RE : Fax Solution

Hi,
We had a similar problem, it was not fax but was e-mail. We were
developing e-mail enabled Forte apps and we wanted to communicate with
MAPI( Messaging API of Microsoft). The way we achieved this was by
wrapping the MAPI in a C/C++ DLL and interfacing the DLL's exported
functions with Forte. Microsoft also provides Mapi.dll and Mapi32.dll
which can be programatically loaded from within a C/C++ program and
different functions exported by the DLL called independently.
I'm not sure if there are any externally callable DLLs for
Microsoft Fax services.( like MAPI32.dll for messaging services). If
there is one, you could use the same approach.
Hope this helps

Subject: Fax solution
Hi,
We are trying to send faxes from our Forte application.
The problem with using Microsoft fax is that we cannot
find a way to transfer information from our Forte Application
to the Microsoft fax program. Can anyone have suggestions
as to how we can transfer information, such as the customer's
phone number, to the Microsoft fax program and get a return
value that indicates the success of the fax delivery.
Would appreciate commments.

  • How to set up fax solution using Windows 2008 R2 Fax server role and Exchange 2007

    Hello,
I don't know if this is the right forum to post this but since it is related to Exchange I thought it might be. If this is not the right place, please direct me to the forum where my post would be more appropriate.
I'm looking to set up a Fax solution for the company that I work for as we are moving away from analog phone lines to VoIP using SIP. My original thought was to set up a Windows 2008 R2 server with Fax server role installed and have it route the fax message
to Exchange 2007 SP3 so the fax message can be delivered to each user's inbox. I was reading a little bit on the Windows Fax server role and from what I saw it looks like it can only route fax messages to one email address. This not ideal for my company. Is
there a way to have the fax server role route the email to each user's inbox? If so, how can I achieve this?
How can implement this for this sending outgoing faxes as well?
I don't know if this releveant or not but I will be using Asterisk as a media gateway between our SIP trunks and the Windows Fax server.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • ATA FAX solution

    Dear all,
I configured the ata device in callmanager 8.5 version and given ext:6659, it is working fine
their is incoming and outgoing calls, but when i want to use it for fax machine it is not working
    I even edited the settings
    audiomode =0x00050005
    connectmode = 0x00000400
    LBRcodec=3
whenever I call a fax number its not ringing and giving a busy tone and getting disconnected
    Can anyone guide?

I'm guessing you changed those settings after reading the Configuring and Troubleshooting the Cisco ATA 186 with Fax TechNote.
The first questionable piece is why you are getting a busy signal. The fax switchover happens after the call connects so you should be able to dial any number. If you can't, you need to troubleshoot that as a normal call routing issue.
Once you're able to call the number but the fax machines either fail to train or train but fail to transmit pages then you need to verify that the PSTN gateway your ATA is interacting with has a compatible fax passthrough configuration applied. From the TechNote above, this would involve at least two commands:
    voice service voip
    modem passthrough nse codec g711ulaw
    fax rate disable

  • Make your own Fax Server with Automator! (Pagesender solution for Mavericks)

I have been scouring these discussion boards for some time now looking for a suitable substitute to PageSender, an awesome fax solution for the Mac from SmileOnMyMac LLC, which for some inexplicable reason stopped development and updates after OS 10.6.8. The result is that many small business office users who still rely on fax (and yes...no matter what they tell you, most of the business world DOES still use fax because it's legally binding and more secure than email for the transmission of legal documents or healthcare records, and does not rely on database integration accross different systems, which is sadly but very realistically still a long ways off), and no longer have a way to integrate faxes into a paperless or digital workflow office system.
I suspect like many folks who receive faxes, those who used PageSender, used a very powerful feature to forward faxes by email, thereby turning your Mac into a Fax server that could distribute your faxes to other workstations and staff throughout the business via email. Presumably, if you have your own email server (Exchange, Kerio, AppleMail server, PostFix enabler etc.) you could distribute faxes on your own internal network, securely behind a firewall, and effectively create a digitial/paperless workflow for your faxes.
Even if you have a USB modem or multifunction printer that allows you to recieve a Fax to your desktop (Apple's internal fax via printer preferences, and some HP models like the HP MFP 127fw) for example will allow you to recieve a Fax to a desktop folder or forward to a single email address. But the former is of limited functionaliy and the later only lets you send to an email address out over the internet with a registered public domain, which means you give up all control of privacy and means you can't process it through a private mail server to create a digital workflow for your office...
    ...Until now!!!
I am happy to report that I have finally discovered a very easy and useable feature that will save a lot of time, money, and headaches for those looking to create a digital workflow and fax server system for a small office system. (I don't think there is any limit to scale here, but I suspect offices with more than 10 employees probably have a BizHub, or HP MFP/digital sender that can create the same process directly from the printer, but of course these come with a price tag of $2000 and up...).
To accomplish this however, you will need some basic requirements which are as follows:
    1) A USB modem from either US Robotics or Zoom Modem. These are readily available from Amazon, MacMall or any number of other online vendors and work very well and seemlessly with all Macs running OSX right up through Mavericks
    OR
A Multifunction printer that is capable of receiving faxes to a desktop Mac like the HP 127 fw. Other models exist from other manufacturers as well, but you will have to do a bit of research and probably check with the vendor or user manual directly to confirm that Fax to desktop is supported for Mac and OS 10.9.
    2) A dedicated Mail Server (MSFT Exchange, Kerio, MacOSX server with mail server enabled, or PostFix enalber or MailServe from Cutedge Systems)
You will need to set up an email account on your server that is the parent for all incoming faxes from which the faxes will be sent out as part of your digital workflow. This is beyond the scope of this discussion but if you've come this far and you're still reading, you probably know  how to do this already. I recommend setting this up as a POP account, not IMAP. This way, the attatchments (your faxes) will always remain on your server as a back up, until you delete them from the server.
    3) Now simply go to System preferences and select "Printers and Scanners". Select either the Fax printer for your multifunction printer, or add a fax printer/reviever using the + button and select "Fax" if you are using a USB modem. You must have the USB modem attatched to the computer in order to use the built-in Apple Fax feature for the latter option.
    4) Now click on the receive options. Select "Recieve faxes to this computer" and set your ring answer settings. Check "Save to" and select the designated folder (either Faxes or Shared Faxes on your computer) or create a new folder. Depending on the volume of faxes, and your back up systems, you may want to designate a separate folder on a separate drive, exclusively for your Faxes. This is where all your faxes will be stored.
    5) Now launch "Automator" in your applications folder and create a new workflow. You will be presented with several options. Select "Folder Action".
    6) At the top right of the window space you will see "Folder Action receives files and folders added to" . Select the Fax folder you created in step 4.
7)On the left hand side of the "Actions" menu select "Mail"
    8) From the list of actions select "New Mail Message" this will take the latest Fax added to your Fax folder and attach it as a PDF to a new outgoing mail. In the "TO" address put the email address that belongs to the parent account your created for the Faxes on your mail server eg. [email protected].  In the subject field you can put "Fax Workflow" or any other generic subject that will identify to all reciptients that this is an email that contains a Fax/PDF attatchment.
Under "account" use the SMTP account you set up on your mail server to handle the routing of internal emails. In most cases, this will be the same as the parent account created above. (Effectively, this account is sending and receiving emails to itself).
    9) From the list of actions, select "Send outgoing messages".
    10) Save the Automator workflow with a name like "FaxDistribution" or "FaxFlow".
    11) Go back to the Fax folder you created in step 4. Right click or option click on the folder and scroll down the options menu and select "Folder Actions Setup". You will see a list of scripts including the Automator workflow you just created. Choose it.
That's it!! From now on, when you get a fax, it will get dumped into the designated fax folder, and this will automatically trigger the workflow to atttach and send it as an email to anyone in your office that is set up to receive emails with the "faxserver" address. You now have a paperless fax digital workflow server system for distributing your faxes digitally to anyone in your office who needs to review your faxes. Good luck!

Thank you for this interesting posting.

  • EPrint to fax instead of ePrint to print

HP has laid the groundwork to provide for a mobile faxing solution.  As it stands, from my smart phone I can now attach a document, email it to my printer by way of HP's ePrint proxy service, and the document prints on my printer.  I rarely need to do this.
It would be a simple step to allow the attached document to be faxed from my printer (using the fax printer driver) instead of using the standard printer driver.  It appears that everything is in place to do this, just needs a little tweaking.  Brother already does what I'm suggesting on their higher-end laser jets.
Is it possible to do this with my 8500A 910n?  By doing this, HP could take a huge chunk of business away from companies like eFax, etc.

The market is looking for a solution for ePrint fax. It seems that hp should take  care about it and provide a convinient solution. By doing so it seem obvious that hp AIO machines will be promoted highly, since lawyers, engineers and doctors are looking for such solution, as any small business. I hope hp  will provide this tweaking.

  • MGCP Gateways and Cisco Fax

We are considering adding a fax solution to our IPT infrastructure using Cisco Fax (Captaris RightFax). Ideally we would like the same voice gateways to terminate the fax calls (internal voice calls use QSIG and external calls use Q.931). Can this be achieved with MGCP-controlled Voice gateways? Can T.38 fax be configured with an MGCP gateway. I have seen examples where H.323 dial-peers are required to talk SIP to the Fax Server.
If not, is an alternative to use a back-to-back PRI connection between a voice gateway port and the Fax Server ISDN card, with appropriate route patterns in CallManager to route the fax calls to Fax Server, using Cisco Fax Relay?

with cm 4.2.3 there is mgcp t.38 support implemented.

  • Adobe Reader temp files build up and stop faxing.

We use an eFax software developed by FaxBack. Recently we started faxing nightly invoices. These invoices run at approx 12:00am. There are anywhere from 100-400 faxes nightly. The fax program uses Adobe Reader 9.0 to process PDF documents through the fax server. We noticed a high volume of temp files are building up in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp. They appear as Z@S2E##.tmp. These temp files, for whatever reason bog down the applicaitons and make it unable to send out faxes, and we get failed confirmations due to a "conversion error", clear the temp files and faxing is back on track. I worked with FaxBack for a couple weeks on this and they finally said there isnt anything they can do as it is an Adobe issue and they have no control over it. As a bandaide i made a batch file to run nightly that basically stops the fax service, clears the temp files created by adobe, then starts the fax service again. The problem with this is once or twice a week this aggrivating fax software doesnt want to start the service back up so faxes just build in a queue until we manually start it back up.
I realize the fax service is the larger problem, but with times as they are a new faxing solution will not be met for some time. Is there a way to alter the path of these temp files? Perhaps send them to the recycle bin, or make is so Adobe doesn't create them?

this sounds like it could be related to the following issue:

  • Please help: Problem sending fax to one recipient using Apple USB Modem

    Hello,
I'm using an Apple USB Modem to send an receive faxes on my PowerMac G5. This is working great to the most recipients, but not one with a Philips fax machine.
The problem is, that everybody can send faxes to him - except of me
I'm using a software called Pagesender for this, I e-mailed the support and he told me, that the my fax is timing out and some of his customers have made positive reports of Zoom and Best Data Modems in cases where the Apple Modems have encountered line noise.
Also the Tiger fax solution doesn't work ... The odd things are, that I could send faxes using a stationary fax machine and don't have problems to send faxes to others ...
Is there really no solution for this.

  • Re: Fax Server connect to SAP

    Hi,
I want to connect the SAP to our fax server. The objective is that
when the PO is completely release, it will generate a  PO in PDF and sent it to the supplier by mean of our fax server.
Is this feasible?, if yes, any help how this can be achieve. Thanks in advance
    She

    Hi,
We just implemented a Fax solution for automatic delivery of PO via Fax. You need to implement a fax server and integrate it to SAP. We used third party solution with Biscom Fax Servers for solution and Aventx software (STR Software ) company provides a software that talks to SAP and FAX Server. Once the AventX software is installed, you need an RFC connection.
You also might need a development team to work on the Format the PO comes out when you use Fax as an Output Type. It might just comeout using SAP standard form, and if you got a custom form then you will also need a Z output type created, a new custom form which is a mimic to the output that comes as a printout.
It is certainly more than just saying ask SAP Basis to connect to Fax Server.
    Good Luck.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 um fax with Lync integrated

    Hi!
We are planning to deploy Exchange Um and integrate this with our Lync enterprise Voice users. We are also looking at replacing some older fax solutions. When I started to read the Exchange UM documentation I noticed this:
"Sending and receiving faxes using T.38 or G.711 isn't supported in an environment where Unified Messaging and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 or Microsoft Lync Server are integrated. "
Does this mean that if we integrate Exchange and Lync we will not be able to configure FAX in Exchange UM?
    -UC

Right, but to be clear, there are other products for fax that work with AudioCodes/Exchange (faxcore.com) and we've implemented fax server solutions with Lync and Exchange UM many times, so it's not that you can't have the functionality, you'd just use another
    method to get it.
