Paper tray problem

Hi experts,
i have this printer problem for a few weeks now..
here's the story:
i installed a new driver for printer ricoh aficio 3235C
driver: aficio 3235C PCL6
device type: HPLJ4000
the printer is working fine but user has requested paper tray should be in tray 3
i changed all the settings to tray 3, in spad output device 'default tray' to Paper tray 3 and 'paper tray info' tick the tray 3 box.
printer settings in control panel were also changed to tray 3
after testing, user claims its still printing in tray 1
so i installed the device type recommended in note 458047
the new device type is ZA001014.
after testing, the user tells me its still tray 1.
what should i check here?
did i miss any settings?
hope someone could help.
thanks!

Hi,
Might be silly,
But ask your users to use the same device type which you have made the settings for taking the print out.

Vamshi.

I have OSX Yosemite on my mac computer and my printer configuration keeps changing.  I have tried everything including removing the printer and reinstalling.  The optional paper tray button (which is not optional in my work!) unchecks and the printer's extra tray is not recognized.  It, therefore, prints whole documents on my letterhead (VERY expensive and frustrating) instead of using the lower tray, as it should.  It didn't do this until recently.  What is wrong with the printer drivers and how can I get it to permanently be corrected?????

    Thanks for these information,
We expect the fix to be released throught one of the ASU, Ill check and keep you posted soon.

  • Workaround for Reader 10.1.2 print "Duplex setting/Printer Blinking/Paper Tray" issue

    Dear users,
We have been receiving feedbacks from our users related to the recent "Duplex setting/Printer Blinking/Paper Tray" problems faced.
A lot of these issues have been faced due to introduction of "Print on Both sides" setting right on the Print Dialog in order to help our users set this option without having to go to the printer properties dialog. However, we have made this option as default ON and hence users have reported problems described above.
Thus, we request you to please try unchecking this setting to OFF state and then print to see if that resolves the problem faced.
    Thanks,

    Adobe Systems

You can easyly solve this with the following procedure:
Open your Windows Group Policy Editor, chose "New Group Policy", go to UserConfiguration->Settings->Windows Settings->Registry. Right click "Registry", chose "new-> registry assistent", local computer, go to
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\AVGeneral]
    "iDuplexMode"=dword:00000002
    (mark only "iDuplexMode" !)
    and click "finish".
Doubleclick that new entry down till you see "iDuplexMode", double click it too, and change the REG_DWORD value into "1" (decimal). At the very top I also chose "replace" under "action" (not sure if really needed)
Close the GPO editor and link that newly create group policy to you domain or OU or whatever.
You can make a "gpupdate /force"at a client to see the reg entry changing from "2" (= dublex) to "1" (=non duplex).
Reboot your clients or just wait your personal "gpupdate time period".
    Thanks Adobe for that setting!
BTW: You can also config that with the "Adobe Customization Wizard X" and save it in a .mst file to roll out your installation with Active Directory software distribution or your favorite tool. Unfortunatly - as it is an entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER - this hive is only load after log in and it is not present during bootup installation, so your setting gets lost.
You can do the same for Adobe Acrobat X, if you need. The Key is:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\AVGeneral]
    "iDuplexMode"=dword:00000002

  • Problems printing when paper tray is full.

    Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my printer [as above].  Whilst the paper tray is full of clean paper, the printer whirrs and clicks but does not print.
The top sheet of the paper on the right hand side as two smudges; one, the forst on the RH side 1" in and 1/8" wide; the second 2and 3/4" in and 1/2" wide. Both smudges about 1/4" high.
I dont want to go prodding and poking about insode the machine without [I hope] someone giving me some guidance.
I havent used the machine a great deal. For a while last year I printed on a blank sheet of some pre-printed weekly Mass bulletins for our local church; that with a few letters is all.
I hope someone can point me in the right way; do I need to clean rollers etc or some diagnostic function with the printer?
    Thanks in advance!

  • HT4356 I have just updated my Epson printer to one which supports air print but consider it to be a waste of money as my printer has two paper trays and there is option to choose which try...just "print"  How can I print photos via AirPrint from photo  tr

    Hi,
First-timer on this...Just updated my printer which was less than one year old, to one which had Air Print capabilities. This one is the Epson XP605 which has two trays, one being for photos. Each time I tried to Air Print a photo, it printed from the A4 plain paper tray instead of the Photo Tray.Twice...then I came into my study and changed the printer settings to Tray 1 (photo tray) Photo paper, size 5x7 and  Photo Best, but still it printed on plain A 4 paper. Would be most grateful for any help, although I did read on one Apple site that AirPrint may not be able to choose trays!!!! "may not"??  Thanks

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

  • Wrong automatic paper tray selection in HP LaserJet M3035 printer.

    Hello,
I have a printer (this one http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF06b/18972-18972-3328064-12004-3328083-2512333-2512337-3435... ) shared in Active Directory by several users (running Windows XP machines). The thing is that no matter how many times I try to set the source paper tray to a specific one, it seems it doesnt apply/store the changes, and it comes back to Auto tray selection  (and it always selects tray #1, which is the one im trying to avoid), causing an issue which needs to be solved by hand.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    1. Go into your SETUP MENU on your printer.
    2. Choose PREFERENCES
    3. Choose DEFAULT TRAY.
Try it and let me know what happens, thanks.

  • HP Officejet 5610 All-in-one paper jam problem

Please is anyone out who can heIp me.
I tried to print a word document from my computer and my printer came up with the following message: Paper jam: clear jam and press ok. I have looked through the printer to see if there is any paper jammed in the printer. I just couldn't find any. This is the first time I have experienced this paper jam problem with my printer.
On pressing the OK button resulted in the printer making some strange noise (sounding as if it is trying to pickup a paper) with the catridge mechanism sliding from one side to the other for about 10 seconds without a paper in the paper tray being picked up. It then shows the paper jam message again and again. It has been the same for the last 5 hours and I need to print some documents urgently.
I have tried all of the following troubleshooting I found on the HP website without any joy.
Step one: Remove any loose paper Remove any loose paper from the input tray.
Step two: Clear the jam from the back of the Allin-
One 1. On the rear of the product, press in the tab on the left side of the rear access
door to release the door. Pull the door away from the product to remove it. Gently pull the
paper out of the rollers. CAUTION: If the paper tears while being removed from the
rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might have remained
inside the product. Loose pieces of paper will cause future paper jams. Replace the
rear access door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place. Press OK to
continue the current print job. If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step. If
the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue to the next step. If these steps
resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists , see the next step.
Step three: Clean the rollers Turn off the unit, and then unplug the power cord. Press in the tab on
the left side of the rear clean-out door to release the door. Remove the door by
pulling it away from the unit. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened
with distilled or bottled water. Rotate the rollers with your fingers to clean all the way
around. Allow the rollers to dry completely, and then replace the rear access door. Plug
the unit back in and turn it on. If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to
continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists , see the next step.
Step four: Clear the jam from the automatic document feeder (ADF) Lift the cover of the ADF.
Lifting the ADF cover Gently pull the paper out of the rollers. CAUTION: If the paper
tears when being removed from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces
of paper that might be remaining inside the product. Loose pieces of paper will cause
future paper jams. Close the cover of the ADF. If these steps resolved the issue ,
there is no need to continue troubleshooting. If the issue persists , see the next step. The
next step couldn't be done because the paper is not loading.

@CAGY, take a look at this HP link on how to clear a jam.

  • HP 6525 Paper Tray

I had no problem setting up the Photosmart 6525 and it printed a test photo and worked fine for a month, but now when I keep getting a message telling me to reinsert or lower the paper tray. The photo tray is on top and the paper try on the bottom. I cannot figure out any other way to reinsert the paper trays than the way they are in right now. Now it will not print from either tray. Solution is probably simple but I can't figure it out. Help.

    @wildcatjim,
The guide is a general reference document which shows the areas to check to try and resolve the error you are receiving. Take a look on Page 37 of your User Guide, I understand you are not getting a paper jam error however the illustrations will show you the paper trays and the cleaning recommendations which may help.

  • PAPER TRAY SUCKS. CANNOT PRINT OUT PHOTOS, TRAY ONLY ACCEPTS PAPER FROM BOTTOM TRAY. GRRRR.

My BRAND NEW (One week from delivery) no longer prints out photos.  It printed out photos several times but 3 days' ago it stopped.
The paper tray is malfunctioning.  Each time I try to print out a photo (remember, it's been done several times until a few days' ago) THE TRAY WILL NOT ACCEPT PAPER FROM THE TOP TRAY!!
SELECTED PHOTOS PRINT OUT ON PAPER FROM BOTTOM TRAY ONLY!!   MY INK AND PAPER IS BEING WASTED AND SEVERAL OTHER POSTERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE HP 6520!
Is one of those infamous 2-hr. long marathon phone calls to Tech Support in India the ONLY way one can sensibly have an HP issue resolved?
    This is ridiculous!

  • Paper tray error message HP LaserJet 1102w

Recently my LaserJet 1102w stopped printing duplex; instead, after printing the first side it gives an error message :  Paper tray needs to be filled.
The paper tray is full, but I cannot get it to continue printing the other side, no matter what.  This has become a huge problem, even when printing single-sided jobs.
    Any ideas?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Once you place the printed pages back in the input tray, try opening and closing the top cartridge access door to rsume the print job and check if that prints the other side.
    Hope that helps,

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless second paper tray under Snow Leopard

He there, I have a strange problem with the second (extra) paper tray from the Office Jet Pro 8500. I have setup the tray and activated the option on the driver page on the computers, but no results. No paper is loaded from the tray and there is an error that no paper is loaded in the machine. The printer is connected via ethernet (and a time machine) and I am running snow leopard on all the machines that are connected to the printer. I have installed the latest drivers from Apple and from HP. I know that the paper tray is working, because when I make a copy on the machine localy and force him to use papertray number 2, then there is no problem.
Does anybody have the same problem?? Thanks

I also just tried connecting my 8500 wireless printer directly via usb and then downloading the HP printer drivers from Apple downloads and reinstalling.
The install hangs nearly forever on the final step, but eventually says the driver install was successful. However, then when connected via usb, I am unable to print. Printing works when you reconnect via the wireless on the 8500.
So connecting via usb and reinstalling HP printer drivers does not solve the issue. And it's puzzling, because the list of supported printers under Snow Leopard lists the Officejet Pro8500 Wireless as supporting both printing and scanning.
    Somebody has it wrong.
If this scanning problem continues very long, I may be forced to uninstall Snow Leopard, because my printer is brand new.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus ...paper TRAY wont close all the way?

My Officejet Pro 8600 Plus paper tray will not return to the proper position. This has happened TWICE now, and always about 3 weeks into using it...
I returned the first printer and replaced it with the same because we love the features and ease of use. But now,  AGAIN??
I tried printing with it hanging out this time..it will print, but ....COME ON!  It makes it real hard to pull out the tray that my paper lays on after printing!
I called HP support the first time, he couldnt help me. Just said replace it.  There has to be something I can do a button or something?  I cant see it..does anyone else know?

Unofrtunately useless information. By trial and error I have found the only way to replace the tray is to lift the entire printer from the front at about a 20 degree angle and then the tray slides in. Very defective design. Never buy another HP.
It is possible you have a defective unit, I would suggest you Contact HP for service.
It may not be any consolation for you, but the tray works fine on my Officejet 8600 Pro Plus.

  • Officejet K550 Pro: Paper Feed Problems

About a year or two ago, we purchased a K550 unit for our office, and 3 subsequent units for employees' personal use.  At first, everything went great - it was the best inkjet printer I or my staff had ever owned!  After a month of great service, my staff and I recommended this product to customers demanding a printer with low cost of ownership and fast, high-quality printing.  However, after about 3 months of service, all of our units began developing paper feed problems in about the order they were purchased, depending on their usage (the older units first, unless they were used more than other units).
It started with an occasional failure to pickup a new sheet during a print job, slowly progressed to having to hand-feed the printer to get it started on a job and supervising the printer throughout the job to clear the occasional feeding problems during the job, and erupted into a continuous hand-feeding of every sheet of every job through all of these printers, all the time.  We immediately replaced, at our cost, all of the 15 customer units, 3 employee units and 1 internal unit that were purchased by us or on our recommendation with other HP devices, even after several customers willingly contacted HP and were sent warranty replacement new and refurbished units that also failed.  The only three K550 printers that remain in service with us or our customers (one in our office and two others with customers who requested to keep the units we replaced) fail to pick up any paper out of the main tray an astonishing 93%, 98% and 100% of the time, respectively.  This is not an exaggeration, these are documented numbers rounded down when applicable).
I've perused many online sites, forums and websites on this topic - both professional and non - and found this to be a common problem with what seems to be a very great number of these units.  Some folks also mention a problem with the K/Y (black/yellow) printhead, but neither I nor any of our customers have experienced this problem.  In solving this feeding problem, we've tried different brands, weights and chemical makeups of paper (HP paper works well, but Staples brand paper of standard weight and 97 bright works best), tried different loading strategies for each paper type (such as fanning the paper before loading and before printing, light, moderate and heavy loads in the standard tray), tried installing a duplexing device (HP OEM of course), tried installing the larger paper tray (also HP OEM) and flashing different firmware supplied by HP - all to no avail.  None of the units have any aftermarket parts, kits, ink cartridges or printheads - everything installed and used in these printers is OEM, except for occasional special papers or label sheets.  So where does this leave us?  More importantly - where does this leave my customers who I prematurely recommended this product to?
We're looking for a solution from HP.  We've tried customer service and have opened several issues without resolution.  I'm tired of my employees and myself dealing with this issue only to be told how to load paper and to flash the same firmware on the same device for the third, fourth and fifth times.  We have 16 defective units in storage and 3 units in partial service for a total of 19 units.  Accounting for these 19 units:  we lightly use 1; we sold and supported 15 of these within our customer base and 3 to our employees, all of which we replaced with other HP products (again, at our cost), and 2 customers decided to keep 1 defective unit each.  As a result, both myself and my company are out big money because of this issue.  We replaced all of our supported K550's with other HP devices only after unsuccesfully attempting resolution with HP.
If there are replacement parts that address and resolve this conflict available, where can I obtain them?  If there is a simple remedy, what is it?  What can we do to mitigate this situation and yield a positive outcome?  The K550 is an outstanding printer in terms of speed and print quality, unfortunately its unreliability due to poor feeding performance and need for constant supervision and user intervention doom this model to the component recycler's scrap heap.  Do you have a solution?  Are you experiencing the same problems?  I want to know!

So, I just typed this nice, long post about my SOLUTION to this problem, and apparently the forum didn't like it and deleted it.  I'll have it up in the next couple days.

  • My Canon MX922 printer has stopped printing because it says the paper tray is empty. Tray is full.

My Canon MX922 printer has all of a sudden stopped printing and I'm getting the error message that the paper tray is empty. The tray is full. I've removed and replaced several times. I've loaded the top feeder as well in case for some reason it was trying to pull from there. I've shut down and restarted several times as well, to no avail. I work from home and this is my own business so it's vital I have a working printer. Any suggestions as to what the problem is or is the printer shot? I've probably had it just over a year.

    Hi nicolej31,
You will want to ensure that there aren't any obstructions in the paper feed path that may be causing the paper not to feed and be recognized by the printer.  With a flashlight or other bright light, please check the paper feed areas of the printer to ensure no obstructions exist.  Once this has been done, please perform a roller cleaning on the unit by following the steps located here.
You will also want to ensure that the paper type and size selected in the printer driver is applicable to the cassette tray that you are trying to print from.  For information on which paper sizes and types to load in each cassette tray, please click here.
    Hope this helps!
