Premiere CS4 installer to support Red's camera build v20

Any estimate/date when the new Premiere CS4 installer to support Red's camera build v20 will be out?
The new Red API is released and just a matter of Adobe integrating. (FCP already has released it!)
many thanks....Dave

Thanks for the quick replies guys.....
I've spoken to the developer at Red who is indicating the release date is dependant on Adobe.
Now whether that suggests acceptance/integration testing (or development) by Adobe, I assume Adobe is on the critical path for the release this plugin...hence question. any further information greatly appreciated.
Dave,
edit: cheers Curt. The v20 plugin deals with noise, particularly in low light tungsten scenes which starves the blue channel of any signal, hence the noise.
Red say 20% of the corrected code in the camera firmware (build v20) and 80% is in their software API which has been since released in other Red products and Final Cut.
Makes a huge difference in picture quality so great to see it in Premiere.

  • CS4 does not support XP 64....

I just read this from Curt:
"Premiere CS4 does not support XP64. It supports XP 32, Vista 32, or Vista 64 on PC"
Why not? and will it be supported in the future?
Will it work with Windows OS 7?

It works with xp64 but it's not supported. Vista 64 is what the program is optimized for. I have Windows 7 64 as test OS and it works perfect so far. Right now if I'm doing an After Effects project I'll do it in Win 7 64 because it is faster. Hands down.
I know there's a lot of hate for Vista but XP is going the way of Windows 2000. I know some people hate that but technology is what it is. I wouldn't be surprised if there is no support for xp when CS5 comes.
Actually I kinda wish 32 OS would die off so 64bit will become more widely supported.

  • Canon XH G1s and Premiere CS4

I just bought a Canon XH G1s and tried to transfer some footage to Premiere. It would not allow me to view the footage while importing, even though it did import (with some problems on a few of the clips, like saying that one clip had been captured at 110 fps). I am using a new G5 with Premiere CS4, and am hoping that the camera is compatible. I would hate to think I spent $7,000 for a camera that won't work with CS4's Premiere Pro. Yikes! Any help would be appreciated.

Thats correct no image in the capture screen while capturing.
You could use HDVSplit instead, which also does scene splitting which Premiere doesn't.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Installation Failed - Again!

    Hi all
We are currently using an old version of Adobe Premiere which I would like to upgrade to the latest version.  I want to show everyone in the company how good the latest version is and get them to pay for an upgrade/full version.
I then noticed a free trial download for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and thought great idea. Well done Adobe I can now show everyone how good the latest CS4 version is.
5 days later I still can not get the damn thing to install and work!! :-(
In a desperate move I even tried it on a new Windows XP Pro SP3 - 3Gb RAM - Quad Core - 1Tb HD etc.. and when I try and install the Premiere windows 1.3Gb trial installation it eventually says at the end of the installation process (which takes for ever) "Installation Failed - One or more required components of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 failed to install correctly." and it shows the following error log:

Over the last 5 days I have looked through this forum site and tried every recommendation it suggests to fix the problem including:
    1) Uninstalling / Re-installing serveral times the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 which eventually comes up with the above error.
    2) Turned off all Anti-Virus applications and disabled all running windows applications.
    3) I have also tried the WinCS4Cleanupscript process
    4) Manually deleted and removed the premiere folders
    5) I even rang up adobes technical support line and they said use the forums to solve the problem. Cushy job they have...
None of the above fix the problem...
So here I am. Has anyone got any ideas how to make it run up in trial mode ?
Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated as I suspect im not the only one having this problem.

Day 8 - OK I have finally fixed the problem.  I got fed up and purchased the full Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 product and it installed and worked 1st time!!!
I must admit im very annoyed that the Trial version failed but the full product works.  The 2 x Premiere Pro CS4 installation CDs went through the installation process without a hitch and I did not get any installation error messages at all.
So my no 1 question is why does the online Adobe Premiere CS4 Trial version fail to install but the full product can ?
For what its worth, here are my final observations from this whole saga:
    1) The first thing I noticed on the Full Product CD Installation is it defaulted to and installed the "en_International" version and not the "en_US" language version. For some reason the online trial version defaulted to "en_US" language and I used this option during the trial installations. Maybe this language option upsets the installation process on my UK PC.
Now I have it working im not going to risk re-installing it all again. But if your a UK user and you encounter problems during the trial installation process then try selecting the "en_International" language option. You never know.
    2) Another obvious observation is the trial version has numerous features removed and hacked out of it  So did the Adobe engineer get carried away with the hacking process and also remove some important installation code and procedures.
After several days of trying to get the trial version to work there is obviously a problem with the trial installation process and it needs looking at.  I must of installed and reinstalled it 15+ times and during this time it upset my Dreamweaver CS4 app so forcing me to re-install this application as well.
Please Adobe just give the online users the option of 2 x CD ISO Images to download and burn onto a CD as this could save other users the same frustrating time I have had and maybe give you more revenue.

  • I have CS4.  I just bought canon 70d.  Photoshop cannot read raw file.  How do I update so it has the support from this camera?

I have a canon 70d.  My CS4 photoshop will not read the camera raw file.  Help!!

Unfortunately, there are no camera raw updates that work with photoshop cs4 that will open the canon 70d files directly.
Which operating system are you using?
Since photoshop cs4 can only be updated to camera raw 5.7 and the canon 70 d requires at least camera raw 8.2, you could use the adobe dng converter to convert the
canon 70d files to dng copies which then photoshop cs4 should open.

    Hello,
Whenever I try to install the Premiere CS4 trial on Vista Ultimate I get an error dialog at the Loading Setup window that says critical errors were found in setup please see the setup log file for details. Then the installer exits after hitting OK. Any ideas where this setup log resides so I can try to figure out what the problem is?

O.K. I found the error log and following are some excerpts from the log that mention errors. It does not help me at all. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

  • Need to correct tilted camera position - Premiere CS4

    Hello there,
Yesterday I filmed an event with a camera up high in a horizontal bar (on a gorilla pod - upside down).
    EDITING WITH  PREMIERE CS4
I corrected the upside down position with a vertical and horizontal flip.
But now I have problems with tilting. I tried to use the rotating tool to correct the problem, which worked for the tilting, but the movie frame is now tilted with black filling the rest of the screen. I figured I could use the crop tool to eliminate the black waste, but it only crops along the new tilting frame, which doesn't solve my problem.
What I need is to have the rotation as it is, but crop along the original frame (unrotated). Do I make any sense?
I attach two photos to help clarifying my question.
    ORIGINAL
    ROTATION
Although it's not very apparent since the edges are mostly black, you can see from the projection screen that my frame is now tilted to the right. The rotation is correct, but I need to eliminate the upper, down, left and right edges to make all the frame uniform again.
    Any ideas?
By the way... how can I correct barrel distortion?
    Thanks,
    Goncalo Figueiredo

even if it was MORE off the horizon plane...it wouldnt bother me at all...
all im saying is it doesnt bother me at all....and next time keep it in mind how to level the camera etc...or else make the whole thing smaller on your delivery and crop it, rotate it etc they way you want to correct...
In other words, put your assets into a smaller project so the video is "bigger" than the project frame...now you can rotate etc and not run out of space...

  • How can i open .mts files in premiere cs4?

    Hi all,
    I am using premiere cs4.
when i import .mts file in cs4 it says file format is not supported.
could any one please tell me how can i open .mts file in premiere cs4.
    Thanks

What kind of audio did the camera record?  For example, the Sony NX5U can be set to record linear PCM audio, which will not import into CS4.  If the same camera is set to record AC3 audio, then the clips should import and play as expected.  This thread may help:

  • Premiere CS4 with XDCAM files in MOV wrapper

Hi. I am using a JVC HM700 camera. This camera shoots in 35 mbit XDCAM EX format.  The XDCAM footage is "wrapped" in a MOV file . To have an MP4 (Sony standard wrapper) I need to plug an SxS recorder on the back that activates the codc/wrapper option in the camera's menu. Also Sony standard files come with a single folder for every clip (holds metadata) . For these two reasons I really prefer to work with the MOV wrapper. Quality is exactly the same (it's an XDCAM EX) but it's all much easier. Now.. while Final Cut can edit realtime these clips (actually they worked with JVC in developing the camera) I cannot do the same in Premiere. Premiere will work in realtime with MP4 wrapped XDCAM but not with MOV wrapped XDCAM. in fact I get the "yellow line" above my footage in the timeline and playback jitters... So my question... Is Adobe going to support MOV wrapped XDCAM EX 35 Mbit files in the future? Or is there some plugin around? Thanks, Marcello

    Marcello,
Check out this thread for some more information and a link to a program that will losslessly rewrap the XDCAM stream from an MOV to an MPG. Here's the website translated via Google (original is in German).
I just tested it out on an HM700 clip I downloaded, and the MPG imports into Premiere perfectly; plays back in an XDCAM EX sequence preset without a yellow or red line.
I doubt Adobe will support the MOV-wrapped files from this camera; as you mentioned, it was specifically developed with Apple to work with FCP. I think the odds of Adobe offering MOV support for this camera are extremely slim. But hey--you never know...

  • (Windows) Premiere cs4 with Canon 5D Mark II

I'm seriously considering buying Adobe's Production Premium, but I am extremely concerned about Premiere's support for the files outputted by my Canon 5D Mark II, h264 .mov 1920x1080p 30fps.
I've done a lot of research and it seems as if a lot of folks with a lot more experience, better hardware components and 3rd party software packages haven't been able to find a workflow that is reasonable in terms of effort and time required just to get a project going.
Can anyone give me a reason why I shouldn't seriously consider moving to an Apple solution with FCP Studio over production premium cs4 with premiere and after effects?
    Thanks for your honest opinions!

If you want to stay on PC, would be the main reason.
I dont know how well FCP handles it; but typically fcp converts everything to an intermediate format (pro res)
I am definitely cringing at the thought of ditching all of my PC components (well, I suppose I can re-use the hard-drives at least in the Mac Pro if that's what I get). I do like a lot about windows, and being able to upgrade my stuff to my own liking rather than being stuck in a closed ecosystem. I also game a lot so that's a consideration too.
The way FCP converts the video to Pro Res sounds pretty smart and definitely take the guesswork out.
    Jim Simon
Best one I can think of is that it would be an Apple solution.
The better solution would be to get a real video camera for video production.  While the world of DSMC is rapidly approaching, we're not quite there yet.
    Thanks for your reply, Jim!
I agree making the switch to Apple and Final Cut Studio might not be the best solution.
I cannot really speak to getting a "real" video camera just because Premiere cs4 can't seem to play nicely with the camera I currently have.
I am able to drag and drop 5D Mark II .mov files straight into imovie 6 HD, have it import (40 gb of movies in 4-5 hrs) and then edit away with no delays on a Macbook (non-pro) with no problems whatsoever. Playback, cutting, transitions, effects are silky smooth. Imovie 6 HD came with my Macbook when I bought it in December 2006. Premiere Pro came out last year didn't it? What gives?
There are people making some "real" good stuff out there with this camera and I love its ability to use all of my Canon lenses (four), high capacity memory cards (ranging from 8gb to 32gb) and camera batteries that I already have. Buying a new, but "real", camera would mean learning a whole new camera system not to mention having to buy all of the accessories, lenses, batteries, memory cards (a Panasonic P2 16gb alone is $800 USD) and carrying all that extra stuff around. If I'm on vacation for instance every morning I would have to make the decision of carting around either the still camera or the video camera instead of just bringing something that could do it both, and potentially miss either a once in a lifetime still or video.
I'm a photographer by trade but I'm getting into video production because I feel like I will need video editing/production skills in the future or I'll be left in the dust. That isn't the only reason of course - I've always wanted to shoot video but couldn't afford or justify a quality camera until now.
Jim why do you prefer Premiere to Final Cut Pro on the Mac?
    Thanks again for replying.
    Matt.

  • Premiere CS4 I Can't Import .MXF files but Adobe assures me i can?????

Hi I have Adobe Premiere CS4 and I am trying to import some videos to it and they are in .MXF format. Premiere issues me "codec missing or unavailable" and I don't want to download some sort of converter. Isn't Premiere supposed to support .MXF files?????????

Not sure about CS4, I started with CS6. And hope I'm not being preachy here, but an awful lot of troubles over MXF files have the same root problems. Even some very experienced editors have had issues with this. The vast majority of the times this error comes up people have not imported as PrPro needs it ... MXF files are a form of AVCHD ... the camera makes separate (and oft fairly short) sections of video file and matching audio files, stored on the cam in separate folders, with a database to tell any further software use which pieces are part of the same "full-length" clip, and that data is stored in a different folder-tree from the other files. If you don't properly import the whole folder tree, PrPro says ... no go.
So ... when uploading onto the computer, or moving the files around to various drives, you ALWAYS need to take the entire folder-tree from the camera and move it intact. Some other softwares manage to sort out MXF/AVCHD files while the top level folder didn't get copied, PrPro probably will choke. Next, you need to navigate to the files in the Media Browser and then select and "Import" those files, then work them from the Project panel.
Oh ... and often times if these are on external drives, PrPro can be picky about seeing/working with them.

  • Where to find Premiere CS4 Crash log?

    Hi,
I've been running Premiere CS4 on Windows XP x64 for the past several months without any problems.  A couple of days ago, I suddenly started getting a crash window whenever I would start up Premiere (during the splash screen loading).  I accidentally clicked on the "do not display again" option in the window, so the window has since disappeared and no longer shows up.
I have tried uninstalling CS4 completely, and reinstalling the entire suite, but I still have the same problem.  Furthermore, the crash report screen still doesn't display anymore.
I am starting to get quite frustrated at this point.  I am not sure where to look for a crash log and/or how to figure out / pinpoint what might be causing the error.
I am running XP x64 SP2 with all the latest patches enabled.
Other CS4 apps (ie: photoshop, encore, etc), work fine.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?  I've tried searching the web to see if there is a way to reenable this crash report window and/or to find any pertinent log files, but can't seem to find anything.
I've already read through http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405950.html and tried out most of the suggestions to no avail.
Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I have wasted hours trying to figure this out on my own but am just spinning my wheels at this point.
    Thanks!
    Eric

That is the reason we advise never installing codec packs, since it is often utter h*ll to get rid of them again, leaving the only option for the non-expert registry wizards to reinstall OS & programs. Usually a faster and better way to repair things. I don't think it is fair to blame that on Adobe, especially since you aggravated things by using an unsupported OS to start with.
Fair enough, however, everything I have read about XP64 and CS4 is that it isn't officially supported, however, should work fine.  And true to form, it does/did work fine.  Until I messed things up.
I guess it is the lack of debugging tools and the length of time that it takes to install/uninstall CS4 that is making this process so utterly painful.  If there would be better tools and/or documentation for fixing a hole that you have dug yourself into, it would make things so much better.
I love Adobe products, but they have a history of poking around in obscure places in the OS that is intentionally undocumented, for example activation information, serial information, etc.  They have only recently (in the last couple of years) started providing tools (ie: CS4clean script) to help clean up faulty/defective installs.  However, even those don't seem to work perfectly.  I already uninstalled CS4 and ran the clean script.  Yet after reinstalling, my crash window no longer gets displayed in my original profile.  Which indicates to me that there are still some setting lurking around somewhere in the system that Adobe hasn't documented.
Now I completely understand Adobe's need to do this in order to protect its IP and software and business model.  Where they fall short, however, is providing tools to help the user determine what is wrong, faulty, defective in their system in order to be able to successfully (re)install the application.
My case is a prime example.  If there was a way to enable a "safe mode" of sorts, or a logger that indicates exactly which files were being loaded/accessed, it would go a long way to help determine what gremlin is still lurking in the PC.  Without such tools, it becomes incredibly arduous guessing constantly.  Add to the fact that every "guess" that includes and installation takes 1-2 hours to complete, and the frustration levels start to increase.
That being said, I have yet-again just launched the uninstallation of CS4.  Will run the clean script again afterwards, reboot, and reinstall and keep my fingers crossed.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • CS4 installation problems...novice

Hi, all.  I just purchased a student edition of Photoshop CS4 to begin using for a Photoshop class.  As luck would have it I'm unable to install it after downloading the installer with the following error message: Installation failed.  One or more required components of Adobe Photoshop CS4 failed to install correctly.
After installing the Support Advisor, it came up with the following message: Issue no: 18312. Unable to copy a file onto the machine when installing the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product.  After accessing the provided Knowledge Base link, I followed their directions by uninstalling Photoshop and running some sort of cleanup utility which didn't seem to do anything.  I've repeated this about four or five times.
If anyone can offer some advice I'd greatly appreciate it.  I'm pretty much at a loss as to how to solve this.  Also I'm on Mac OSX 10.5.8, if that helps.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm having similar problems.  Clean install  of CS4 Design Premium on a new Windows 7, 64-bit computer with plenty of space.   Setup runs, takes my product key, then after a while reports that some products will not install and list virtually the entire suite.  Using CS4 clean up script and trying again results in the same problem.  Numerous phone calls have demonstrated the futility of hoping for technical support from the call center (India?).
Don't know what to do next.  Advice appreciated.

  • AME WON'T LOAD PREMIERE CS4 FILES

Probably been answered somewhere ... but, I'm playing beat the clock (who isn't?) ... and gotta find a solution or work-around, and FAST.
PREMIERE CS4 WON'T EXPORT TO ADOBE MEDIA ENCODER.
It goes through the motions; but never actually loads the elements to render.  It just hangs after you tell it to "Start Queue."  "Loading (project name)" just sits there, and I eventually get a "non responsive program" notice.
    I'm running 4.0.2.002.
My usual work-around is to take the project into AE and render there ... but, this is a multi-camera project and they don't enport to AE.

  • Reinstalling XP over CS3 and Premiere CS4 without losing prefs etc.?

    Hello people,
I have Master Collection CS3 (all programmes including Premiere Pro) plus Production CS4 (Premiere Pro, Encore, AE and AME) installed on an XP machine.  Unfortunately I have had a series of very unlucky system and disk crashes which I have been unable to bring back to a fully working state. Cutting a long story short, after several methods of repair, I can boot but the system does not operate 100% correctly, and I now also have problems launching either Premiere (CS3 and CS4) and Photoshop since connecting a DV camera (they were working OK before then). Premiere CS3 quits to the desktop when I get to the 'open project' screen, CS4 tells me it cannot communicate with "ImporterProcessServer", Photoshop hangs after launch.
So in essence I have decided the only thing left to do is to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows XP and reinstall all the applications :-(
I have looked everywhere on the forum but I need guidance as to how to go about this process and still retain my preferences, plug-ins, cache files, preview files  etc. - I have an old but very important project that I want to keep as much as possible in its original state, and that includes rendered files, references to special effects plus of course various settings. Plus of course all the activation/deactivation paraphernalia.
So, can please someone suggest me the best course and order of action to this purpose?  Shall I uninstall CS3 & CS4 or not? Shall I deactivate first? Can I just reinstall XP afresh and then run the CS3+CS4 installers confident that they will leave my settings unaltered? What about the fact both CS3 and CS4 had downloaded updates applied to them?
I would be very grateful if someone could please tell me what steps should I do in order to return the system to a working state whilst preserving as much as possible of the current CS3/CS4 installation.
    Many sincere thanks in advance.

Thank you, but sorry I do not wish to sound stupid or insisting: do I uninstall both CS3 and CS4 as well?  I was hoping that if I do not uninstall CS3 and/or CS4 the Adobe installer might be smart enough to leave the updated files and my preferences.  Also, I have a folder called Adobe in My Documents, which obviously contains about 30GB of preview and cache files, if I leave it in place will the uninstaller (and new installer) preserve its contents or is it going to delete everything?
