Quicktime errors after effects cc2014

i've been getting quicktime errors in after effects cc14, windows 8.1, update 1. when importing a quicktime file that opens and plays in vlc, and quicktime player, i'm getting the error "After Effects error: file 'xxx.mov" cannot be imported this .mov file is damaged or unsupported. i've uninstalled quicktime and reinstalled to no avail.

Does AE CC work? (I mean, you're using version 13. Does version 12 work?)

Hi, I had a problem with AECC when trying to open it it said the error: After Effect cannot open becaujse TBB.dll is missing from you computer. Please Reinstall. I thought "ok, if I only reinstall it it is not a problem" but I came to another problem: How do I uninstall it? It does not show up in the control panel and on the CC Manager it says it is up to date.

That might fix AE, however, it sounds from your posts that Photoshop isn't working either, but your post isn't very clear. You say something about Fireworks too...
More info about your specific setup might be useful.
Again, it sounds like something got corrupted on your machine, so uninstalling all your software, running the CC Cleaner tool, and reinstalling is a pretty good suggestion if the regular uninstall/reinstall doesn't work.

For troubleshooting, for client compatibility, for workflow requirements, and for many other reasons. On my home machine I have AE CS5, CS6, CC, and CC 2014 all installed and am happy that I can download and install older versions of other Adobe software if I need them too.

I just can't render any type of Quicktime file in AE CC 2014. I'm on Windows 8.1.
Even in CS6 was it not possible, but I never really used any Quicktime filetypes.
Normally I just rendered to .h264, but now that's only available via the insane slow Adobe Media Encoder, I want to use the Quicktime -> h.264 option, but it's just not possible.
I also want to render some footage to the Avid DNxHD codec, but this is also not possible.
Doesn't matter what type of footage, dslr footage, pictures, AE solids. Everytime I want to render in a Quicktime file I get this error:
AE error: Rendering error while writing to file (File-Location). Unable to open file. (-1610153459)
Installed the latest Windows version of Quicktime, didn't help...
I saw some topics about this, but they didn't provide a good solution. All they discussed was the hardware of the computer. I have enough space available and render to a NTFS drive.

Yes! I just solved my own problem. I still think that the internet doesn't provide an easy to find answer, so I will post this.
I had the latest version of Quicktime, but this version causes the problem. After some searching I finally found a page on the Apple website that confirms this.
Updating to QuickTime 7.4 may cause issues while rendering footage in Adobe After Effects - Apple Support
So I uninstalled my latest version of Quicktime and installed version 7.4.1. Everything works now the way it's supposed to!

Error After effects quicktime Render

I am facing a problem rendering in After Effects CS5.
This is my computer :
- Windows 7 Pro 64bit
- Processor: Intel Xeon E5 2660 V2 - 20CPU
- 32GB Ram
- CG: Nvidia GTX 780 TI
My problem:
I'm working on a movie with a green screen sequences in .mov, animation codec. When I start rendering, it runs for a few pictures and then the error:
Error made in the background. Rendering in the foreground will be activated after 229 images out of 486 (26 § 142)
After Effects (Error) Error (4) when reading image from file D: \ ****** \ Sequences \ TV_Sequence-3a6.mov. (86 § 2)
After Effects (error): Keylight out of memory. (4) (25 § 241)
I tried a lot of manipulation:
- Checking "using the OpenGL" and it works but the rendering time is multiplied by 10 if not more.
- By changing the format of the green screen sequences (wmv, mp4, avi) and it works. So it's really a .mov problematic.
- By activating or not, the hyperthreading and it crashes.
- By testing a render without movie inside the comp and it works
So I think it comes from Quicktime and the number of processor cores, but how to solve this problem? : s

The QuickTime version is 7.7.5.
With my old machine, it worked perfectly.
I can make a render in .mov (animation, h.264, etc ) with no .mov in my comp but if there is, after effects gives me an error ...

QuickTime with After Effects 13.1

Hi, i am running After Effects CC 13.1, on windows 7 Ultimate.
Up until few days ago no problem occured, until last night when i got this beautifull sucker. Nothing was installed or updated that could interfere with Quick Time

Is there any reason you haven't updated to the latest version of AE (13.2.0.49)?
What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
Have you installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 7?

I received an error "After Effects can't continue; unexpected failure at startup"

to start out, i have already tried repairing permissions, and reinstalling (correctly) AE. I run a Macbook Pro 15" late 2011, and mountain lion. I recently migrated my 500Gb to a new 1Tb internal SATA drive. This is the only application from Adobe that is giving me this error (I have the Production Premium collection). I need help, and any help is welcome!

This is the error that is on the log, and the only log item about AE.

Error After Effects CC 12.0 OS X (Mavericks)

Fiz o upgrade para o OS X Mavericks, agora o After Effects CC 12.0 não abre, pede para fazer uma atualização, já fiz do CreaviteCloud, também já tentei fazer com pacth 12.1, quando abro diz: "Falha na atualização" "está correção não se aplica a você ". O que posso fazer?

Be sure that you are signed in and have activated the software—i.e., ensure that you are not running After Effects in free trial mode. The update will not work if you are running the application in trial mode. After Effects CC2014 cannot launch

If anyone can assist with this I would be grateful. I have subscribed to Creative Cloud and have installed a variety of programs. One of these - After Effects - will not open. Rather I witness the following message when trying to do so:
After Effects warning: Could not create the file '/Users/user/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.2/dummy'.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

After Effects cc2014 presets to early version

Hello!
I made presets in AE СС2014 in Windows. I sent them to a friend. He have AE CS5 and Mac OS. He place them to Applications/Adobe After Effects CS5/Presets and to Documents/Adobe/After Effects CC.
Reload AE and did not see the presets in the panel Effects&Presets->Animation Presets->Presets... or in Effects&Presets->Animation Presets->User Presets...
Is it impossible to open the presets in earlier versions? And if on the Mac OS will be installed СС2014 everything will be okay?

Animation presets are not backwards-compatible. You can't use an animation preset created with a new version of After Effects in an old version of After Effects.

ITunes and Quicktime Error after automatice Apple update, need help!!!

So I currently have a new labtop with windows vista. I have been runining iTunes for the pass 3 months already no problems. The Apple automatic update has never caused any problems till now. Quicktime needed to be updated today, and I accecpted the update, prior to that iTunes and Quicktime was working properly. Once the quicktime update was complete, it restarted my computer like usual. Then when I tried to open iTunes this error came up:
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
Now I checked the audio configuration and nothing was changed or anything, that has not been touched at all, so I still think it had to do with the update. The next error was came up when I tried to open Quicktime and it read:
"Runtime Error!
Program C://ProgramFiles/QuickTime/QuickTimePlayer.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information"
So as long as I have been using Quicktime and iTunes I have never encountered this, I tried to re-install but the error kept coming up after it was installed. Please help me out!

Hello, I am thoroughly enjoying not being able to get work done, but I would love to get my work done ._. This error message came up today with no reason, speaking that I did plenty of work on AE yesterday. Before this happened though, I got "ERROR CODE: 16" (Real creative), which would not even let AE start initializing. I fixed that and then I got this error. So I decided I would simply re-install the application (AND ALL MY PLUG-INS), but now I just get this stupid error. Without "ERROR CODE: 16". BUT, to make things more ammusing, I get a message saying that Quicktime is not installed. BUT IT IS! I reinstalled that and still get that pop-up. So, how do I fix this program that is broken with errors?

How can I add a gradient to the opacity of a layer in After Effects CC2014?

I'm looking to create a simple gradient across a map such that the left of the map is transparent and the right is opaque. Any help is appreciated.

If the map is a single layer. you can also use an mask and feathering to accomplish the same thing in a single layer.
It depends on the project at hand, and what you need to do in it.

Error "After Effects Needs Two or more Frames to Playback" in AE 13.2.0.49

Can someone please help me I'm having this problem also.
I'm using 13.2.0.49 and have updated today. I have emptied the Disk Cache and Cleaned the Database and Cache from the AE preferences, I have quit and opened the project several times. I have the Reduce cache size when system is low on memory box UNTICKED.
So what do I try next can someone please help Adobe??

After Effects unable to render error -1610153464

I use Adobe CS6. Today, I upgraded to CC. I work on a MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM, and the latest OS X, Mountain Lion. Here's my dilemma.
Although I own the CS6 Master Collection, I have never used After Effects. So, I am an AE newbie. For years I have mainly used the other apps, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, InDesign, etc.
I wanted to prepare a presentation for my company. I purchased an After Effects template that I liked. http://videohive.net/item/new-company-presentation/5182042
When I opened the template I received the following message: "After Effects: this project must be converted from version 9.0 (Windows) and will open as an untitled project. The original file swill be unchanged."
After quite some time creating and preparing all my samples in a Quicktime movies I was ready to customize the AE template.
Following the AE template author's instructions I was able to customize the template, editing text, importing my movies. When I added the "Final Comp" to the Render Cue, and then started rendering, I immediately got the following error: "After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file '/Users/...Final Comp.mov'. An output device module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupt. (-1610153464)"
I tried rendering the original unedited file. Same error.
I tried researching solutions.

I tried exporting the file from AE to Premier Pro. But, got the following message when opening the file in Premier:
"The preset is used by one or more sequences in this project requires third-party components that could not be located. These sequences will be modified to use a custom sequence setting instead. To continue editing using the original preset, quit the application without saving the project, then install any third-party components that are required and reopen the project." Note: The author of the AE template said that no external plug-ins were used, that everything was created in AE.
Also, when opening the file in Premier, a "Load Project" window open listing the following:
"Video filter missing: AE.ADBE Color Control
"Video filter missing: AE.ADBE Fill
"Video filter missing: AE.ADBE Slider Control"
I attempted to do a render from Premier anyway. But, got the following error: "Could not connect to Adobe After Effects. Please verify that Adobe After Effects and Adobe Dynamic Link components are installed." I checked, They are!
I finally "bit the bullet" and upgrade to, and installed the Creative Cloud version of After Effects hoping that this may be a solution.
Today, I installed After Affects CC. This time when I began the render, AE started to render. Then, after a couple seconds of video being generated the same errors reappeared!
Can anyone offer some guidance as to how I can get this resolved?

Today, I created a whole new project. Imported an Adobe Illustrator file with five layers. One background layer, the rest were text layers. The entire project is 11 seconds. I made some minor effects to the text in After Effects, position, and opacity. Went to render it, and the same error appeared.
I have the error log file if it will help.
Please help.

After Effects Error "error cannot be imported this moov file is damaged or unsupported"

I'm working on a AE project and shut the project down before going to lunch. I come back and open it up and I get this error:
after effects error cannot be imported this moov file is damaged or unsupported
Nothing had changed in my project since earlier today. I've tried to import other .mov's and get the same error, I've also tried to relink the footage.
Any thoughts?
