Performance Lag for higher resolution

I have developed a touch based flash application with a resolution of 5120x1440.
There is performance lag in two areas.
1) FPS is low (below 33) and Graphic lag is high (sometimes hitting > 80 ms)
2) Touch response is slow (using touchlib)
I'm using a PC of the following specs.
CPU: Intel i7-4770 3.4GHz
RAM: Kingston 8GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-OC
GPU: 4x Gigabyte Geforce GT630 2GB
PSU: 1000W
Currently, the GPU Load is hitting at most 20% and the CPU usage is most of time below 50%. If I keep invoking the touch events, the app will ocassionally freeze and GPU Load drops to 0% for a while before coming back to normal and app becomes responsive again.
Is there a hardware compatilbility issue? Is there any way to improve on the touch responsiveness?
Thanks...

If the computer recognized the three monitors as three
monitors, and not one really wide monitor, then you could run three
full screen flash programs at the same time, one on each screen,
also syncing them with localConnection. It could be pretty easy to
sync content if you created a movie clip to hold all your animation
(the movie clip can be 4080 px wide) and then animated everything
so that a very wide clip had the entire animation. Then use a stage
with a width of 1360 and move this clip to x positions 0, -1360,
and -2720, each time saving the movie and publishing. If you have
one that sends localConnection cues to the others, then it should
be able to sync things up.
This is much easier said than done of course, as I dunno what
kind of content you're running, audio, video, etc. Plus, I think
you're dealing with a situation where you have a computer that sees
one big screen and not 3 smaller ones, so the second solution might
not work.
You could try a similar thing and drop all of them in a
Director shell, which will do 4080 pixels wide, and use the same
technique, but that could be a big performance hit, and it adds
another (expensive) pieces of software.

    Why is there no scaling for high resolution monitors in Adobe Bridge CC?
    Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and Indesign CC have 200% scaling for high resolution monitors in their preferences panel but Bridge CC does not, when will this feature be added to Bridge CC Adobe???

    Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
    The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
    The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • Panel not resizing for high-resolution monitors

    Received this in an email from a person using an HTML5 panel:  "What I'm seeing on a high resolution monitor (3840x2160) is that the panel doesn't resize to fit its container."
    The container for the panel is appears to have scaled up, but the panel itself is tiny within this container.
    The pixel dimensions on which the panel was built (and what's coded into the HTML for the panel) makes the panel the correct size on "normal" monitors, but it doesn't appear to up rez for high-resolution monitors.  The user can scale the rest of Photoshop's menus and panels using some interface in the OS, but the panel doesn't scale.
    Anyone have any thoughts on this weather or not it's possible to get panels to up-rez for high-resolution monitors?
    Thanks.

  • AIR for iOS: Severe performance drop using "high resolution" published app on retina iPhone

    I have created a very simple test app the simply draws a line from the previous to the current mouse/touch position after MOUSE_MOVE is detected. I published the app, stage size 320x480, in both "standard" and "high" resolution using AIR for iOS and added each to two different iPhones, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4S. I published again, stage size 640x960 in standard and high resolution and placed on both phones.
    320x640 Flash stage size
    - standard resolution on iPhone 3GS: works as expected, no hitches.
    - high resolution on iPhone 3GS: works as expected
    - standard resolution on iPhone 4S: works as expected
    - high resolution on iPhone 4S: hangs occasionally and predictably for a half second or so once 20-30 points have been added to the drawing. Of the 4 tests at 320x640 this is the only one that displays at high res.
    640x960 Flash stage size
    Everything was the same as above. The only test here that diplayed at high res was the high res publish on the iphone 4s as expected. Which showed the same poor performace as above.
    Perhaps this has something to do with the upscaled application trying to keep track of mouse position but I'm stumped. Any ideas?

    I create an app for kids that draws using MOUSE_MOVE, KidFunKit. It's a retina display high-res app, using AIR 2.6 I got performing issues, after I couple of lines were drawn. Using AIR 3.0, it works nice. Obviously if your frame rate is 60 ... you'll expect lack of performance. You may try Starling Framework based on STAGE3D if you want the most of AS3.

  • Make Skype work properly with Windows DPI scaling for high resolution displays

    Hello, As of now, Skype does not work well with Windows DPI scaling. Everything looks fuzzy (fonts, icons, etc).Microsoft's recommendation is to turn off the DPI scaling ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2900023 ) but in this case, the text is too tiny to be read. Basically everyone with a high resolution display is stuck with either tiny of fuzzy fonts, making Skype unusable. It's really a pity because other Microsoft programs such as Office work perfectly with Windows DPI scaling, and Skype also looks great on Mac with Retina display. With high DPI displays becoming more and more common, this is a must have feature. Thanks for reading!

  • Support for higher resolution on iPad?

    I realise the latest 1.2 release increased the maximum resolution supported to 2048x2048 at the expense of the number of layers supported.
    Are there any plans to extend this further, even if it only means supported say 4 layers? Most of my image editing apps (iPhoto, FilterStorm, Photogene etc.) can support my Nikon 12.2MP images without reduction and output at the full size so it seems this is still a limitation with Photoshop Touch which can only support a 3rd of this resolution.

    AndyWhiteford wrote:
    I'm fine with how Adobe hace approached this. My point is I have managed to edit full 12MP images on the iPad in these other apps and output at full size without any issues at all. I appreciate the image size will have a direct impact on the layers supported due to the limitations of available RAM but even if they limited it to 2 layers, you would at least have the choice of being able to edit these images in Photoshop Touch. Even if they disabled layers entirely for large images, it would still be a benefit being able to use this application to edit images as opposed to switching to different apps depending on the task at hand.
    The point I'm trying to hammer home to anyone reading this is to realize the limitations tablets currently have. Sure, you might be OK with being only to edit a few layers when using a higher resolution but are others? Do they even know their tablets' specs? (I bet most don't even know the memory capacity their tablets have.)

  • Increase After Effects System text for high resolution monitor

    I just purchased a high resolution monitor.  The panels and system text (rendering queue, project panel, etc.) in After Effects is now just about microscopic.
    Is there anyway to adjust the default text size on all the panels?

    No, unfortunately not. This stuff is part of Adobe's specific UI libraries and cannot be changed. The main application menu should respect your settings though, as should file dialogs and a few text input fields, if that's any consolation. If possible, simply define a user preset in your graphics card settings that switches screeen resolution and system dpi when launching AE or any other Adobe app. Good monitors have good scaling chips, so it should not look all too shabby and you can always go back full res for pixel precision when needed...

  • Flash for higher resolution displays

    Newbie here (using CS3 Professional...just completed first
    basic tutorial). I've been searching Adobe documents and this
    forum, but haven't found an answer to my question. I'm wanting to
    use flash for a tradeshow digital signage application and I need my
    PC to output a flash movie at a resolution of 4080x768. An external
    Matrox card will divide that resolution over three LCD flat-panel
    displays. I learned that Flash's max stage size is 2880 pixels
    either horizontal or vertical. Any workarounds? or is this even
    do-able?
    Thanks!

  • Mplayer lags at high resolutions

    Setup information: Up-to-date Arch x86_64, Nvidia 8800GT with up-to-date closed source drivers, E6750 @ 3.2 GHz, Asus Xonar DX (which I only mention because in the outputs below you'll see "AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 128.0 kbit/8.33% (ratio: 16000->192000)", and this sound card does support 192kHz audio).
    I recently bought a new monitor, which change my setup from one 1280x1024 screen and one 1024x768 screen to one 1920x1200 screen and one 1280x1024 screen, and now when I try to play content fullscreened it lags much more than it did before.  I used to be able to watch h.264 encoded 720p content fullscreened on my larger monitor, but now It's slower even in a window than it used to be fullscreen.  And fullscreened it's unbearably slow, unless I use -vo gl2 in which case it is slightly less but still glitchy and jumpy.  Normally I use -vo xv, and I tried to use -vo xvidix but I wasn't able to get that to work at all.  I even went so far as to buy CoreAVC Pro and was able to get that to work with mplayer, but it doesn't make anything better.

    Note that the second one lags less and doesn't seem to vary depending on whether I have it fullscreened or not, whereas the former looks about the same in a window as -vo gl2 but fullscreened skips significantly more.
    If necessary I can post more verbose output non-CoreAVC decodes, but I do not think that is the problem as it only skips more when I don't use -vc coreserve.
    I have also tried viewing the file with VLC, which does not fare any better.
    I can't help but think I should be able to fix this problem by modifying the configuration, as it used to work much better at the lower resolution, and when I'm in windows playing this with CCCP and MPC-HC it doesn't skip at all, fullscreened or otherwise.  Does anyone see anything that could possibly be the problem?

    I just rebooted into linux, updated everything, configured the framebuffer and rebooted.  I had it in 1920x1200x32 with vesa, and when I tried to play the same video with mplayer in the framebuffer two noticeable things happened: 1) the video only took up the upper left corner and I could not maximze it to the full screen size, and 2) it still lagged.
    I backed up my xorg.conf and reran nvidia-xconfig, which seems to have changed nothing... it still lags no matter what vo I use.  Here is my xorg.conf:

    EDIT: I just tried switching from twinview to xinerama with nvidia-settings (just a GUI xorg.conf configurator that comes with nvidia drivers) and now things play FINE when I use -vo gl2.  However, compositing no longer works, and things look all-around cruddier.  So I think the problem here is twinview...  That makes me pessimistic about ever seeing improvement...
    EDIT2: I think I just solved the problem.  All I did was enable "Sync to VBlank" in the nvidia-settings configuration menus "X ServerXVideo Settings" and "OpenGL Settings".  Now when I run with compiz DISABLED, things work fine.  If compiz is running, however, it runs as cruddily as before, with all the tearing.  This is not a huge issue however, as I am fine with disabling compiz whenever I want to watch HD content.  I believe the key point here was that I needed OpenGL to sync to vblank, and XGL does not have this option (as far as I am aware), so it will not work as well when I am using compiz.

  • QuickTime SDK for Windows ICMCompressionSessionEncodeFrame crashes for higher resolution cameras  2 MP

    I implemented a while ago a H.264 re-encoding to output H.264 QuickTime .mov file usng QuickTime Window SDK  7.3.0.70. The code uses ICMCompressionSession to compress the frames going into the container. The code works fine with cameras with resolutions up to 2 Megapixels (1600 x 1200). The crash occurs in QuickTime API call. Here is the code to compress the frame:
    CVPixelBufferRef pixel_buffer = nil;
    int nWidth = (**pixMap).bounds.right - (**pixMap).bounds.left;
    int nHeight = (**pixMap).bounds.bottom - (**pixMap).bounds.top;
    CVReturn ret =
    CVPixelBufferCreateWithBytes(kCFAllocatorDefault,
                                 nWidth,
                                 nHeight,
                                 k24RGBPixelFormat,
                                 GetPixBaseAddr(pixMap),
                                 3 * nWidth,
                                 NULL,
                                 NULL,
                                 NULL,
                                 &pixel_buffer);
    //.....code ommitted for clarity
    // set image data into the pixel buffer
    CVPixelBufferLockBaseAddress( pixel_buffer, 0 );
    // Feed the frame to the compression session.
    m_OSerr = ICMCompressionSessionEncodeFrame( compressionSession, pixel_buffer,
            displayTimeMsecs, displayDurationMsecs, validTimeFlags,
            frameOptions, NULL, NULL );
    //unlock the pixels
    CVPixelBufferUnlockBaseAddress( pixel_buffer, 0 );
    CVPixelBufferRelease(pixel_buffer);
    The call to ICMCompressionSessionEncodeFrame fails either  with
    1. Error code -108
    memFullErr = -108, /*Not enough room in heap zone*/

  • Workflow Agent Listener Service - Performance tuning for high volume

    We have AR and Collection which initiate thousands of workflows. We also have various other workflows that run parallell activities. We have workflow backgrond engine schedule as Y,N,N for each of the item types.
    It takes many hours for the workflows to progress. In some cases the background engine stays running on the current manager for hours when it reaches flow steps that take longer. It looks like the Workflow Agent Listener Service processes a single flow at one time which is killing us when longer running processes are running. We run 1 Workflow Agent Listener Service with 30 threads assuming it would pick up and process 30 items. It is very hard to tell if we have improvement.
    Does anyone have any information on the following-
    1) is it better to have more than 1 Workflow Agent Listener Service or is 1 sufficient?
    2) is there a benefit to having multiple threads?

    Please mention the details of the application release, database version and OS.
    Can you find any errors in the workflow/database log files?
    Any locks in the database?

  • Reconnecting for Higher Resolution

    Hi
    I'm working on a project in which the film has been scanned in as an Apple Pro Res file, 1920 x 1080
    I've edited the entire thing, thinking my settings were in HD, but it turns out I've edited the video as 720 x 480 (yeah I know, dumb thing not to notice)
    I've tried looking around at any tutorials for reconnecting media, hoping that it would read the HD file and make my edited timeline HD
    I've made a new timeline with HD settings, and copied my 720 timeline into that. The videos are now very small on the screen. I could always physically drag the video and make it bigger, but I'd be afraid if I exported that as 1080, it would drastically lose the quality.
    Is there anyone who can help with what I'm trying to do, and have FCP detect all the in/outs of the original 1080 file, and match them with the 720-video on my now-1080 timeline?
    I apologize if that got confusing at any point I feel like I repeated myself

    HI -
    On the copy sequence you made, click on the timeline and type Command + A to select all your clips.
    Then control click on any one of the selected clips and from the drop down menu, select Remove Attributes. From the Remove Attributes window that opens select Basic Motion and Distort (if it is bold and clickable), then click OK.
    Your clips should now resize themselves to the correct size, if you have set the sequence settings correctly.
    Hope this helps.

  • I want to buy high resolution mu

    I made a search on this before posting but didn't find what I was looking for. I bought the Audigy 4 a while back and really enjoy the performance and quality. When I bought this sound card it came with a DVD 24 bit music sampler. I've been shopping on the web and in?stores for high resolution music (24 bit, or "aiff" format)?and can't believe I have found none. Is it me?not looking at the right place or is this not available on the market yet?thanks?

    The only "hi def" music you'll find will be super audio CD's and DVD audio "CD's". I doubt you will find anything in an uncompressed format online as that would take up way too much storage space and bandwidth.
    SACD's are "better" because they offer an enormously high sample rate. 2.xxx MHz, I can't remember the exact rate. It also has a bit rate of only . DVD "CD's" (which aren't CD's at all) can hold more data, so the songs can be recorded in a much higher sample rate over conventional CD's. You won't, however, be able to play them on normal CD players, and it would be impracticable to rip them to your computer.

  • Hp2311x higher resolution with Acer Aspire TC-105

    Hello
    I have a new Acer Aspire TC-105 purchased, now do the following problem that my screen resolution can not be higher than 1366 x 768. In my previous PC had to choose. No problem for higher resolution
    I have the latest drivers geeinstalleerd, I get the message C: \ Monitors \ HP_2311_3.0 \ HPX64DRIVE.EXE access denied
    I press ok
    He just goes to the HP installer I press following normal message, click finish then nothing happens with my display adapters. The only thing I see is the Compaq W185q Wide LCD Monitor that's not him, and I can not select him for another montitor the HP2311x
    Higher resolution will be nice.
    What am I doing wrong

    Since you are reverting the patch, you need to indicate that the patch should be reversed on the command line. So if you saved the patch from git as constrain-cursor-harder.patch, for instance, you would need to modify the PKGBUILD so that:
    constrain-cursor-harder.patch is in the source array
    The patch's md5sum is in the md5sums array
    The patch command line specifies that it's a reverse patch (the -R is important):
    patch -RNp1 -i "${srcdir}/constrain-cursor-harder.patch"
    Unfortunately, the patch from git no longer reverses cleanly against xorg-server 1.11.4.
    I've made an updated version of the patch that should apply cleanly, without a need to be reversed, here: http://moe.isisview.org/patches/xorg-se … rder.patch
