PS6; print; PS print settings; color management; printer profile: how to get paper profile to "stick" for multiple prints of same paper type, ie Matte. Mine reverts to Luster as the default.

see question

Hola Gustavo,
your task is for me not quite clear. I can see two scenarios:
a) Calibrate the press for  ISONewspaper26v4 ink (your standard process) on salmon colored paper.
Print the target by press on this paper, measure and build the profile. There is no problem so far.
But preparing CMYK data with this profile for printing by press requires a very complicated gamut
compression, becauses the gamut of the actual process on salmon paper is small and excentric
in Lab. As mentioned in my previous post.
b) Simulate the appearance of press prints on salmon paper, disregarding the salmon color by profiles.
This shall be done in your case by a toner printer.
The toner printer has to be calibrated with white paper. As a result one gets a valid Printer Profile.
The proof printing happens for a CMYK file, for instance a PDF/X-1a file so:
    Input profile: ISONewspaper26v4
    Output profile: Printer Profile
    Printed on salmon paper!
The printer profiling converts the toner printer into a more or less reliable proof printer. This has nothing
    to do with colored paper.

Turns out those error messages it gave me were because it didn't sync properly and create a backup. Which is why when I restored from backup it didn't reload my old info. Instead of assuring me that I would have the option to restore my info, it would have been nice had it told me that a backup hadn't been completed and that restoring my phone without it would leave me with nothing.
Tech support had me use my old SIM card to import my old contacts. This worked, but I've entered contacts since getting the new phone that aren't on my old SIM. And doing so left me with a bunch of re-organizing to do (deleting, combining, entering First and Last name fields...) it took me several hours.
I didn't get my appointments back, cause my old phone was just a phone, and that info wasn't on the old SIM, but I'm REALLY glad I got my contacts.

  • Print - color management dialog box - how to print

    I am a bit confused
with the print CS5 color management settings...
When printing on my HP Design Jet 90 I select I click "print settings in the CS5 print dialog and select "Application Managed Color"  in the prinder driver.
However the PS print dialog has additional settings on right side under the Color Management.
I select Photoshop manages colors in the Color Handling drop down to make it consistent with the printer driver selection.
However, I amn not sure what to have under the printer prifile drop down. I tried different options and they change how the picture is printed and this dialog was not as complex in CS4 so I am nont sure what selections to make in order to have the PS manage color. and select everything automatically.
    Thanks for your help.

In my own case, with an (old) HP 932c Deskjet, the printer wants to see the sRGB profile, so that's what I have to put when I choose Photoshop Manages Colors.

  • How to get  paper color profiles when printing from Acrobat

    Hello,
I've been in trouble trying to print with specific paper profiles from Acrobat.
I'm running on mac os 10.8.5, and the latest version of the suite (Acrobat XI).
My printer is an Epson 3880.
I can print ok using my paper profiles when I'm printing from Photoshop; the paper profils show up in the printer box,
and I can choose from my different paper profiles, some of which I've installed recently, non-Epson papers.
But those paper profiles don't show up in the menu when I print from Acrobat…
Any hints why I can't reach those?
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Keth.

Are you talking about the color profiles?  If so then:
    1.  Go to File>Print
    2.  Click the Advanced button
    3.  Select Color Management from the window pane
    4.  Select the Color Profile from the Color Profile pop-up menu

Dear sweet Apples, that know all the answers...
I can't get a proper connection to my Epson R1800 printer.  I get the basics , but I need to be able to choose paper sizes and paper Types.
It keeps saying that the downloads went fine,  but then it says that the System/Library/Extensions cannot be used because SMC1255TX.kext

    Did you restart the printer?

  • Color Management Custom Profiles - None available (Vista)

I get bad color in my prints from LR. My printer supports Adobe RGB, and hence I believe it would fix the problem is I could get LR to convert the image to Adobe RGB before printing. Under Color Management, I click on "Managed by Printer" to get a popup menu that has both "Managed by Printer" (checked) and "Other" as options. I select "Other" and a window appears with the title "Choose Profiles" and the text "Choose profiles to appear in Custom Profile popup:" The problem is that the window is empty. There are no choices! I have checked and I have the ICC files installed in Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color and they are associated with my printer by windows. I copied and add icm versions of the icc files. Still no profiles appear.
Does this work for others? Can anyone get any options to show up?
Thanks for any help or advice.
    Davy

AdobeRGB and sRGB are NOT printer profiles, they are color spaces and you should not be able to select them in Lightroom. You need actual printer profiles if you want to print application managed from lightroom. Almost every reasonably modern printer includes them. It looks like this printer does not include them in a way so that you can use them. On most printers, you can still print printer managed, but it appears that this printer is not correctly color managed. I checked out the manual for it and it clearly is not color managed at all. Typical for HP's consumer line unfortunately. Apart from having a profile generated by any of the places that do that for you (which is about as expensive as an ink cartridge), I don't think you can print to this thing from Lightroom at all. In this case, really the printer manufacturer is to blame. They should have been doing ICC/ICM color management ages ago instead of relying on all applications to be dumb. It still stinks though.

  • [1.5.0] Proxy settings - where? + Console popup how to get rid of it?

Having installed JRE 1.5.0 at home after 1.4.2 was running on it, the console "pop up" window doesn't show (probably since I configured it to hide the console).
After at work the JRE 1.5.0 packages on Windows XP Pro were distributed, the icon in the taskbar remained properly hidden BUT the console window keeps coming back when the JRE is called on... Where does one find the configuration file for things like this, in the registry, Documents and Settings, some hidden ini/config file? On my PC the changed proxy setting remains, but some settings need to be used in packages.
I've run the "Find Files" to see if files have changed today on the PC after I've changed the console setting and/or the proxy setting - but nothing there. Checking the registry for /Javasoft and /Java-hives brought no solution either. No FAQ, thread in this forum brought a solution.

    Try going to Start->Configruation->System properties
(I'm not quite sure how it's called in English, since I'm working with a german XP...)
Anyway, the thing where you have AudioSetup,DisplaySettings etc..
There's one entry for Java as well. There should be one tab where you can configure the popup behaviour.
    Hope that helped!?

  • How to get black text in Aperture for offset printing?

I have a lot of text in my Aperture Books.
60 pages is like 300USD plus from Apple store!
Offset printing for 1000 copies is 3 USD each (and I am happy with that lower quality).
This is what my printer says:
The files for offset print generally should be prepared slightly different
    then for digital printing.
    I'm talking about the text.
Each black text (on the cover, inside pages, numbers of pages) should be
prepared in one black colour. Now is separated on 4 colours. Of course we can print it as it is but I'm sure that the final effect will
be not good. The black letters will be "fuzzy".
Is it possible to change some settings? (I get the same in Pages when I create PDF:s)

    Hi, Stefan
I would suggest talking directly with the person you're going to deliver to and ask them exactly how they want it delivered, for example, fonts, pdf type... they usually have a spec sheet you deliver to and then pick the PDF from the print options in Aperture.

  • Workflow Manager & User Profile Service Application for Extranet Web application

    Hi,
Recently i have setup HA WF Manager farm and associated it with Intranet web application (on-prem). Now i want to use the same farm for our extranet environment (on-prem) but extranet environment is not associated with UPA. Since user profile application
is not available for extranet environment so workflow does not work.
Now if I try to use existing UPA or create a new UPA for extranet environment, then i am exposing users data to all partner and collaborators. But for workflows to work it is necessary that users profile should be there in profile database.
Is there any way that I can run workflows in extranet environment without exposing user profile data to partners/collaborators? Thanks.
    -Prashant

Thanks for the reply Paul, but this does not solve the problem.
Actually in MySite web application external users group is not at all added with any permissions but just to check your suggestion i have given permission to externals group with Deny Read permission. Now UPA is associated to the extranet web application
and when i access user profile data using RESP API using a partner account I can still see the data. For e.g. I am using this URL
    https://extranet.abc.com/_api/SP.UserProfiles.PeopleManager/GetPropertiesFor(accountName=@v)?@v='abc\uname'
When I hit this URL in browser using partner account, it shows the profile data of the account passed in the URL.
MySite web application is https://mysite.abc.com and on this web application external users group is added under policy with Deny Read permissions. Thanks.

  • Does the Broadcast Colors filter work?  How to get a broadcast safe production?

    Hey guys ~
Have searched around a bit but haven't found much info on this subject.  One of my films just signed a distribution deal (go team) and I've been in the process of submitting my deliverables.  The company I've been assigned to for QC uses FCP7 for their preliminary check, and if that passes they send it on to a more rigorous test to ensure legal broadcast levels.
I'd like to keep everything in PP, but here's the deal.  I export my film with PP CC to a ProRes HQ file using the "Broadcast Colors" filter set to an IRE of 99 (just to be a touch on the safe side).  I was happy because I thought the final product looked even better and retained even more information than the Broadcast Safe filter in FCP. Only the catch is, when I import the final product from PP into FCP7 to see the results that they are going to see, there is a consistent "red" warning on contrasty shots... some are totally outside of the FCP7 broadcast safe scopes.
I've succumbed to jumping back to FCP7 to do the final on this just to make sure it will pass inspection, but I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with this? What's the correct way that I'm missing to use PP CC to make sure that you have a finished product that is safe to put on the airwaves?  Is the PP CC Broadcast Safe filter reliable for professional delivery specifications?
Thanks in advance for any help...

Is the PP CC Broadcast Safe filter reliable for professional delivery specifications?
I dont think it is flexible enough and never use it.
Simplest way is to apply Premiere 'Levels' effect.
You will note an "automatic" level clip at 100% and then its easy to set White RGB Out at say 250 and fix any Color Channel Luminance issue..the same way.
    Then of course..Blacks.
FWIW - I use an Adjustment Layer to do this usually across the entire sequence

  • Color Management Software

    Hi
I have used Aperture for 6 months and find it great! I wanted to get better prints and was looking at Xrite Photo Munky and Datacolor Spyder3 Studio SR to calibrate both my iMac 24" and the printer (Epson R1900). Anybody have any experience in these products or alternate ways to do this? I have tried making my own ICC profiles in the Colorsync app with Snowleopard but think I need something more geared towards doing this..

    Mike
I recently bought the color munki. It is a fantastic well made and versatile device.
The software will control your monitor's brightness if it is capable (monitor dependant).
One problem I was dogged with for which I have not seen any documentation is regarding the version of ICC profile you create for your monitor. I had a problem with mine (blocked shadows), but changed the preferences in the software to create a version 2 profile and it is perfect now. I suspect this has something to do with my ageing system and graphics card.
Profiling for print is incredibly easy and it is possible to refine your profiles to target different types of images. Don't let the simplicity of the software fool you, if you delve deeper there is a lot of things you can do with it.

  • Color management, printing with InDesign CS3

RGB output devices (this includes essentially all inkjet printers from every manufacturer, when driven by the manufacturer print driver). Inkjet printers driven by a PostScript RIP are considered CMYK output devices, and thus this post does not apply to them.
When printing to RGB output devices from InDesign using the same ICC profiles and settings as in Photoshop, you still get crummy results, in terms of color, that differ from both IDCS2 and other Adobe applications including Photoshop CS3.
InDesign CS2 previously did all rasterizing and color space conversion in InDesign prior to submitting the print job to the OS. In CS3 this was changed to submit PostScript + colorspace information, which is then supposed to be normalized by the OS. Except that it doesn't work. Mac OS X drops the color space information.
The work around is to check "Print as Bitmap" in the advanced section of the IDCS3 print dialog. This causes IDCS3 to do the conversion and generate a bitmap prior to submitting to the OS, rather than depending on the OS to do color conversion or rasterizing, which is the default behavior with IDCS2. Thus you can use the same ICC profiles and print driver settings as with all other Adobe applications, if you choose this option.
    Chris Murphy
co-author Real World Color Management 2e

    Chris,
First, I am surprised that there has been no response to your post since there were more than a few complaints about the problem in this forum when IDCS3 first came out. So thank you for the solution to this vexing problem.
But I find some of the language in your post a bit problematic:
    >InDesign CS2 previously did all rasterizing and color space conversion in InDesign prior to submitting the print job to the OS.
    and
    >... rather than depending on the OS to do color conversion or rasterizing, which is the default behavior with IDCS2.
The second quote seems incorrect on two counts:
    1. It contradicts the first quoted statement.
    2. In my mac IDCS2 (version 4.0.5 build 688) in the options area of the color management pane of the print dialog, the only available choice for the Color Handling pop up is "Let InDesign Determine Colors".
So the default behavior with IDCS2 seems to be "Let InDesign Determine Colors".
I am not at all taking issue with the main point of your post, which I welcome wholeheartedly. I just find the second quoted phrase from you post confusing. Can you please clarify.
Returning to your main point, are there any downsides of using the Print as Bitmap method?
    Thanks,
    Al
