Post.Office?

Hello all!
I have just upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.5.1. Immediately after the upgrade, a new user account named Post.Office appeared.
Can anyone point me in the direction of what this account is, why it is there and how to use it? I can find no information in the documentation for Leopard or in these forums. I googled the term Post.Office and came up with this link:
http://www.tenon.com/products/post_office/
but that still doesn't answer the why of the matter.
Thanks for any help.
Ernie

It's not part of Leopard. Leopard upgrade just brings all of your existing accounts from an earlier OS. It's something you or another user on your machine created, probably years ago. Maybe it was a temporary account you set up to test their service and just forgot about?
Can't you just delete the account?

  • The version of GroupWise you are using cannot access this post office

I built a new Server and added it to my PCSD Tree. The new server name is
GroupWise and has an IP Address of 10.10.0.13.
I followed the GroupWise 7 Installation Guide and installed GroupWise to
this server. At no point did I find any place to enter the GroupWise
    License.
During the install I discovered that 4 of my long time employees were not
able to be assigned to this new GroupWise server. It appears that a one
time (Long time ago) these 4 employees were part of an old GroupWise Mail
server that must have been removed. I can not find any reference to this
old GroupWise server. My thought is to delete the accounts for there 4
    users and recreate the accounts.
However the larger problem is this: I can not login to the GroupWise
Server. Below are two screen shots of what I’m getting when I

  • With Firefox 4 I can't print a shipping label off the post office's website (click 'n ship) like I used to with Firefox 3

I go through all the steps to print out a shipping label when I am on the post office's website for click 'n ship, but the website won't communicate with my printer (when I am in firefox 4). So I switched back to Firefox 3 and have no problems.
This happened before in the beta version and I had to switch back to Firefox 3, so I was happy to switch again to Firefox 4 when the completed version came out, but the problem came up again and after all the steps were done to complete the shipping label and I hit the print label button, my printer connection window never popped up so that I could click on it to command my printer to print the label. I am a registered user of click 'n ship on www.usps.com

After waiting forever to talk to some jerk at USPS Click and Ship help, he told me it's an Adobe issue. I didn't ask why it just started happening, but I too just updated to Foxfire 4 recently, it must have something to do with it.
Open your Adobe reader... under programs...mine is called Adobe Reader X
Go to "Edit" in top left...click "Properties"...
    Uncheck "display PDF in browser",
Then restart your computer for it to take effect. I am so thankful it worked!

I've placed an order last week ( Tales of Xillia ) and it was scheduled to be delivered last Wednesday.
The parcel has been stuck at the status "Parcel being transferred to local post office" since the 16th.
This has happened to me before once and basically, the CSR just resent the same product to me.
I was wondering if someone here could do the same in this case as well.
    Thanks!

    Hello karekano126,
Lost packages are the worst, aren’t they?  While it certainly doesn’t happen very often, it can definitely ruin someone’s day, and I'm sorry for the disappointment this caused.
If an online order is reported to us as missing, we reach out to UPS on your behalf to start an investigation to determine where your package may be. This process may take a few days to conclude. I would hate for this to cause further frustration for you than it already has though, and I have sent you a private message so that we may discuss this further. • Reduce/Expire on post office - advice needed

My organization has (had) an email retention policy of 30 days for
email and 365 days for appointments.
We have been on legal hold for the last 3 years so I am looking at
roughly that amount of data that will need to be removed when we get
the green light to come off of hold from the legal folks. (I'm told
    that is coming soon)
My question is how does the expire/reduce run most efficiently? Should
I just set my 30/365 days settings and let it run or does it run more
effiently (quickly) if I did something like 365/720 then stepped down
to the 30/365, which would require 2 passes through the post office.
I know from observing the initial implementation of the policy, it is
going to take more than a week to get everthing down to size. Also, I
will probably have to run this stand alone so I can start/stop it as
needed. We can't take too much of performance hit if I just start it
from the server and let it run.
Once I get the post office trimmed down, I'll be re-enabling the
nightly scheduled expire/reduce options for maintenence.
Any advice or recommendations are appreciated.

    Hi Andy -
Thanks for the input. My industry (without getting too specific)
makes the rules but does not need to follow them if you read through
    the lines
I've had discussions about archiving until I'm blue in the face. I
would get more traction discussing it with my dog.
The size of the post office is roughly 500 user at 380GB. I'll have
to research the lenght of the full contents check that runs on the
weekend. I like the idea of the three runs.

  • Post office upset w/separate auto & non-auto postage reports for same job.

I am new to Business Objects Business Edition.  I am not sure why sometimes I process an automated mailing and get one postage report showing both auto and non-auto, then run another and get two postage reports, one for auto and one for non-auto.  The post office is always complaining that we shouldn't have two postage reports.  Can anyone offer a suggestion?

    Diane,
When the Postage Statement Type Option is set to "By Mailing" a separate Postage Statement will print for each scheme that qualified for the presort (or for each entry point in Business Edition). By Mailing is the program default.
In order to print one postage statement for the entire job, change the Postage Statement Type to By Job as follows:
    1.  Select Print > Reports
    2.  Highlight the Postage Statement
    3.  Click Options
    4.  Under Type, choose By Job
    5.  Click Create minimum number of pages (if it is not all ready checked)
    6.  To save as a default click Default
    7.  Click Save current settings as default
    8.  Click OK
    9.  Click OK
Note: When setting this as a default it will change this job and be the new global default for new jobs. After May 14, 2007 rate case, and using 7.80c or later, the Postage Statement may be on three pages, not just two even when doing a By Job Statement.
Diane - If you are usng Presort you can make the change to the report by opening up the postage statement block and setting the report to by job instead of by mailing.
    Thanks,
    Kendra

  • Post office reporting in Unknown State

We have Groupwise Monitor reporting one of our post offices in an
uknownstate. This message is not sent continuously but when we check the PO
it is running fine. This PO is being monitored remotely over T1, is there
anything we can do to correct. We have tried to set up the SMNP monitoring
for that PO only and cannot get it to work.

Was this PO added manually? I have found that agents I add manually will
always show unknown after a restart of Monitor, and if I delete them and
readd they start working again. If this is your issue, then there is a bug
    already logged for this.

  • Clean up after post office deletion

I deleted a post office from a GW 8.02 server running mta, gwia, and one other post office. When it asked me if I wanted to delete file system for that po, I said yes. However when it attempted to delete the files it gave an error saying they would have to be cleaned up manually. The objects deleted fine and the system is otherwise ok but when I run rcgrpwise status I still see the old post office listed there as unused. My assumption is that I need to clean up gwha.conf by removing the old post office from the list and then remove the file system for the old post office. Is that all there is to it?
    Thanks for any assistance.

Sure, that's a valid reasoning and ext3 should work fine. One could probably debate using XFS over ext3 when looking at native Linux filesystems for GroupWise.
One thing I normally do set when using ext3, besides the notaime parameter, is the time dependent check. I usually set that to 12 months. It's very annoying (and time consuming) to have the disk check kick in during a planned reboot.

Yes, correct. It is important to make sure the basic agent configuration is in working order (meaning the http pages for the agents have been enabled and LDAP server configuration and eDirectory sync is all set correctly and in working order before doing the upgrade). Even when moving from eDir, it's nice to have the upgrade routine be able to reconfigure those LDAP and sync bits correctly for 2014 before moving to a new directory.

Sure, though I'd not 2.01 can be applied directly as upgrade on your current 1.x Mobility system. Do make sure you set a snapshot on the VM before the upgrade (with the VM tunred off) and leave it long enough, a week or so, until you have checked and double checked all is working on the 2.01 system. That way it's easy enough to roll back to 1.x if needed.

Yep, and if the current filesystem is NSS... make sure to run it with the migrate (-m) option so the lowercase conversion runs with it.

Absolutely, and I'd also place that Webaccess/Calendar Publishing server in a DMZ if you have it. All that's needed with the 2012/2014 version is access to the SOAP port on the POA(s).

  • Duplicate File IDs showing up in multiple post offices

We have come across a strange issue. Several users are missing their file IDs. We looked at the user databases and found duplicate file IDs spread across multiple post offices. Joe Smith might have file ID aba in Post Office One while Bob Jones would have the same file ID in Post Office Two. Is this normal? What would happen if we had to move a user from one post office to the other with a duplicate ID.? How can we fix this?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Error 8f03 starting post office

I created a new post office on a SLES10sp3/OES2sp3 server already running the primary domain, gwia, another po and webaccess. But I'm having a problem getting it to start using the poa startup file. Here's the text from the console:
    srv1:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin # ./gwpoa --show --home @hsstudpo.poa &
    [1] 12179
    Warning: Running as root
srv1:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin # An invalid configuration option was detected (8F03).

A required file or directory is missing (DF10).
    home/wphost.db.
    [1]+ Done ./gwpoa --show --home @hsstudpo.poa
The home switch in the hsstudpo.poa file looks like this:
    --home /media/nss/VOL1/grpwise/hsstudpo
The POA will start just fine if I use the command:
    srv1:/opt/novell/groupwise/agents/bin # ./gwpoa --show --home /media/nss/VOL1/grpwise/hsstudpo &
I've tried shortening the path to the post office thinking maybe it was some weirdness with the 8 character issue, but that didn't make a difference.
    I'm stumped.
The only thing I can think of that may be causing this is when I first created the PO object in C1, I forgot to change the POA type from Netware to Linux. I have since fixed that however. Would a domain rebuild be required?
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Configuring Contacts (External Domain/Post Office/User)

We're starting a migration to another mail system. I'm looking for some help to properly configure our GW8sp2hp2 system to send mail to external recipients, whether the mail is sent from an internal GroupWise user or from an Internet sender somewhere outside our network. All external recipients will have the same SMTP domain name. The TIDs I found (7004434, 3230787) for creating an External Domain, External Post Office, and External User to create "Contacts" in the GroupWise system address book that point to external Internet e-mail addresses did not work. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, the instructions are incomplete, or the process has changed for GW8.
We have GW8sp2hp2 with the exception of a WebAccess and GWIA that are both at 7sp4. There are two GWIAs, one for inbound in the DMZ (7sp4) and one for outbound (8sp2hp2). One TID I read said to link the External Post Office to the domain holding the GWIA using the Link Configuration tool. The inbound GWIA has a Gateway Alias Type of "GWIA", but the outbound GWIA did not have one defined. I made its Gateway Alias Type "GWI2". I can go to GroupWise|Gateway Aliases in the properties of the External User and add a gateway alias for either GWIA, however I cannot see GWI2 in the Gateway Link drop-down in the Link Configuration tool to select the second GWIA as the Gateway link (per TID 3230787).
Are there GroupWise 8-specific instructions for configuring this?

I added a Gateway Alias of [email protected] to the user and now the inbound GWIA accepts mail to that address and immediately forwards the mail through the outbound GWIA to the address configured in Internet Addressing. My remaining issue is that I want it to work for Internet mail addressed to [email protected] AND [email protected] I created a second External User and gave it a gateway alias of [email protected] but the same Internet Address, and that appears to work, but is complicated. GroupWise documentation says nicknames are not the solution, as mail cannot be addressed to [email protected]
It appears I've found a solution, albeit a slightly complicated one. But if Gateway Aliases are deprecated and nicknames aren't the answer, what is the supported solution for making this work?

  • Why am I unable to access my new Post Office Account they state that you will not allow and I will have to use Internet Explorer why?

I have just opened a new account with the Post Office but I am unable to access this on the net. Telephoned Customer Services but say that I will not be able to access through Firefox and will have to use Internet Explorer. Going back to Internet Explorer is not something I want to do because I like Firefox, please explain why Firefox is blocking access if this is true. I have clicked 'allow' but it made no difference and the only message coming up is "timed-out" when I have been much less than 5 mins putting security details. Please advise. Paula

I doubt if Firefox is blocking access. More than likely, that website is made to use ActiveX, or other proprietary Microsoft code, that only Internet Explorer can handle.
If you post the address of that "Post Office" website, maybe one of us support helpers can figure out the exact reason for that.

  • GW Monitor and multiple post office agents on one Netware 6.5Server

    HI,
I've not been successful getting GW Monitor (7 sp3) to recognize a PO as "known". Regardless of the setting I put in monitor.xml for the port assignment (1677), the thing reverts to port "0". This server is running a MTA only post office agent and a client post office agent. These may be related. Interestingly, the MTA IP configurations are:
    MTA only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7100 (My Note on this - this is from agmail MTA to agents POA which is IP ...28 and listens on 7100)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
    Client only post office agent:
Inbound - 165.91.107.28:7102 (My Note on this - this is from agents POA/MTA to agents POA only which is IP ...28 and listens on 7102)
Outbound - 165.91.106.93:7101 (My Note on this - this is agents POA only to agmail MTA which is ip ...93 and listens on 7101)
Maybe I should make the outbound for the client only post office agent to be:
    Outbound - 165.91.107.28:7100
In any event, we need GW Monitor to report on the status of the POA at 1677 on the Agents server. Any ideas?
    Thanks Mike

    Mike Gerst wrote:
    > In any event, we need GW Monitor to report on the status of the POA at

Well, first of all the Monitor should be looking for 7101 for the MTA, 7100
for the first POA and 7102 for the second POA if indeed this is how you have
it set up. Are you sure you purposefully change the POA to listen on 7100
and put the MTA on 7101? That is confusing :) - most sites have the MTA at
the default of 7100, and the first POA at 7101, so it just looks weird to me
    - but it's perfectly "okay" to change them if you want to - but just
    confusing for long-time GW admins/consultants.

  • Split one Post OFfice in two parts

    Hi there!
I have problems with my Poa, because I'm having problems with I/O. Despite of all,
my POA is about 250 GB and I think that it's pretty big. So I have a lot of "batch users"
that are receiving a lot of emails with low priority, and I am thinking in split my post office
    in two parts:
    1) personal/phyisical users (humans): my actual post office. With SAN storage (expensive)
    and priority backups.
    2) non humans: batch users, iScsi storage , cheap and only a backup in saturday.
The question is: I saw that there is a procedure to move an user from one post office
to another, but these users have a lot of proxy accesses and rules. These options
are saved in the move? I mean, there are rules for forward emails to users in post office 1).
Does the system relocalize these users from post office 2) in post office 1) ?
I know that the best test would test with one test user... but just in case.
    Thank you all!

instead of putting a lot of effort into splitting this little
PostOffice into two, how about looking at the I/O challenges as fixing
them might be much more effective. Might even help you elsewhere as
    well.
What plateform are you running on? Hypervisor? What is the storage
    access type?
What are the particular I/O challenges you are hitting?
