Online Usage anomally

Here is an interesting one. I had a faster broadband update email :-
http://view.btemailsonline.com/2010/04/14/cell_1_migration_advice.html
and my date was 18-Feb-2011.
I'm not really sure if it has completed, though the hub shows a connection time of 1day 11hrs at the moment (it's usually very stable in my case). The modulation is ITU-T G.992.1
I just looked at my online usage, and I have kept a small spreadsheet and up to 14th Feb it was 6.61GB usage - matching all my computer checkers.
Here's the latest figure - so I'm not sure if the update has caused this anomally or if there is something else wrong :-

Hi Andy,
Sure looks like it doesn't it , a bit like my problem here, except that mine jumped forward by about 9 gb over 13 days , but it was just after they did some work at my exchange.
Strange 'cos I had a lift & shift and a card reset yesterday but the usage monitor agrees with my own checkers, well so far anyway.
Del.
It's a weird one, and if I was on option 1 and hadn't made a note of my usage, I would be slightly concerned whether the actual usage was the chart figure alone, or in addition to a hidden figure before this strange reset.

  • Some of my text messages do not show up on Verizon online usage

My husband received a text last night from a friend.  Then 2 minutes later that same friend texted me.  It shows this friends text on my online usage, but no his.  It has since shown messages that we've sent to each other so I know it's updated.  Why does this happen?

We both have the same exact phone.  Droid Razr M.  Thanks though!

  • Faults on BT's online usage meter page

Assuming that it is July 1st today, surely my online usage meter at bt.com should have reset to zero. It still shows 30GB used out of 40GB (Option 2) as if it were still June.
What's more, clicking the Help with BB Usage links merely replicates the same page.
Something is not right. Woe betide BT if I get charged for exceeding my limit.

Mine's been reset in the last few hours between about 0200 hrs and 0830 hrs on the 2 July, with a new date on the left - 1 July 23:59. The previous datestamp on the "incorrect" meter page was 30 June 23:59.
But here's a strange thing: this morning at about 01:30 my Home Hub page was registering a reboot 3 days 12 hrs ago, and an incredibly wild usage figure of 45GB download, 7 hrs later it reads 2 days 22 hrs with the same d/l record

  • Online Usage Meter?

Years ago I was able to get a report from the My Account section of the website to see my monthly usage. I can't find any clear links to such a tool anymore, and when the search results for this site come up with a link to the "Online Usage Tool", the link just takes me back to My Account. Am I missing something?

I do recall seeing that link way back when. I think it was used more for those who still used Dial-up from Verizon, and not DSL (FiOS wasn't well known at the time of that link being around), but as far as I know it was always a broken function. It was probably removed because Verizon doesn't employ Data limits on their Wireline services (thankfully) and Dial-up has pretty much passed us.

  • Online Usage Statistics

This post is about online usage statistics
Why are they not provided, when BT clearly has the information (it's provided in the "over the limit") e-mails that BT send?
Why does BT continue to ignore (for at least the last 2 years) the several e-mails / complaints every day on the subject to the (Indian) Customer Service Centre?
The standard answer is "download tracking software", but that's fairly useless and impractical for multi-computer users
The next common answer is "check the Hub statistics", but that's also unreliable due to periodic resets
The real answer is for BT to provide this information from the point of collection - i.e. their servers and via a web gateway
So come on BT, provide the information
    TIA
    Martin

So I got another warning today about exceeding the limit
Same story, no definate data, no knowledge when online data would be provided
Except that the man said "it used to be provided online, when usage limits were less"
If it was provided - why is now witheld ?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
The online usage meter is a day in arrears (as shown on the left hand side given the date/time of the uodate). The update always shows the usage for the month so far up to midnight the day before. On 1st of the month it will show the total usage for the previous month. From 7am or soon after on the 2nd, it will start again.
For non unlimted packages, it does seem a little strange, but the relevant date is the one on the left for which the usage figure applies.
The online usage meter is not real time as can bee seen by that date on the left.

  • Hub and online usage meters don't tally

After monitoring the data usage for a while we find the online data usage is approximately three times higher that what the hub reports (taking into account download and upload).
Really annoyed that it forced us to upgrade to unlimited when we use much less than 40Gb. Now it appears that our evening speed is really being throttled with a much higher latency. Wished we'd never switched back to BT.

the problem with using the hub figures is that the usage resets everytime the hub resets so unless your connection was stable and connected for a complete month you cannot compare

  • Online Usage Lies when you have no direct number attached

I have an account with Verizon that I am the Sole And Primary Account Owner and Manager. I do not have a phone with Verizon, but I am in charge of the plan. When I took my phone off the system, I was told through the chat with Verizon Support that I will still have access to My Verizon. I tried to log in and spent 30 minutes on the phone with Verizon and I find out I was lied to and lost all the usefullness of the website. This has lead me to have to go back to paper bills.
Does anyone know if other carriers allow you to be the account manager and utilize online resources without having a number attached? I am sick of seeing Verizon Email lies about my abilities to use the web when there is no work around for my situation. I do not want to give this access to other people on the account since I am the account owner and am responsible for it.
Verizon has told me there is no work around or anything else than to do for me to make up for this problem and it is quite aggrevating. I do not want to call Verizon and sit on hold or go through the automated system every time I am curious if I am close to the maximum internet usage on the plan (This affects my bank account but I have restricted access to it). Does anyone know if Verizon is working on getting around this problem to give internet access to account owners who do not have a phone number attached to the account.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    You have totally lost me.
You would need a telephone number to access the online My Verizon http://www.verizonwireless.com  web Portal.
How would you care or worry about data alerts when there is no phone attached to the account. No phone then no access, it makes perfect sense to me.
Maybe you are referring to a Jet pack or other cellular device. Are you?
Sorry I just cannot assist if I cannot figure out what you are talking about.
    Good Luck

  • Online usage

Why is my phone number showing up as a called number?  I'm assuming it's a called number, there's no destination number and it's not showing as incoming or outgoing.  The minutes is more than what it should be for a voicemail check.  It doesn't make sense at all.  Can someone please explain this for me?

    myohmy,
I would be happy to assist you with settling any confusion with your billing detail.
Are you viewing the call details on a paper bill or through My Verizon Online?  If viewing the call details online, while in the "Usage Details" tab, click on the blue link titled "View All Voice Details" and that screen will show you more details of the calls, such as: Rate / Usage Type / Origin and Destination.
Let me know if you are still having trouble finding what these calls are referring to!

  • 5800 GPS, clarify online usage?

I tried searching around existing topics, but was a little confused at the replies I found, so to clarify:
So I was testing out the GPS, had Bluetooth and A-GPS disabled, network and integrated enabled, and it still connected to GRPS and cost me. I didn't have it before, but I've turned the prompt to go online on now, and if on that prompt I select not to go online, will it still cost me? And if I don't use online, I would assume the GPS wouldn't function as well/quickly, but it will still work right?
I tested it just now, by selecting to not go online in just one location. It didn't send or retrieve any data from the network, but it still shows in my log that there was an outgoing connection to GPRS. Is this normal, even though I've told it not to go into online mode?
    Thanks for answering.

It will go online to load the maps, if you haven't used a PC and MapLoader to predownload the maps to the phone first.
Also, it will want to go online for searches, if an offline search doesn't produce results.
So, start by installing MapLoader - you also get it if you install the latest PC Suite from http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite - and then use it to download the maps for the countries you wish.

  • Tips for online usage

    Premier Pro CS4 Mac Noob
I am creating online video's for our company and was wondering if anyone has tips on file format, encoding (H.264, FLV etc) and other settings to use to make small files of acceptable quality.
A 3 minute movie I put together (from 3 H.264 recordings and an AI file) encoded at H.264 ended up as 12MB even though the 3 recordings I used totaled around 8MB. I do have a quick transition of the AI file as well for maybe 5 seconds.
I looked at other online video's and found the file sizes to be about half of what mine is and the quality looks better.
Thanks very much in advance for any tips or suggestions.

OK through trial and error I found that setting the FPS to 10 instead of 29 or 30 helps reduced the file size even though the estimated size was showing higher.
    So my settings are :
    H.264
    10 frames per second
    VBR 2 pass .5 and 4MB
    Audio is 128 Medium
I think I am actually going to use flash to play the movie and overlap it with Vector transitions and buttons like email links.
Any other suggestions are much appreciated.

  • Sudden increase in Broadband Usage at end of the m...

    Hi
I'm hoping someone can comment on my problem. I was comfortably within my 10 GB monthly BB allowance according to the usage meter (I checked every few days) and then suddenly within a couple of days before the end of the month my usage  increased so that I was 8GB over my allowance despite my actual usage not increasing. I wasn't downloading masses of video or music rather just browsing and downloading (as I had been) the odd file. I have queried this with BT but despite responding with a standard letter the only other communication I have received is a letter advising that I would be charged £10-00 for the privilege of exceeding my allowance (correct by the rules!). As I maintain that my internet activity did not increase where did this extra usage come from? I have performed antivirus, malware and registry checks without finding any infection at all. A few months ago a similar event happened when I found myself 1.8 GB over my monthly allowance. Am I missing something obvious?
Any help would be very greatfully received.
    Sincerely
    Adge

I have spotted this several times although not neccessarily at the end of the month, So much so that I have now taken to logging a spreadsheet with actual usage versus BT monitor usage.
I have never had a satisfactory reply to any of my queries or requests for data limit refunds, went up a couple of gig one day when everything was off, including the usage monitor!, but I have noticed the issue early enough to strictly limit my usage to keep the end of month figures down.
It has actually got better in the last couple of months but as far as I can tell the BT monitored usage includes all housekeeping between BT and the BT HUB. Not sure what is going on but recent examples are: Actual Data 270Mb Monitored usage 800Mb; 420Mb vs 1.65G.
The annoying thing is I paid the year line rental in advance - non refundable and then the problems started occuring so even if I walk I don't get the rental back.
So basically don't pay the £10 and ask for documented proof that you actually used that amount of data before you even consider paying
    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
May I ask how you are measuring the usage yourself ? Is it via the hub stats ? They are prone to being inaccurate, and can reset - even if the "online" time doesn't.
Also - the online usage monitor is a day in arrears and not real time. To prove that the monitor is faulty, leaving off the equipment one day will not actually show it, it depends exactly when it is off. There is my "3 day check" to prove it.
Turn off everything before midnight on day one (inclkuding router) . On day two, after 9am or so - use a different connection, e.g. friend, login to the online usage monitor and look at the figures. Makes sure it says 23:59 of day one date - take a screen print. On day 3 after midnight, you can turn on the equipment and again after 9am look at the online usage monitor, make sure it says 23:59 on day 2 and again see the fiigure and take a screen print.
If there is anything other than a zero increase, there is something wrong. I know a case where the monitor showed almost a 1GB increase, and has not been resolved.
I believe that the momitor is not actually faulty and recording the usage correctly, however I believe the fault lies elsewhere - possibly more than one person's ID being attached to a monitor database and hence the figures added. I don't know if this has been checked or not. I've mentioned it before, but have had no acknowledgement ...

  • Internet over usage!

I have been with Bt for about 4 years now and have always had broad band option 1 which gives me a 10G allowance per month. I have never in the whole 4 years ever come close to exceeding this but today I received a bill for £100 of over use in the month of december! So I rang them up and apprently I had exceeded the 10G use in the first 6 days on December and then continued to over use my allowance by nearly 10 times!!
Thing is nothing has been different in december to any other month, its just me and my partner that each have a laptop each which gets used for about 1 hour each per night! We dont do online gaming, watch HD movies on it or do anything else that could have used that amount of G's! The home hub is always protected so nobody out side could of used it and BT refuse to to even discuss the possibilty that there infomormation is wrong and they want to increase my direct debit to £105 a month because of this! But they wont disscuss this even and told me after the first payment they could reduce it to £75 a month which is still nearly twice what I pay now!
There is no way I have used 110G in 1 month so is there anything I can do?

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Can you pop over to the online usage meter (see my shortcuts options 14d & 14e - hopefully one will work) and see what your current usage is for January.
From your given information, it looks extremely unlikely that you have used that amount of data. You should (in December) have received a 7GB usage email - is there any chance you have had this ?
For information, there have been a large increase in users posting about higher than expected usage recently. I feel that something isn't quite right somewhere.
As Hamish mentioned, your best course of action is to contact a Moderater (click on their username to find the email address) and include your account number and a link to this thread. You can copy/paste a link by clicking against the "1" in "Message 1 of xx" in your original post.

  • Very suspect usage readings from BT

We have just moved to BT from Orange we were with orange for ten years and never once went over our 10gb limit.
After four days using bt we have an email saying we are close to our limit after 6 days we are over our limit. After trying to phone them the very unhelpful people in India basically said if thats what it says then you need to upgrade.
Really how can they honestly say we have used that much in a week when we never used that in a month over a ten year period, to make matters worse the charge with orange a month was free because we had two mobile phones on contract, but the connection was very poor.
We moved to BT because we wanted a good constant connection (it has improved) but now we are being given this dubious reading and we are expected to believe it.
I am hoping I can leave bt as we have only been with them a week and hopefully never make this mistake again after googling this problem there was many many other people on this forum with the same complaint.
My advice stick with who your with because however bad it is it will ten times worse with BT.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
Have you checked the online usage monitor to see what it's currently showing ? See my shortcuts (link below) options 14d-14j to access the meter.
Can you give an indication of your usage, e.g. smartphone, games consoles, tv streaming, catch-up tv, skype video chat etc.
Sometimes various ISPs have non inclusive times which need to be taken into consideration when comparing.
However - there are enough people complaining about high usage after initially joining to indicate that something is wrong somewhere.
