Portal logoff : Redirection or Close the Entire Window

Hi Folks
I need some clarity for the below scenario.
I have two login pages as
                 1.Default Login page
                 2.Custom Login Page
On clicking the LogOff  in my Custom Login Page,  it should take me back to my CUSTOM login page not to the Default.
But the portal takes me back to Default Login Page.
Can any one provide some pointers over this. where to do the modification inorder do proper redirection on logoff....
Thanks
Kumar
Points will be awared for sure.

Hi Eliel
Dear Friend
I totally agree wat u said , but i tried that option too, where i found RUNTIME ERROR happening....
i hope you are talking abt this below function , am I rite ?
//Get the external logoff URL
private String getExternalLogOffUrl()
   return UMFactory.getProperties().get("ume.logoff.redirect.url");
// Here i tried this way  as you pointed...but it didnt work...
return UMFactory.getProperties().get("www.google.com");
MoreOver if you look into SAP Notes 696294, where they mention as similar to ur suggestion.
From SAP Notes 696294:
To enable this feature, set the following UME properties:
ume.logoff.redirect.url=<url_users_are_redirected_to_after_logoff>
ume.logoff.redirect.silent=[true|false]
Set the second parameter to true if the URL is to be called silently in a hidden iFrame
I tried this way too, but fail to succed.
But My Friend , i found another work around where i am successful...
In the HeaderiView.jsp , down below the logoff operation
modify the Form as like below ,
*<form name="logoffForm" style="display:none;position:absolute;top:-5000;left:-5000" action="http://www.google.com" method="POST">*
*     <input type="hidden" name="logout_submit" value="true"></input>*
*</form>*
It worked for me ... Try it out....
Post me your comments over this...
Thanks

  • Portal logoff vs. browser close

    Hello,
    I am facing an issue with the SAP MSS iViews (running on EP6.0 sp2 patch2).  If a manager with a large span of employees drills down into his org and picks an employee, the general info for that employee shows.  Then, if he logs off using the logoff link WITHOUT closing the browser and another manager logs in, this manager see the other manager's employee.  The second manager does not have the employee in his org span!!!  I have tried killing all the cookies that I can get my hands on:
    old = new Date(0);
                   cookiedomain = document.domain.substr(document.domain.indexOf(".")+1);
                   SetCookie('MYSAPSSO2', null, old, '/', cookiedomain);
                   SetCookie('JSESSIONID', null, old, '/', cookiedomain);
                   SetCookie('urn:com.sap.pct.hcm.orgmanagement:CurrentObject', null, old, '/', cookiedomain);
                   SetCookie('urn:com.sap.pct.hcm.orgmanagement:CurrentObject', null, old, '/');
    None of this helps me any...
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hey Johnny,
    Basically what I did was to set the cookie
    urn:com.sap.pct.hcm.orgmanagement:CurrentObject = someTypeOfObjectId
    to
    urn:com.sap.pct.hcm.orgmanagement:CurrentObject = ""
    This was done in the Header.jsp of the masthead iView in the Javascript that's called for the EP logoff - look for a Javascript logoff() function.  I just used one of the standard cookie Javascripts (Google) to set the cookie value to "" with path "/" and the current domain.
    Okay, now that I've told you what I did... I'll also tell you that this is a very HACK solution and I don't recommend you do this.  Looking back, I think it better to implement Frank's solution.  Put Javascript in the logoff() function that closes the browser window when the logoff link is clicked.  This is much cleaner than what I did and this way you guarantee all session cookies are killed...
    Let me know how things go,
    Mike

  • I always have many tabs open in FF, and rely on it restoring them each time I close/open it again. Sometimes I'll have a second window open and will close the main window first, losing a record of tabs I had open. Is there a way around this?

    Seems like when FF restores a session, it restores the session of the last window open. If you use tabs as a way of keeping a list of things to do or look at, you have to be careful if you have a second window open to close the second window before your main one, or you will lose your list. I'm absent minded though and do this all the time. The only way to prevent this is bookmark all my tabs once a day, but I tend to forget to do even that. Any workaround for this?

    When you re-open Firefox and choose Restore Session, by default it picks up your most-recently-open window, and the other windows should then show up in Recently Closed Windows.
    The Firefox add-on Session Manager lets you manage how many closed windows and closed tabs are saved, in case it's not enough.

  • When I have the downloads window open and I close the browser window, how can I get the browser to open the homepage the next time I start it while the download window is still open?

    When I have the downloads window open and I close the browser window, the next time I reopen the browser while the downloads are still going, it returns me to the last page I was on. All previous versions of Firefox would return me to my homepage which I would prefer. Please let me know if this is possible.

  • Closing the Forms Background Page closes the Java-Window as well

    Hi,
    we are running Forms 10g and start the Applet in an separate window. This cannot be changed, because otherwise we lose some size of the Window and the Look and Feel is to different as with Client-Server mode.
    If a User closes the Background-Window or starts a different URL in the Background-Window, the Java Applet is closed directly without any warning.
    This isn't nice for the Users, but they have to live with it.
    But if I'm running a couple of Forms-Sessions in the Applet maybe with Database-Locks as well, and somebody closes the BG-Window, those Forms-Sessions (frmweb.exe) keep running for ~ 5-10 Minutes and the Locks are kept as well.
    Is this behaviour intentional or can it be changed ?
    Any comments are welcome.

    Hi Craig,
    in principle I agree that it might be a training issue, but ...
    the default setup for the IE at this customer-site is that Links don't open in a new window. We may change that, but who knows.
    With this setting, the following happens quite normally.
    Forms is started which leeds to the "Background-Window" and the Java-Applet.
    If i minimize all windows and start f.e. Citrix or any other URL-Link, that link is opened in the Background-Window and the Forms-Java-Applet dies.
    In theory this can be avoided by training, but I do not agree, that it is a reasonable behaviour to check all open windows before I start a new URL.
    It just doesn't make sense in my opinion. It might be difficult to solve, but it still doesn't make sense.
    But we've found a solution ourself at least for the accidential closing of the Backgrund-Window :
    In formswegh.cfg we had a line like :
    =======
    HTMLbeforeForm=<_p align=center><_b>nicht schliessen</_b></_p><_p align=center><_b>sonst wird die</_b></_p><_p align=center><_b>Anwendung abgebrochen !</_b></_p>"
    =======
    we added an onBeforeUnload so that it looks like :
    =======
    HTMLbeforeForm=<_BODY onBeforeUnload="return ' Achtung Anwendung wird geschlossen !'"><_p align=center><_b>nicht schliessen</_b></_p><_p align=center><_b>sonst wird die</_b></_p><_p align=center><_b>Anwendung abgebrochen !</_b></_p>
    =======
    This leads to an "Is it OK"-question as soon as the BG-Windows is closed or another URL is called. This prohibits the Users of accident closing. If they still do it, it's their fault and than it is a training question.
    Thanks for your input and maybe this help some others as well.

    P.S.
    the underlines before the p's and b's need to be deleted. Just because they are interpreted as HTML otherwise

  • Using separate_frame=true and trying to close the applet window after...

    We are using separate_frame=true and trying to close the applet window (the one with the large gray box) after using the following post-form trigger:
    if :system.last_form = 0 then
         message('Please wait while Forms closes - '||:system.last_form);
         web.show_document('/forms/html/close.htm','_self');
    end if;
    This works fine for the first form we open, but if that same form using Open_Form to open a child form we have a problem. When the child form is closed the user is returned to the parent calling form (which is expected), but then when the parent form is closed the separate applet window fails to close. Any suggestions?

    I guess you mis-interpreted the value of :SYSTEM.LAST_FORM. From the online-help:
    SYSTEM.LAST_FORM represents the form document ID of the previous form in a multi-form application, where multiple forms have been invoked using OPEN_FORM.So LAST_FORM shows always the ID of the last activated form, and this will never be 0 if you issued one OPEN_FORM in your application.

  • The entire window went off the screen to the right, can see icon at bottom but when I click on it it zips off to the right.

    I was working in Firefox and clicked on something which made the entire window flash off to the right, unable to be seen. The Firefox icon is available at the bottom but when I click it, it sends the screen off to the right. Click on icon again and it will take it from "off the screen" back into the icon. I tried restarting with no change. It only affects one user on the computer.

    *Want to close the present window before going to the url page.
    Hi,
    I'm using the script below to go to url function in actionscript 3, and it works fine:
    btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,e);
    function e(e:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.angelfire.com/in/HisTruth/copyofindex.html"));
    It's fine but I want the first window to close and then open up into the one its pointing to.
    How should I add the correct script to this?

    I am not sure what you want between the title and your description, but try adding _self as the window argument...
    function e(e:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(new URLRequest(http://www.angelfire.com/in/HisTruth/copyofindex.html), "_self");

  • Firefox won't start. Everytime I end the process/close the last window, it keeps getting stuck at about 2500k memory in the task manager. (continued)

    Firefox won't start. Everytime I end the process/close the last window, it keeps getting stuck at about 2500k memory in the task manager. The only way I have to fix it is to change some kind of compability settings or try and access it in a new way, and every time it crashes/closed/computer blue screens that setting will no longer work.
    That is a short term solution, but eventually I'll run out of ways to access firefox successfully. I've tried many solutions, and some worked, but only once. I have yet to find a permanent solution for this problem.

    First please update your plugins to make sure you are up to date. Shockwave Flash player has a newer version 16. In order to better manage the memory that Firefox uses please see these troubleshooting steps: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram Firefox Uses too much RAM]
    You also mentioned that Firefox crashes, we're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
    #Enter ''about:crashes'' in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
    #Copy the '''5''' most recent Report IDs that start with '''bp-''' and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
    ''' Note:''' If a recent Report ID does not start with '''bp-''' click on it and select '''Submit'''.
    (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

  • After login close the login window and open home page in new window

    Hi guys,
    I want to go to a new window for the "home page" without browser back button etc. after login validation.
    And also close the login window at the same time.
    Here is the code I used after the login validation.
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks =Service.getRenderKitService(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(),ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    StringBuilder script = new StringBuilder();
    script.append(" params = 'width='+screen.availWidth-10;\n" +
    " params += ', height='+screen.availHeight-50;\n" +
    " params += ', top=0, left=0'\n" +
    " params += ', fullscreen=yes';\n" +
    " params += ', scrollbars=1';\n" +
    " params += ', resizable=1';\n" +
    " params += ', status=1';\n" +
    "window.close();\n" +
    " newwin=window.open('home.jspx','xxxxxxxxx', params);\n" +
    " if (window.focus) {newwin.focus()}");
    erks.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), script.toString());
    This successfully opens a new window. I want to close the current login window at the same time.
    Please help me with this.
    Regards !
    Sameera

    on the 'Submit' onclick event add some JavaScript code:
    this.form.target = '_blank';

  • Any way to close the DOS window ?

    Is there anyway to close the DOS window, after executing a DOS command in a GUI Java program ?
    I keep getting "Please press any key to continue..."..I don't think I can use the System.exit in a GUI Java program?

    Yes.
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...);
    PrintStream out = new PrintStream(p.getOutputStream(), true);
    out.print("a");You get the output stream of that process and print an a (which I guess will work just like you pressed a key). I don't know if there has to be a delay before you write this character. If you send it before it has written "Press a key ..", then it might not work. In this case you can add a line with Thread.sleep(1000); to sleep for 1 sec in this example, just before you execute the print statement. Or you can get the InputStream from the process, and read everything it sends and check if/when you get the "Press a key .." text:
    PrintStream out = new PrintStream(p.getOutputStream(), true);
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream()));
    String s;
    while ((s = br.readLine()) != null) {
      if (s.startsWith("Press a key")) {
        break;
    out.print("a");something like that..
    There might be cases where you don't get a "Press a key" back if the DOS window is big enough to hold all the information (it is possible to change the buffer for DOS windows so they can hold more than 25 lines).
