Preferences in infoview XIR3

Hi all
Did a new install of XIR3.1 and new ot it
when i log in to Infoivew default page I see is Infoview with navigate, preferences, document list etc.,
but i want to see the public folders
i can go an change the preferences to folder and can save it.. for my self..
but can we change this to all users globally??
any ideas please

bu I think an easier method was added to 3.1, either search the forums for other solutions or open a case with support/admin team to see if there are other ways.

Is it possible to disable web Intelligence preferences in InfoView?
We want that users only have the ability to change their password, and nothing else.

Hi -
It is possible to disable preferences completely. Once you disabled preferences then users will loose password change privileges as well. To disable preferences follow below steps. Thanks!
1) Log into CMC as admin
2) Go to Applications
3) Right click on InfoView Application and select user security.
4) Click on Assign Security
5) Click on Advanced tab
6) Click on Add/Remove rights
7) Go to Application --> InfoView
8) Disable Change User's Preferences.

How to globally set user preferences in Infoview

We desire the ability to globally set the user preferences in Infoview. I've seen references to a macro or program but have been unable to locate it.
Can someone either post a new link or point me in the right direction?

Ok guys, found it... (on my XI 3.0 machine... XI 2.0 is similar)
\Business Objects\Performance Management xx.x\setup directory..
prefsCopyUtil.jar and using the PrefsCopyUtil.properties file...
1) Ensure that the following files are in the same folder, for example or example, C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Performance Management 11.5\setup:
u2022 prefsCopyUtil.jar
u2022 cecore.jar
u2022 celib.jar
u2022 ceplugins.jar
u2022 cesession.jar
u2022 corbaidl.jar
u2022 ebus405.jar
2) Set up a PrefsCopyUtil.properties file with the settings you want to use. Run "java -jar prefsCopyUtil.jar PROPFILE". Note: Replace PROPFILE with the path of the properties file with the settings you want to use.

[BOXI 3.0] missing preferences - close browser - log me off infoview

when we were testing BOXI R2 we wererunning on IIS now with BOXI 3.0 we are using TOMCAT
on R2 under Preferences in InfoView there was an option"When I close my browser window" and I could tick "always log me off InfoView" I think there were other option such as "prompt me" etc
but now that we have moved to 3.0 (because R2 was so full of bugs it did not work for us) this setting is not in preferences. Has the setting been removed or was it specific to IIS?

There isn't a consistent way to detect when a web browser window has been closed.
There's workarounds for that, but none work consistently across all environments and all web browser types, and most cause more problems that they solve.
XI Release 2 used a relatively 'safe' method - use JavaScript to detect when a mouse pointer was moved to an impossible location - but this only worked with Internet Explorer 6 (not 7 or Firefox). XI 3.0 users would mostly not be using that version, thereby limiting the effectiveness of such a method if left in.
The limitation is entirely client-side (i.e., web browser), and not web app server side.

Crystal Reports XI R2 Server: InfoView - Save Preferences Issues

Hello All;
I beleive this issue is related to how I set the security for the users/groups/folders.
Once I have the user defined and attached to a group then to a folder, I cannot save it preferences in InfoView. Any suggestions how the security is suppose to set up from the user to the folder level.
I sign on as administrator in CMC under Business Object Enterprise Application/Infoview, I have granted rights to change user preferences. but left Everyone will inherit rights from the parental group box unchecked.
Any suggestions?

Which preferences do you mean? The preferences every user can change (if allowed) in Infoview? i,e, what you see on the top-right corner in Infoview?

Problem with new install of InfoView

I have recently installed CR2008 Server V1. I set up a test user and then logged on to InfoView as the test user. There is an item in the inbox. When I try to open it, I get this message:
Status report
message Invalid path /CrystalReports/view was requested
description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect (Invalid path /CrystalReports/view was requested).
It appears that not everything has been installed either on the server or on the client. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. It was indeed the version of IE. However, even with IE 8, you have to add the application to the Compatability View Settings under Tools. I also had to go to preferences in InfoView for Crystal Reports and change it to the option for Web (no download required). That may not be necessary in all cases depending on what is installed on the machine and how ActiveX is set up.

Open Crystal Report full screen at InfoView and hide navigation panel

Dear all,
In InfoView, how to globally set so that Crystal Report document will be opened as full screen and also hiding the navigation panel.
I know InfoView > Preference can open in full screen, but this must be done for each user. How to set it globally for all users?
And also to hide the navigation panel on the left hand side (parameters, group tree) that applies for all user (global)?

1. Do you have any information like what table and field in CMS database that we need to change in order to modify the BOE user preferences in InfoView?
2. For hiding the Navigation Panel in CR viewer, i was thinking if the setting might need to be done on the CR viewer. I tried changing the config file below:
D:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\CrystalReports\crystalreportviewers\Web.config
In that config file there's a parameter below which i set to "true" but it doesn't work.

SWF link in InfoView

Hi Experts,
We have a dashboard developed and exported into CMC, now i want to give this dashboard for users through the InfoView.
When user login to infoview , it should appear automaticly. What is the best way to do it ? if i use the corporate dashboard and set to home preference, it is not showing in full screen, i want the dashboard should be seen in full screen.
please guide..

Hi Suresh,
In Home Page with Preferences we can do this also.
In Preferences>General>InfoView Start Page>Then Select Folder radio Button>Browse Folder .Here it ll show you the available folders, give the folder where you have stored the Dash board.
Then Go to Document Viewing -->In a single full screen browser window,one document at a time.
With this way ,i think the user can can see the dashboard in full sceen mode.

360View schedule ok, but user can't

BOXI 3.0
In Infoview a normal user can't schedule a webi report, although in 360View the user can schedule the document and can add documents to the map.
The following error occurs:
An error has occurred: Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Add objects to the folder' (ID: 1) for '' (ID: 49). Please contact your administrator if you require this right.
The same error occurs when the user tries to modify it's preferences in infoview.
An administrator can do both.
What else can it be than user rights or other suggestions?

Has an answer for this appeared? I'm having the same exact issue in XI 3.1.

Multi Language support for universes created on SAP BW/BI

When I am going through the document "using SAP BW in Designing OLAP universes"

in 13 th page under the heading "SAP BW Multilingual universes" I found the below statements.
"With Web Intelligence, it is possible to leverage the multilingual capabilities
of SAP BW. In order to implement a multilingual environment, the BW system
must include multilingual metadata and multilingual data.
You must create a universe for each language supported by the solution.
The language in which the universe connection is created determines the
language in which the universe is generated.
The user's SAP authentication determines the language of the data returned
to the query. The user must log into InfoView using SAP authentication and
specify the desired language for results returned from the SAP server.
The result-set language is dependent on SAPu2019s Unicode support. If the SAP
system does not contain the data in the desired language, the data is not
available in Web Intelligence in this language. Web Intelligence reverts to
displaying technical names instead of descriptions when the descriptions
are not translated in SAP BW."
After reading the above statements i got the impression that if i want to see the report in 10 languages then i need to create the universe in each language with seperate connection in each language.
if my understanding is correct. it araises below questions.
1. if i am creating one universe for each language will it not increase maintainance?
2. or is there any option available in universe designer which takes the replica of the universe into the desired language?
Please clarify me the above doubts.

Deski: 2-tier & 3-tier mode

Hi,
We are setting up Business Objects XI R2 primarily for Desktop Intelligence. We will not be using WEBI or InfoView. All users will run their reports via DESKI. However, the one thing I am puzzled about is the 2-tier and 3-tier mode. From my understanding 2-tier mode consists of DESKI and business objects server and 3-tier consists when InfoView comes into play. Is this correct? I tried running a report in 2-tier mode, by logging into the business objects server, it failed with a u201Cconnection or sql sentence error: (da00005) u2013 unable to create connectionu201D. However, after setting up 3-tier key, by logging into InfoView and selecting new > desktop intelligence document, it created a 3-tier file: @xir2dev_dotnet.extranet in the locdata folder and I was able to run the same report against the universe.
Am I missing something? I thought you only need the 3-tier key only if you plan on using InfoView, is this correct? If we need to create the key, we will need the users to log into InfoView for the first time.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Ok this may be easier if I list the requirements of each mode
full deski client install is required by both 3-tier and 2-tier
Connectivity to the CMS (6400 by default) and direct connectivity to the reporting DB(middleware installed on the client machines) is required by 2-tier
2 tier workflow
launch busobj.exe on client
system has CMS name in it and optional port#
login request is sent to CMS
to refresh reports (middleware must be set up locally on the client) such as SQL ODBC, Oracle, DB2, etc
Connectivity through a webserver (java:8080 or .net:80), connection server(service in the CCM/CMC that deski clients connect to) and DB connectivity(middleware installed on the server) set up on the enterprise server for 3-tier
3 tier workflow
launch busobj.exe on the client
system has globe icon and .net or j2ee (IIS or tomcat typically)
globe icon exists if .intranet file exists in C:\Documents and Settings\taz\My Documents\My Business Objects Documents\LocData on the client
file is created when preferences in infoview are set to launch desktop intelligence and a deski doc is accessed from infoview
file contains the URL of the .net or j2ee web server
Busobj.exe connects via web server (wsdkbridge or something like that) to the connection server running in the CCM/CMC
connection server works like the deski report server in querying DB for reports using middleware installed on teh enterprise server
data is returned to client busobj.exe
In your scenario it would seem that the reporting DB middleware is installed on the server only not the client (thus the Da00005 message).

PDF as default selection for Select printing cotrol (for Web)

Can someone point me to righ direction? What we are trying to do is, in Infoview, set PDF as default selection for "Select printing Control (for Web)", so that each user does not have to do this in preferences in infoview.
Is it possible to do so? If yes, how?

Take a look for a .vbs sample that synchs the ADMINISTRATOR preferences to all users on the BOE platform.
You can schedule this as a PROGRAM OBJECT in InfoView so that it runs on a regular schedule to apply the change to new users.

Multi language support for BI graphs

Hi All,
We are using Bi Beans 10.1.2 and AWM 102030. In a particulars field, we have values in many languages say English, Japanese, Korean etc. We are getting the output of database correctly in these languages. But once we create the BI graphs, it shows some junk characters for the values other than English. I am relatively new to AWM and BI. Can anybody help me in getting these language support in BI graphs?

R2 to R3 upgrade Schedule Date Format Changed

We recently did an upgrade from BOXI r2 to R3. We did the installation wizard using the r3 image to the same server.
What we have noticed now is that all the schedule dates in the CMC for our reports have changed format from US to EURO. 01/13/08 to 13/01/08
We are still on the same server, and it appears that the time format is comming from our web server now.
Dose anyone know how to change the date format on Tomcat to reflect standard US time and Not Euro.
Or if this isnt the case where else could I check for date formats, we have checked the CMC, the Server itself and the Preferences.

Grouping drilldown table and chart

Hi,
I want to group drilldown table and chart on same webi report.
For example table has many records and chart must be shown below table no matter how many records does it have.
I cant estimate the data record number every run so when table rec number is bigger than 40 chart looks under table.I have urgently correct this display issue.
Is there any function about this?

Hi Nil,
Try these steps.
1. Click on Preferences in InfoView.
2. Click on Web Intelligence
3. Scroll to Drill options
4. Check u201CSynchronize drill on report blocksu201D
As you drill to the next hierarchy on the table, the chart will also drill down along with the table.
