PXIe-4330 Remote Sense

I'm trying to get the remote sense on the PXIe-4330 to work. I've have a bridge based sensor connected as the manual shows it. I cannot find a property node that enable the remote sense. Does the remote sense automatically work when hooked up or does it need to be configured?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

There is no DAQmx property node for the remote sense feature of the 4330.  If you wire it up for remote sense, it will work without specifying in software.

  • How to manage large Remote Sensing image in oracle

I want to manage many Remote Sensing images in Oracle database. Which model is more reasonable? Please all my friends give me your suggestions.

This MyApp application (Application 100) was created by the HR Oracle account.
    I could use
    http://127.0.0.1:8080/htmldb/f?p=100
to run this application by logging in as hr/hr .
For the above URL, if I logged in as anotherOracleAccount/password, I got the 'Invalid Login Credentials' message.
As you said, I could use
    http://127.0.0.1:8080/htmldb/f?p=4550
to get into HTML DB of the Oracle XE environment by logging in as anotherOracleAccount/password.
Since MyApp is using the HR-owned 'employees' table, should we grant some privileges on hr.employees to anotherOracleAccount?
I tried this, I still got the 'Invalid Login Credentials' message.

  • Set PXIe 4330 Exitation Voltage to Zero?

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is anyway I could set the  PXIe 4330 Exitation Voltage to Zero in Labview as a safety precaution when wiring the card?
I have tried to do so with the DAQmx Reset Device.vi but it has no effect.
As well, I tried DAQmx Create Channel (AI bridge).vi with the Voltage exitation value set to zero but that returns an error.
    Any ideas?

  • Error -201342 "Unsupported Accessory" when using MAX to create tasks PXIe-4330 & TB-4330.

    Hi all!
I have an -18 slot PXI chassis with multiple PXIe-4330 and TB-4330 installed.   When attaching any TB-4330 to the -4330 module within slot 11 and generating a task within MAX, the system returns the following error: "-201342, unsupported accessory". Any task can read all other slots without generating an error.
I don't expect this to be SN based as the TB is interchangable with -4330s in other slots though MAX will not allow me to add a TB-4330 to the configuration.
How can i help MAX see the TB-4330 within slot 11?  Is there a driver update that corrects this?
    Thank you!

  • PXIe 4330 Calibration Issue

I have been  trying  to calibrate the  PXIe 4330 and have been getting some consistant errors when attempting to the the Gain Accuracy Test from the NI SC Express 4330/4331 Calibration Procedure
For three brand new 4330 cards, I have been getting a consistant error in table 5 of the  manual for Calibrator Outputs: 295.8, 341.3, and 358.8, as well as a consistant error in table 4 for Calibrator Outputs:  341.3, and 358.8.
I am fairly confident that I am following the procedures properly. I have been using the recommended Fluke 5220A calibrator and the cards passed all other verification tests except the Gain Accuracy Test.
Anyone have any ideas? Has the manuals tables been updated?
    Thanks  in advance

    G'ory88,
I don't think you can set it to zero, but you should be able to set the excitation voltage as low as 0.625 V in software.   If you are extremely concerned, you can turn off the chassis, do the wiring, and then turn it back on (if you are using a PC through MXI make sure you power off your PC first).
    Hope this helps.

  • Accessing a SWTICH and DMM cards in a PXI System remotely

    Hi everybody,
I use a PXI system with a NISwitch PXI-2503 and NiDMM PXI-4070. The embedded controller PXI-8176 is running WinXP.
From a client machine I want to access remotely this cards. Via VISA Server it is possible to interact with the Switches using NI's driver NiSwitch. On the ther hand, I did not succeed so far to access remotely the DMM using the driver software NiDMM. I receive always the following error:
"Error -1074135030 occurred at niDMM Initialize.vi
    Possible reason(s):
Error: (Hex 0xBFFA000A) Failure loading driver module."
    My Software Versions are:
    Labview 7.1, VISA 3.1, NI-DAQ 2.10, NiSwitch 2.20, NI-DMM 2.2.1
I have read that there are some incompatibilities between VISA and RDA conc
erning the TCP-IP port, but this problem should be solved in the versions I currently use.
Anybody out there who knows a workaround?
Thanx for any help in advance
Hannes Schmidt, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne

    Hannes,
Unfortunately I don't think anybody here knows of a workaround because the application is not one that anybody has recently tested using NI-DMM. The easiest work around to me would be to use LabVIEWs remote front panels to do the acquisition. The only reason why using this might cause a problem is if you need to save data to file on a remote PC. So the only consideration to work with is to save the file on the host PC and then grab the file saved using FTP or something along those lines. That may be a much easier work around than trying to figure out what is going on with the low level DMM driver call. Hope this helps. Good luck with your application.

  • PXIe 1071 remote power up

The PXIe 1071 chassis is located inside a panel which is normally kept closed. Every day morning at start of shift, the operator has to open the panel door and switch ON the White button in front of the controller. This is something they are not happy doing as the panel does have high voltage switchgear at the bottom level.
Earlier with PCI boards and normal Induatrial computer we could wire the Power ON / OFF button to a switch outside the panel. Whihc was in parallel with the built in power switch of the PC.
I would like to get the same functioanlity with the PXI also, as noted below :
    - When the panel is powered up, the PXI also powers up and loads the WIN7 OS.
    - The operator launches the application and completes testing.
    - When done he quits the application, shuts down the PC.
    - Powers down the panel and goes home.
I have already treid to read the manual which talks of a SW1 switch but the description is quite ambigous as to what it does :
When switch 1 of SW1 is on, the backplane controls the power supply on/off state. This allows you to circumvent the controller and turn the chassis on/off manually. When switch 1 of SW1 is on, the power supply turns on when you press the front panel power switch....
I really am not clear as to what hey are trying to say. And since the system is now with client, I need to be sure before I propose to change default settings. Trial and error will look not so good.

    Hi Ming,
I apologize for my confusion regarding the functionality of the DB9 inhibit switch versus the white power button.  I must have misinterpreted the descriptions in the User Manual.  It seems that the white power button can hibernate the system whereas the DB9 inhibit switch just cuts off the power.  In order to properly shut it down without using the white power button you will need to first hibernate or shutdown the computer through the Windows interface, then you can use the DB9 inhibit switch to remotely cutoff the power to the chassis and later turn it back on.  I am not aware of another simple 'one press button' type way to remotely hibernate the PXI controller.
Since your chassis is located in a cabinet you could run keyboard and monitor cables to the device to interface with it.  Alternately, you could connect the chassis to the internet and use Remote Desktop to shut it down.

  • Pxie-1062q remote power up and power down

    Hi All
I'm using a PXIe-1062q chassis with PXIe-8108 controller. I plan to mount the chassis inside a cabinet, therefore it will be difficult to gain access to the small white power on/off button on the front of the PXI chassis. Is there a way I can gain access to the power on/off by way of the DB9 connector on the back of PXI chassis?
I've already tried the inhibit switch on the DB9 connector and it simply cuts the power to the PXI and does not shut it down properly.
    Thanks in advance

  • Connect PXI 1031 remotely

    Dear Sir/Madam:
We got a NI PXI 1031 hardware and I want to connect it with my host computer. I ran the PXI station in real-time mode and I tried to use MAX in the host computer to connect it. However, when I want to log in this station, a dialog box pop up and asked me to enter the administrator password for the PXI 1031 station. However, I don't think I set that password before. Thus, could you please tell me how to log into that station?
    Thanks a lot,

I don't think it is properly connected to your PC. How you connected the PXI to your PC? through a netwrok or directly connected with the PC using ethernet cable? Are you getting reply when you try to ping the PXI system?

  • Remote sense measurements with SMU4141

    Hi all,
We are trying to perform some 4-probe measurements using the SMU4141 and would like to understand some limitations we have noticed. When the lead resistance is low, measurements are correct, but they start deviating when the lead resistance becomes large compared to the DUT resistance.
For instance, if we connect a 25kohm resistor between HIs and LOs and 1kohm resistors between HIs - HI and LOs - LO, then the measurement is correct. However, if we would use 25kohm resistors also between HIs-HI and LOs-LO, then the measurement would be wrong, even if we set the SMU to local sense. What would be the actual limit for the lead resistances?
We have read that there is a maximum voltage drop of 1V that the SMU can apply across the higher current output leads. However, that would not explain the deviation we measure since we see it even applying small voltages at the SMU channel output.
Also, we read in the forum that there is an internal pull resistor from each sense lead to the respective HI/LO pin. This might explain the limitation; if this is the case, what is the actual value of these pull resistors? Also we noticed that even if the sense terminals are open, the two terminal measurement is correct, is that also explained by the internal pull resistors?
Thanks in advance for your answer,
    Juan

It's difficult to say what the cause of the issue could be, there are many variables in your setup. We seem to have confirmed that your hardware is functioning normally and that the program you are running seems to work on your host computer. It could be related to how this is being transferred to your other computers.

-What do you mean by what program I am running?  I have attempted to make an EXE that just did those measurements and it fails to work also.
If you said that making an EXE also fails, what was your original method of implementing this program? Do you see the same behavior in each of your methods?
Could you post a screenshot of the "floating" behavior that you are seeing, as well as a screenshot of the program running on the host computer for comparison? Also, would you be able to post a portion of your code that could demonstrate this behavior? Thanks!

  • PXI chassis hot-plugging with remote controller

    Hello,
I am using the PXIe-PCIe8371 remote controller with PXIe-8370 to control instruments in the PXIe-1075 chassis in Vista. In order to see my instruments in MAX the chassis must be turned on when I reboot Windows. If I turn off the chassis while Windows is running, I have to reboot to be able to use the instruments again.
Is it possible to make MAX see the chassis if it wasn't running when Windows booted up or was turned off while Windows was running?
    Thanks!
    Solved!

    Hi,
You can disable and enable the PCI to PCI bridge in Device Manager, but this is not recommended nor supported. I'd also suggest that you don't turn off the chassis while Windows is running, which is essentially the same as removing a PCI card from your PC while the PC is on. This can lead to issues with your system such as MAX Database Corruption, which isn't very fun to resolve. The recommended way to boot your system is always chassis first, then PC, and to shut down it's PC first, then chassis.

  • Wiring the PXI-4132

    Hi all,
I'd like to know how to wire the PXI-4132. You can check its specification following links below.
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/fr/nid/207349
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375128a.pdf
    - My problem here is i don't understand what a guard terminal is. (check p5 on pdf)
The output HI and LO correspond to the higher and lower (current or voltage) source you need to source.
The sense HI and LO correspond to the higher and lower (current or voltage) measurement you need to measure.
    - How to source voltage and measure current ?
Seems to happen in the same time. That means output HI and HI sense are connected to the same point and Lo Sense and output LO as well.
    - Does someone get a wiring schematic of PXI-4132 ?
Thank you for further reading and discussion

  • How can I boot my PXI controller into real-time without a floppy disk?

My PXI controller is in a lab which has intense magnetic fields that could corrupt the floppy disk used to boot the PXI controller into the LabVIEW Real-Time (RT) Operating System. How can I boot the PXI controller into real-time directly from the hard drive?

If you are using LabVIEW 5.1.2 Real-Time (RT), launch Remote System Explorer and select Disks >> Create Format Hard Drive Disk. If you have LabVIEW 6 RT, launch the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and select Tools >> RT PXI Disk Utilities >> Create Format Hard Drive Disk (LabVIEW RT 6 has not be released yet). Once you have created the disk, boot the PXI controller with the Format Hard Drive Disk, and this will format the PXI's hard drive and install the real-time OS boot loader. Now you can reboot the PXI without a floppy disk and configure the PXI using Remote System Explorer or MAX. Be aware that this will remove all information from the hard drive, including other operating systems.

  • AC Recovery PXIe-1073

Is there any way to set how the PXIe-1073 behave when AC power is restored after AC power loss?
I want the PXIe-1073 to power on after AX power loss.

    Hi,
The NI PXIe-1073 is lacking support of remote power control. For high priority applications or long time test systems I recommend upgrading to one of the supported chassis.
