PM8M-V no beep no boot Solid Red LED

I've had the PC I've been using for about 2.5 years, no problems.
Last week a lightning storm killed all the AGP/PCI functionality of my old motherboard. At first, I thought it killed my AGP video card because the internal video to the old motherboard worked fine. This is where I decided to buy an MSI PM8M-V from CompUSA.
Tried installing the board today. I literally just powered down the PC with the OLD Board in it and it all was working fine. The two motherboards seem to be similar in quality and both have internal sound and video.
With the new motherboard hooked up when I press Power the CPU fan comes on, and the LEDS on the front of the tower come on. The RED LED [Which I believe is the HDD LED, will have to double check] comes on and stays lit. After about 20 seconds or so the system powers down. I get no beeps or anything. I doubt any of the components are bad because they were all just working 1 hour ago.
Does this point to a specific problem? I don't think the CPU is overheated as I have thermal paste the Heatsink fits snug.
Suggestions?

Ok, an update.
I have an Antec PSU 300W that appears to be working well.
At the moment I have 1gig of unknown brand DDR memory
I have a P4 Prescott 3.0GHz [I don't recall any of the other details as this PC is several years old]
All hardware pulled from a perfectly working system with the exception of an AGP slot on the old motherboard.
The old motherboard has nearly the exact same features and appears to be of very comparable quality.
I hooked the old motherboard up with the processor, memory, and same PSU and it booted to the BIOS just fine.
This new MSI motherboard WILL NOT boot to the BIOS with the exact same equipment installed. I have double and triple checked.
Is there anything else I should do before contacting CompUSA for a return. I've seen some recommendations about jumping pins to clear the CMOS or something.

  • Playbook will not boot - solid red LED for 10s

My Playbook went dead last week.  Put it on the wall charger for many hours and the thing will not boot.  Now, all I get when I plug it in to the wall charger, or computer USB cable is the LED lights up red for about 10 seconds, then nothing.
I can't find this behavior listed anywhere on any site, and of course my complimentary BB support has expired.  Help me out before I bring this brick back to the store.

Actually, the web page you need is here: http://us.blackberry.com/support/playbook-support/contact.jsp
I called, and apparently, the 90 commplentary support starts when you register your PlayBook, because I was able to get a support ticket from the friendly voice on the other end.
Also, I gathered that Blackberry would handle any warranty returns themselves (though you'd probably need a proof of purchase/reciept).
I had to run to a meeting, so I'll have to call back.  Problem not solved yet, but progress.

  • HELP! BB Pearl 8130. Solid Red Led Light. Won't go away.. HELP!

My LED has turned a solid Red color. It's on all the time and is only off when I pull the battery out. My phone does still charge. I've done everything to get rid of it even wiping my blackberry and upgrading the software. I read something about Blackberry Music Gateway? I do use my pearl to listen to Pandora everyday and iheart radio with a 3.5 cable that plugs into the dash of my truck, but it never did this before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Justin

Justin, so you've wiped the device completely and reloaded a new OS... still does the same. Anytime the BlackBerry is powerd on, the LED lights up RED?

  • 8830 Will not charge, shows solid red LED when connected

I plugged my phone in to my wall charger Saturday night as I always do-Sunday morning the phone was dead and would not turn on.  It shows a solid red light on the LED.
I cannot seem to get it to charge.  Briefly, the charging battery icon showed up on the screen, but now it went out.  Just sitting there, every once in a while the LED goes out.
Help, anyone?  I've tried taking out the battery and reinserting both with the phone plugged in and not.

I had same problem except I discovered that as long as I did not let the battery fully die, it would charge with no issues. But if it died completely, I would get the red light briefly, it would go out and then lightning bolt on battery would show up but no charge at all.

  • G5 Power Mac won't make it through boot sequence, red "LED #1" on w/o power

Recently I bought a new LCD monitor to replace my big ol' CRT. The other day I brought it home and plugged it in. I thought I'd leave the CRT plugged in while I was at it to see if the video card would support both monitors. I'm hoping that the following is coincidental...
My G5 has not made it through the boot sequence since. The computer starts > moves through the white rotating apple "clock" > transitions to the blue progress "Mac OS X is starting..." window and freezes there. Once when doing an NVRAM reset it made it to the login window, but no mouse/keyboard response. Then, regardless of how far it gets, all the fans start running at full speed and it sounds like I'm at the airport behind a 747.
The worst news is that "LED #1" is on at all times regardless of whether the computer is on or off. The support site says to take it to a repair shop. I'm wondering a couple things:
    1. Has anyone been able to fix this issue w/o taking it to a repair shop?
    2. Has anyone had this issue and have an idea of what I'm up against w/o an ACPP?
Thanks for any help at all!

Thank you for the suggestions. I tried everything and then had to put up the white flag. The only thing I could do was to run fsck and find I had a good disk.
Took it to the local Apple dudes (Haddock Computers - great guys) and they isolated the power supply as the issue, and... determined that there is a replacement program for them. Posting with the machine now, good times.
    Thanks again

  • ActionTec GT 701C Internet Light Solid Red despite DSL Light Solid Green - How to fix?

    Hello
I can't get my ActionTec GT701c to get online in So Cal.
I get a solid Red Led on Internet.
    DO I reset the Modem?
Go to the panel and do something there?
    What shall I try?
Thank you for any tips and tricks.

Hey sands2k2, there is a reset button in between the Ethernet port and the power cord connection on the modem.  You will need a paper clip or pin to press and hold the reset button down for 20secs then let it go for it to reset.

  • PT880 Neo 4 red led, Need your help please!!

    Hello all
It is my first post and I need your help. Today I purchased a combo P4 3/800 E Box CPU, MSI PT880 Neo FSR Mboard  and DDR 512MB 3200 VS Corsair 400Mhz 184 Pin Dimm from Fry's Electronic. I can not get my system to boot , no beep but only 4 red led and nothing on the screen. I used on my system Enermax 300W with DVD burner, DVD player, 60G HD, SBlive 5.1, ALL in Wonder Radeon 32Mb..After I am following all recommendation in the defferents Topic, I have no luck it won't boot. The 4 red leds are still on. Help me please thank you
    Brono85

I've just got my Noisetaker 470watts too, it has the same rails as CoolerGiant , but I like CoolerGiant's active cooling system for both CPU and PSU , just that it's too lengthy and my chassis was small in size .
Back to the topic, likewise anr11 mentioned, you may need a BIOS flash and you can use Memtest86 to test your RAMs out .

  • For Red LED's What does it mean

I don't have my manual  and every once in a great while when I trun this beast on my puter locks no video no sounds I mean beeps but just for red LED's
My mobo is kt266 pro 2
    tbird 1700+
    kingston 512 CL 2.5

    Here what manual says :
"Processor might be damaged or not installed properly or damage/Discharge Lithium Battery"
The battery, it refers too, is on the motherboard and keeps the adjustments on the Bios when you turn off the computer. Since the motherboard is new I don't think that it could be damaged or discharged. Check your cpu (processor). Ensure that it is properly cooled and that it didn't crack during the cooler installation.
You can download the manual from this site for more information. There are manuals for all models.

  • ASUS P6X58D Memory OK (MEMOK!) issue  DRAM LED Stays solid red.

    HI
This morning when I turned on my computer, it would not boot. Not even the most basic boot (I could not get to the ASUS bio DOS screen, for example).   It would only sound  one beep, and then finally a second beep-- but the second beep did not sound immediately thereafter. .  Usually, I recall, I hear two rapid beeps almost immediatley when I boot up.
I did some checking on the net.  It appears to be a memory issue. I reset my memory in their slots. But that did not help.
I saw the on the ASUS motherboard the DRAM LED light was solid red.  After checking the manual (and checking some YouTube videos), I pressed the MEMOK! button right next to the DRAM LED light.
According to the manual, when using WIndows OS  the system will reboot as it does its "Flashing lights" test to try to use a memory failsafe setting.  However, even after reboot the red light stayed solid and appeared not to do the testing.
Perhaps I am not doing the test correctly.  For example, do I keep my finger on the MEMOK! button throughout the tests and reboots??  Or just press once, and never press it again.
ASUS USA support appears to be closed today for the New Year's holiday.  So I am wondering if anyone here has some suggestions.  My memory was working fine up until this morning.
I suppose I could wait until tomorrow when ASUS phone support is live again, but thought someone might have some suggestions / tests I can do today.
    Thanks

    Well I fixed it.
Not sure exactly what I did that fixed it, but here is what I did.
    1)  I unplugged the computer.
    2)  I disconnected the power supply from the motherboard.
    3)  I removed the battery.
    4)  I let it sit for about an hour.
    5)  I pushed the motherboard reset button on the back of my computer (I perhaps should have done this first, but I did it.)
    6)  I put a new battery into the motherboard (perhaps the old one was dead or a zombie.)
    7)  I reconnected the power supply to the mother board.
    8)  I plugged in the box.
    9)  I heard the familiar two beeps, and sure enough the unit booted up.
Upon bootup the ASUS screen had me to into bios and double check everything.   Then it all rebooted again, and opened windows 7.
I will make sure I have the lastest ASUS bios.  But I see that it is recognizing all 24 GB of memory, so I guess I am good to go.

  • BEFW11S4 reflash firmware with solid red Diag?

Is it possible to reflash the firmware on a BEFW11S4 (I believe v1, there is no v# after the model number) with a solid red Diag LED? I cannot access the HTML control panel since the router never fully boots. I git this used and didn't know it was **bleep**... Thanks.

You need to access the router's setup page to do the upgrade or in your case, to reflash the firmware. If you're currently unable to establish a connection to the router (i.e. no IP address) then do a RESET. Once the wired client grabs an IP address from the router, ping the router's IP address. Proceed with accessing the setup page if the router sends out replies. However, if the request times out or if the ping results show "hardware failure" or "media disconnected" then this may mean that the BEFW11S4 is bricked.

  • Black screen on boot /w four red LEDs on D-Bracket

Whenever I go switch the power off on my PSU and turn it back on, and after pressing the power button on the front of the computer it doesn't post it acts as if I kept pressing the reset button.
The D-braket shows 4 red leds (which means damaged/not installed processor).
But if I hold the power button to turn if off, then I turn it back on it works flawlessly!
Am I doing something wrong? I didn't have this problem before.
    Specs are below....
    BioHaz

I did a Google search and found this below...
This happens to be my exact same problem, it happens when you turn on the PSU switch then turn on the computer immediately after that. It seems like you just have to wait.
    Is this a common problem?
    Should I worry about this?
    Quote
The old black screen on boot up with four red LEDs on the D-Bracket
    is a fairly common problem.
So far I've only seen four fixes for the problem.
    1.  Defective motherboard (Although this is seldom the problem)
    2.  Power supply is defective, or you forgot to connect the four
wire auxiliary power connecter to the motherboard.  The auxiliary power
connecter must be connected for this motherboard to work.
    3.  Your reset switch is stuck.  Disconnect the reset switch from the
motherboard, then try to boot up.
    4.  This one is weird.  It fixed my problem, however, based on the
troubleshooting you've done, I don't hold out hope it will fix yours.
For some strange reason, some MSI motherboards will not boot
if you've just plugged them in.  Plug in the computer, make sure
the power strip and the switch on the power supply are all in the
"ON" position, then go grab a beer.  After waiting a couple of minutes,
    turn on the computer.
I know it sounds weird.  But I have the same motherboard and CPU.
If I turn on the power strip and attempt to boot my computer immediately,
I get a black screen and four red LEDs.  If I turn on the power strip and
wait a minute or two, the computer boots up every time and works
    perfectly.
    Hope this helps.

You can't do that in ACR, but you can if you open it in Photoshop and use the crop tool there.
