Quality of image

im searching for help!
i draw a mandelbrot fractal into some image files, that works great, but how can i get a better quality??
this is my code for the drawing, can someone help me, to get it?
please!!
this is my colormodel and my offpaint method!
// fill the colour table with silly color gradients
for (int index = 0; index < NUM_COLORS; ++index)
blue [index] = (byte) (64 + index % 64 * 3);
green[index] = (byte) ( 32 + index % 32 * 6);
red [index] = (byte) ( 252 - index % 64 * 4);
// add black to the table and create the colour model
blue[NUM_COLORS] = green[NUM_COLORS] = red[NUM_COLORS] = 0;
color_table = new IndexColorModel(8, NUM_COLORS + 1, blue, green, red);
public void offpaint (){
System.out.println("Ich war im offpaint()");
int width = w;//getWidth(); // component width
int height = h;//getHeight(); // component height
if (image == null || image.getWidth() != width ||
image.getHeight() != height)
byte pixels[] = new byte[width * height];
DataBufferByte buffer; // byte array buffer
WritableRaster raster; // image raster
int x, y; // pixel position
for (x = 0; x < width; ++x) // fill byte array
for (y = 0; y < height; ++y)
pixels[(height - 1 ... .....);
// use the byte array to fill the PackedRaster and create the
// BufferedImage from the WritableRaster and the ColorModel.
buffer = new DataBufferByte(pixels, pixels.length);
raster = Raster.createPackedRaster(buffer, width, height, 8, null);
image = new BufferedImage(color_table, raster, false, null);
offscreenGraphics = image.getGraphics();
offscreenGraphics.drawImage(image, 0, 0, this); // finally: draw it
// write the offscreen image on disk
File output;
File = new File(".\\Image\\mandel_X"+start_x+"_Y_"+start_y+".png");
try {
ImageIO.write(image, "PNG", outputFile);
} catch (Exception e) {
System.err.println(e.getMessage());
}

    What resolution are you using?  If the DVD is to be playable on an ordinary DVD player, only ordinary TV resolution is supported.  You need Blue ray for HD.

  • Trying to get a high quality still image

    Hi,
    I am trying to get a high quality still image from a 16mm film I completed years ago. I have had it transfered to digital format and brought it in to Final Cut Pro Studio 2. The distributor (Canyon Cinema) wants a high resolution image for the website. 600-dpi or better. When I create a still it comes out 72. How can I increase the resolution of the image for distribution on their website? Thanks to anyone who get guide me to the 21st century...

    DPI is essentially meaningless in the video world. DPI is a measurement for the print world only.
    But since video resolution equates roughly to 72 DPI, that's the best you'll get. Best to go back to the original film and pull a still from there.
    Or you could try one of those resolution enhancing plugins for Photoshop like Genuine Fractals.

  • Exporting high quality still images?

    Is it possible to export a high quality still image from video? I have used the export using qt conversion, exported it as a photoshop document and when I bring that doc into photoshop the image quality is poor at 300 dpi. It comes in at 10 inches X 6.67 inches at 72 dpi, but when I make it 300 dpi the image size is only 2.4 inches by 1.6 (this, of course, is when I turn off "resample image")
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Is it possible to export a high quality still image from video?< </div>
    Yes and no. it is no better than your video camera shot it. Generally, for conventional DV, that's roughly 500x800 pixels at a shutter speed of 1/30th second. HD formats and special frame rates, of course, produce other still images.
    720x486 at 72 DPI.< </div>
    I beg to quibble, or at least to be a pedant. The 72dpi is an artificial construct imposed by Photoshop. There is no dpi or lpi in video. You only get the raw pixels. You can make the pixels bigger by scaling up or you can throw some away by scaling down but, without additional work like resampling or applying a tool like Genuine Fractals, you cannot get any more pixels.

  • Hue/Saturation adjustment layer destroys quality of image?

    I have a very big and very high quality image. All I want to do is simply change the colour, but when I do this it completely destroys the quality of the image. How can I fix this or stop this from happening? I am currently using Photoshop CS5, is this problem fixed in CS6?
    Thank you so much to anyone who can shed some light on this problem
    Kkorb

    If you mean the way Hue/Sat tends to break up image integrity with posterization and exaggerated noise, then this is inherent in how the tool works (any given pixel is either affected or not). Extending the falloff range helps, and sometimes setting the layer to Color blend mode can minimize the effect.
    Try Selective Color instead. It's not as powerful, but works in a different way and doesn't do the same kind of damage.

  • Problems with quality of image since upgrading to Adobe Reader XI version11.0

    Since installing the new update I seem to be having a problem scanning files to PDF - first the scan missed off the bottom over every page but after several hours of changing settings on the computer and on the scanner (and actually uninstalling all printer and adobe software and reinstalling it again), this now seems to be ok - but the quality of the PDF is quite poor.
    I can't work out how to get a better quality and I am sure it is something to do with PDF / Adobe because when I scan the document and save it as word / TIFF / JPEG, the image is brilliant. I also can't seem to save any of the TIFF / JPEG files to PDF.
    Any ideas? The above problem is happening on my MAC and on the integrated Windows 7 via VMFusion Ware.
    Thanks

    Good Day!  I also noticed that after I installed the Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.1 that the image quality is very poor unless you zoom in a lot.  If I open the same PDF file with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.0, the image quality is very good.  There must be an issue with Reader XI Ver 11.0.1.  Also, I have found that if I select text and copy it to the clipboard, an error message pops up.  The text is, in fact, copied to the clipboard, so I don't know what the error is.  The error box is created by Adobe, not Microsoft Windows.

  • I am having problems with the image quality when image placing in indesign

    Hi
    I am finding that many illustrations are pixilating when I place them in indesign from illustrator or photoshop.  Some times I can rectify the issue by increasing the size or dpi of the image prior to placement, but I'm sure there must be another way.  How can I improve on the quality and definition of placed images in Indesign?

  • Quality of image after projecting an image on a ball service

    I am working on a 3DJava Applet which shows a ball that rotates. The user can select a location on the ball and then an image will need to be added to the ball.
    The image is a blue cicle which contains a green letter with a black border (GIF formatted image). I can correctly project the letter on the ball but the quality of the image becomes terrible i.e. very pixellated.
    How can I add this image to the ball without getting into quality problems? I tried for 2 weeks and wasn't able to find anything to solve the issue. Who can help or who has a sample code?
    Thanks a lot
    Lieperik

    Don`t know what to suggest, sorry. It may be that the ColorSpace converts java does internally don`t favour your graphic. Is there a chance you can post the effect somewhere so I can take a look?

  • Quality of images when Creating a Moble Me gallery

    When I create a Mobile Me Gallery in Aperture with raw format image, the JPEG images Aperture is sending are very low quality (probably about a 6 or 7 on the Jpeg quality setting). I have the gallery set to allow downloading actual size.
    I have previews set to quality 12 in Aperture, but it does not seem to use that value. I cannot fine any other setting for the images it exports for mobile me uploading.
    So far the only way I've found around this so far is to export all the images and make a gallery with though high quality exported jpegs. This is hardly ideal...

    I had the same feelings but could not find a decent solution. The MobileMe output options are not nearly as flexible as third party output plugins. Its infuriating that they wouldn't allow you to choose an output profile.
    Rather than accepting the hobbled workflow you describe, I switched to flickr which is a little more fun anyway though maybe not quite as nice for a portfolio.

  • Quality of images / video on new MBP

    Have recently bought a new MBP, and have been noticing that with some images and video, the quality is a bit off.
    I just tried taking a screen grab from the old powerbook, and one from the new MBP to show the difference, but they both look wrong on the MBP, and both look OK on the Powerbook :
    http://www.handprintdvd.co.uk/mbpdisplay.htm
    So not that much help!
    But there are basically sort of hotspot areas on the skin tones mostly.
    If anyone can shed any light on this, as to whether it may be an issue with the display, or if there is anything I can change in any settings somewhere to fix it, that would be much appreciated.

    Having rummaged further, it looks like it's the issue with gradients / dithering.
    Seen a few posts on the subject, but no solution.
    A lot of stuff about how they display thousands instead of millions of colours, and that's just how it is - but there's no way this is within acceptable limits of a £1,599 laptop.

  • Quality of images in iDVD

    Hi Team,
    I am a photographer, and looking for a way of creating a DVD that I can hand to people to give them an idea of my work.
    I have created a DVD in iDVD, and am impressed with the themes, and the ease with which I can add my photos and add audio. When I preview the DVD everything is perfect, and the photos in the preview look like they do when I view them outside of iDVD.
    However, when I burn the DVD and play the DVD on my Mac, or on the TV, the quality of the images has reduced a lot, and they are no longer as sharp and as clean as I would have hoped.
    Is there anyway to improve this? I have already set the encoding option to 'higher quality', and this helped, but my DVD is still not showing high quality images.
    If this can't be achieved with iDVD, do you know of another application that could help?

    Hiya,
    I also am a photographer, and it seems the family archiver! I just made a 10 min. slide show of my parent's marriage for the past 60 years and just skippede iDVD all together!
    I made a VERY decent 5 min. slide show in Fotomagico in less than an hour; of course than I blew it out to a 10 min. slide show, tweaked most of the photos and spent 2 days locating more photos and perfecting it! LOL (Using my son's original music and arrangements of big band music.)
    It looks VERY professional and not like I tossed it together. You can see my review that this project initiated on MacNN:

  • Aperture 3: low quality preview images

    I don’t know if it's just a problem with my (new) Aperture Trial library or if it's a Aperture 3 bug:
    The preview images Aperture 3 (trial) creates from raw files (in my case NEFs) are different from the JPEGs exported using the same JPEG settings.
    I get the impression that the preview images don’t use all the adjustments applied to the raw files. They don’t have the moire reduction applied. The preview images of high ISO images have color noise, the exported images don’t have that color noise (the moire and noise settings of raw fine tuning are applied to the exported files but not to the image previews).
    As the preview images are used for the Finder media browser, iLife, iPhone/iPod touch picture sync and other things the lower quality is not acceptable for me.
    The preview images of Aperture 2 are identical to the exported JPEGs from Aperture 2 (using the same settings).
    I use Aperture 3 Trial with a new trial library and a few hundred raw images just to test Aperture 3.
    I already erased all preview images and rebuild the previews. I deselected using the embedded JPEGs from the raw files and I let Aperture rebuild the miniatures.

    It seems that Ap2 syncs the previews to the iPhone... you have to clear the previous cached previews before it will load higher quality previews... anyhow, here is what I did... and photos look better on my iphone (not feeling motivated enough to verify if it is the same quality as iphoto sync)...
    1.) change Ap2 prefs for "limit preview size" to "don't limit"...
    2.) select all the photos in the album(s) you are want to sync, right click (ctrl click), and select delete previews...
    3.) sync your iphone again...
    if that doesn't work directly, you might need to uncheck sync photos to delete all photos on the iphone, but the ultimate goal is to ensure refresh with the higher quality previews...
    Hope that makes sense or gets folks in the right direction... Apple really needs to put a check box in future version of itunes to sync full quality or something...

  • Bad quality of images in preview mode

    Hello,
    we have the problems after our project migrating from .NET Framework 1 (Visual Studio 2003) to .NET Framework 4.0 (VS 2010 and SAP Crystal Reports).
    Report layouts contain Blob fields for images.
    The problem is the quality of these images makes worse in comparison with reports generated by old project.
    I tried to find the solution but I didn't. We can't use pictures or OLE objects instead of these fields because the list of images is created dynamically. Fields in report have less resolution than original images size, so CR compresses them.
    Thanks a lot,
    Nadiia

    I don't have any other ideas. It may be worth considering creating a phone case here:

    and get this investigated in more details and perhaps reported for a fix.

  • Low-quality iPhone images from Aperture 2.0

    Hi. I'm trying Aperture 2.0, and I configured iTunes to sync some photos from Aperture with my iPhone.
    The problem is, the photos on my iPhone from Aperture are noticeably lower in quality than those synced from iPhoto. The images are blurry and look like low-quality JPG's.
    In Aperture's preferences, I set the preview quality slider to maximum and set the limit preview size menu to "don't limit". Still, the images on my iPhone are of poor quality.
    Is there anything I can do to make the images Aperture exports to my iPhone look as good as those synced from iPhoto?
    Thanks!

  • How to i resize a larger 72ppi image to better quality smaller image but for correct size to paste into flyer

    Hi, I am trying to resize a larger 16cm wide image saved at 72dpi to a smaller better quality 5cm wide image for invites for an art exhibition I am having. I figure there must be lots of information in the pic given that it is large, I just want to condense it into a smaller image. If I adjust the size to 5 cm wide it changes the dpi to 230 which would be better for printing (the 72 dpi is way too grainy). However when I paste it into the flyer I am making in photoshop it pastes as a massive picture. I then tried to drag the corners in to make it the right size and it became even grainier than a 5cm wide 72dpi image. I hope that makes sense to someone. So basically I need a 5cm wide document size that I can put in my small flyer that is the best quality I can make it! Thanks in advance!

    Up-sampling from 72ppi to 300-600ppi can result in blurry images.  It's always best to start with a good quality, high resolution image if you can.  Go to Image > Image Size.  When up-sampling, use Bicubic Smoother setting.  When down-sampling, use Bicubic Sharper.  See screenshot.

  • How to decrease PDF file size without losing quality of images and vector lines?

    I have several ai files that I saved as PDFs. Now I'm having problem with the size of this combine files. Can some one assist me with the proper way on decreasing file size without losing quality.
    Thank you.

    I am having the same problem with a different file that's in a different format mentioned above. I'm trying to convert a ".srf" file and turn it into a ".pdf." I was successful doing this but my image, once in a .pdf was also pixilated.
    I thought if I convert my ".srf" file to a ".jpeg" first, then bring this newly created ".jpeg" into a ".pdf," I would have more luck. But unfortunately the free download I got on my computer that's supposed to convert any file to any file, CANNOT convert ".srf" files to ANYTHING!
    Does anyone have any ideas? Or any specific programs I should get?
    Thanks!
