Playstation 3 (PS3) error 80029564

Hello, I've been having a problem downloading games and game updates on my new Playstation 3. I've been researching the problem from the Sony side, but as far as I know it could be a problem from the Verizon side.
The error number 80029564 comes up while installing, and tells me that the data is corrupt. In each case, the error comes up at 14% installed.
My Gear:
I have a brand new PS3 that I just purchased a few days ago.
I use Verizon FiOS for internet. I have a combo modem/router model no. MI424WR-GEN2, hardware version E, firmware version 20.19.8.
What triggers the error:
I usually get the 80029564 error when I try to download a game or install an update.
For example:
Little Big Planet 2 - finally did work on about the 4th try.
Rachet & Clank: All 4 One - I've tried several times, and it always gives me the 80029564 error.
Also, we bought Gran Turismo 5. It has 21 updates. It never makes it past update 10.
Attempted Solutions (that failed):
Some things I've tried in my effort to fix the problem:
- switched from wi-fi to ethernet connection
- safe mode - rebuild database
- set firewall to Low
- switched DNS to Google IPs
- verified that uPnP is enabled on the PS3 and the router
- set up DMZ for PS3 IP
Still, problem not fixed. This is very frustrating, we've spent more time trying to get games to work than actually playing anything.
I'm hoping there may be other FiOS customers who have tackled this problem and can help me out with a solution!

Thanks for the information. I don't have a solution yet. I thought about trying the premium tech support, but the links I've found to it are broken.
The link about the NAT table issue is interesting. It at least gives me the idea that I should check out the router log for errors that might give me a clue.
I've thought about just calling Verizon and asking them to send someone out, but I'm more than a bit concerned about what kind of bill I might get from Verizon for that. Plus, I thought about trying the premium tech support, but the links I've found to it are broken.
I don't know how to resole your issue, since I have no PS3 myself, but the link, at least, I can help with: http://www22.verizon.com/home/expertcare/
Also, I can almost guarantee that a truckroll to fix a gaming system issue would be expensive, and potentially futile. It is unlikely that a field tech would be familiar enough with the PS3 to be of real help. (Though you might get lucky. It's just outside of their normal scope of support.)

Yes but I have had no reply, I have looked at some stuff and what seems to be common is its either a wireless issue which is not relevant to me as I use wired or being restricted by the router I do assume they are talking about the firewall which I have disabled. I have set up my DMZ again and enabled always use this ip address on the router to give my PS3 a static ip and left everything on my PS3 network settings all on auto. I hope it works.
What I have disabled on my Home Hub 4 is the firewall and upnp extended security in vain hope it opens my connection more, I have tried port forwarding but it does not seem to make a difference. I get moderate NAT on black ops 2 with port forwarding set and any other set up I do except with DMZ with either static or dhcp then I have open nat. So it could be the Home Hub 4. I am confused.

I got Modnation Racers today and it asks to be updated to 1.11. I download the update and then it automatically installs but finishes with "An error occurred during the install operation" 80029564.
After the error I deleted the download and tried again with no luck, I also restarted the PS3 and reset my router but I still get the install error. I still have 107GB free on my HDD

  • Playstation 3 Error 8002D23

    Hello Everyone
Over the past week i have been getting this error on my Playstation 3 which has been disconnecting me from the Playstation Network once per night. This error is caused by my connection but i can't find anything wrong with it. This error says that a disconnection has occured because my connection is either slow or busy. Here are the details of my connection. (Playstation 3 uses ethernet cable and test was done with ethernet cable too)
I want to post my event log as well but is it safe to do that?
[Just add as well that the hub itself is not disconnecting]

Firstly -  I'm not a PS3 user, but I can't see anything wrong with those stats. In fact I'd love to get anywhere near 67 days!
Secondly - So you still get this error message over a wired (ethernet) connection?
Thirdly - You can send me a PM with the event log if you want. Then I'll see if there's anything that shouldn't be given out on an open forum.

  • PS3 error: "An Ethernet cable is not connected" with E2000

Problem: My PS3 displays An Ethernet cable is not connected almost immediately after logging in. I am connected through a Linksys E2000 router.  If I reset the cable modem, it will work for 10-15 minutes until it errors out again.  If I plug the PS3 directly into the cable modem, it works fine. I'm really confused.
    1. I do not believe it is the router, as my computer is also connected to the router, and works fine. My Touchpad is connected wirelessly and also works fine.
    2. I do not believe it is the PS3, because it works fine if I plug it directly into the cable modem. I tried switching to wireless and it finds a lot of other signals (including mine), but I have the same problem if I choose wireless.
I first had this problem with a launch PS3 and a Netgear router after almost three years of no problems. This was back in November 2010.  I replaced it with a Linksys E2000 router in January 2011, and a slim PS3 in late September 2011.
I had no problems from January until last weekend.  I have tried to do the DMZ trick, but no luck. I have also tried to set the primary and secondary DNS to 4.2.2.1.
Does anyone have any insight? If I need to buy a new router, I will, but I don't understand because it works for my computer and Touchpad.  Is it something crazy like when November comes, my internet settings get corrupted?

Try using the DHCP reservation feature to give your PS3 a "static " ip outside of the DHCP server range. So something above the range called "IP Address Range". 192.168.1.150 should be good, but you can check to confirm that this address isn't in that range.
Make sure your PS3 is set to obtain the network information automatically, NOT through a custom setting. Also, make sure your PS3 is turned off completely before doing this.
Could you also give us a screenshot of the "signals" tab when you go to 192.168.100.1?
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • PS3 ERROR - Could not print because the disk is not available...

This error message is appearing when printing to Colorburst RIP from PS3.
It started all of a sudden.
I can print to the Epson standard driver with no problem.
I can drag a file into the Colorburst RIP and it prints fine.
It's an issue from PS3 it seems.
Any idea what is up here?

  • 8002A548 PS3 Error On BT Infinity 2.

I got BT Infinity 2 and everything works well except my PS3 - I keep getting this error. I know its common with wireless connections but I get it via a wired set up. My router is the BT Home Hub 4, I have disabled the firewall, set up a DMZ. I get NAT Type 2 on my PS3 and when this error occurred I went on the web browser (Which worked) everything else on my network runs flawless even when this error occurs. I have opened my network as open as possible.
What I have tried so far is -
    Manual set up on PS3
    Auto set up on PS3
DMZ with static ip (Manual network set up on PS3) (The home hub uses Mac address instead of ip for DMZ)
DMZ with DHCP (Auto network set up on PS3)
    Wired
    Wireless
Used safe mode and rebuilt database
I really have no idea what else I can do. I exclusively used a wired connection with a manual network set up on my PS3, static ip and DMZ until this started happening. The only thing I see is my Ethernet is slightly damaged on the outer part of the cable and some nicks and the like as its a long Ethernet as my bedroom is upstairs and my router is downstairs. Like I said it only happened recently and I set up my router config and my PS3 as open as possible. I am at a loss, like I said the only thing I can see is my Ethernet which is kinda damaged. Would this be my issue?
    Kind regards.

Skype is a service. And for most users, a free one at that. The revenue from it comes from people paying for the premium services such as inbound numbers, which are very unlikely to be users basing their presence on video game consoles. Given the climate of the next gen releases, it is in Micorsoft best interests to give their console offering a certain exclusive. No matter how small. In short. Comparing Blu-ray to Skype is rediculous. Just write it off as a shame that business is business.

  • DNS Server Error (80710102)

I get this error alot when trying to sign into playstation network on my wireless system at home. I use to get it alot also when I had a linksys wrt54g router and I recently replaced that with a netgear Wrn2000 router. Apparently lots of people have this issue (based on google search) Any ideas on what I can do to straighten it out? Most of the time unplugging the router then plugging back in fixes it but there's gotta be a fix for it I would imagine.

  • Wait... Installing...

I am translating into English the message I published a few hours ago in the Spanish forum. That's why the screenshots are in Spanish. Hello, A few days ago I had trouble installing Gran Turismo 6's last update, having no other option than disconnecting the console as it was freezed with the screen in black. I restored the console to factory settings and tried to update its system, but when it restarted to begin with the installation of the update, it just stopped working. I had to call the technical service and send it for repair. Yesterday, 4:00pm approx. After a week of waiting time, my PlayStation was back. Well, not exactly mine, but a refurbished one. At least the outside part seemed to be new, because it had plastics on the shiny part and the disk tray. I don't know how it is inside. Yesterday I inserted the Gran Turismo 6 disk into the console and it started to download game updates, exactly 12 of them. After a long wait, they finished downloading at midnight, more or less. After that, the next screen appeared, but the remaining time was only 3 minutes. I did wait for like 30 minutes and the screen was still the same.  Wait. Installing... Do not turn off the system while the Hard Disk access indicator is flashing. Time remaining: 270 min.  Because of this, and because the console had been turned on quite an amount of time, I pressed the PS button in order to go back to the menus and turn it off. Curiously, the console did beep once and it restarted, without consequences, fortunately. I turned it off in the normal way and I went to sleep. Today, 9:00am approx. This morning I woke up and I turned the console on, and the screen shown is the one from the picture above. At the beginning, the remaining time is like 200 or 400 minutes, but then it reduces to a few, less than ten, but they never end. Today, 10:45am, I update the situation   The installation process has stopped and the next screen is shown.  Error. An error has occured during installation. Accept. When I accepted, the installation process started again. I fear I might be in a loop. Let's see If you can give me some advice or suggestion because I don't know how to act, and I want to play the game soon. Again, thank you in advance. If you speak Spanish, you can answer me here.

Hi .Sorry to hear of your troubles.    Yes that HTTP 403 error seemed to affect quite a few people over the weekend.Hopefully things have calmed down since. Not sure what you mean by 'pausing during game play'.But I would have perhaps had a go at a couple of Safemode functions before deleting the install, just incase any HDD issues were able to be solved that way. Anyway, let's see if we can move forward. So it sounds like you deleted everything okay and successfully re-downloaded the game. But then hit trouble with the updates. It also sounds like you've had a decent read of some of the tips, which is good.I'm still a fan of establishing that the game is running as it should on v1.00 before proceeding. And I'm still a fan of the XMB update option as opposed to doing it in-game. There is a new PS3 FW update available ... v4.66 (I think)Just make sure your console is fully updated as well. Regarding the step approach for updates. As you can probably guess, I haven't had to do it for GT6. (cross fingers, touch wood, etc)So I can only assume it still works the same way it did a few updates ago. By that I mean that once you're all set and ready to start downloading the updates, you should see it is done via multiple files.(it will probably will tell you 1 of 13 when you first start)So the idea is the first file will download, and it will then install.Once done it will move to downloading 2 of 13, and again once that's downloaded move onto installing 2 of 13. You are able to stop the download process after any file has downloaded and installed by pressing 'circle'So if you wish, you can watch file 1 of 13 download, then install, and then see it change to file 2 of 13.And then once it's begun downloading file 2 of 13 you can press 'circle' to cancel the update process. You've now effectively updated one patch. You can then play GT6 (either offline or by cancelling any prompts to sign-in) and check you've advanced to the next version and the game is playing as it should. Slowly you can creep up on being fully updated to v1.14. Here's the patch sizes so far :The list below is my best knowledge as to the size of each update file.v1.01 = 1.2GBv1.02 = 1.2GBv1.03 = 99MBv1.04 = 214MBv1.05 = 100MBv1.06 = 295MBv1.07 = 961MBv1.08 = 1.4GBv1.09 = 598MBv1.10 = 2.1GBv1.11 = 30MBv1.12 = 484MBv1.13 = 9.5MBv1.14 = 548MB You can use this as a guide to know how many 'files' at one time you wish to download and install before cancelling the update process.I mean there's probably not much point going one update at a time for v1.03 through to v1.06 as they are all quite small, so you could do them in one hit.Be wary of v1.09 as it contained some physics changes and they altered all the cars default settings to accommodate the new physics. The install is quite demanding because of this.  Another option you could consider is using the consoles 'Backup' function. It's effectively like creating a restore point on a PC.You copy your PS3's HDD content to an external drive (that includes game data as well as save data)So let's say you get to v1.09 successfully.Downloaded, installed, and game is playing as it should.File size for v1.10 is over 2GB.Perhaps you might consider backing up the HDD before going any further with the updates.Saves you starting from v1.00 again should something go wrong downloaidn or installing the big file. Anyway, just a thought. Here's a post I did about it earlier if you are interested in trying it.http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Gran-Turismo/Gran-Turismo-6-installation-error-80029564/m-p/22651880/highlight/true#M159948  Hopefull there's something in this post that you'll find useful. If I'm off-target or you have other questions let me know. Otherwise best of luck with it and hopefully things run smoother for you next time you try.

  • Firefox opens mobile pages on desktop

Certain sites (such as www.gamespot.com.au, and Facebook depending on how you get there) open in their mobile versions. It's been doing this for a while, and is extremely annoying.
I'm on Firefox 13.01 at the moment, but like I said, it's been going on for a while.

Looking at the system information aside your user agent string is showing as
    * ''PLAYSTATION 3; 1.00''
Are you using Firefox from playstation PS3 ?
You may get a better answer on a playstation forum, or you may be lucky and get a reply here. I had heard Playstations could use IE but I was not aware they could use Firefox, unless they are hacked.
I would make a guess that changing the User Agent String may solve the problem.
With ordinary Firefox installs on a Desktop Computer the the user agent string may be changed manually, or by using add-ons, but I do not know about PS3 installs.
No idea if any of this may help
