram.I searched on net and learned that I have to do something with counters to convert square signal to a grapgh.and also I searched some codes about it but there must be an easy way to do this it ooks too complicated. In attachment I am sending the vi file.
Can you please help me because I have limited time..
    Thanks in advance.

Why did you attach a VI that writes out an analog output rather than a VI that actually reads in a signal?
What type of signal is the flowmeter putting out?
Did you look in LabVIEW help?  There are dozens of examples there for reading different signals using DAQmx.

  • Daq Connection Troubles

    Hi,
What I want to do is pretty simple (but I just can't figure it out ). I want to connect an analog input to an analog output, but control this like a relay. For example, when switch is true, my pins are connected so the input on pin A gets passed to the output on some pin B. Then when switch is false, input pin A is not connected to pin B (or pin B would output 0V).
Problem: For the case when my switch is true, the input gets passed correctly to the output. For the case when my switch is false, I get errors saying: "No samples provided to DAQmx Write to initialize buffered generation." or "Requested value is not a supported value for this property. The property value may be invalid because it conflicts with another property."
I know the problem is that the DAQ assistant wants some sort of input at all times, but Im not sure what to give it to make it output nothing.
Attached are two attempts I made.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Nevermind, I figured it out.
Under signal manipulation I used a relay, which didnt work previously, but I had to change "output when relay off" from "empty" to "zero".

  • Continuous Labview program run with non-continuous DAQ connection

I am using a wireless DAQ, NI 9191 chassis with 9205 module, to measure strain in a system. The DAQ is not being run on standard power so it will occasionally not be powered. The DAQ automatically reconnects to the computer when power is reestablished, but when the DAQ loses power the program encounters an error and stops the program.
What I want to do is create a Labview program that will run continuously by ignoring the errors, recording data when the DAQ has power and recording an NA or zero when there is no power.
If anyone knows or has had this problem before let me know if there is a solution ASAP.
    Thanks

The program propably (hard to tell without any code to review) only stops because you have not wired the error putputs of your DAQ-vis. Wire them through to a case structure. In the "no error" case pass your aquired data to whatever postprocessing you deem appropriate (you said something about recording). Set the outgoing tunnel with the data to "use standard if not connected" (I don't have the english version of LV available, so this might be called slightly different). This way it will allways pass on zero when there's an error in your data aquisition.

  • Nano says sensor not connected and wrong mileage

I usually run on a treadmill, and I've encountered two problems. The first is that the mileage isn't correct. I calibrated the sensor and still had this problem, and resetting the nano hasn't helped. The discrepancy is usually about .3 miles (treadmill says I ran 3.0 miles while the iPod says I ran 2.7). Also, it's started telling me that the sensor isn't connected when I go to start my run. Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

From the Main menu choose Extras > Nike+iPod > History > Totals.
Look for the message "Battery Low" in the Totals screen.
If the “Battery Low” message is displayed, the sensor battery is almost or may have already been completely depleted.
Visit your local Apple retail store for a replacement kit. You will need to replace both the receiver and sensor.
That may explain it. If that doesn't help try reseting your iPod. The last resort is try restoring your iPod.

  • Solar Tracker sensor daq

    Hi
I am a High School student , we are asked to build a solar tracker as a Graduating project , the Teacher advised us to use LABVIEW + SensorDaq for this project .
    My plan is
1-Two light sensor to determine the direction of higher rays
2-Acoordingly use a stepper motor to rotate the Solar panel to the side of higher value
    3- use gears
    4- sing axis only
but i am not sure if the current is enough to opreate the motor
It will be a great pleasure if i has ideas from you !

    43431,
I’m glad you’re getting experience using SensorDAQ and LabVIEW, I’m sure this project will help you learn a lot. I found some resources that should be of help for you as you work on your project. Using our KnowledgeBase articles by searching on www.ni.com may help you since these articles are meant for helping users troubleshoot and work through device use and setup.
As far as the LabVIEW use goes, there are specific SensorDAQ examples in our NI Example Finder as you can see referenced here: http://www.vernier.com/engineering/ni-labview/downloads/sdaq/ The NI Example Finder can be found if you open LabVIEW and go to Help>>Find Examples. It may help to talk through one or more of these examples with your teacher. You can see ‘context help’ by using the command <CTRL+H> which will give you information about each VI (LabVIEW function) just by hovering your mouse over that VI. Looking at the SensorDAQ help page may be of help to you as well: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370466V-01/device_pinouts/sensordaqpinout/
As far as your motor and current, you should be able to check what the motor is rated for and then compare that value to the current you’re supplying the motor to know if you will have enough power to operate the motor. Your teacher may be able to help with the motor specifications as well.

  • MyDAQ, connect sensors with multiplexer in labview

I am quite new to labview so hope someone can help. What  I am doing is to use NImyDAQ to connect 8 different sensors and show the output on labview. Since the myDAQ does not have enough input for 8 sensors, so I am using two 8 bits multiplexers to solve it.
Here is the question. How do the circuit draw in the labview which will make it works? I want to make an drop down button to select which sensor is connected and shown, therefore I need to output boolean value (0,1) to the digital input/output? I have try using case structure but seems difficult for me. Is there any example similar to what I am doing?

What you mean by skiping the DAQ Assistant? Can you make a drag and drop diagram for an example? I have no idea how the drop down menu giving out numerical value then goes into the Digital input in NImyDAQ.

  • IDS/IPS 4250, two sensors, connection status Paused

    Hi,
I have VMS 2.3 and SecMon 2.2 and two IDSs in there. I have noticed that the connection status for the sensors have changed from "Connected TLS" to "Paused". I have gone through database truncation process and all file sizes are good butstill having issues.
I deleted the sensors from the SecMon and added only one sensor, the connection status changed back to connected but it was set to paused in one hour time after adding the one sensor.
I can login to the sensor, i can ping the VMS server from the IDS command prompt and the IDS from the VMS DOS prompt. I have done everything possible to change this condition but none has so far worked.
    any thoughts???
    Thx,
    Masood

Connection states for RDEP devices are written into a table in the database by the receiver collector object. This means that if the receiver thread hangs or is not currently running, whatever state was last written to the table will be displayed.
"Paused" means that the collector for this device is waiting for the system to clear a large backload of data that is waiting to be inserted into the database. This can occur if the rate of flow of events temporarily overwhelms the receiver and usually indicates that the database has grown too large (more than 2 million IDS or Syslog events) or the system is very busy (servicing event viewer, generating reports, pruning, etc.). It usually takes several minutes (fifteen or more) for the system to recover to the point where it can begin collecting events again.
What sounds like happened here was that the sensors were offline, or at least were not getting events from the MC for a period. Then when you reconnected it the events began to be processed by the receiver process which in turn caused the 'paused' state. As I mentioned above, once it catches up with event processing you should be ok. Of course you'll want to ensure that you regularly prune your IDSMC/SecMon database to prevent this from happening again.
You may also want to look at see how much you're logging. You may still need to tune your signatures down as well and you should not have every signature enabled.
You should also look to upgrade your IDS/IPS software (you didn't mention what version you're on) to the latest service pack (4.1.5 for 4.x and 5.0.5 for 5.0.x)
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • How to measure current and voltage and rpm with daq device

i am measuring current and voltage and am wondering should i use shunt resistors or current sensors hall effect sensors. i have a pci 6221 and a scc-68 breakout box. what specifications or size should the shunt resistor/current sensor be or should i use another device to measure the currrent and voltage. do i need any other safety device between the resistors, current sensors and the scc-68 breakout box when measuring the current and voltage. will the daq card pci 6221 pick up a signal from the resistor. what terminals should the wires from the resistors and current sensors be connected to in the scc-68. i am using a proximity switch to measure rpm of a motor. should the proximity switch be 2 or 3wire connection. should it have an analog or digital connection and is a power supply required to power the proximity switch and should it have an npn or pnp connection

    hello,
i was going to use a 20amp 50mv, or a 20amp 100mv current shunt and connect wires directly into the AI input terminals of the scc-68 from the current shunt would these be suitable. would current shunts such as these be suitable to use http://uk.farnell.com/elc/sh10020/shunt-sh10020-20a-100mv-1-class/dp/1319576 or http://uk.farnell.com/datel/3020-01098-0/shunt-50mv-20a/dp/1339338
is it ok to use either a current shunt or should a hall effect sensor be used  such as this http://ie.farnell.com/honeywell-s-c/csla2cd/sensor-hall-effect/dp/1082269 . which of them would be more accurate or are both of them fairly accurate.
when i am measuring voltage can i connect two resistors between the positive and negative of the wires going to the battery and connect two wires from either side of the resistor directly into the analog inputs of the scc-68 and measure the 12-15 volts directly would the pci6221 and scc-68 be able to measure the voltage drop across the resistor.
i wanted to measure rpm also does it matter whether the proximity switch has 2 or 3 wires and should it have an analog or digital/frequency output for cponnecting to the scc-68

  • Help in the programming of the Hc-sr04 ultrasonic sensor

Hi im new in labview, i have to connect the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to the SensorDAQ, and i have to measure the distance betwen the sensor and an objetc, i have done a little program but the distance is very erratic, and i have seen an example but i dont underestand all the code in the example, so i dont know how to change it to do what i need, later today i will put the to vi's, the one i did and the one i have found, my code is very short adn the code i found i terrible long.
If my program is bad, can you tellme where adn why? or is not the code the sensor requieres please tell me.
If the example i add the code i really need can you explain me all the parts, and how to change it in order to function with the sensordaq.
Can you tell me how to wire the sensor to the sensor daq? i will add my connection diagram and photos so you can help me.
I have to make a tank sensor with the data of this sensor, and control a stepper motor with it, if the level is less than 20% use the stepper to open a valve, is its gratter than 80% close the stepper.
Other thing i need is when the level of the tank is gratter than 80% another mottor, non steper have to be turned on and must be running for a set time. when this set time is over a signal of "empty the tank" must be displayed.
I think is a lot of help what i need, i have wired the stepper mottor(bipolar 4 wires motor)  and i make it run, i dont know how to make it run in either direction so I have to fix this.
I'm going to add photos and my vis later today, please helpme, the most important thing is to make the sensor to work.

    Hi nmerzul.
There are two ways to perform DAQ tasks. One is with the DAQ assistant (the one that you are using) and the low level steps (the one of the example). Basically they both work the same. The difference is that you can configure all the settings in one step with the DAQ Assistant and with the other method you can do it step by step. I modified the example with a lot of notes so you can understand the functionality of each step.
Now, to help you with the wiring of the sensor and the DAQ, could you tell me what DAQ you are using?

  • Scb-68 connection to the building ground

    Dear NI experts,
I need to measure the light emission of a laser by means of a photodiode. I have a standard desktop PC connected to a DAQ acquisition board by a USB cable. Then the DAQ is connected to a SCB-68. First question: I must perform a differential acquisition or a single referenced aquisition with a photodiode? Second question: if I chose a single referenced acqisition I need to connect the SCB-68 case directly to the building ground? Or the System PC+DAQ+SCB-68 is already connected to the ground? Sorry for my elementary questions but I not very familiar with electricity...
    Thank you so much
    Best regards

    Hi,
If you have less than 8 signals, you should use Differential mode. This mode does not care about grounding. The only thing that you may want to do is to connect a 100 kOhm resistor between (-)terminal of your AI channel and GND, so that the signal is biased.
If you are going to need more than 8 channels, then Single Ended is the way to go for your connections.
    - Referenced> use it if your sensor is connected to ground and the ground is the same as the ground for your PC
    - Non Referenced> use it if your sensor is connected to a ground different from the ground of your PC or if it is not grounded.
    Cheers,
    AlessioD
