Price rise?

Hi all,
A few days ago my friends and I were in my office talking about going from a Samsung S5 to an iPhone 6 (just the standard, not the plus) and we all noticed it was $899 for the base model which is all I'd really need. We were going to head in today and get them and notice it's now saying the base model price is $999. I've spoken to all of them and they're all sure it said $899 a few days ago.
Has the price gone up in the last few days at all? or have we mistakenly viewed some other price?

Sorry, I should have googled first. It seems we got slugged 15% overnight purely for having silly accents. Absolutely ridiculous.

  • Why the huge price rise for films in UK iTunes store?

I have recently noticed an inexplicably huge rise in some film prices on the UK iTunes store.
The films I mean are mainly old British ones (1940s-1950) which were all previously £2.99. Admittedly this was cheap but still in line with other retailers. Now, all of these have gone up to £7.99 - more than double the price! I'm glad I purchased all the Terry Thomas films when I did as these are among the affected items, which also include films starring Norman Wisdom, Will Hay and others of that ilk.
This goes far beyond the VAT issue which has previously been discussed. It seems Apple are just being brazenly greedy now with price rises left and right. Has anyone from the US or other countries noticed this happening in their stores too?

I checked a few old films and Amazon's prices match iTunes:
    Oliver Twist (1948)
    iTunes Rent £2.49 Buy £9.99
Amazon Rent £2.49 Buy £9.99 (or on DVD for £3.70)
    Oh, Mr. Porter (1937)
    iTunes Rent £2.49 Buy £7.99
Amazon Buy only £7.99 (or on DVD for £4.10)
    The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934)
    iTunes Rent £2.49 Buy £4.99
    Amazon Rent £2.49 Buy 4.99
A Tale of Two Cities (1935)
    iTunes Rent £2.49 Buy £9.99
    Amazon Rent £2.49 Buy £9.99
excepting only that for some reason you can't rent Oh, Mr. Porter on Amazon. £9.99 does seem a little excessive for The Scarlet Pimpernel. I suppose it's a 'what the market can bear' calculation.
    Interestingly:
    La Dolce Vita
iTunes SD Rent £3.49 Buy £9.99 (HD Rent £4.49 Buy £13.99)
Not on Amazon except as a DVD £19.99 (of course it is a three hour film), but
Curzon Cinema (not stated if SD or HD) Rent £2.00 no purchase.

  • Bt Price Rise

Today I called up after not receiving my letter about the new price rise. I was told I could not cancel because i already knew about it. I asked someone about the price rise in September because my broadband was playing up. They told me i should ring up on the 4th of January. So I did.
I spoke to a lady. She was so unhelpful and kept claiming that I had to pay the £200 change to leave. I had no choice. BT customer service is awful. I hate Bt you do not inform me when prices go up. I gave up in the end and hung up. Look like I will have to stay with Bt till next year. I will be moving next year. I was upset in the summer all i did was change my package to unlimited calls I was tie in to a contract. I then took out broadband with BT but what a mistake it work when it wants too.
I will never recommend BT to anyone. I have had to go to Virgin Media for broadband. This was because I rang BT for help with my broadband. I was passed to India. 3 hours on the phone and the woman goes i will now reset your wifi password. I was connected to Ethernet. What a joke

  • UK Price rise for iPhone

Why has the US price of the 16Gb phone remained static (ZDNet today 'nothing else has changed'!) but the UK price has risen from £269 to £329 - an extra £60 ($120)!
The extra 16Gb nearly made it worth it but not with such an unfair price rise!
    I'm STILL not buying one!
Sorry this isn't a question- just felt I had to vent my frustration somewhere.

You must be mistaken: the US 16 GB iPhone is $100 more expensive than the 8GB model. See:

  • 2014 Price Rises - Delayed move?

I'm not happy with the price rises and plan to move. I will be calling BT within 10 days of my email to notify them of my wish to cancel, but what happens then? Will they automatically issue me with a MAC or can I delay getting a MAC and get it in another few weeks while still not incuring termination fees?
I have got pre-paid Line Rental Saver until 8th December and the price rises don't come in until January so I'm not in a rush. I want to transfer to another provider and ideally in time for start of December. If I have to transfer now, I will but I would prefer to wait, which surely in BTs interests anyway.

ISPs are obliged by Ofcom to provide a MAC within 5 working days, but be aware that BT like most of the others tend to stretch that to the max. You're certainly brave to cancel before you've had your formal price increase notification, despite what the agent said. Even keeping precisely to the guidance doesn't always guarantee a smooth process, one of the reasons why this forum gets a steady supply of contributors.
Hope your hitchless wish is granted; it would be interesting if you can take the time to let us know in due course.
PlusNet have accepted the MAC the agent gave me over the phone.
I've had formal notification of the price increase (I got an email on Thursday), so as stated in paragraph 20 of t&c's I've used one of the contact options to notify them of my intention to cancel. I just don't have evidence that I have done this, other than her word that she will put notes on my account and the fact I've got a MAC code. I will report back on my experience once I've got my final bill.

  • Price Rise and Cancellation query

With the recent price rise announced is it possible to cancel my BT phone, sports and infinity without cost?
If so when would that be possible?

  • Out of contract - price rises - would you stay or ...

Given the recent price increases, and other fibre options (Sky and Plusnet), and you were out of contract, would you stay with BT and suck up the increases, or move to a (cheaper) competitor.  Only concerned with broadband and line rental. not really interested in the TV packages

Difficult to answer. You would have to compare everything that you get with what ever package you are on.  If you are out of contract, contact the options team   0800 800 030  and see what sort of deal they can offer you. It might beat the other ISPs.

  • Price Changes from 5 January 2013

BT Broadband Option 1 increases from £17.80 to £18.85
BT Broadband Option 2 increases from £22.50 to £23.80
BT Broadband Option 3 increases from £26.80 to £28.35
BT Infinity Option 1 increases from £21.00 to £22.20
BT Infinity Option 2 increases from £26.80 to £28.35
The standard line rental price increases from £14.60 to £15.45
The Unlimited Anytime Plan increases from £4.90 to £5.15.
What if I'm unhappy with the price changes?
We're sorry you're are unhappy about how the price rises affect you and would rather that you stayed with BT as we believe we offer fantastic services and products. We've kept a number of our key prices frozen since December 2011 and will be freezing many of our prices again from the 5 January 2013 until 2014 at the earliest. However if you contact us directly within 10 calendar days of receiving our price change notification you may cease your services without penalty.
Well I for 1can not afford to pay anymore than what I'm paying so I'm off.

    It's lunacy.
Just had "the email" myself and I'm wondering just how many millions BT must have spent in their fight with SKY for advertising that customers come to BT for phone, broadband and vision and how many, including me, will be staying.
I can't afford these price hikes.  We are in a recession in the UK - or hasn't BT noticed?
Going to have to change provider.  Shame on BT to them and to the customers who have already been paying a lot more than the competions prices - and I wonder how they will explain the (massive) migration from BT to other providers in January to the shareholders
I am going to apply for my MAC in December, so I am not in the pile up!

  • Price increases on Jan 4

I calculate that with £1.75 each for caller display and 1571, together with the increase for broadband and line rental, our bill will increase by about 15% from Jan 4.
We have been offered Infinity free for a year, however, in the small print it is stated that from month 13 the call plan will increase by an amount which will be 50% higher than we are currently paying.
Rang Customer Services and operator was hopeless, could not address my complaints, offered to send a link with the increases and then deliberately cut me off.
I used to think B.T. was a blue chip company but not anymore!! Very poor and remote customer srvices and marketing which is akin to timeshare operators.
How can it only issue bills by email unless paid for by the customer, but can send phoney unsolicted offers by post.
If B.T wants to look after the bloated football industry through excessive sponsorship deals please do not ask the ordinary public to subsidise it by stealth charges.

We are in the middle of the worst economic crisis the world has ever known. People are going hungry just to be able to put petrol in their cars to go to work and BT are putting their prices up, by more than a 3rd in some cases????
People can't afford to go out and now they are struggling to afford to stay in.
    A bit melodramatic!
Perhaps. But the sports rises in particular are ridiculous. And if it isn't due to the ofcom appeal then what possible excuse do BT have for a 38% price rise?

  • Not Received Official Notification of Price Increa...

I just rejoined BT a few weeks ago, 3 days after joining I read on here about the pending price rises.
I have not as yet had an officiaql communication from BT re this. I am intending cancelling and returning to my previous supplier bbut I am concerned I may have missed this.
Is the email sent to the BT email address or the one I have registered for "My BT" with?

you will receive it to your master BT email address or by post the rises may not affect you as a new customer

  • Correcting Incorrect Price in the PO

We have a PO with incorrect price that need to be corrected
The PO was created for a raw material with qty 1200 CS for price 120 EUR/CS (this price is incorrect). The goods are received and are now consumed.
The Vendor has now sent the invoice for the correct price which is 12 EUR/CS.
So, there will be no problem about paying the vendor with the correct price. But i would like to get the PO price corrected as this will effect the inventory and material price.
The GR reversal is not prossible now since all the goods are now consumed. I would consider MR21 as the last option to correct the material price.
What would be the best way to get the things corrected within the PO itself?

    Hello
Technically it is possible to change the PO Price after GR also.
Better think of Revaluation of Invoice  T code MRNB
    Logistics->Materials Management->Logistics Invoice Verification->Automatic Settlement->Revaluation
This T code is use in retrospective Pricing.  SAP Library - Logistics Invoice Verification (MM-IV-LIV)
consider the following business case, typically where volumes are high , say automobile industry
One PO of  USD 10 for 1000 Nos
Supplier is supplying material with USD10 , 500 Nos delivery is completed. Now due to forced market conditions for example rise in raw material price etc supplier is asking rate for USD12. But the case is still under negotiation with buyer. when negotiations are on , supplier can not stop the supply to company due to heavy demand, Buyer gave him assurance that after decided date (negotiated) date he will give him revised price rise , but not to stop the supply.
In such cases MRNB is used. For selected goods receipts this transaction is giving revaluation effects, means GR's in selected date ranges gets effect of USD12 rate for received quantity. Thus your inventory valuation gets corrected and it generates liability in finance.
Prerequisites for this in SAP system are
    1) Vendor must be marked for revaluation allowed ( Purchasing view)
    2) Purchase order shall be amended to new purchasing rate.
    Thanks and Regards

  • No notification received of price changes

I have never received any notification of price changes and to my surprise, they they are on my latest bill, including a charge for Caller Display that previously didn't cost me anything.
Now don't get me wrong, I understand the commercial aspect of rising charges but, on the flip side, I also understand the responsibility of the vendor to ENSURE that their customers are advised and not just to say "We've been making every effort to ensure that everyone got full notice of the price changes well in advance. We sent notification to you personally in October and November 2013 via Update magazine (included with your bill), or via emails (from [email protected]) or letters."
Update Magazine is not something I receive as I use e-billing, and I've never received an email from bt.athome with any price rise details. So in this instance BT have NOT ensured I have been kept informed. T's&C's Section 52 "We will also let you know about a price increase or a change to the terms and conditions that we believe is likely to cause you material disadvantage at least one month before it happens. We will do this in writing (which may include by letter, email, with your bill or by any other permitted method). We will let you know about other changes to prices and our terms and conditions with your next available bill or by an alternative method if this is simpler."
This clearly didn't happen. Is this a breach of contract? Quite simple really. YES
So Mr/Mrs/Ms BT, would you care to attend to this glaringly obvious breach of contract and deal with me directly or would you rather we did this elsewhere, perhaps a courtroom??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had a lengthy, heated and quite extensive exchange with a Billing Manager today who finally agreed that I had not been notified if the email they apparently sent to my BT email account remains unread.
In light of this, BT have now reverted my most recent bill back to pre-increase prices and I have cancelled the caller display option that was previously free.
Thank you all for your comments. I managed to resolve this by good old fashioned logic and knowledge of criminal and contract law and finally, perseverance. Feel free to contact me when you need to complain next !!

  • What will the renewal price be for the Photoshop Photography Program after the first year

The price is listed as $9.99 a month for the first year. After that the terms says "After the first 12 months, we  will automatically renew your contract based on the current price of the offering". Since the offering goes away after the end of this year what does that actually mean? Will we get switched to something that costs a lot more?

Budget that it will go up in year two to $15 then in year three to $18 and year four to $20 and year five to $25.
If inflation kicks in you can expect some major price rises

  • Price Increases from 1/12/2014

Just received a letter and leaflet from BT detailing the price increases.
Are BT trying to make pricing so complicated that we will not be able to understand them?
They are introducing an additional line rental called Line Rental Plus which will have additional facilities and cost an additional £2 a month. Those who are not paying by direct debit will be transferred to this package with no choice. They are however ending the £2 processing fee for those nor paying by direct debit. Seems to be a con way of charging those not paying by direct debit more!!
I can not find any mention in the letter or leaflet about Caller Display. When the price increases were published last year a charge for Caller Display was introduced but it remained free if a new 1 year contract was taken out.
Looking on BT website I can find no mention of charges for Called Display other than last years announcement.
So what is the position this year? Are there charges for Called Display and if so where can we find details?
    Regards
    Peter

Companies like BT have been over-complicating their prices for years.  What bugs me about the letter is that it's personally addressed to me, yet only lists some of the price rises that apply to me.  I then have to visit their web site to discover the rest of them.  Even that's not totally transparent, as I have to follow another link and enter my account details to find the last few price rises.  There may be a lot of surprised customers in December who find that their bills have gone up by a lot more than they were expecting.
The caller display is still free if you agree to a 12 month phone contract.  So when your current contract ends, they will start charging.  You then have to agree to a new contract to get it free again.  It's BT's trick to lock customers into endless rolling contracts that you can only get out of once a year - or twice when you count the option to cancel whenever BT announce their latest price rises.

  • 1250% price increase on Hub phone calls to New Zea...

In October 2010, a 44-minute call to NZ using the Hub phone cost £0.78 (ca. 1.8p/min)
    In July 2013, a 16-minute call cost £0.40 (ca. 2.4p/min)
    In Dec 2013, a 31-minute call cost £9.56 (ca. 30p/min)
I don't recall BT telling me that using the Hub phone would suddenly increase by about 1250%. I've not changed any package or recontracted, and just pick up the hub phone from our HH 1.5, and use it as I always have for the past decade or so.
I am puzzled as to how I missed this massive price rise. Can anyone explain please?

    Keith_Beddoe wrote:
If the BBT fails, yes, calls automatically fall back to the landline number. You can only tell by listening to the different dial-tone.
Fallback is implemented to ensure you nearly always have a working line. Its not 100% foolproof, if there is a routing issue on the BBT line, but then you usually get no dial tone.
Thanks Keith. If you use the phone memory to make calls, as I do, then you don't hear the dial tone! And even if you do hear it, and don't use the phone often, you are not going to be alert to a different dial tone.
Certainly not 100% fool-proof. I've just been rooting around on the BT site and found nothing in big red letters to warn that if your BTTalk line becomes deactivated you will incur charges that are 17 times higher
