Problem attaching numbers to an email

When I try to attach a Numbers Document in Gmail and Yahoo mail instead of letting me attach a numbers file it shows two folders for QuickLook and Contents and a Zip file.  Why do they do this.  All I want to do is attach the document I created???

Hi Jimmeybobway,
I remember tne new numbers files being a problem for Gmail a while ago. It would see the file as a package/folder.
I think some people actually did make zip files of their Numbers docs for both gmail and dropbox. You might try mailing the zip file to yourself and unpacking it to see if your doc is contained there. Sending a Numbers doc thru gmail using Apple's Mail does work fine for me.

  • I am having problems attaching files to my email using the latest Firefox 13.0.1, Comcast is my internet provider, but I did not have problem with Safari.

Why am I having problems attaching files to my email using Firefox 13.0.1.?
I am using a MAC, OS 10.6.8, and have Comcast as my internet provider. I noticed after I upgraded to Firefox 13.0.1 that I am having problems attaching files to my email. I do not experience the same problem with Safari, but I prefer to use Firefox, as all of my bookmarks and passwords are saved there. I just like the way Firefox works better than Safari.
I am a free-lance graphic designer and rely on my internet connection to my customers. I need this resolved ASAP!

Could you start by resetting the zoom level on the page? To do that, you can either:
    * Press Ctrl+0 (that's a zero) on the keyboard
    * View menu > Zoom > Reset
You also can use zoom to increase/decrease the size from there. This article describes the various mouse, keyboard, and menu methods: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]].
    Any luck?

  • Problem attaching scanned documents to email.

After scanning and saving a document, I use the Attach function to attach it to an email.  That appears to work, but the document then cannot be opened and an error message appears that says an erroc occurred in opening.  As an alternative, I close Reader and open a new email, then use the Insert function to attach the saved scan.  That works, but doing it directly from rReader would be a lot handier.

  • Problems with .pdf as an email attachment

All of a sudden, I am having problems attaching my email newsletter (5 pages .pdf combined in one),  this is in Yahoo email or gmail.  I've been doing it for a few years with no problem.  It just won't load.

Are you using Reader or CreatePDF?

  • I've been attaching pdf's to emails forever.  All of the sudden my pdf files won't attach to any email.  I have tried from home, work, different providers, etc.  Nothing is working.  What could the problem be?

I have been attaching pdf files to emails forever.  All of the sudden my pdf files won't attach to an email.  It just sits there and spins like it's trying to attach but quits half way through.  What could the problem be?

Please try repairing Reader installation on your machine. Do you get any error message while attaching the pdf file?

  • Suddenly I am unable to attach files in yahoo email while using firefox, but when I use IE, there is no problem in attaching files. The problem is existing for last 5 days.

Even files of small size are not getting attached in yahoo mail when I use firefox. However there is no problem when I use IE.

Thank you jscher2000. Yes my PDFs do contain the .pdf extension. I tried your excellent idea to utilize the drag and drop method, but I still get the same error message with PDFs. I have no problem attaching photos or Word documents with either method; just PDFs.
For further diagnostics, I started composing my email in Safari, attached all my pdfs and saved my email as a Draft.  I then went to Firefox, opened the draft to continue working on it, and voila!  There are all the pdfs I attached previously while in Safari.  I was able to send the email with attachments through Firefox with no issues. The attachments went through and were able to be opened.
I am mystified, as Firefox has been trouble-free with my email account, and I have never had this particular issue till today. I made no changes to anything else on my computer, but I did notice very late last night that Outlook had one of those typical messages at the top of my Inbox to refresh my browser since Outlook had been updated. I refreshed and shut down for the night, and when I rebooted this morning that is when I discovered this brand new glitch with attachments. I'm assuming this has something to do their last update.

  • Problem attaching photos to emails

When I attach photos to my emails on gmail I am unable to edit the body of the email. Everything else works OK but I can only send messages with the default messages which appear when I open the message. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this? I am on Photoshop elements 11.

    Hi,
This is a problem with the Adobe e-mail client.
    The workaround is as follows.
Open Notepad and compose your message there
Select the whole message and copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl & C)
Switch to the new email message
Highlight the text to be replaced and do paste (Ctrl & V)
    Good luck

  • Help attaching doc to Yahoo email

I am a new mac user, so i would appreciate help with this simple task. I created a test file in Pages and tried to attach it to a note in my Yahoo email. The test file was grey and could not be selected. Other files that I had brought over from my PC are black and selectable.
Any idea why it wont work?
BTW, I have a similar problem in Numbers, where I can attach files I copied over that were created in Excel, but I cant attach a modified file that I saved in Numbers (grey and unselectable).
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Pages, Numbers & Keynote documents are actually packages, a special kind of folder that appear as a single file, but aren't. You can't e-mail a folder which is why Yahoo! mail isn't working. Apple Mail will automatically zip a folder, other e-mail clients don't, especially web-based e-mail. In the Finder, Control- or right-click on the Pages document & choose Create Archive… from the contextual menu. You will now have a zipped Pages document that you can attach to your e-mail & send.
Your recipient must have Pages to be able to open your Pages file. If s/he doesn't, you can export the Pages document as Word or PDF & send that.

  • Why do my numbers files not email properly?

Disclaimer: I'm fairly computer savvy and have a good amount of experience in using Numbers (mostly Numbers'09).
I've recently encountered a new problem when emailing numbers (.numbers) files.
They are not coming through correctly.
This may be a "new" issue with the recent upgrade from Numbers'09 but I'm not sure since I have not had the need to send a numbers doc from one person/computer to another since the update to the new version of Numbers.
    Here's what happens:
The file sends with no problem. I'm able to receive the file with no problem.
I CANNOT OPEN the numbers document.
When i receive the document it is not coming in the full size. For example: A document that is actually 324K in size is only being received as 8K.
         - I am unable to preview the document.
         - It appears to have no data
In an attempt to self-solve the problem - I saved the file that I'm attempting to send as a "Numbers 09" version. I was able to send and open this successfully.
The computer that I'm on/sending to/opening in, is running the current version and the SAME version of numbers as the other computer (version 3.2).
I'm quite confused and have not been able to find a solution on my own.
If anyone has run into this, has an idea or has a solution it would be HUGELY appreciated!
Thanks in advance for ANY and ALL feedback and support.

    Hi John,
I don't really want to switch my method of filing simply for sharing purposes.
Perhaps a solution for now could be to revert a document to Numbers '09 before emailing?
When Numbers 3.0 was released in November 2013, many people were stunned that a so-called upgrade had lost so many features. But slowly (through this forum working together) it became clear that Apple had provided several safety-nets.
    - Numbers 3 did not replace Numbers '09 on any computer. Numbers '09 was moved to a folder named iWork '09 inside the Applications folder. It still works on OS X Mavericks just as it always did on previous versions of OS X.
Numbers 3 did not replace the icon on the Dock. That icon continues to point to Numbers '09.
Wayne Contello has written a User Tip for working with the old and new versions of iWork:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6991
    - Documents and templates created in Numbers '09 will carry many of the "lost" features into Numbers 3.
    - A document "stolen" by Numbers 3 can not be opened in Numbers '09. Numbers 3 has Menu > File > Export To > Numbers '09... to revert that document. However, reverting a document created in Numbers 3 will not magically install lost Numbers '09 features. They are gone (for now).
    - Numbers '09 and Numbers 3 run happily together at the same time. Just be sure which version you use when opening a document. Use Menu > File > Open or Menu > File > Open Recent.
With each update (Numbers 3.0 to 3.01, 3.1 and now 3.2) many features have been restored. They may now live under a different menu, button, or Inspector (Format Panel).

  • What do I do since, I am unable to attach files to my emails and I get messages saying that the attachment failed?

When I try to attach a file to emails, the attachment fails and I receive an error message saying that it has failed. Sometimes it asks me to check whether there are firewalls or proxy. How do check for these? How do I disable these? Do I have to do so every time I attach a file to a mail? My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium and browser is Firefox. Email is Gmail. The files I try to attach are less than 5 MB.

So sorry to all.  I did some research in this community and found out I was not the only one with that problem.  I removed microsoft Silverlight as suggested and followed instructions on how to do it and that did the trick.  All is well now.

  • How do you print an email attachment and not the email itself. please.

Hi there, if there is text in the body of the email it will print automatically when sent to an ePrint email address. The only way to just have the attachment print is for there to be no text in the email body.
Hope that helps answer your question.

  • Why is there more problems with sending photos in emails than before. I never had problems before.

I am having problems that I never used to have sending photos in a Yahoo email. I can't load as many photos and it takes a very long time to load. I always check my attacment by going to the sent file and when I download a photo it is way bigger than the screen and I have to zoom down to 20% in order to see the photo at it's intended size.

Larry HN~If you want to control the size of the photos select them in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder using the various size options available during export - then attach to your e-mail from the folder
I followed the above instructions and it worked very well. I found I could click on the photo in iphoto and drag it to the desktop as well and then attach to my email from the desktop. If I choose the export method I can choose a different size as there are 4 sizes to choose from and that seems to work well for Yahoo Mail altho I noticed that the larger size photo I chose the longer it took to download as an attachment in a Yahoo email.

  • How do i share a numbers file via email?

I just upgraded os x to version 10.9.4 and now cant share a numbers file via email.  also when I try to save a file "save as" is no longer an option?  Whats up?  after I upgraded the system software I was prompted to upgrade the apps which I did.

Hold down the OPTION key and the Save As selection will appear in the File menu.
To send any file as an attachment in Mail simply drag the file into the message composition window. I find it's often best to zip the file first - select the file then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Compress "filename" from the context menu. Then drag the archived file into the message composition window.

  • Problem attaching microsoft office files to yahoo, hotmail

I have had a lot of trouble attaching office files to my yahoo and hotmail email. I have tried doing it from safari and firefox, as well as moving my preferences folder, reseting safari, changins my cache preferences, and the people at apple were not very helpful on the phone. I do not think it is an issue with safari, as firefox has the same problem, and what are the chances of Yahoo and MSN doing changes to their site at the same time? Does anybody has a similar problem?

Reader has nothing to do with this, since Reader does not create any
files. You have some software that scans your pages to pdf. Before you
try to upload the file as an email attachment you should make sure your
scanning software closed the file. Then you should be able to attach it
to an email. If you cannot then the problem lies with your system, not
    Reader, not gmail, nor yahoo.
