Printing Issue on a MacPro and Lion

When using any Apple prgram, such as Pages, Numbers, Text, etc. and I try to print to my laser printer from my MacPro I get an error and the following message:
You don’t have permission to write to the folder that the file “Untitled” is in. You can duplicate this document and edit the duplicate. Only the duplicate will include your changes.
Even duplicatiing doesn't seem to solve the issue plus I don't always get the dialog. The insteresting thing is I don't have this issue; however, when I print to my ink jet printers. I also don't have an issue printing to the laser printer when using my new iMac or my MacBook Pro - only seems to happen with my MacPro. I have hunted around but can't seem to find the problem.
All three Mac's are running Lion and the same software.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Sky.

+1. Can I ingest AVCHD into an Intel mac, convert it to Pro Res or AIC and then transfer it on an external drive to a G5 for editing?+
Use FCP6 (Easy set up>choose DVCPROHD and use the specific settings of your source material i.e 720p24 etc. ) , Create a new bin and set it as the new logging bin open Log&Transfer after you connect your camera through FW and FCP will ingest your media as ProRess (in Log & Transfer window you can chek this in preferences>click thr gear button on left of the viewer), just make sure that your external drive is connected and that you choosed it as your scratch disk (Final Cut Pro> system settings).
+2. Is there any format or way that the ingested AVCHD can later be transferred and edited on a G5?+
DVCPRO HD is what I use.

  • Printing Issues with HP D145 and multiple users from G5

Hi - I've a HP D145 All-In-One connected via USB to a G5 (as described below). The machine has multiple accounts on for different members of my family. The printer is directly connected to the G5 via USB connection but is shared with other Macs. Printing has become increasingly difficult, and we now have the following problems:
    1. Printing will only work from the administrators account.
    2. Printing periodically (daily, generally after a few hours of use) stops from the administrators account
    Solutions tried:
    a. Check set up for the non-administrators accounts....Looks OK for printing
    b. When printing stops - I've tried repairing the permissions with the Disk Utility. This no longer works.
    c. Run Printer Setup Repair (with option to repair all user accounts) - Works for the administrators account providing the computer and printer are restarted, otherwise no effect.
    d. Reinstalling the software - No effect
It’s beginning to look like I need to replace this printer with one that works.
You can help me in two ways - how to solve the printer problems, or alternatively suggest a colour All-in-One printer that can work with multiple accounts and does not have the problems mentioned above.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Melvyn

Below I've copied the fix HP proposed and some additional information that they have sent me.
    1. The proposed fix that we could not make work:
    Hello Melvyn,
Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.

Set this printer as the default.
You should now be able to print from all accounts.
    Sincerely,
    2. The reasons why it may not have worked:
We need to be sure that you are fully logging out of one account and
then back into the next. The fast user switching feature of the Mac OS
can create problems with our printer drivers. For this reason, fast user
switching is not supported by HP.
The other issue we may be running into would be the Mac OS itself. Over
the past few months the Mac OS has gone through several updates. When
the 10.4.4 version was released it created some issues with our existing
software. An updated version of our software has been developed which
works well with 10.4.4 and higher, but it is not available for this
    printer.
It may be that as each new OS update is installed on your computers that
the issue becomes worse. If you are running the Mac OS 10.4.3 or lower
then the version 7.3.1 of our software should work fine. If it is 10.4.4
or higher there will be some issues as the new OS versions do not seem
    to like the older drivers.
I would have to recommend retrying the full uninstall the Derek had
outlined. This time however, just install the downloaded 7.3.1 software
from our web site for the D145. Once it has been installed we need to
test it fully without adding the scanjet software. I am hoping that
without both version of our software installed it may work better.
This should resolve the issue. If you need further assistance, please
reply to this message and we will be happy to assist you further.
    3. The repsonse to questions on switching and OS X 10.4.4
You are correct, since you are running the 10.4.4 I cannot guarantee
that the older software version will allow full functionality. It should
allow for printing and as long as you avoid the fast user switching,
when trying to print, it should keep working well.
I understand the convenience of fast user switching but you will have to
log completely out of one user, and then log properly into the next
before you can expect the printer to function.
I would still recommend trying the steps I had outlined as it really is
the only thing you can do that may work.

  • Print issue with Photoshop CS4 and Officejet 6500

I have a Windows 7 Business 64 bits desktop computer. After  installing the Officejet Pro 6500 multifunctional drivers all was  working OK. Images were being printed nice and with the correct size  using Windows print option. After installing Adobe CS4 suite, all images  printed from windows or Photoshop have incorrect size (photoshop prints  it smaller, about 33%, and on upper left corner of the sheet).
Photoshop sucks but Illustrator print fine. The only way I can print  at the good size in Photoshop, it's when I select Microsoft XPS  document writer as printer and print from there... Not very user friendly !!!
And  yes, it was always the HP Officejet 6500 E709n fax selected by default  by Photoshop instead of  HP Officejet 6500 E709n !
Is anybody can say if it's an HP issue or an Adobe issue ??? Why Illustrator print fine and Photoshop don't ???
    Thank's  in advance.

Deleting the fax printer  associated with this device to allows correct printing is not an  acceptable alternative for me.
If it is a printer issue, why I can print correctly from Illustrator ???
    dec9 wrote:
Or: you can go into windows and select a default printer or then the one you use to print with in PS. Then when you are ready to print in PS select the printer. See if that works.
That's my normal configuration then I can't change nothing when all is ok.
Thank you very much for your answer ! Maybe anybody have an other solution or explanation.

  • Issues with Macbook Pro and Lion

    Hi Folks,
Since I upgraded to Lion I have been having issues with Lion/Macbook Pro.
On occassions whilst using my magic mouse the mouse will start highlighting everything, neither left or right clicking will alleviate this. The only option I have is to go to the Apple menu and right click to reveal it (left click does nothing). I then have to right click on restart which produces the restart window, I then have to press "enter" to reboot the Macbook.
This issue originally started with 10.7.2 and I was hoping 10.7.3 would cure this issue, unfortunately this is not the case.
I have tried using a Logitech wireless mouse to see if it is an issue with the Magic Mouse but the same happens.
One issue which I have noted on the forums is that Lion does not like external monitors and I use a Dell 2209WA with the Macbook Pro in clamshell mode but not sure if this may have any link.
I have tried everything I can find on the forums but to no avail and would be very grateful if anyone out there had similar issues or better had found a solution.
    Many thanks,
    Iain

Your understanding of the problem seems correct to me. There's no way to fix it except to replace the logic board.

  • PDF Printing Issue (Converting to Spool and back to PDF)

    Hi,

  • Weird printing issue between reader 7 and 9

Hi, I just was made aware of an issue by one of my users, regarding printing a PDF file.  I recently replaced his computer, both the old one and the new one are XP Pro SP3, the old one has reader 7, the new one has 9.  The file in question is laid out legal (8.5x14) landscape and I believe it was created in Acrobat 4.x.  It's a production schedule, roughly 10 pages.  The left half side of each page has a list of items, and the right half has checkboxes for our manufacturing process.  The guy printing the file is in shipping, and he just needs the left half of the page and is trying to print it as letter portrait.  Under reader 7, we are clicking File, Print, set it to No scaling, uncheck Auto-Rotate and Center.  If you look in the preview window, you see the legal/landscape page, but there is a white letter/portrait box over the left side of the page, and the right side is grayed out.  Click OK, and that's what it prints.  This is good.
Now, in reader 9, if we do all the same things and print the file, what prints is the right half of the page, which is grayed out in the preview.  This is happening on his new computer (xp pro sp3, reader 9) as well as on my box (win7 ult, reader 9) and happens on multiple printers.  Only thing I see different is the reader version.  Has anyone else ran into this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Duane Pittman

    Hi,
Could you please send the test document to shilpi at adobe dot com for us to investigate the issue at our end?

  • IP Printing Issue -- Unable to connect and print

I'm trying to print to a network printer that's connected by cable to my wireless router using IPP. The error message reads "Unable to connect to IPP host." The IP address I used for the printer was obtained from the printer test page. I also specified "generic postscipt printer" in the printer setup utility window. My printer and network info as follows:
    Printer -- HP LaserJet 4MV
    Router -- Linksys Wireless G
    Computer -- Powerbook G4, OSX.4
I've reset the printers in the Printer Utility to use the latest version driver for the HP. I can browse using my PBk so my wireless connection is working (in fact the PBk is in the same room as the router). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I don't have a manual for the printer and I'm not aware of a print server being included in the hardware. The printer is simply a HP LaserJet 4MV which has a I/O card installed with local talk, 10Base-T, parellel, and BNC connections. I'm using the 10Base-T connection to my router.
On the test page printout, it lists several things one of which is "Server Name" but it's blank with no entry. Under the heading "Mode" the entry reads "Queue Server." Don't know if any of this is relevant.

  • Printing issue between macbook pro and windows 7 pc

I am trying to print from my macbook pro to an HP printer, scanner and copier all in one unit. It worked perfect with my old xp pc but with the windows 7 I can't get them to communicate with each other. I was told by geek squad at best buy that I probably need to get a different router. they suggesed airport. My would like to know which one I need. I want to print to the printer that is attached to my windows 7 machine from my macbook pro. I also have couple other xp machines that are used from time to time and I need to be able to print from them as well. any suggestions??? frustrated in Birmingham

One more comment. Wired connection seem to be stable neither. I have ping running to the Windows computer and after a couple of minutes, it gets broken.
However if I have both WiFi and cable connection to the home router and disconnect from cable (after ping is broken), I get the network to the Windows comptuer back. Nothing serious on the network change, I just get 192.168.1.x instead of 192.168.1.y as IP).
During this network switch I do nothing with the Windows computer.
This is not valid if I want to connect to the Windows computer via Microsoft sharing (smb://192.168.1.x), then it immediately breaks the connection. Can't get it back until Windows is restarted.

  • Printing issue with microsoft word and excel

I open Microsoft 2004 Word and Excel separately and clicked on File / Open....not responding and so force quite. I went to Finder and opened the file directly and It did. But when I clicked Print, the print page doesn't show up. I closed the file. I opened other softwares and tried the Print and Save as PDF and it worked. I booted several times and reinstaled the Microsoft 2004 from original disk and did updates up to 11.6.3 versions. I rebooted again and still the same problem. Please help !

The Dell All in One 968W is basically a Lexmark 9500 series with a Dell badge. Dell do not support OSX but Lexmark have previously supplied a driver that works and allows me to print on the Dell printer.
However with 10.6 OSX will no longer support the Dell printer. I have tried using the supplied Lexamrk 9500 series dirvers with no luck, and I have tried going to back to the older Lexamrk dirver. The error message suggests that I need to get an updated driver from Lexmark. Lexamark do no yet provide this.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

    Have you find any solution????

I have a 2011 27" iMac (core i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB) with 2 external displays, most of the graphical issues are present in the external displays but the menu bar, dock and volume popup all appeared distorted on the main display.
On the external display most apps look like this http://i.imgur.com/FQ0AJ.png
there are a few exceptions like steam, safari and itunes, these apps don't show any distortion apart from when being switched the the other displays though, almost all other apps apear disdorted (as shown in the image) on the external displays.
I never had these issues with Snow Leopard but as far as I can tell its some kind of graphics driver problem, don't know how this wasn't spotted in the beta..

  • HP Printer issue after installing Mountain Lion

Hi, a few days ago I posted the following question regarding a printer issue and so far I have not been able to fix the problem.  Here's the original question and I will  continue the explanation after this....
Hi, I am a fairly new iMac owner and I am really happy with my apple, however I have an issue with my printer and I kind a "blame" Montain Lion for it.  I have been using this HP Laserjet P2015 dn printer for a long time, initially with Windows and now with iMac.  The first year approximately there was no problem at all to print and the transition from Windows to Mac with the printer had no difficulties at all.  It was connected wirelessly via router.  After downloading Montain Lion I notice the printer intermittently lost connectivity.  The only way to print was turn off and turn on and it will print fine until the next time.  Now out of the blue it's doing the same thing so frequently I can't print a complete document at all.  It starts, and finish without printing the entire document or not connect at all.  I have tried everything, including a static IP address for the printer, connect the printer to the computer via USB, downloading all the printer updates from HP and nothing seems to work.  Just now, I did it again (for 100 times so far), delete the printer, reinstall and it's doing the same thing.  It connects fine (either via IP or USB) and it last connected only for a minute or two.  That's it.  It's a shame, because I like the printer.  The printing quality is great and to add more pain, I recently got a new ink cartridge ($100.00) capable of printing 3000 pages.  It has 70% of ink still.  Any computer sabby person out there has any ideas for me? Like I said, I've done everything.... inluding,
    1.  Remove the printer
    2.  Update the drivers
    3.  Assign a static IP address to the printer
    4.  Connect via USB
    5.  Disconnect the  printer for a while and restart the whole process again
    6.  Did a "cold start" to the printer
I don't know what to do, and I don't want to spend more $$$$$ on a new printer.  Is Montain Lion to be blame for?  Please advise me.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
At this point I do have the printer connected only via USB, prints one page (perfectly) and then goes offline.  Before installing Mountain Lion I did use the printer with my Mac for almost a year with no issues at all.  I even downloaded Mountain Lion again thinking of any flaws during initial installation.  I've done all the updates, drivers, uninstall, re install, repair disk permission, static ip address....you name it... I've done it all and nothing seems to work.  What makes no sense to me is that prints so great only one page and then is gone.... I would be happy to know the printer is dead and go get a new one but in my mind if it prints ok one page it still works.  I don't want to have a new printer and find out it does the same thing.  I can't keep myself away from blaming Mountain Lion.  IS THERE ANY WAY TO REMOVE MOUNTAIN LION WITHOUT THE RISK OF DAMAGING THE COMPUTER????  PERHAPS GOING BACK WILL PROVE ME MOUNTAIN LION IS THE CULPRIT.  Just saying... I am totally frustrated.  I guess the next step is to get a baseball bat and fix the printer once and for all.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Any fix for this? I have the same problem after upgrade.  It's off by many seconds.  Thank you.

This initially fixed the problem and then it returned a few days laterAfter trawling the support forums found directions to change the print processor to “WinPrint” – No effect as the processor was already on this settingDownloaded the HP diagnostic tool – HP Print and Scan Doctor – didn’t fix anything Any further help would be much appreciated.

I noticed your post about the troubles you are running into when you attempt to install your OJ 6100 printer on your Windows 8.1 laptop. I read all of your attempts and seen you have tried several methods to try and get the installation to complete successfully.
I would like to make some suggestions that may help. Let me know how it goes!
    1. Check that Internet Explorer pop-up blockers are turned off before downloading the installer
Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker: How do I turn off Pop-up Blocker?
    Try to install
    2. If you're running McAfee Live Safe or any other firewall, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning".
    How to disable realtime scans
    Try the install
    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.
    Try the install

  • New airport extreme and printer issues

    OK here is the deal
I have the new airport and a hp psc 750 printer. I have a new macbook which can not print on this printer. It will recognize it thru bonjour but will not install the driver - the odd thing is that I have a pc connected directly and a windows based wireless laptop which both are able to print via this airport. I also have an external hard drive that is connected to the airport. All of the computers are able access this drive. So all appears in order except for the macbook-printer issue. I contacted tech support and they claimed driver issue. Anyone have any ideas - I have updated the most recent drivers for this computer and I was able to install this printer via a usb connection. Thanks

There have been a few posts about issues with HP printers working or not working as the case may be through the extreme. I can't remember what they say, but a search for HP in this forum may well help you.
Sorry to be so vague, just thought it might be a start for you.
