Quality Notification: Create Task as Follow-Up Action

Hi QMu2019ers
I have a requirement from my business, to create tasks as a follow up actions from completed tasks. Let me explain the process.
We have a catalog with 4 codes e.g. ZTS1 u2013 0001 to ZTS1 u2013 0004
When the user assigns ZTS1 u2013 0001 to a task in the notification and that task is set to complete, we want the system to automatically create the next task in the catalog, i.e. ZTS1 u2013 0002, when that task is complete the next task from the catalog is added and so on.
I have looked into follow-up actions for tasks, but there does not seem to be a standard option for this.
Does anyone know how I can implement such a solution?

follow-up actions of tasks is triger when the tasks are assigned into the notification, not when the task are completed.
Try user-exit QQMA0014, you can assign additional tasks before notification is saved.

Hi PLM specialists,
I do have a question concerning quality notification, type F2 - vendor error. I do get the following tabs: reference objects, subject, processing: that's clear.
But there are also these tabs: items, tasks, activities. The tab items has the following subtabs: overview, causes, tasks and activities.
Does anyone has an idea concerning their use and what is the difference between the subtabs tasks, activities and the tabs tasks and activities?

The use of Item level Tasks and Header level task have been mentioned in SAP help.
Basicaly Header level tasks are referred as "Immediate Tasks", These tasks provide a quick fix for a problem requiring immediate attentione and header level activities are referred as activities done immediately attend the same.
Item level tasks are " Corrective Tasks". These tasks usually provide final solutions that wil prevent the problem for reccuring.
For eg if you get a vendor rejection in your shop the immediate action will to intimate to the concerned person quickly and remove it to block location. So your immedite task can be of like 1) Communicate the production personnel 2) block the material 3) block the vendor 4) inform vendor and activities can be of like 1) email send to vendor 2) material moved to block 3)deliveries return back to vendor etc
But as you know notification refers to a particular defect. So we need to take necessary corrective and preventive actions. SAP notification helps in doing this also. The item level entries are basicaly meant for this. In Item overview we can enter the defects that was noted on the material, you can maintain relevant causes for the same. Corrective tasks can be of like 1) Audit at vendors place 2) activation of source inspection 3) tighten the inspection standards and relevant activities done to achieve the tasks can also be maintained. This also helps in creating the 8D reports
So a detailed analysis of the problem is dealt in the item level Cause, tasks & activities while immediate action get covered in the header datas.

URGENT! - Quality Notification - Causes, Tasks, Activities

Hi,
This is in regards to Quality Notifications (QM01/02/03.)
Right now, I have all of the causes, tasks and activities, each in a separate table, for a specific item of a notification.
How do I get the causes, tasks, and activities into one table, in the correct order?
By correct order i mean, say if you go into the details of an item, say it only has one 1 cause, 3 tasks, and 2 activities. Thus, there would be 3 lines for that particular item. In turn, the table that combines causes, tasks, and activities would have 3 lines for the item for a specific notification.
Please help. This is very urgent and important.

Notifications created as follow up action from a notification????

Hi all,
            I am creating a Quality Notification as a folloup action of a MAintenance Notification.
            The Quality Notification is craeted in the background.
            Now I want which are the Quality Notifications created from a Maintenance Notification.
           In short I want the relation between Reference Notification and Notification created as Followup Action.
          How I can see the notifications creted with reference to current notification in IW220r IW23.
          Also how I can see which is the reference notification for current notification in IW22,IW23.

In IW22 or IW23 click document flow button or press CTRL+F4 you can get both PM & QM Notification no.
In QM notification you can see the PM notification no. as reference.

Creating a quality notification:
1.Choose Logistics-> Quality management -> Quality notification-> Create.
2.Enter the notification type and then choose Enter.
Notification types:
Q1 - Customer complaint
Q2 - Complaint against vendor
Q3 - Internal problem
Another dialog box may be displayed before the notification is created, depending on how the quality notifications were customized. If a dialog box is displayed, you may have to enter additional reference information (for example, a material, sales order or delivery).
Creating a user-specific quality notification
1.Choose Logistics -> Quality management -> Quality notification -> Create.
2.Enter the notification type and then choose Enter.
To be able to create a user-specific notification, you must specify a user-specific notification type that has been predefined in Customizing.
Creating a quality notification with reference
1.Choose Logistics -> Quality management -> Quality notification-> Create.
2.Enter the notification type.
3.Enter the number of the notification you want use as a copy model and choose Enter
To reduce the amount of data that you need to enter, you can use an existing quality notification as a copy model. You can use any notification type as a copy model, regardless of the notification type for the new notification.
When you save the new quality notification, the notification you used as a copy model is saved at the same time in the notification. This means that you can later select the quality notifications that were created using certain references.
Changing a quality notification
1.Choose Logistics-> Quality management -> Quality notification -> Change.
2.Enter the number of the notification you want to change and choose Enter.
Make the necessary changes to the notification and then save the data

Quality Notification and Inspection Lots

Hello everyone:
Does anyone have an SAP environment in which the quality notifications are generated automatically followed by inspection lot creation? In these instances please explain how you manage to assign the quality notifications to the related inspection lots.
I am working on a project to create quality notifications at the time of receipt into quality inspection stock then inspection lot creation/results recording and subsequent automatic closure of quality notifications.

Genrally it's not the way it operates, but I can understand the way business forces their requirements on SAP team. The way you have given the requirements, it can done but everything has to be done through development. I never come across this type of requirement but you can check the following stuff.
1. As per SAP, once the material is received (any case Ware houes managed/ or simple IM) based on the master data set up system creates inspection lot and put the quality into stock. So, If you want to create q -note prior to inspection lot creation either it should be manual or independant of goods receipt. I suggest, find a user exit which fires at the time of GR (just before insp.lot gets created) and create the q-note based on the information from the p.o. There standard sap BAPI's available, so no complex developmen is required. Just need to find the correct user exit and timing of creating q-notes. What minmum required fields for your q-note? Do you want any defects info to be passed on to q-note from the data you maintain in MIC? You need see all these things before you go with creating prior q-note.
2. The biggest challenge will be mtaching the q-notes created in advance to the defects/out of spec. recorded during result.recording. Again if you have a smart developer, I think it is possible. Find out the user exit/ or any BADI which can be used when the results are out of spec., turn on standard settings of SAP to create a defect record but while q-note is generated(standard sap functionality) for defect - force your logic to find out the corresponding q-note which was already created and update it with defect info. You can explore passing p.o/item number as refe. no to q-note when it was created and same can be used in add. to your Material/plant/serial no if required.
I am sure, it's a challenging one and not the normal way we do in sap, but you have to go for it if business insists. In general its not the way I have seen, may be other experts might have come across.

If Quality notification as follow up action fails

Dear all
I have a situation where Quality notification is configured as a Follow up action once the UD is made.
So I am getting Create notification screen once UD is filled and SAVE button is clicked.
In Case some wrong data is entered in the Create notification screen and I am coming out of Notification without saving the notification.
The status of the inspection lot is getting flipped to UDed as expected.
But is there any setting where i can define if the Followup action is not successful( Notification not created), then wont make the UD of Inspection lot also. (OR some user status will get updated saying Notif not created etc..)

Thanks to Anand for his correct feedback.
Please note that as per standard SAP, unless and otherwise there is a defect created, there can't be a 1:1 link with inspection lot with the notification, though in the notification header table there is a placeholder available (QMEL-PRUEFLOS) to capture this inspection lot field. You are trying to use a follow-up action wherein, after UD you are always creating a notification based on business case. I believe, the FM you are using in follow-up action, is not presently populating QMEL-PRUEFLOS. So there can't be a link to find out when there is failures in notification creation, but UD happening successfully.
You can try out the below approach -
Approach - 1
During the UD save process, there should be additional checks happening. Ask the follow-up FM to update QMEL-PRUEFLOS or TEXT field with inspection lot for all successful notification creation and UD update, and send a confirmation email to approver or task processing partners, or the UD processing user ID (This email part can be skipped in case if this is not required). In case of any failures in notification creation at save, it should truncate the UD save process too and send a message to UD processing user for this failure.
Approach - 2
You can create a batch job running at the background to validate for which inspection lot there is no notification created, even though UD is done. Send a mail to the UD processing user to create a notification, as that is not created. User can then create it manually it by updating TEXT field in notification in foreground.

Function Module to create Tasks in a Quality Notification

Hi,
I am trying to create Tasks in an existing Quality Notification through a program.
I have used 'BAPI_QUALNOT_MODIFY_DATA', 'BAPI_QUALNOT_SAVE' and 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT', but it create any tasks in the given quality notification.
I am passing values to the following parameters in ''BAPI_QUALNOT_MODIFY_DATA" FM:
- NUMBER (Quality Notification Number)
- NOTIFTASK (Notification Task for Creation)
- NOTIFTASK_X (Change Indicator for Notification Task)
I am getting this error message in BAPI's RETURN internal table - "No changes made" (Message ID: IM and Message No: 407).
Can anybody suggest me where am I going wrong? Is there any alternate way to create Tasks for a QN doc?

ACT_ENDDA = <End Date>
ACT_TDEPTH = 0
ACT_TFLAG = 'X'
ACT_VFLAG = 'X'
AUTHORITY_CHECK = 'X'
You will get all the positions and persons under that org unit in the RESULT_TAB table. You can read this table to read the positions alone.

I have linked the inspection type to a PM notification type and i want the Notification to be created on the Equipment.
I can already create if manually, from the inspection lot, but i want to do this automatically. In the selected set for the Usage decission, you can define follow up actions, but when checking the follow up actions I'm not sure which function module to use.
So which function module should i use? or are you saying that there is no standard function module and that i should write the function module from scratch?
There is no way to create a PM notification from the inspection lot with standard SAP?

Hi,
You can use function module QM06_FM_TASK_SEND_PAPER or QM06_FM_TASK_SEND_PAPER_ATTACH.The document is sent only after the associated notification is saved.You need to enter the function module "QM06_SEND_REPLY_STEP2" in Customizing of the action box as "FM when saving".

Action Box customizing for Quality notifications

Hi all,
In the customizing Quality Notifications ->Qualyty Notifications->Notification processing->Aditional Notification Funtions->Define Action Box. Inside of de Action definitions, a field for Workflows or Standard Task is avalilable. (in specific details for task).
Any one know how it works? No Binding defined?
I mean, in the customizing of Quality notification Actions, Workflow (or TS) could be included in the specific detail. I do not understand how that could work since no binding is defined.

Finally after a lot of tests, looks like the Workflow is trigered when save and recieve a Task object for inport parameter (I mean, my Workflow has as input object QMSM and it is been populated - Create Workitem in error if I add Notification as input too).
I hope this would be usefull if someone more has the same doubt in the future and look for some help in this foro.

Action Box in quality notification

Hi QM Gurus,
Is there anyway that I could remove the whole action box in the quality notification? It wont be needed in my currennt implementation. I would appreciate any suggestion from anyone.. Thank you.

I think what you are doing is.....trying to enter the Q4 directly in Action Box screen..........but what is required here is first to create a Notification Type Q4 in Notification Creation Screen of Customizing in QM. Then this notification type will automatically appear in the Action Box notification display. There only you have to select this Notification Type & assign it the Activities & Dependent follow up actions.

Follow up task without using the action profile

as per the requirements, i have to the custom coding that will automatically create follow-on task triggered by status change on the all the transaction type. Please guide me how can we do that.
Task details (task id, description), I'm reading it from the custom table.

Not sure if I can use the CRMV_EVENT. Even I'm not aware how to use that. Let me tell what i am doing in the logic.
- implementing the logic in the badi order_save (method - CHECK_BEFORE_SAVE)
- get the header and item details using the FM CRM_ORDER_READ.
- get the status of header / item from the output of CRM_ORDER_READ.
- compare the status with the custom table (having info of hearder type, item type, status, tast id, task description etc)
- if status is different, create the task using the details from the custom table.
now i want to write the logic to implement the last step. Do we have any standard FM where I can pass the task ID and it will create the task? Please help.

How to create a Return Order from a Quality Notification?

Hi everyone at SDN.
Really need some help on this issue we are having. We want to create a Return Order from a Quality Notification, ie. the document flow should be:
:: Serv. notif 000200000482
   :: Return Order 0060299453
In the SAPGUI we are able to do this by going into transaction QN02, enter the notification number and in the menu: "Notification" --> "Functions" --> "Sales Order" --> "Create Selection of Order Type". Now we select the Return Order type and the result is as wanted.
However, we want to do all this in ABAP instead. The BAPI I have tried with is BAPI_CUSTOMERRETURN_CREATE.
And the following code is used:
    ls_order_h_in-refobjtype = 'BUS2078'. "Quality Notification
    ls_order_h_in-refdoctype = 'Z5'. "Quality Notification type
    ls_order_h_in-refobjkey = '000200000482'. "Ref. Quality Notification
    ls_order_h_in-doc_type = 'ZREN'. "Return Order type
    ls_order_h_in-sales_org = 'S001'.
    ls_order_h_in-distr_chan = '01'.
    ls_order_h_in-division = '01'.
Then I add a material as well as the mandatory partner functions. When I execute the Return Order is created but when I check the document flow for the Return Order there is no link to the Quality Notification.
Any suggestions on how to do this? I have tried using FM RV_DOCUMENT_FLOW_UPDATE_U for updating the document flow but it doesn't seem to like it when I enter a Notification in there. And when I run FM RV_ORDER_FLOW_INFORMATION for the above (working) Return Order there is no Quality Notification available. So this leads me to believe that I have to update something else then VBFA (Sales Document Flow)...
I would really appreciate all the help I can get on this.
