Printer 1200n, printer message not in my booklet

On the message bar, 4 yellow lights appear in bottom row, with icon 2nd from left lit on top row.
Message appears that all inks have expired. However the large ink menu I have that show percentages of how much ink is available, show the least amount to be 43 percent (black), the rest is more. So I don't understand what this message really means, I know there is ink there. two were recently put in.

The reason is probably due to the additional network and because you have said:

MAC filtering and non-broadcast SSID can cause this kind of issue especially in a crowded area. There may also be a hidden wireless network broadcasting on your channel which will also cause similar issues.
A wireless network is still broadcasting and therefore detectable regardless of whether you broadcast the SSID (closed network) or not.
As for MAC address access control, if you are having problems connecting it is usually down to this and as MAC addresses are sent unecrypted can be read and spoofed and therefore do not add any security.
Unfortunately "Closed" networks, MAC access control lists, and reduction in transmission power are all more "feel good" security rather than real security. All these various approaches are dated and mistakenly lead to overconfidence.
As you have WPA enabled, I would disable MAC filtering and broadcast your SSID.
WPA is virtually uncrackable and therefore you do not need to worry about hiding your network.

The easiest and fastest thing for you is to reset the printer to its defaults and then just install the printer again following the instructions in the manual when you received it. If you don't have these you will find this on the HP web site.

Message that printer cannot be found in directory; my printer is not printing

My HP Photosmart 5514e - all in one printer - will not print. I have gotten a message that it is not found in the directory. I have tried so many different things -- printer will be 3 years old at the end of the month.

I read your post about your Photosmart 5514 not printing from your Windows XP system, and I would like to help.
I would like for you to start with running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.
Please send me the results in a screen shot, or through written text is alright too!
Try printing from Notepad, and from a website, for example. Let me know if you can print from either place. It's always good to test print from more than one program as sometimes a program has a glitch and won't print.
Also try making a copy from the front of the printer, and tell me if copies work.
In the meantime, you can try a power reset, firmware update, and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

Message error: "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File Save."

I have 2 problems creating a .ps file.
As i know, there are 2 ways of creating a Postcript file from a PDF.
The first is from the Print monitor. I go through menu File/Page Setup i give the exact dimensions from my spreaded pages and after that i go to Print and when this window opens,
i go down and left and i open the pop-up menu on"PDF" and i choose "Save PDF as Postscript"
There is where i get the above error message :
"Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save."
And the second scenario, i get an equal problem.
If i go to Page setup and give the right dimensions of my spreaded document, after that i go to the File/Save as command, there is choose from the bottom pop-up menu, the option at Format: Postscript
If i do that i get the following message:
"The document could not be saved. An internal error occured."
What is wrong with all this?
Can anyone help me out?

"Printer cartridges not installed correctly" error message

HP Tech Support and HP Envy Users, Still getting the "Printer cartridges not installed correctly" error message for no good reason and it's July 2015! HP should have fixed this problem a long time ago based on the date of the posts from users. And/or corrected the misleading error message, as the users did install them correctly. I didn't get an installation error message when I installed my cartridges and I have been able to print successfully on this current set of cartridges. My error message appeared out of the blue. I've done all the troubleshooting steps except replace BOTH cartridges. I will do that. If the error message goes away once I've replaced one or both cartridges, HP should have long provided an update that says, "replace ink cartridges" and not the misleading one of not being installed correctly. If that doesn't clear up the problem, I will call HP as it's still under warranty. Hope I didn't get one of the "lemons" that require servicing.

I haven't been able to try this fix, but someone emailed me the below fix:
I had same problem.Elements13 would not open my new default printer, but worked ok on four other versions of Elements. No help from Adobe, after three days of searching & phoning adobe , I found out by:- Going into Elements 13, Press Edit button, down to "Preferences and across to general. Press the "Reset Preferences on next launch". I then suggest you go through each section to make sure that your chosen preference are still ticked/checked in.
It worked for me. Hope same for you.
I'm planning on trying this fix soon. Let me know how it goes for you if you get to try it before me. Will do the same. Thanks,

hi, I'm a newbie wrt to mac printer operation.
1.I installed a mg3220 using the wps button on my smc barricade router and can print wireless with a windows 7 printer.
2. my wife has a mac. The printer is on and connected direcly with the usb cable.
she gets the error message " the printer is not connected".
how can we override this error message and print via USB?

Hi, I have 10.6.8 and an HP printer so it may be slightly different but I'll give it my best shot:
Go to System Preferences.
Click on "Print & Fax"
Near the top of that page you should see "Print" and "Scan" options. Click "Scan"
A button appears that says "open scanner"
The settings are different between the different scanner models so I'm not sure what the next window will look like, but it should be pretty straightforward from there. It will scan to a JPEG image which you can attach to an email. I hope that helps! Let me know if there's anything ense I can help with.

WLST redirect command does not log print messages

I am using redirect to log WLST messages in a logfile, while my WLST Jython script is running. However, I am using the print command to output various messages, but I am finding that these print messages are not in the logfile.
How do I get such messages in the "redirect logfile" ?

Hi, I have a similar situation.
I am exec the WLST code from within an application.
When using the WLST scripting, and trying to use the "print" statement for logging messages, we can see the message on the console, but the messages do not show up in our logfile (using java.util.logging.Logger).
For example, if my script has: print "test message"
This will apppear on the console output, but not in my logfile.
But other messages derived from the script are logged.
For example, if in the WLST script we call startEdit(), then the message "Starting an edit session..." will appear in both the console and logfile as expected.
Not sure why the print statement will not get directed to the logfile. Have tried both using statements in single quotes and double quotes, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any idea how we can log from WLST to ensure our logs capture all messages?
I don't want to explicitly open the logfile as shown in your example, as its already open by the logger.

You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. The Product/Model Number of your printer. Follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number.
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
