Welcome to the forum!
It shouldn't do that, you'll be pleased to hear. To help we'll need more information. Are you on an ADSL broadband line or do you have an Infinity connection?
The first thing to do is to run BT's speedtest at http://speedtester.bt.com/ and see if that shows any problems.

This is about the fifth post I've read that states all the 'recent' user problems and the totally 'new' user problems.
Such as, a request for On Demand content has 'been re-routed incorrectly to the box', resulting in a VO4 error. And blank recordings. And stuttering On Demand, on a users previously faultless Vision sevice.

Other than unplugging and restarting the x1 cable box, is there anything that can be done to fix intermittent freezes of some on-demand programs?  The programs will randomly pause and lock up the system.

  • Poor On demand

Hello all. My on demand keeps freezing, so I’ve followed all the suggested routes, re-sets etc. to rectify the problem. Three calls to the so call customer help service, still the same problem! My question is about the BT wholesale broadband performance test. My download speed 6.16, up 0.33 and ping latency (ms) 41.00 is good as the max for my line is 7.15. When I checked the additional services enabled on my line, advanced test (premium for video), the results failed and says to raise a fault with your service provider, poor service throughput performance! Does anyone understand what this means as when I phone all they want me to do is reset box, hub or take a day off work to wait for an engineer to do the same!! Any help would be appreciated, many thanks, Steve.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Up-date.........
It's a miracle !! Without the suggested help of an engineer, at the cost of £99 if a fault was discovered in my home. The on demand, catch up channels are all working fine, bt wholesale performance test for premium video now passed! Strange how things get sorted when you tell them to collect their box!!

  • On Demand - sound & picture freezing

For about 10 days now we have had an issue with our On Demand service.  Mostly, the just sound goes but also the whole thing freezes for a couple of seconds, before going again for another couple of seconds.  Rinse & repeat.
We have been on the phone to BT Technical Support nearly every day, whereupon we are asked to reboot the Hub and/or the Vision box, wait and see if anything changes.  We have been told on three occasions now by BT Vision support that someone will contact within 24-48 hours but they never do.  We have to phone up (again!) only to be told the same thing (reboot, is it fixed?).
I don't have them available, but the Speedtest results are very good - the support person's response when I told them was "Wow!".  Despite this we continue to have issues.  We are four months in to a 24 month contract and if it is this difficult and takes this long to get issues sorted out then I am not sure I want to continue with it.  We were with Virgin Media previously, and whilst not error free by any means, things were sorted out a lot quicker then BT seem to be able to manage.
What's our next step?  I am getting fed up with phoning Tech Support and getting nowhere and am tempted to wait until I can call BT on "breach of contract" for failing to provide a service for which we pay, thereby getting us out of the rest of the 24 month **bleep**-hole that is BT Vision.
    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris
I can't imagine how frustrating the Vision service has been.
I was only in contract for 12 months - now I'm PAYG.
I was going to recontract a while back (mainly for the kids pack - not for me of course) but it's after reading various bits of news and seeing certain posts that TBH it's put me right off doing so. The 30 skip removal was and is very annoying.
Also when BT dropped a boo boo a while back, they allowed ALL vision users to watch 2 selected OD titles for 1p.
One was unwatchable (juddered throughout) and the other was charged at full price!
BT did refund the full amount and wavered the 1p charge for both titles - which was the right thing to do IMO.
I've recently noticed that some of the free to view OD vids (mainly the help vids) can intermittently judder, so I doubt I'll ever sign up to a package.
I wish I could advise on a way to get out of your contract, but sadly I can't.
I doubt there is such a way without incurring the dreaded cancellation charges...

  • On Demand Freezing/Sticking

Everytime I try to access the on demand portion of FiOS, I will be scrolling though the titles and it will freeze/stick on a title, and I will have to wait for a few seconds, and then it will catch up and scroll through real fast.
Its really annoying. I have tried resetting the box, nothing.
    Ideas?
Also, why does SD on demand looks like crap?

    Hello chalewa4bambu,
The VOD menu sticking has been happening for a little while now.  The department which controls the VOD menu and content is working on a solution to this problem, however, no target release date has been fixed.  The cursor will scroll through really quickly because it will log in the number of button presses you do when it gets hung up for that second and automatically readjust itself the number of times you hit the arror.
As far as the picture goes you can refer to

  • BTVision - Keeps freezing & no sound "On demand" +...

    Hi,
When trying to play on demand, films etc. the picture freezes, no sound. If I FF then it will play normally for a few minutes then the senario starts again. The hub is upstairs plugged directly into a phone socket with a filter as supplied. The main socket is downstairs again with a filter attached. I have tried all the tests - resetting the hub and vision+plus box etc. to no avail. I even bought a new tv with freeview, guess what still the same problems!!!! I have a dvd+vcr recorder attached to the tv but I can't see this making a difference to BTVision?? So far I am unimpressed with this package as I seem to be paying for a service that we can't use!!! Frustrated!!

  • Acrobat Pro 9.0 freezes when viewing/scrolling through the table of contents of a document

I am hoping someone can help me or has experienced the same problem I'm about to describe. I belong to the technical publications group of a fairly large company and I review a lot of PDF documents. I just installed Acrobat 9.0.0 (via CS4 Design Standard) and I've noticed on larger documents where there's a full page or several pages worth of Table of Contents, Acrobat 9.0.0 seems to freeze up when I begin scrolling through the TOC. For example, if I want to use the Text Edit tools or use a sticky note, when I press on an icon, Acrobat will freeze for a good 10 seconds, then will allow you to press the icon. It tends to freeze each time I want to make my next edit or even pressing the up/down arrow buttons to go to the next page. Once I get through the TOC pages, Acrobat seems to function normally--no freezes.
Has anyone experienced this? Would appreciate any kind of advice on how to fix--perhaps there's a patch or update?
I didn't experience any of this using Acrobat 8.0--I never had any real problems with Acrobat until 9.0.0.

Your issue may not be related to a difference between v8 and 9.
I have not had this problem on my computers, but a coworker had this issue. For many documents that others were able to open and scroll through without issue, his computer was freezing and unfreezing.  IT determined his graphics capabilities were not able to keep up with the requirements of working with larger documents and gave his computer a RAM upgrade and a new graphics card. Particularly during scrolling, higher demands are made on the computer to graphically render and re-render page content. Documents giving him problems before became a non-issue.
A new graphics card is obviously a $$$ solution, but you might want to check to see if your RAM meets the minimum requirements and check to see if there are any program updates (Help > Check for Updates).
I have had an issue of pdfs freezing, but not specifically in the table of contents areas. If your document has pages with images that have an unusually high number of layers, it may affect the ability to work effectively in the document.

  • Unplugging all network devices from Fios router prevents DVR freezing and remote control lock ups.

    All,
I recently had a Verizon tech visit my house due to constant DVR and remote control freezing. TV content was freezing whether it was locally recorded, pulled from another DVR in the house, or On Demand. On a hunch after the tech tested everything and was about to leave, he unplugged my gigabit switch from the Fios router. Lo and behold everything started running perfectly. Since to the tech, the problem was solved, he closed the case and was on his way. The probem is of course I have more devices than the built in router switch provides ports for. My network is compised of an 8 port Netgear gigabit switch downstream from the Fios router with two wireless access points (with their own built in gigbait switches) connecting to the Netgear gigabit switch. There are no loops in the switch topology. I've tried changing out the router, the gigabit switch, removing the wireless acces points individually as well as plugging the access points directly into the Fios router switch (one at a time with no Netgear switch in the middle) and all scenarious cause the DVR/remote control freeezing to come back. The only devices I can plug into the Fios router without causing freezes are PC's....anything with it's own switch essentially brings the network to it's knees. If anyone has an idea how to get my network back in one piece AND make the DVR's/remotes behave, I'd greatly appreciate the help!

    5 Motorola HD-DVRs all QIP 7232-2 running software release 1.9.1 platform build 25.39 (Oct. 22, 2012)
    Specific config:
75/35 Fios connecting via ethernet from ONT. Set-top boxes connect to Fios router coax port via powered splitter.
*All SNR/dB mesasurements taken by the tech from the set-top boxes and router are well within spec.
Fios router provides DHCP addressing. Wireless N access points are configured for roaming with the same SSID and non-overlapping channels. Access points are not providing routing or IP adressing...all layer 3 and up services still provided by Fios router

I am inclined to echo several of the "tns" comments, particularly with respect to your splitter.  My layout is based on a standard 8-port splitter of the type usually supplied in a VZ install.  In addition I do have a ChannelPlus device that functions as a powered splitter, but its use is limited to distribution of secondary TV signals to older analog TVs.  My first point then is that this may be an offender as "tns" has suggested.
In addition, I'd describe your wiring as "non-standard" (red-colored items in the above diagram)  As you're no doubt aware, with 75/35 you don't really need Cat5e from the ONT (your original diagram).  It seems the highest tiers do require it, but in "standard" installations this run is coax directly to an 8-port non-powered splitter (below diagram), then from that splitter via coax to all STBs and CableCards, other TVs, et.), and also to the Actiontec.   Subsequent feeds from the Actiontec to wired devices (including WAPs) are via Ethernet (typically Cat 5e).
In fact I don't immediately see how your STBs get additional services such as On Demand and IMG with the wiring shown in your diagram (perhaps someone can help me out here).  In "standard" installs the Actiontec must be connected via coax to the ONT to provide such services to other network clients.  I don't see that requirement being met here.
For starters I'd recommend that you change your service from WAN Ethernet to WAN coax.  This can easily be accomplished over the telephone.  Then I'd run coax directly from the ONT to the Actiontec as in my revised diagram below (blue-colored items).  If your setup can manage with this arrangement, I think it will help greatly with the "freezing" issue.

Subsequent Note:  You provided additional info while I was composing a response, and I'd  like to offer another comment.  Structured wiring "panels" of the type usually available are pre-configured to provide data, phone and video.  This usually means that one is in certain respects limited by the ideas of the panel designer.  I have what can be called a structured wiring layout, but it really is composed of individual small custom networks for  each service (automation, security, video, data, telco, etc.), configured so that all wiring terminates in "home run" fashion at a central panel (a few details here: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Home-Networking/Cmon-Show-Us-Your-Network/m-p/481733#M765 ).  This layout makes it easier to make adjustments (and there have been quite a few over the intervening years).  I'm thinking that in your case you may have to abandon the powered splitter (presumably) built into the panel in order to avoid your present fix.
Subsequent Subsequent Note:   From your description it seems that you are using more than a single "whole house" DVR to supply programming to other devices.  This is a bit puzzling to me because somewhere along the line I recall reading that only a single whole house DVR was allowed on the network.  Can you elaborate a bit?

  • MSI Neo2 K8N Platinum - Freezing Issue during games

First off greetings to everyone on these forums...
I purchased the MSI Neo2 K8N Platinum motherboard from NewEgg back at the end of March to compliment the AMD 64 "Winchester" processor that I also purchased at that time to replace a slightly older AMD XP "Barton" system that was using the Abit NF7-S motherboard. For the past month I have been fighting an unusual and highly irritating issue that I have noticed during game play and have tried everything that I know of and more in an attempt to remedy this issue, but to no avail. This is the general background of the situation and now I will descibe in greater detail as to what this issue I am referring to is and the symptoms of this issue and some of the various methods used to remedy this issue.
The issue is that while play a game the system experiences a short 5-10 second freeze during the game randomly, but usually several times an hour. During this freezing the sound would loop and as suddenly as the freeze occurs it would cease and the game would continue on as if nothing happened. However, sometimes this would result in the system freezing outright after this short 5-10 second freeze... but it does not feel like a total system freeze, but rather a video freeze as the sound continues and I still have keyboard control... but this does require me to force a manual reboot of the machine itself. I have scowered the internet and various forums in an attempt to find what the issue was and use various methods to remedy this issue, but so far nothing has worked in my favor... but it does seem like this issue has been plaguing other users with the MSI Neo2 Platinum motherboard. Below are some of the methods that I have used in an attempt to solve this issue:
*Default Clock for CPU/Memory/GPU; Over/Under Clock for CPU/Memory/GPU
*Increased voltages to CPU VID, AGP, and Memory
    *Disabled/Enabled AGP Fast Writes
*Increased AGP Aperture from 64MB to 512MB
*Enabled/Disabled ATI/nVidia Speedup option in BIOS
*Forced AGP clock lock to 66-67mhz
    *Relaxed/Aggressive memory timings
    *APIC enabled/disabled
    *Gate A20 turbo/normal
*Disabled all unneeded onboard components (Realtek NIC, Sound, SATA)
*Disabled nVidia MAC and attempted to use 3Com Gigabit PCI card instead
    *Swapped HDD Cables
*Tried PCI Sound Card (SB Audigy2 ZS Gamer) in PCI Slots 3/4
*Tried video drivers from 71.89 Official to 76.45 beta modified drivers
*Tried 5.10 official nForce drivers to remixed 7.02 nForce drivers (5.10 drivers uses 4.36 GART, higher drivers uses the 4.40 GART)
*Applied all the latest updates from Windows Update Website
*Reinstalled Operating System (Windows XP SP2) 5 different times clean with various settings (APIC on/off, etc...) and different drivers.
*Installed Audio Card (SB Audigy2 ZS Gamer) with older and the latest drivers available from Creative's website
    *Replaced PSU (Previously was a Thermaltake 420watt PSU, 18A +12v) with a OCZ Modstream 520watt PSU (28A +12v)
*Video card is KNOWN working from previous build (AMD XP 3000, Abit NF7-S)
*Hard Drive is KNOWN working from previous build
*CD/DVD-ROM drive is kNOWN working from previous build
*Heat is not an issue... all components temperature is well below rated level, the only unknown is the chipset temperature (it has a active heatsink and seems to not be hot to the touch, applied AS5 to it anyway)
*Used latency tweak to the video card
*Used Rivatuner to force constant performance level
*Tweaked BIOS to force even clock rates and forced 1.4v to the GPU Core
    *Used original GPU BIOS
    *Used MSI Neo2 K8N Bios 1.4 - 1.8 and modified BIOS 1.8
*No background applications are running (not even antivirus)
*Used application to force maximum refresh rates for my monitor
*Memory passed MemTest86+ for over 24 hours
*System passed Prime95 and SuperPi for over 24 hours
*System seems stable in all non gaming related applications
    *Checked through various troubleshooting procedures
    *Disabled SBDRVDET.EXE using MSCONFIG
*There are no IRQ conflicts outside of PCI system management sharing IRQ11 with the NIC and USB... in APIC there are no IRQ conflicts what so ever. Regardless neither method worked
*Installed AMD 64 drivers from AMD
    *Disabled DEP in boot.ini
*...and many other various tweaks and modifications.

I have been fighting this issue for well over a month now and I am frankly nearly out of ideas, this does not necessarly prevent me from playing games, but this does interfere with the games I do play (especially online games). I do demand absolute stability from the games that I play and this issue only began AFTER I upgraded to the new motherboard, processor, and memory. The only thing I have not tried is something that I do not have access in attempting on this motherboard, and that is increasing the voltage to the chipset.
Here is my theory on what is going on is that I believe is there is a fault with the chipset on this motherboard and this is manifesting itself while I am playing various games on this system. Of course I would like to try increasing the voltage to the chipset as that would increase stability, but there is no option in BIOS to increase the chipset voltage like the previous motherboard I had (Abit NF7-S). It is possible that either a) the chipset is at fault and is causing me this issue or b) the chipset is not recieving enough voltage.
My question to the rest of you is this, what do you think the problem is and what ideas do you have that I may try that I have not tried yet. Additionally if there is nothing else that I may try should I attempt to RMA this motherboard and will that help, and is there any other versions of this motherboard that I should be aware of. I would appreciate any response from a MSI representative and any comments from those that may have positive suggestions for my issue. Thank you in advance for your time and any help that you may be able to render.

*EDIT* Added additional methods attempted... (there was a lot... so I did not remember everything that I have tried)

Does it only happen in online games, or can it happen in all games? One thing to make sure of is to turn off CRC checksum offload in your NVidia MAC properties (everyone do this, it is incorrectly calculating checksums which leads to servers ignoring your packets). However as you have tried a different network card you can discount this theory.
For me it looks like the biggest culrpit is your 6800NU, i have read alot of bad things about the NU and you have a low bios revision there, just because it worked well against your old chipset doesnt mean it will work well against your current chipset. Sounds like a BIOS fix is needed as some timing is out somewhere.
Ensure Spread Spectrum is off (and as you have already pointed out Fast writes, ATI NV Speedup) and your card is running at default clock.
As a test beg/borrow/steal another graphics card (preferably nvidia) and see how it goes so you can narrow in on your video card.
It is not just one game, but it is more prodominate in certain games than others... the game in question here is Planetside... though I stuck a demo of Unreal Tournament 2004 on a loop bot match and it seemed to have locked up after 4 hours (not sure how many times it experienced that 5-10 freeze as I went to bed). As for the video card it was KNOWN working from a previous build in those same games (Previous build was a AMDXP3000 and a Abit NF7-S nForce2 motherboard). The only components different in this build is the AMD64, the MSI Neo2 K8N, 2 new sticks of Corsair XMS to replace the Corsair ValueSelects, and the SB Audigy2 as I would never use a software codec audio solution. Spread Spectrum is LOCKED in BIOS and disabled... ATI/nVidia speed up was disabled from the start... and I tried the Video Card at default clock, over clocked, as well as under clocked and the same issue resulted... as I said before it is NOT the video card.
There are two other things I could try is use my old Geforce4ti 4200 and see what happens... or even try out WindowsXP 64-bit edition as someone earlier suggested. I wish I could find a new BIOS for my XFX 6800NU, but there there is only the revision 1 BIOS that I was able to find. The mystery continues...

  • LR 3 freeze when trying to import (with a workaround)

    Hi,
    Windows XP SP3
Core i7 with 4 GB RAM (3 in use)
I had mentioned this in the previous IMPORT FREEZE thread, but that thread go pretty long and convoluted so I thought I would isolate the particular problem that I (and many others) are having.
Problem is that when hitting the IMPORT button (or doing a drag and drop, or using the menu to select IMPORT), the screen freezes. Most of the time the cursor arrow is frozen on the Import button. LR thinks that it is in Import mode but there is no UI. To get out of this frozen mode you just have to hit the escape key, and LR dismisses the (non-existent) Import screen and continue to function normally.
Sometimes the Import screen is partially drawn. I think this happens if the Import mode had worked previously in this session (like it does right after a complete re-boot).
The problem is that once this problem shows up, while you can get out of the frozen program (by hitting the esc key) there is no way to import files into LR without re-booting.
    Workaround:
This morning I realized that since the problem seems to be with drawing the Import screen, that maybe Auto-Import would work, and at least I would have the import function back. So I tried it and it works perfectly. I just download to the HD using another method to get the files from the memory card to the HD, and then move the files to the watch folder (after you enable Auto-Import). Set the preview to minimal so the "import" can go as fast as it can.
Hope this helps, and if Adobe or anyone else with this specific import problem has additional info, please post it hear. I know other people are having problems with the actual import, but let's keep those in a seperate thread (at least that is my suggestion).
    Thanks in advance.

First let me say I appreciate your 2cts worth.  I am learning more about this issue with every post.  That's the great thing about forums.  It brings the smart people with the passion for making life easier for others together, learning a bit more at the same time.
Before I downloaded the trial version I checked the system requirements.  Lightroom is built for systems several years old.  Here are my PC specs:
    - Dell Studio 1737
    - Windows Vista Home Premium w/SP1
    - Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10GHz
    - 6 GB RAM
    - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650
    - 64-bit Operating System
This should be more than enough to run the most demanding Lightroom tasks.  Your thoughts?

  • On Demand Crash with no error message

Over the last few days our on demand has stopped allowing us to watch content. We have a broadbamd connection with no speed issues, we can watch BBCiplayer and access all the on demand menus to select what we want. But, as soon as you have selected an on demand title and the box tries to download, the screen freezes with the rotating triangle and the box just stops and reboots! We do not get any error message and at present have no other issues!
I have done all the obvious suggested things on the help screen (checking cable connections, rebooting, resetting registration ect) and rung BT help but after a frustrating 15 minutes of waiting and repeating our issue (apparantly their systems are running slow) the advisor asked to call back on my mobile. We have minimal signal in our home but we tried and after losing him twice he has not callled back! The advisor had started asking questions about our main BT socket before cut off so i wondered if he thought there might be a connection problem within the house, but I tried redoing all the connections for the hub and powerline adaptors in the main socket and it made no difference to our problem. I have limited knowledge and I just don't know where to start next.
We have had issues ever since we switched to BT vision from Sky of the box randomly switching itself off which have not been resolved by the recent software upgrade and I am fed up of paying for something that most of the time we can't use!

    Hello totallyfrustrated,
Is this still happening? This is quite strange, could you send in your details if it's still a problem and we'll get back to you?
You can get our contact link by clicking on my username, it's under "About me".
    Thanks,

  • Retrieving Freezed and Unfreezed data from a Single Report

    Dear All,
I have a requirement where we have 2 types of users.
    1. End User and 2. Super User 3. Intermediate Users
We have source system data which will be retieved on a daily basis.
Here Super user freeze the data ramdomly.
We need a report to be generated which with show
    1.Freezed data to Super user
    2. Unfreezed data to End User and
    3. Intermediate User who needs both freezed and unfreezed data.
Can someone suggest the most optimal way to execute this requirement.
    Early response will be appreciable.
    Thanks,
    Sai Gautam

    Hi,
you could use the scheduling function of BOE for this.
For the Super Users: The Report will be scheduled after the data has been frezzed
For the End Users: They can run the Report On- Demand on any Time
For Intermediate Users: They can do both. View the Instance of the Scheduled Report and run the Report On- Demand
This could be handled by Permissions in BOE.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • When Firefox first loads, there is threatening script which quickly comes up and disappears, but I want to freeze and read it; but how?

I am the victim of Identity Theft. The perpetrator has taken over as Roaming Administrator of my PC's. I once had 7 of them, but she has stolen/destroyed all but 2. She is taking online classes at college from Microsoft, and puts her class notes on one of the 2 surviving ones, which was returned to me by law enforcement. She has denied me access even to my "My Documents" subdirectory, &, in an ASUS AMD 8-core PC w/16GB of RAM, with a 3D blu-ray DVD reader/writer & 52-memory card reader/writer built in & a 2TB Western Digital eSATA HDD, all of which I designed & built, she has hidden the entire directory tree on the hard drive & rendered all of the other devices disabled so that the system is kaput; all because I was amassing evidence against her for law enforcement & the FTC.
The question at-hand is how I screen-freeze Firefox as it is loading so that I can read the JavaScript she has written at the bottom of the banner. It is something about how she has accessed my Norton Identity Safe Vault, changed the password on me, & shut off & denied me access to my 2 Facebook accounts & others I am not quick enough to read. I need to screen-capture this message for law enforcement, because they STILL, after a year & losing a total of $223,000 from my bank account to her, don't have a case file with them! PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME! Katrina has actually hired a hit-man whom we have captured on surveillance video trying to shoot me in the head! She has also hacked her way into my router, changed my password & disabled the reset capability of the router so that even my ISP can't reset it! Imagine what YOU could do with $223,000! I am elderly, broke, and have lost almost 250 pounds because of her! If I live long enough, I want to see her in federal prison. If I die, I want her to die by lethal injection in Washington State for First Degree Murder!
FYI...I have used Firefox since its creation. The last time she wiped it off one of my systems & I reinstalled it, she caused it to install in Swedish. She has stolen the keys to all of my paid programs, & the companies now believe they actually belong to her, instead of myself. Norton 360 Premiere thinks I'm an intruder on my own machines, and Symanted has disabled my account, and will not communicate with me anymore. They gave her my Vault with more than 200 usernames and passwords! With GoDaddy, I had 17 non-profit SSL domains, for which I paid in excess of $8,000 to secure for 10 years with 21 email accounts. She obtained my SSN, impersonated me, demanded back the money I had paid, and they sent it to her. She stole the phone on which I had 2-step authentication, and now they won't let me near my accounts! I've had the same Gmail account for 8 years. Google opened up my password-secured YouTube account to 70,000+ strangers and pornography, and, after being LinkedIn's nominee for International Businesswoman of the Year, 2013, Google opened up my Wallet account to 2 other Identity Thieves to make purchases in my name, and they say I don't exist.
Lastly, she has poisoned our indoor spa with bio-terroristic flesh-eating parasites in the form of hybridized, skin-burrowing arthropods that killed our dog, cats, and dozens of birds in our special-needs avian sanctuary. I barely survived an 8-day stay in the hospital in June in, in "grave condition with toxic encephalopathy" because the parasites are immune to all parasiticides, and had crossed my blood-brain barrier. My husband has heart attacks, strokes and seizures constantly from them. I can no longer walk.
It is but one question I have asked, but your answer could be the key to stopping her from destroying what is left of our lives. With that JavaScripted message, she has cut me off from thousands of friends and family who have no idea what has happened to me. I live in a desolate, isolated corner of rural America without so much as phone or text service. All I have is the Internet and Firefox to keep me alive. If I can freeze that message and show it to the Whitman County Sheriff's Office, for whom I am the volunteer computer expert, they will accept their first-ever case of Identity Theft, and pursue her. It's bad enough that I lost the family fortune that my parents worked their whole lives to amass; I've lost my credibility, my self-esteem, and my will to live.
If you can help me, I plan on writing a book about the whole traumatic experience so that innocent others won't have to suffer the devastating nightmares as we have. Ours has been called, by the experts who should know, the worst case of Identity Theft in the history of the crime.

    Hi,
Troubleshooting a start up script can be difficult. There are some third party programs that also keep logs of start up programs, however for Firefox this may be different.
Is Firefox a startup program? [http://www.winxptutor.com/msinfo32.htm]
Its also possible to check the Web developer tools for any scripts in a page: [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Debugger]
In the control panel there is also Administrative tools to view event logs, but this may be something a local technician can walk you through.

  • HD Channels freeze after 5 minutes

Since the launch of BT sport my HD channels including new BT sport freeze after about 5 minutes.  Help suggests I restart Home Hub and BT vision box. This gets the system going for the next 5 minutes.  Note this is the behaviour whether accessing BT sport or BBC1 HD.  I can actually get the channel to unfreeze by simply changing channels so its not really necessary to reboot all the boxes.  Unfortunately this approach does not work when trying to record your favourite football team.
Other details: BT Vision box is connected to Home Hub by powerline adaptors and I often get a message with error VMC999 complaining of a slow connection.
What is particularly irritating is that I have a new Samsung smart TV which displays all HD channels perfectly (via Freeview) and seamlessly streams HD on demand content by connecting wirelessly to the BT router.
I have made two attempts this week to contact BT (0800...) but abandonned them as there are'nt enough hours in the day.
So what I propose do is to "enjoy" my "free" BT sport channels (I have infinity account), cancel my BT Vision subscription (if BT ever pick up the phone) and subscribe to Netflix, Blinkbox, etc.
If anyone has any practical or technical suggestions please comment.
    Mike

Did you manage to try using an ethernet cable rather than the power line adapters (PLA's)? Did this solve the problem? As others mentioned the PLA's are probably causing the VMC999 error. You need a reliable connection to the Vision+ box for the multicast channels to work smoothly. Being live channels they have to work in a slightly different way to on-demand content.
If after trying a cable you still get the multicast channels freezing after approx 5 mins every time you try to view/record them then you are not the only one. In that case I suggest you read this thread I created a while back. I got it fixed for my line, but it still seems to be affecting some customers now. Get your stopwatch out!
