Personal Oracle on an iMac under Soft Windows?

Has anyone ever used or seen Personal Oracle on an iMac running under Soft Windows or similar? If so, what did you think of the performance?

Mark-
As BB said, you would definitely need an emulator such as Virtual PC to run that software on the Macintosh platform.
I do not believe that any of the Windows emulating products on the market can achieve the performance level that has been specified as a platform.
Unfortunately you will need a PC.
Perhaps you should make lemonade out of the lemons and try to at least get a nice laptop or something to do the PC work in, while sitting in front of YOUR Mac?
Good Luck!

• Personal Oracle 8i does not install in Windows ME

Yesterday (8/5/02), I downloaded Oracle8i Personal Edition Release 3 Version 8.1.7 for Windows 98.
(took five hours on a DSL line, which is why I didn't go for 9i which is twice the size) File psoracle81798.zip
I get an error message indicating that there are no products for Windows 95 available. I am using Windows ME which is a repackaged version of Win 98.
If not this, what product would be apropriate for Window ME?
Thanks

Hey
Are you seeing any error messages at all? How's your internet connection for other apps/websites?
Try downloading the installer using an incognito window in Google Chrome.
Let me know if it still doesn't work!
Thanks :)

• Installation Problem Personal Oracle 8.0.4 on Windows 2000

When trying to install Personal Oracle 8.0.4 on a Windows 2000 machine, i get an Error:

No previous installation of Personal Oracle is present on this machine as it's a newly installed OS.
Any Help would be appreciated

I tried installing Oracle 8i Personal Edition in Windows 2000. The installer loads and it start installing the files, except when it goes half way through the installation, it quits. I don't know if this is a bug in 8i Personal Edition or not. Because I am unable to install the software on my machine.

Hi, how are you?
I read your file. On my computer, I got the same problem. First I installed Personal Oracle 8.15 version under window 98. The oracle home is e:\orale\ora81. Then I installed Form 8i in the orale home e:\oracle\ora. After installation, there are two SQLPLUS. One is under ora81 and another is ora. The one which is in e:\oracle\ora81 is working and it can bring up the database. Another one and Forms don't work. They can not connect to the local database. It means my client which is under e:\oracle\ora can't connect to my server which is under e:\oracle\ora81. I think I shoud set up the connection in tnsnames.ora by using Net8 Easy Config. I did it. It failed. Can you help me?
Thanks.

No, you shouldn't have to to.
If you have Personal Oraacle 8 running properly on your PC, then you can just connect to the database from Developer V6 using your normal username/password. For example, if you log on to SQLPLUS as scott/tiger, then the same will work for your forms and reports. You don't even need to enter a connect string. I have it working OK on a Windows '98 PC, with Personal Oracle 8i, and Forms v6i.

• Running intel imac under windows?

i just bought a new imac intel dual core and im extremely new to the mac world and not to great with computers so i was wondering if i could get some help with this.
i was reading up on some forums and found out that the imac's with the intel technology can run in either windows or mac OS X and i just have a couple questions right now.
1) how do i get my mac to run under the windows OS?
2) is it possible for me to switch between the mac and windows OS's?
i would really appreciate your honesty.

I am going to set up my iMac, on Saturday, to run Windows. I was originally going to purchase VirtualPC but out came BootCamp . . . Give it a read. Switching between the 2 OS's does not really happen. You boot off of one or the other, however you can move files (again, check the restrictions [30Gig]) between the 2 OS's.

• WebDB for Windows NT for Personal Oracle 8i

I have Personal Oracle 8i installed on my notebook and would like to install WebDB for 8i for training purposes. I have a older O'Reilly book about WebDB.
Is there an archive download for WebDB for 8i still available?
This is a similar question to Ashok Harnal about Windows 2000.

Sandy, I am up and good to go. I had no problems with getting Oracle 8i running after I removed and then reinstalled the app - with the automatic programs in my system tray DISABLED or TURNED OFF. If Net8 Config Assistant and Net8 Easy Config did not load during install - you will not be able to get the application running, although after install you receive a message stating that these two files are recommended but not required. Remove and then reinstall Oracle with your tray(bottom right of the taskbar) items disabled. Good luck!
