Polycom Group 500 Multiple Lync Video calls simultaneously

So I have a new Group 500 unit all working as expected,  apart from when I try to call multiple Lync 2010 clients at the same time.  First one connects fine,  but subsequent calls just ring out, and the client never gets notified that I am
calling..  If they start a conference call, and invite the unit in,  all is fine..
Any help ?...

Hi,
Please check if Polycom Group 500 is properly configured. To do this, go to Diagnostics -> System -> System Status and check for errors or warnings. Make sure all options are green.
Please also check if Polycom Group 500 update to the latest firmware, it not, update it and then test again.

  • Polycom Group 500 - Bluetooth Mouse & Keyboard

    Hi,
We have a customer who has purchased a couple of Polycom Group 500 units with the RTV license which I must say I'm really impressed with. They have requested a couple of bluetooth mouse and keyboard's to use with the units, will any set work or is there
a tried and tested model I should go for?
    Thanks

Thanks Jeff, that's what I suspected as I couldn't find reference to it in the setup guide.
Do you think the chap who wrote this blog was just lucky that his Bluetooth mouse and keyboard worked? http://janzoetemelk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/unboxing-group-series-500.html
I tried a cheap and cheerful one I had lying around and it didn't work at all.

  • How long can lync video call stay active?

I tried to setup 2 client and wanted to see how long they can keep active with the video call
    The 2 clients are Linux UBUNTU 12.xxx + ICA 13.1; Lync server/client 2010
I connect to 2 different desktops from the 2 clients, video call one between each other
It kept alive for about 2-3 hours, and then the video call is terminated by itself with message e.g. "the user has no response"...... the desktop connections are fine
I tried at least 3 times and it is always the same result
Any idea if this is one of the lync limitation e.g. video call can only stay alive for 2-3 consecutive hours?

There is no hard set limit.  The video call could potentially go on indefinitely assuming no outside (ex: network or client issues) interference.

  • Polycom group series 500 Lync issue

    Hi,
We are having a Polycom group series 500 device and currently facing the below mentioned issue, if any one has used this device appreciate your response on this matter.
    1. we have already activated the Multipoint video conferencing and Lync interoperability protocol on the device. We are able to get only a peer to peer Lync video call, Lync video conference
is not allowed (we cannot add another Lync user to an ongoing Lync call)
    2.
This device can join to a Lync video conference hosted by another user, but video and voice not working (it shows that device has joined the conference but no audio or video)
    T
      Thanks,
    Kanishka.

Jeff Schertz may chime in if he sees this, but if we're talking VVX500 devices I'll add that it's not supported with Lync 2013.  You posted in a Lync 2010 forum, but I wanted to mention this in case you're running Lync 2013.  VVX to VVX video calls
may still work in a 2013 environment, but as soon as that call hits a full Lync client or server (and it will as soon as it's a full conference) you may see trouble.

    UCS 5.0.0
Note: The support for Lync video calls with UC Software 5.0.0 is limited to the following scenarios when using
    Lync 2010:
In Lync 2010 environment Point-to-Point video calls between VVX 500/600 IP phone and another VVX 500/600 phone is supported.
Point-to-Point video calls between VVX 500/600 and
    Lync Client 2010 are supported.
Video Call transfers and Call forward from Lync Client party to another user with VVX 500/600 or vice-versa are supported.
Video sessions between a registered remote user and a video capable in-premise enterprise user (VVX 500/600 or Lync Client) are supported.
Video call sessions between federated users with endpoints as VVX 500/600 or Lync Client are supported.
Video calls in Lync 2013 environment are
not supported due to lack of support to H.264 or RTV in UCS 5.0.0.

  • Polycom Group Series video resolutions in Lync conference

I've noticed that two Polycom Group series devices that have the Lync Interop licence installed provide good quality (1080p) video calls when making a point to point lync call but if the same two devices connect by joining a Lync conference, by
joining via a calendar appointment for example, the resolution drops to 640x368
I documented my findings in a quick blog
    http://1plex.co.uk/polycom-group-series-testing-lync-2013/
anyone been successful getting the devices to connect at a better resolution?

Thanks Thamara, thats a great shout, I did look at this but didn't think it was relevant as I found this definition of the parameter below - maybe the issue is that the Group Series don't get classified as 'Lync Server 2013 clients' and it treats them
as legacy clients. I'll look into it a bit further - thanks again
MaxVideoConferencingResolution   This parameter is no longer used for Lync Server 2013 clients in Lync Server 2013 conferences. Lync Server 2013 conferences use the bit rate controls described earlier in this section. This
setting is still used for legacy clients joining a Lync Server 2013 conference. This parameter determines the maximum resolution allowed for legacy clients in conferences organized by users who are homed on Lync Server 2013. That is, legacy clients are treated
the same as they were in previous versions of Lync Server or Office Communications Server

  • Lync 2011 Mac Book air Video calling

I cannot seem to get the Lync video calling to work on the Mac Book air, I have tried a few different copmputers but the video button in the client is always greyed out - am I missing something or trying to do something that just doesnt work ?
I tried MAC > PC, MAC > MAC - none of which work, PC > PC is fine.

    Hi,
If you use the USB vedio device, please restart the Lync client after you plus the USB device in the PC.

  • How to do a group video-call (more than 2)?

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to do group (more than 2) video calls with facetime?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to group by on more than 2 columns in a view.
You can use Data View Web Part in SharePoint Designer and add some changes & additions.
For more information, you can refer to:
Group by for more than two columns in SharePoint list

  • Multi-person Video calls

Is it possible to easily use FaceTime or iMessage to do multiple person video calls? I believe the original version of faceTime allowed this but now it seems I have to go through iMessage and get everyone on a Buddy list and it very cumbersome; I could not get it to work.
Apple does not seem to advertise this as a capability so I am assuming it is not possible.
Am I missing something or do i just need to try a different program or app, like Google groups or something?
    thanks

I have seen split Pic in Pic video like like and solved it the same way Rj does Restart iChat.

  • Group Video Calling

Is Skype Premium to tool I need to have group video conferences for multiple offices.  I want each office to see all other offices during the conference and I need to control and pay for the entire package from one account.  Does it include Skype Manager and is it $9.99 per month for each office location or account.  Example if I have 5 offices is it $9.99 per office.  Can we also do desktop/screen sharing for document collaboration with this package.

Hello MerwynJohn. With group video calling you can get Send file, contacts, share your desktop, take a picture, or add people to the conversation. All everyone needs is the latest business version of Skype, a laptop and a webcam. Itʼs simple to use, group video calls can be between three or more people (up to a maximum of 10), and at least one person on the call needs a group video calling subscription. For the best quality, we currently recommend video calls with up to five people. For group video calling everyone on the call needs the latest version of Skype for Windows plus a webcam. You'll also need a high-speed broadband connection (we recommend sustained 512 kbit/s downlink or more) and a computer with a 1 GHz processor (minimum) or Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz (recommended). We also recommend a minimum of 1 GB memory and 2 GB memory for group video calls with up to five participants. I hope this answered your questions. If you have anymore just post them and I'll answer them for you. Beowolfv

  • Skype Premium after Free Group Video Calls

The short version of it: Either
Good Decision, now refund your loyal paying customers; or
Poor Decision, it should remain a pay-only product.
Which one is it going to be?
    The long version of it:
Okay, Skype, I think there will be a flood of people coming in here and also people flooding the e-mails and live chats of the support team. So since it looks like nobody is going to put it up for talks, I guess I'm going to do it - what's going to happen to us who paid for a month... a few months... or even, like myself, a year of Skype Premium? Are we getting pro-rated refunds?
I know there will be someone from the Skype team that will redirect everyone to the "Refunds are eligible for those who haven't used the service yet" support article, but what about those who already paid and are now publicly notified that the core feature of Skype Premium, Group Video Calling, is now free? I've shelled out on almost $500 of Skype Premium gifts to my friends (over $100 of it to myself), each for a year of Skype Premium. What does that mean for us? What does that mean for you if you did something similar... or just had a year of service for one?
Be advised, folks, I see nothing that says that when Skype Premium is discontinued, no refunds will be offered. This means the Skype team can do as they will. If they do the wrong thing, however, then maybe their competitor (and I'm talking about the big, blue G) might have more worth in the end.
    Don't disappoint your customers, Skype.
Are you affected by this change? How muc hdid you pay for Skype Premium and what's your length of subscription? Is it still going to be active the next month and probably the month after? Let's all let the Skype team know what's going on and how we feel about it.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Summary: Skype eventually refunded my money into my bank account, after an ordeal though!
Initially, Skype had given me pro-rated Skype credit on 9-May  from 1-May to the year on. But I don't use Skype credit at all, so there wasn't much I could have done with it. The only reason I had premium was to make group video calls.
I contacted Skype and the Customer Service Executive (CSE) told me that since it has been more than 14 days from the transaction date, a refund could not be made. I had to explain that that credit was useless to me, I had not received a notification of such a transfer and if I should onsider my £20 donated to Skype. I was told that, "... because you are a loyal customer, we'll refund the money into your bank account and it will reach you within 3 - 5 business days"
I left a really nice feedback for that CSE, since I was satisfied. But, then I received an email saying that as the amount of $20 (note the currency mixup), had already been added to my Skype credit, there was no monetory refund needed. My head blew up!! This was not only deceiving but also a company backing out on its word.
Following that, I contacted Skype again. Re-iterated the entire scenario and mentioned how the first CSE had lied to me. After almost 30 mins of debating, I got the same "loyal customer" dialog and a confirmation of refund (again). But this time I was skeptic and the feedback wasn't equally good.
After 3 days I got the money in my account.

  • Lync 2013 Mobility Client - Video Call Issue (Everything Else works).

    Hey Technet’ies,
I have been struggling for a couple of weeks now to resolve one of the final issues with a Migration/Upgrade Project on Lync Server 2013.
I have nearly every Lync Client Scenario working well except the Mobility Client (outside of the domain) which cannot successfully complete a Video
Call to a Windows Desktop Client (inside the domain) – the toast pops up, but when we click accept - it just times out after 15 seconds
    K
    The strange thing is every other Video Call scenario works;
    Mobility Client (Outside Domain)
    àWindows Desktop Client (Inside Domain)
    = Unsuccessful
    Mobility Client (Inside Domain)
à Windows Desktop Client (Inside Domain) = Successful

    Mobility Client (Outside Domain)
à Mac Desktop Client (Inside Domain) = Successful
    Mobility Client (All Scenarios)
à Mobility Client (All Scenarios) = Successful
    Our setup is pretty standard;
All OS servers are Win Server 2012 R2
    Lync 2013 Standard FE Server
    Lync 2013 Edge Server
Reverse Proxy IIS AAR (Also Win Server 20012 R2)
Lync 2013 Desktop Clients, Lync 2011 Mac Clients, IOS and Android Mobility Clients – all latest versions.
External NAT (via Cisco Routers ACL’s)
Internal Windows Firewall Currently off on all Servers
All Certs / DNS Configured as per Technet Recommendation
    I have reviewed / analysed a number of log/trace files – looking for some/any information on the problem;
    Mobility Client (cmlogX.log)
Windows Desktop Client (*.etl) / Microsoft Message Analyzer
    Lync 2013 Server (CSController)
With all my looking I could not make out an error except a timeout (15 seconds) on the Mobility Client log (which I currently can’t find).
Clearly we are missing something and I have gone up and down our implementation a number of times, the only semi-unknown is our old 2010 Pool / Central Management Server (which is currently pretty much redundant but the majority of users still on).
I would really appreciate any feedback anyone can provide or any insight anyone may have on this challenge.
    Thanks in advance, Alex.
    Alex

    Hi Andrew,
    Thanks for the quick contact!!
    Sorry - typo in my post, I have now corrected it;
    Mobility
    Client (Outside Domain) àWindows
Desktop Client (Inside Domain) = Unsuccessful
So I completely missed that blog post of yours (out of the 100's I have read) and you are the first person to clearly say (in simple terms) to point the lyncweb.contso.com to the public IP address on my internal DNS, I have just made that change and see
if it will correct the issue - will wait for replication.
Also I am running IIS / AAR as Reverse Proxy (not ISA) and had the Internal DNS Host A of lyncweb.contso.com and lyncdiscover.contso.com point back to my Reverse Proxy Internal NIC (i.e. 10.1.1.32) as the External NIC is isolated on in the Perimeter Network,
    is this correct?
So it now goes like this
    *Inside Domain*
    lyncdiscover.contson.com --> 10.1.1.32 (Reverse Proxy Internal Nic) --> 10.1.1.26 (Front End Server)
lyncweb.contson.com --> 201.183.0.1 (Reverse Proxy External Nic - Public IP) --> 10.1.2.16 (Reverse Proxy External Nic) --> 10.1.1.26 (Front End Server)
Does this make any sense, I know ISA and IIS/AAR are pretty much interchangeable.
Thanks again Andrew and look forward to any feedback,
    Alex.

  • Polycom 7000 video call to 7960

I have configured our call manager 4.1(3) and 3745 router to place calls form
a 7960 phone to a polycom 7000 video conf unit using h.323 gateway and gatekeeper on our 3745 router.
the call connects fine and even shows the user name on the polycom screen.
To accomplish this i created a h.323 device in the call manager pointing to the polycom 7000.
the gateway and all video endpoints and call managers are registered to the gateway.
all calls are using the gatekeeper in and out of the public network.
I have dial peers for the h.323 to and from public network for my call manager controlled phones and my PRI circuits.
All of our circuits and phones have been controlled via MGC so devloping this has been a real learning experence.
    Problem
I would like to place a call from the polycom (h.232 id bloomfield7000 e.164 4337580) to a 7960 or the public network.
seems i would need some dial peers but not sure where to go.
any help finding examples to look at would be great
    thanks
    Jeff

    Paul,
I removed the h.323 phones and went with the h225 trunk and that worked great. i can call both ways now.
    another question
i have an mcu tied to a pri to a 3745.
the 3745 also has a pri to SBC.
i can place a video or voice call from the MCU back to its self through it's PRI.
i can place a voice call from MCU through PRI to 3745 through the SBC Pri.
But i can not place a video call through the SBC pri.
If i place the mcu directly on the SBC pri i can make video calls. From the debug i see the call as unrestricted digital.
Not sure what needs to be done to allow video to pass from pri to pri out to the public network.
some setting or command on the dial peer perhaps ?
    Thanks
    Jeff

  • Why in 2014 do we still not have group video call ...

I wanted to fire up skype on my tv to get to use a cam at all, but i can't since the darn skype app still has no group video call, only group voice calls...
When will that app be updated to support it?

It seems foolish to use Adobe's video products when they can't produce output.  (Yes, I know one can use Encore CS6 with at least the current versions of Premiere "Pro" CC, but I trust there are few who would consider it a reasonable workflow.)
Easy output workflow if one has the need for DVD
Export MPEG 2 > Import to * Encore> Output DVD.
    * Middle step can be replaced by DVD application of choice.
    What's the problem?
