Planned cost correct in value category, problem in actual cost after GI

Hi,
I have maintained cost elements for value categories for material. The cost comes correctly under value category. After doing good issue of this material. The cost comes in maintenance order actual cost. But it does not appear under value category expected (it should fall in same value category as planned cost). Please suggest on this.
Regards,
Vijay

Hi,
The value category / cost elements combination is corret & this is the reason why the cost comes in proper value category in planned cost when the material is reserved.
But when the material is issued, it does not come in same value category under actual cost head.
I believe there are no different settings for planned cost & actual cost related to value category & cost element.
In my understanding, if the cost comes in planned cost then it should come in same value category in actual cost.
Please correct if I am wrong.
Thanks

  • Early confirmation of activity - Problem with actual cost updating

    Hi Guys...
I have trying to find out solution with trail and error basis but.....
    The issue is :
Network activity  - Planned duration 100hrs
periodic confirmation taken place .... no problem... actual cost also updated accordinly,
at one point of time, realised that activity is completed with 70hrs effort only.
then I have updated 100% completion.
what is the twist here is:
though I have completed 100% of work with 70% of actual hours,  however, system display actual costs equals to 100hrs.
I can not reduce planned hours equal to actual hours. at the same, I would like to see my activitiy completed with 70 hrs and actual cost equal to 70hrs of effort only.
is there any enhancement there so that we can have both display planned 100 hrs and actual as 70 hrs.
    and costs also.
Looking forward to hear from the gurus and thanks in advance
Shal award points for appropriate answer.

    Hi,
One probable solution would be using User status which will block additional confirmations. At the point when you know that work is completed within planned hours, set this user status so that no more confirmation is possible, at th same time user will come to know that activity is completed.
    Hope this helps.

  • Burden Cost shows as Financial Item in Workplan Actual Cost

We are burdening Cost in Project Manufacturing. When Actual Cost shows in Project Management it is displaying Raw cost as Labor and Burden Cost in Financial Item row as unplanned cost. Any ideas? During the planning it is correct --- Burdened Cost.

    Hi Connell,
For your first question, you have to set the correct parameters in the file menu, options for the earned value analysis. Select the appropriate Baseline (Baseline 1) and the physical % complete:
Then you are talking about a chart. What chart is it? Have you first checked the BCWP column in MS Project Pro if you do have values before exporting data? Also have you set the status date? Do you have work resources with a standard rate?
For your 2nd question, depending on your Project version, you can use the visual report (2007, 2010, 2013) or the report feature (2013) using the cumulative fields (actual cost, Baseline, cost...).

  • Cost of producion item not related to actual costs of items isued to prod

I have a scenario where a production order for producing a quantity of one of a specific item has been created and released. The Planned quantity of the unique Item used for production in Components Tab is 10, the  Issue method is Manual
In Issue for production screen the quantity recorded is 12, 2 more than the planned
Then the receipt for production has been recorded for 1 item.
Valuation method for all involved items is Moving Average
The system behavior expected by myself was the cost of the produced item was the cost of the component multiplied by 12. However the cost the system calculates is the cost of the component multiplied by 10.
While the Summary of the production order shows Actual Component Cost as multiplied by the Actual Product Cost is just multiplied by 10
    Some ideas here?
    Julio

    Suda,
Many thanks for your answer. I will try to explain the business scenario and why I think the cost should be different . In my explanation the sequence of actions and people performing actions is relevant.
    1. Product Engineering clerk determines producing parent item will require 10 components and based of that the BOM is created by Product Engineering clerk with 10.
    2. Production planning clerk creates production order based on BOM
    3. Production planning clerk releases the order
    4. Production clerk (the actual performer) requires 5 components to raw material warehouse (nothing recorded in SAP)
    5. Warehouse clerk 1 (at raw material warehouse) gives 5 components to production clerk. Warehouse clerk 1 uses Issue for Production transaction to record 5 components issued to production order
    6. Production clerk identifies that for this specific production order 10 components should not be enough so for finishing the order requires 7 components to raw material warehouse (again, nothing recorded in SAP)
    7. Warehouse clerk 1 gives 7 components to production clerk. Warehouse clerk 1 uses Issue for Production transaction to record 7 components issued to production order
    8. Warehouse clerk 2 (at finish goods warehouse) receives the item produced and uses Receipt from production transaction to record 1 item received
From 4 to 8 actions the interaction is just between production clerk and warehouse clerks. It is not expected warehouse clerks neither production clerk have access to modify production order details. They just record what they do.
At the end of the day the reality is that this specific product just produced costed more because more components were used (think the components can be kilograms of a substance or even pieces that can be with some defects just identified at production). And yes, there is a variance between the original order details and the actual components used. All this is shown at Order Summary Tab.
But if the product is been valued using moving average method why the real components issued to production are not used to calculate the cost of the finished product and rather the "planned" components are been used?
I have tried the option you mention. To modify directly the order but to issues arise from here.
    a) Every single time some extra components are required the Production planing clerk has to updated the order?
    b) If we do so no variance is reported and no action can be taken to avoid this variance.
    Your thoughts?

  • How can I crosscheck Total Planned/Actual Cost in MCI3 (S061) correct?

    Hi Masters,
I want to crosscheck "Total Planned Cost" and "total Actual Cost" in MCI3(S061) - Location and Planning analysis is correct or not.'
In my current system I am trying to compare the Orders in IW39 and MCI3 but costs are not matching.
I have done some analysis and found that the costs are updated in S061 from PMCO.
But for same Orders in months e.g August I am getting posting for July,August and Semptember.
So I am not sure how I can compare the values of "Total Planned Cost " and Total Actual Cost" in S061 to IW39.
If it is possible to compare what selection criteria I should use for fetcing the Orders from AUFK or IW39. Which dates are I should used ( Date range - Period, Basic start/end dates, Actual start/End Dates).
    With Best Regards,

    SAP- Manufacturing.

    Hello,
Comparing the MCI3 & IW39 cost figures is not right as per my knowledge.
S061-->following below logic for calculations for Actual Cost and Planned Cost
Total planned costs for PM measures
Sum of planning costs for PM measures
This key figure will be updated when a PM order with a time reference is created and changed at the starting date of the posting period, in which the costs were created.
Total of the actual costs for PM measures
This key figure is updated with every cost-relevant transaction for a PM order (for example, completion confirmation, material withdrawal) for the beginning date of the posting period, in which the costs were created. For historical orders, the key figure is updated when creating and changing a historical order with a time reference to the starting date of the posting period which was determined for the reference date of the order.
Total of actual costs for companyu2019s own material for PM measures
This key figure is updated for every cost-relevant operation for a maintenance order (for example, time confirmation, material withdrawal).
For historical orders, the key figure is updated when creating and changing a historical order with a time reference to the starting date of the posting period which was determined for the reference date of the order. The key figure update is important from a business point of view only when a material removal is made.
Total of actual costs for external material for PM measures
This key figure is updated with every cost-relevant transaction for a PM order (for example, completion confirmation, material withdrawal) for the beginning date of the posting period, in which the costs were created.

  • Difference between value category and cost element

Hi I am new to SAP Pm.can anyone explain me the difference between value category and cost element and how are they linked with examples

    HI Pallavi,
Value Category are use to devide your total cost in to diffrent elements for example Material, External Services, Internal Services etc. If you dont have any value category configured then all cost will show together.
Cost Element are the cost collector where your cost will be booked means different cost under different Elements.
So What you need to do You need to create one Value category Like material or any thing then you need to assign all Cost Elements which will be used to book cost related to Material or that perticular category. You can assign Cost Element directly, range or as a group to these category under SPRO.

  • Actual cost not correctly displayed for material consumed in an order

    Hi All,
I have an issue which is as follows:
In a service order, I have consumed 13 materials for which I am able to view the list of goods movement with its amount and plant and storage location.
For each goods movement system has generated material document, accounting document, controlling document, etc.
However system is not displaying the actual costs of all the 13 materials consumed within the order. Only one material cost is dispalyed in actual cost of overview tab of COSTS tab.
Incidentally, when I clicked the "Rep. Plan/Act." button, system is displaying the actual costs of line item wise material consumption.
Kindly let me know what could be the reason for this error.
    Many thanks in advance............ JK.

    Kannan,
If the "Rep. Plan/Act." costs are correct, then you have problems with your value categories
Have a look at the following correction programs:
Run TCode OLI5 to correct value category errors (program RIPMCO00)
Run TCode OLPM to re-build structures (program RIPMS001)

  • PS - Report on Planned v/s actual cost of the project

    Hi,
I have a client requirement on the above subject. In Report S_ALR_87013542, Under actual cost the system is taking both the Revenue and Actual cost booked on the project. Is there any other report wherein the system shows only the actual cost booked on the project so that planned V/s Actual can be compared.
    Rgds,
    Prasad

    Hi,
You can also refer the report S_ALR_87013543 - Actual/Plan/Variance Absolute/Variance %. This will give the reports based on cost elements. Morever plan cost Vs actual cost can be obtained from Project Infosystem report (CN41/ CNS41).
In fact the report S_ALR_87013533 is a hiecherachical report for plan & actual cost of project.
If the system is calculating wrongly both revenue & actual cost under actual then you need to check Cost elements asignments & value category details.
    Hope this will help you.

  • PLANNED AND ACTUAL COST IN A PROCESS ORDER

From where the planned cost of material and activity types in cost itemizationafter creation flow ?From where the actual cost of a material and activity types in  cost analysis of process order after confirmation flow?

You may be knowing you give Costing Variants ( Both actual as well as Planned ) in Order type. These Costing variants contains Valuation variants which says which costs are to be taken while creation ( for Planned Cost ) and Actual cost ( while confirming and Moving Goods) to be calculate. These Variants decides mode of Cost Flows.
Now, Data in Planned costs are Standard Cost figures or Current prices for material or Planned Prices of Activities.
As far as Actual costs are considered it may be the price for the consumed quantity @ the moving average price of the day or activity price for the qty. consumed which include up planned consumption too.....

  • CO-PC Cost components are not assigned when actual cost was posted

    Hi Expert,
I estimate material cost by Tcode CK11N, the result is cost components were assigned to plan cost. It's okay. But, I have a problem when posting actual cost.
After actual cost was posted by confirming backflush, I run Tcode KKBC_PKO to check again, but Cost Component field is not assigned to actual cost.
    Please tell me the reason.

    Hi,
    Thank for your answer.
I will check Cost component Structure, and ensure that all cost elements were assigned.
Additional, cost components were assigned to PLAN cost, but not assigned to ACTUAL cost.
Do I have to configure something more?

  • Permit not assigned for Actual cost

    Hi Dears,
Permit not assigned for actual cost in maint order
Actual cost in maintenance order is 3000
In IPMD, cost1 is assigned with class ACTUAL COST and value 3000 is defined.
In OIPG,  Permit class ACTUALCOST is assigned.
Goods issue done to order for value 3000.
Again cost determination executed, but still cost1 is not assinged to the work order.
    Am i missing anything ?
    Regards,
    Alagesan M

    Hi
In charac CT04 i maintained one value 3000 and table maintained CSEVPERMIT and IKOSTEN
In class CL01, assigned the charac for 049 class type
In OIPG, permit class is maintained with class
In IPMD, new permit created and assigned class in classification and maintained 3000
Now order created and component assigned the planned value is 3000.
through MIGO goods issue done and found the actual value is 3000.
But still opened the permit found nothing assigned.
For Estimated cost and planned costs it is working good only for actual cost permit is not assigning.
Actual cost we need to anything more other than this ?

  • Actual Costing/Material Ledger (CO-PC-ACT) - Actual costing

    Hello,
I have same problem with actual costing in material Ledger.
When I perform the actual costing a price differences that belongs to materials (orders) which at the end of the period are WIP, remain not split and don not book them on Accruals and defer.acct(material ledger) (OBYC - Transaction LKW).
Moreover,  in the following month, system does not taking into account the value.
Does anybody had similar problem or  knew how tu handle it?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Rafal,
there is a functionality built into acual costing to cover this:

  • Actual cost  is not  seen in the  variance calculation KKS2

    Hi
I   did  variance calculation of  a Production order  ( after  telco)  .  Its a co - product.   The  target cost , actual cost and  allocated cost   fields are present  after  execution.   Now  the  actual cost  field is   blank  and  so   the  variance is not  correct.
Pl  advise on  why  the  actual cost field is not  populated with  the cost.
    Thanks
    kamala

    Hi
KOB1  shows the actual cost .  I do  TECO  for the PO and  calculate  Variance for co-product material,  and  the  actual cost is showing at  zero.  But   then i  do  settlement  KO88,  and  the   variance amount  gets posted CORRECTLY and FI document is generated.
So  why is the  ACTUAL COST  field   ' ZERO'    in  KKS2,  but    KO88   settlement  shows the  variance amount.
It  there some different logic  to  do variance calculation  for   PO   involving  main product  which have  co-products  in it.
    Thanks for  any inputs
