Printer cannot connect

For some reason after having migrated to/from a different network setup I am unable to print to a print queue on my Mac mini server. It might also have started with the latest security update. Whatever I do (turn firewalls off/on, recreate printer queues on clients or on the server, choose various methods of sharing (IPP, LPR), nothing works, and what is worse, nothing appears in logs so I can debug.
Printers do not show up in Open DIrectory printer lsts, so at least that is wrong. But I haven't been able to find out how to get them there.
Any helps, recipes, to get things started from scratch?

Hi!
Well, first off, you need to install proper drivers for the printer/printers you are using on the server. Then, on the server System Preferences, I'd say re-add the printers in the Printer & Fax tab. Bonjour should pick up most printers from the network if you have proper drivers. Now, Try printing to the printers from the server. If it works, go ahead and launch your Server Admin
Go to Print service and Queues. If you have your old one there, maybe you should delete that and Create new Printer Pool. Insert the name for the pool and add the printers into the printer pool, and prefer to use IPP protocol. I have understood that it is the most used. Then hit save, You maybe should restart the print service now. When its running, search your network on the client for the pool you created. At least Bonjour should pick it up.

    Hello youssi,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you scan to email you're receiving a message stating cannot connect to server. I will do my best to assist you! Please follow this entire HP document on How to Scan: From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a PDF, and to a Network Folder) just to make sure everything is correct.
If this doesn't work, then please follow these steps to try setting an alternative DNS to see if that resolves the issue:
    •    Open the Embedded Web Sever on your computer.
    •    Click the Network tab.
    •    Under Wireless click on IPv4.
    •    Under DNS Address Configuration select Manual.
    •    Set the Preferred address as 8.8.8.8
    •    Set the Alternate address as 8.8.4.4
    •    Click Apply twice to confirm the change.
    •    Turn the printer Off and back On and see if the issue is resolved.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • Printer cannot connect to server

    Hi,
I have recently purchased a HP 6510a and it says successfully connected to my network. I've printed out the reports as outlined in the support pages and had passes. Downloaded the Scan and Print doctor and troubleshooting software to no avail. It has a static IP address assigned in my router.
I have connected the printer to my main machine with a USB and all is fine, but when searching for it from my other machine linked wirelessly it cannot find printer (also main machine cannot convert to use wireless - same issue). I then tried to go into ePrint on printer and check for firmware updates, but that says 'cannot connect to server'. Is there some port I need to unblock in my router, or something?
    Thanks,
    Paul.

Let's set a static IP address AND an external DNS for the printer:
    - Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
    - Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
    - Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
    - Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
    - Click 'Apply'.
Your antivirus software/firewall could be getting in the way, here.

  • Printer cannot connect to server issue

hp office jet 6500a plus ,windows 7, trying to e print from an app and my printer thats wireless says it cannot connect to server

For those who are experiencing ongoing issues with their web services, you can attempt to try the following steps that may
    help resolve your problems.
1.) Completely shut down your printer and restart it
2.) If you have prints that have not printed, log into ePrint Center (or create an account if you do not have one) and
then look for your printer status. If printer status is green but you still have pending jobs, delete the pending jobs one at
a time (Starting with the oldest first). There may be a print job stuck in the queue that further restricts other jobs from
    completing.
    a. If option 1 or 2 above still doesn’t work, removing web services and re-adding web services will cause the printer to
    reattach to the cloud.
    b. Please note that if you attempt option 3, you will get a new eprint email address (and lose your custom one with no
ability to get it back) furthermore, you will need to re-add your printer back to your ePC account.

  • Printer cannot connect at port 9600

    Hello,
    OS 10.5.6
I have a Laser Jet directly connected to one computer with an ethernet cable. The IP address and default gateway are set at 192.168.1.15 and the subnet mask is at 255.255.255.0.
When I try to print there is an error which says :
"Attempting to connect to host NPIC86923.local. on port 9100
Unable to connect to printer will try in 30 seconds."
All the addresses seem right, the printer shows up and the driver is the newest from HP for OS 10.5
    Ideas?
    Thanks, Garrett

The printer's assigned IP address cannot be the same as your network's default gateway address. Typically the router's gateway address might be 192.168.1.1. The router may serve addresses between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.199. The printer's IP address must then be somewhere within that range.
If the printer supports DHCP then it would be preferable to configure the printer to use DHCP rather than trying to assign the TCP/IP parameters manually.
Open Network preferences on the computer and select the Ethernet port. The displayed information will provide the Router or Gateway IP address for your network.
Select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "add printer" to locate the help articles on adding and configuring a printer.

  • Printer cannot connect to the server when "checking for update". Can't setup eprint.

I have an Officejet 4620 All-in-one working wireless. It prints, scans and sends and receives faxes well. After setting up a fixed IP address, I started to get this problem. I test the wireless connection pressing the wireless button and report says everthing's fine. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit SP1.
This is how I configured IPv4:
    IP Address 10.0.0.250
    Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 10.0.0.67
    Preferred DNS Address 10.0.0.67
    Alternate DNS Address
    WINS Server 0.0.0.0
    Secondary WINS Server 0.0.0.0

    doghaus,
Change your preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and your alternate to 8.8.4.4.
Let me know if that works for you.

  • Printer cannot connect with the Laptop - IP address are the same which is the issue

I have a HP Photosmart All in One printer that is connected to a desktop wirelessly and it works effectively on the desktop.  I had it connected to a laptop as well. It stopped working one day with the laptop and has not worked since. It continues to work with the  desktop. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the installation on the laptop, still does not work.  When I go to connect the laptop to the network and put in the IP address it says "The IP address entered is currently being used by this computer. Please confirm that your printer actually has this IP address or enter the correct address below and click search"  I have checked, double checked and tripled checked and it is the IP address that I got from the printer.  Same issue comes up with using the Host name.   Can anyone provide me with a solution? Thank you!!

Hi, Please give printer a FIX IP address, say from 200 to 254 and it will stay. Your other devices (phones, tablets ... ) including computers can use other addresses from 2 to 199 or from 1 to 199. Regards.

  • My printer cannot connect to Web services

    Hi,
When I tried to set up the Web Services, I got an error.
The error is "Server problem. The printer could not connect to Web Services. The server might be busy or temporary unavilable. Try it again later."
I am connected to the internet (WiFi) and the Internet connection is no problem.  I have had this problem for 2days. I would appreciate any your advice.
    Thank you.

  • C310 Series Printer Cannot Connect to Network

I have a Verizon wireless 802.11g router with WAP2 Security enabled. All other wireless devices in my house have no problem connecting to my network but this new printer has not been able to connect since I first turned it on. I get the same error every time. The infamous MAC filtering error.
I have reset the printer to default, turned the printer and router on and off. Searched high and low through the HP website, and these forums. I keep seeing the same answers:
    1. Check your SSID - check!
    2. Check your WPA key - check!
    3. Make sure MAC Authentification is disabled - check!
    4. Make sure Channel Selection is set to "Auto" - check!
    5. Try turning Modem/Printer off and on - Been there done that
    6. Try reseting printer to factory defaults - Uh I just got it out of the box, but what the hell tried that too...
    ....and no connecty.
What am I missing here... Please help.

Sometimes Internet service providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the Internet line that runs between the router and the wall
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the router.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know, use the current IP address.
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Enter your router's IP (on the self-test printout) for the gateway and first DNS.
    - Leave the second one blank.
    - Click 'Apply'.
    - Finally, plug in the Internet line, reboot the router and test.

  • Printer cannot connect to the server

I am going bonkers! For no reason that I can fathom my printer does not connect to the server (i.e. my PC). I have downloaded the latest drivers. I have uninstalled and re-installed. I have run the HP Doctor. The printer finds my router ok and has been set up correctly. The same problem exists with my laptop. I have windows 8.1 and HP Officejet 6600. I am at my wits end. It has worked and nothing has changed. I have run a strict anti-virus checker too. Does anyone out there have a clue as to what is going on? I will be so grateful for your help. Oh yes when I logged on to the HP site and live chat I was told my printer was out of warranty - it is only a month old! So no help there.

    doghaus,
Change your preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 and your alternate to 8.8.4.4.

  • Cannot connect printer (F4580) to router

    Good evening,
I just bought my printer and I am having the hardest trouble connecting it to my router (Linksys WRT150N). When I try to set it up, I follow the instructions but the result is always the same! It says that the printer cannot connect to the router and it asks me if the SSID it correct, which it is! What can I do?

Tell me about your network - router brand/model, encryption type (WEP, WPA, etc) and ISP type (DSL, Cable, etc).
    What operating system?

  • Can't get printer to connect to my Galaxy Note3

I can't setup my hp2540 printer to my Galaxy Note3

Hi alBorderp, welcome to the HP Forums. Your Deskjet 2540 is supported to work with the 'HP All-in-One Printer Remote' app. First you would need to get the printer installed wirelessly on your home router, or using Wireless Direct. Step one of this document shows you how to enable Wireless Direct if you wish to just communicate directly to the printer from your Tablet: Printing from an Apple or Android Mobile Device with HP Wireless Direct
Once your printer is available Wirelessly, you can install the 'HP All-in-One Printer Remote' app. After it is installed, you can tell your tablet to connect to the same network that the printer is on. If you are on your home router, make sure the tablet connects to the 2.4ghz network, as the printer cannot connect to the 5.0ghz network.
Here is an FAQ on the app in question: HP All-in-One Printer Remote Mobile App FAQs
Let me know if you have any difficulties, I hope this helps.
