Portal User navigation report?

Hi, i'm just newbie at Oracle Portal and i need to get a user navigation statistical report. The company just like to know which ones of portal users are using this one.
Does anybody knows a way to do this?, does oracle have any tool for doing it?.

You can have a look at Metalink Note : 218911.1 - How to Retrieve the SSO Username in Reports.
You just need to have a User Parameter named "AUTHID" in your Report to access the SSO UserName. Your Reports need to be " SSO Enabled " for this to work.

Read Portal User ID in BW report to filter records

Hi,
I need to filter my records in BW report based on the
business partner who logs into Portal.
(BW report is getting called thur IView in Portal)
Is there any way i can fetch the Portal User id
during the execution of BW report? so then i can filter
records by writing code in user exit.
I tried using variable sy-uname, but it populates
the BW user id and not portal user id.
Please reply if anybody knows solution to this query.

My understanding:
You need to filter the query by the Business Partner ID and not by User name and Business Partner number and BW User ID are both different.
If you want to filter by User name:
Why don't you try using SSO through EP and that way you would get the ID of the person logged in.
If you are using user mapping:
Or what you could do is maintain the mapping in an info object/table in BW and query against the same.
If you are using Business Partner:
Populate the business partner master which will have the user name attached and that way you would be able to get the Business partner ID.

Report on portal User ID and Assign Roles for all portal users

Hi!
I would like to know , is there way that we can get a report which shows all the portal user ids with there assign portal roles. If we can't get this from portal. Can we get it from Oracle database ?
What are the oracle tables and fields which store this information?
If nay one have a custom develop iview for this please let me know

Hi Ramesh,
as Pascal stated (and as I did above), if developing within the portal is not really new for you, playing around with the UME API is really more or less trivial.
Check Portal User and Role info as well as User to Role listing for similar requests and code hints / further links.

Accessing Portal User profile info from report

Once the user logs into portal, I would like to access some of the user profile information (personal or organizational details). I need to find the stored value of the employee number, e_mail and department. This is needed to restrict the information that will be returned to the user in portal reports.
ie. Access the portal users department and only show them information fo that specific department. If I can access I can store the value in a session variable or cookie.

Just have a look at <portal_schema>.wwsec_person$
There is also an API <portal_schema>.wwctx_api.get_user to get the user currently logged in.

Consider there is a value to be put in Bw report selection screen as customer.
now i logon to portal using customer id. now i want this value of customer id to be passed to that report.

WHAT IS THE MECHANISM FOR AUDITING PORTAL USER ACTIVITY

Is there any default mechanism for auditing a portal users access to
tables. At the DB level, we are seeing the portal_public user but we want to see the portal user instead; e.g. we need to report on activity such as: portal user johndoe deleted a row of data from a table.
johndoe is only a portal user not a database user.
We are trying to keep from writing additional custom code to auditing. We are
using wwctx_api.get_user_id in other parts of the application and we would like
to avoid writing a custom auditing module.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but...
When you create (or edit) a component in Portal 10g, there is a Log Activity check box. If you check this box, then go to Manage the component (in the Portal Navigator), there are Develop, Manage and Access tabs. The Manage tab has a Monitor icon, which has the information you may be looking for. This does not seem to be available directly for database tables. However, I created a Calendar, based on a database table I created to keep track of the Calendar Events. I also created a form to allow users to add Calendar Event entries. I turned logging on for both components. The Monitoring allows me to see when each user has accessed the Calendar, and who and when they insert, update or delete entries from the Calendar table.

How to get Portal user from a standalone Java application

I have a standalone Java application from where I need to fetch the Portal User Information like userid and email id.
I am using the below line of code
iUser = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("e017939");
I have included the jar file com.sap.security.api , But it was giving me the below exception
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/tc/logging/Location
     at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:55)
     at com.am.wcas.java.mailscheduler.kmaccess.FetchDataFromKM.getiUser(FetchDataFromKM.java:29)

and I am getting a pop Up message from the Java Virtual Machine Launcher, saying a Fatal Exception has occured and the Program will exit.
Then I went throught he SDN threads and they asked me to include the
logging.jar and com.sap.security.perm.api .
I Included them, then also, it is giving me Exception

     at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:56)

Hi Shilpa,
1. Check that you have added com.sap.security.api within the Your Project>Libraries folder (under navigation tab) and also added jars in the build path of the Your Project under project>properties>Build Path.
2. In case you have a DC instead of Web Dynpro Project then you have to add the com.sap.security.api under Your DC>Used DCs and have compile time and runtime dependency added.
Here java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError is caused basically due to only build time dependency added and reference to the jar missing at runtime. Rest the code to retrieve the current user id using UME API and getUserByLogOnID("....") method with/without portal environment would not be an issue at all.

How to prevent a portal user from using the BEx Analyzer ?

we have different type of users : most users may use the portal as well
as the analyzer ;
we have one special user with extended authorizations : this user
should use the portal , where he has a limited set of queries to run
with hardcoded filters ==> this user should not be able to use the
analyzer however, since he then would be able to call all other queries
by using the find function ;
how can we make sure this user cannot use the analyzer , using SAP
authorizations ?

Hi,
if I remove the complete S_RFC authorization for the user then the BEx Analyzer cannot connect anymore to the BW system, but neither can the user run reports from the portal : it needs the S_RFC with 'SYST'.
If I only remove the RRMX from the S_TCODE and from the S_RFC, it does not prevent the user from starting the BEx Analyzer and connecting to the BW system. It only stops the user if he would start the RRMX transaction from within an SAPGUI session.
Perhaps there should be a value in the S_RFC that allows connections from the portal but not from the BEx Analyzer .... ?

Are licenses needed for Portal Users?

Hi, do you need seperate user licenses for users created on the Portals Database (J2EE only) using the MSS and ESS components? We have an HR ECC5.0 system with 700 users, but only about 100 Managers will login to the Portal to do reports via the MSS component. I thought of creating these 100 managers on the Portal (Database Only), and then using Single Sign-On with SAP Logon Tickets connect them to the HR ABAP system where they also have the same user accounts, thus enabling them to do their work seemlessly. I don't want to use the ABAP User Persistence model, as I don't want the Portal UME to pull in all 700 users from the HR ABAP system when we only maintain 100 managers on the Portal for the MSS component. Will user licensing be an issues?

There is no need to license your Portal users. The ABAP license is all that is required. I would check with SAP just to make sure that your license agreement doesn't contradict this but I highly doubt that it will.

Can I use SAP HR to drive ESS Portal user creation?

We are implementing a new instance of SAP HR and Portal for ESS and MSS and I am not sure of all the steps that need to be completed so any guidance / tips would be greatly appreciated.
Company currently has an LDAP - but not used extensively. Not all employees currently in LDAP as not all have network ids. All employees will have a SAP account to enable ESS (via Kiosks etc). ESS iViews in Portal will call SAP HR and possibly SAP BW. We have an instance of SAP already and user admin maintained via CUA - this will continue.
Scenario:
My initial thoughts are that we try to use SAP HR as the leading system to drive the ESS Portal users and access. Basically I want to create the user in SAP and assign them an ESS SAP role... then through syncronization have the user created in the Portal and have the correct ESS Portal assigned (in the Portal)
My thinking so far is to go the following way;
1) Create User Master Record in SAP (SU01)
2) Hire employee into the org structure (via HR processes)
3) Populate Infotype 0105 with SAP username
4) Populate Infortype 1016 - with SAP role to be assigned to allow ESS access (not sure about this aspect) or role could be assigned in 1) above
I am not sure of the next steps - I think there must be a way in an SAP table to map the ESS SAP role to the ESS Portal Role (is this via WP3R?)
then I am hoping that a standard job can be run (is this RSLDAPSYNC_USER) that will create the user in the Portal (UME?) and assign the correct Portal role ?
(obviously configuration needed)
For MSS and HR Power users - we would continue to assign SAP roles via SU01.
Can anyone assist with;
- Is my thinking correct in terms of how this should / could work?
- in SAP how can I map SAP Roles to Portal Roles ?
- will syncronization in SAP create the user in Portal and assign the role ? what do I need to configure?

I just dont know if this can throw some light on your prob.'
In our Orgn we had around 250 ess users and 200 sapr/3 users. Some of the r/3 users also logon to ess via their r/3 uname and password.
What we have done is like follows:
1. Created a role for only the ess users ZHRESS. For this i asked the HR functional people with sap_all profile to do all the job which the ESS users are supposed to do and tracer the authorization via tcode st01. We created the role on the basis of this trace report.
2. For the purely ESS users we created the users via tcode HRUSER and assigned then with the above role.
3. For the R/3 users who are supposed to avail the ess facility we assigned them with the role ZHRESS role in addition to the other roles assigned to them to carry out their normal R/3 transactions. Then we mapped their R/3 uname to their employee no via PA30 infotype 105.
4. Tcode HRUSER saved time which would have consumed had we done it via su01 and moreover it picked Name etc data from the HR master table. In HRUSER tcode , setting the user attributes helps to define what roles the users are to be assigned, what should be their initial password etc.

Details regarding Portal users vs 8i DB users

Is there a good DBA level explanation of the differences between a PORTAL/SSO user and a normal database user?
It appears we have to set up new users in Portal for all of our existing users in the database (painful). This was not required in Webdb. Is there a way to import existing database users and link them to their existing schemas painlessly?
The bits and pieces I can find indicate that if you do go ahead and set up a new Portal user manually and link them to their own existing database user schema then the normal database objects roles and rights should appear. This does not seem to be true in 3.0.8 Portal. I created a portal user, assigned them to their existing 8.1.7 schema and:
1) the normal database objects they have rights to do NOT show up in the browse database objects. In Webdb 2.2. all of these objects show up fine. The ability to browse database objects was one of the good things about Webdb that we need to preserve.
2) try to create a portal component, a form, based on a table/view. Unlike #1 above I can in fact create the form on an existing table even though it does not show up in the browse above. The user has update rights to this table, but the form will NOT compile if I leave in the UPDATE, DELETE, INSERT buttons. What is going on?
Is there a technical paper that discusses exactly how to map db users to portal users and how to transfer rights, privileges etc. so we can make portal 3.0 as functional as webdb 2.2 was?

1) the normal database objects they have rights to do NOT show up in the browse database objects. In Webdb 2.2. all of these objects show up fine. The ability to browse database objects was one of the good things about Webdb that we need to preserve.

Iviews in home page not visible when I assign eu_role to portal users

Hey guys,
For the tool area search, I had access denied error. So I have assigned eu_role to the portal users and I am able to search now in the tool area.. But the problem is when I assign this eu_role to the portal users I am not able to see some iviews in my home page.. Like I had webdynpro iview and km document iview which are not visible now. And in place of KM document iview its showing me with this message:
Links :There are no items to display (Organize Entries)
Suggest me with some help.
