Built-in templates for Legal Consolidation in SAP BPC

Hi guys
I am doing a demo for legal consolidation and was wondering if there are built-in input scehdules (templates) in SAP BPC to assign the consolidation methods to entities (to let the system know how an entity needs to be rolled up in a group)?
Also are there any input schedules (templates) to enter the Ownership % and Control % for various subsidiaries under a parent?

I don't think any of the default applications come with pre-built input templates. The legal applications does come with a number of pre-configured business rules, but as far as pre-built input templates go none are available. That being said, it is pretty easy to build a simple input template using the dynamic templates that come with BPC. Starting with one of these you should be able to configure one of them for your demo without much trouble. Let me know if you need help with that.

SAP BPC & Templates & Dimentions

I need your help. Iu2019m trying to do something with the templates of the SAP BPC but I donu2019t know how to do it, or if itu2019s possible.
In a template in the rows can appear the properties of a dimension, I mean that I can see it physically, but not as to filter with that property. For example, if I a put u201Crestaurantu201D I want to show me the address of this u201Crestaurantu201D, like if it was an attribute of BW.
Here I want to put the address like a property of the dimension.
In the beginning, the answer in u201CNOu201D, it canu2019t appear, but do you know how can I do this? Is it possible?

You have function like EVPRO function which is providing the values of property for a specifiv member of a dimension.

Error when loading templates on connection to SAP-BPC

Dear Experts,
I have a user who has a error when connecting to SAP-BPC. The error message this user gets is:

We already tried to connect with the user login on another computer and it worked correctly.
We also reinstalled Excel and SAP-BPC but with no sucess. The same error message appears.

Currency Translation - Rolling Forecast

Hi,
Scenario is: We're doing 13 months rolling forecast which goes beyond one year. When currency translation happens, as part of default logic, it converts the records only for the year of forecast (selected in current view) and not beyond the current view year.
For instance, if selected forecast period 2011.JAN, we expect user to input numbers from 2011.JAN through to 2012.JAN. System run the currency conversion package and translate records for periods 2011.JAN - 2011.DEC, and doesn't convert 2012.JAN because it is the next year (not selected in current view).
Following is the code I'm using in the FX Conversion package:
*RUN_PROGRAM CURR_CONVERSION
      CATEGORY     = %VERSION_SET%
      CURRENCY = USD
      TID_RA = %TIME_SET%
      RATEENTITY = GLOBAL
      OTHER = ENTITY=%CURRENCY_SET%

Can you please suggest any resolution, i.e. how I can enhance the code to convert records whatever I get from runtime (template) and not just restricted to CV Year?

While executing Currency translation, if you can select 13 months (say,from 2011.Jan to 2012.Jan ) in data manager parameter, Conversion executes for all 13 months as %TIME_SET% take value from your data manager prompt.
If you are identify %TIME_SET% based on Year in Category dimension, you can try below code.
*SELECT(%YEAR%, [YEAR], CATEGORY, "[ID]='FORECAST'")
*SELECT(%TIMEMBR%,[ID],TIME,"[YEAR]=%YEAR%")
*XDIM_MEMBERSET TIME=%TIMEMBR%,%YEAR+1%.JAN

SAP BPC 7.5 NW - BPF Error

Hi all,
I have created a BPF template in BPC 7.5 NW. When I click on a step, an input schdule should open up in Interface for Excel, but this does not happen. No action is excuted. Whereas the same BPF template in another system (in the same domain) opens up as expected. I did check the computer settings and both the computers have the same settings. We run on Windows 7 (64-bit), MS Office 2010 (32-bit) and SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP07 Patch 1.

Add your BPC IP address under trusted sites of Internet explorer and check.
Tools>Internet Options>Security-->Trusted Sites->Sites

SAP BPC 7.0NW (project in Ramp-Up)

Hi,
We are doing 2 Ramp-Ups currently on the BPC for Netweaver version, and I have a question relating to script logic.
Knowing the Microsoft version very well, we are quite experienced with using logic for budgeting or forecasting purposes. I have read that ABAP/BADI's are the alternative for SQL Logic or could be. In fact, I am looking for the alternative statements of the SQL logic, but then Netweaver-compatible.
- Is there information available on how to write BPC-logic based on ABAP/BADI's?
- Will all of the SQL logic available in the Microsoft version become fully available in the NW version (now very limited availability)?

Hi Bjorn,
The alternative to SQL based script logic in SAP BPC NetWeaver would be MDX based functions. There are 2 methods that you can utilize.
1. MDX based functions
2. ABAP based functions/ BADI's
SQL Logic in NetWeaver environment doesn't work. You may try utlizing microsoft based MDX in NetWeaver environment. Well, it is up to you if you are able to utilize BADI's too prefereable method in terms of NewWeaver environment. You may have to get the information from SAP regarding what standard functions are available in writing script logic using ABAP/BADI's.

Hi Sandeep,
1:We need to look at whether cost center planning is tied to a profit center level and/or to a company code level
2:We could have dimensions like Account(which in this case would reflect cost element),category,entity,time with additional dimension s like profit center(cost centers can have a direct mapping to profit center,usage of properties would help in here),WBS ,projects,investment position id's etc.
3:We could look at different applications like HR(pay roll related expenses),admin,capex(to bring in depreciation values) etc to bring in data to pull in data to different cost centers either directly or via script logic(usage of destination_app)
4:For those values not tied up to profit centers ,we would look at allocating/distributing the expenses to different cost elements
5:We need to decide whether we do the planning on a monthly/periodic vs yearly level where in we would look at actual values and incrementing at a certain % to fill in as the base for our planning(using category=actual/plan plus timeperiods).We could look at Top down vs botton up approach as well to segregate the planned costs
6:Consideration should be made at security level to identify/restrict different users who needs to access specific cost centers
Yes,this is just a small jist of structure,there are 100's of other considerations which would come into picture from a business requirement level.

Reports in SAP BPC

Dear All,
I uploaded datafile succssfully. And i am displaying uploaded data in BPC-Web---->Darg & Drop report.
But When i am trying to dispaly my uploaded data in BPC-Execel-->Reporting & Analysis->Bulid a report using dynamic template
my budget items are disaplying but amounts are not diaplaying.
Can any one please give me guidence.

In SAP BI, we have standard BI content reports which is present which just needs to be installed and is ready to be used.We are trying to find such Audit trail reports and unable to find those reports in SAP BPC 10 NW version.

SAP BPC 7.5 SP6 on Win 7 x64bit & MS Off 2010 - Path not Found errors

Hi,
We have currently started a test group of 16 users to test Win 7 before migrate the entire company. Some of the test users are in Accounting and they use SAP BPC 7.5 for their Budget and Forecasting. We have Win 7 x64 bit and MS Office 2010 installed. For one user, after logging into the Production server for BPC he opens the report library and he is unable to get certain macros to allow for different changes within the excel spreadsheet. For example, there is a section that asks him to change the company name. When he clicks on the field to do so it says "Path Not Found".
Another user when he tries to open up a report, he gets "Loading Dimension information..(Customer)" then a popup comes and says File not found. We have tried to uninstall and reinstall BPC on the new machines to no avail.
Any help you can provide would be great. If more information is needed, please let me know.

Hi Lakiasha,
Could you re-install .NET 2.0, .Net 3.0. .Net 3.5 framework on the machines and check the results.
I guess you may need to upgrade your BPC server as well as client version to SP8 ( minimum) to work with MS office 2010.

Email notification for instance activation not working - SAP BPC 7.5

Hello Everybody,
I have a problem with email notification in SAP BPC 7.5.
I want to configure an email notification to whenever an instance is activated.
I have followed one How-To guide and basically I have created and activated a template in SAP GUI with transaction se38 and a program called UJB_MAINTAIN_EMAIL_TMPL.
Also, the web server was configured by systems admin.
But still is not working.
I am completely new with SAP BPC so I donu2019t know what more can I do to solve the problem.

Hi,
Usually, we maintain the dimension called category which is similar to versions in SAP terminology. This dimension will have "actual", "budget", "forecast", etc. When the planning starts, a budget will be created for the entire year. Then a rolling forecast is started, which is executed every month or as per the requirement. This forecasted value will be stores in the "forecast" category. Now, when each month passes by, the business gets the actual values. For example, lets say that you are doing a sales planning. Once each month passes by, you get the actual sales the business has done in that month. This value will be stored in the "actual" category.

SAP BPC MS 7.5 with Extended Analytic Analyzer and EPM connector

I need your inputs regarding Extended Analytic Analyzer add ins.
I installed the SAP Business Object Extended Analytic Analyzer hoping to integrate the Xcelsius in SAP BPC MS 7.5
I am following the HTG to integrate but got lost.
In EPM connector steps, I cannot find the option from OPERATION TYPE: Retrieve data using Analyzer Report.
The only options available under operation type are
EPM Report
Retrieve Environments
Retrieve Models
Retrieve Dimensions
Retrieve Dimension Members
Input Data
Retrieve Business Process Flows
Retrieve Context
Retrieve Members Property Values
RetrieveText From Library
It doesn't include the option Retrieve data using Analyzer Report.
Im wondering if there are different version of the epm connector? Was my EPM connector differs from the HTG?
And also in Excel under Extended Analytic Analyzer, the function =GETREPORTDEFINITION() is missing

It seems a very good oportunity to use FIM.
FIM was designed especially for exchange data betweeen different SAP product.
FIM will provide an easy way to do the conversion using wizards and also will assure you about data inetgrity and quality.
This will be the way forward but more details has to be define during the implementation.

Performance issues with SAP BPC 7.0/7.5 (SP06, 07, 08) NW

There are some performance issues with SAP BPC 7.5/7.0 NW, users are saying they are not getting data or there are some issues while getting data from R/3 system or ECC 6.0. Then what things do I need to consider to check, such as what DataSources or Cubes I need to check? So, how to solve this issue?
What things I need to consider for SAP NW BI 7.0 u2013 SAP BPC 7.5 NW (SP06, 07, 08) Implementation?

Hi,
New SP was released in February, and now most of the new bugs should been caught ,This has a Central Note. For SP06 it's Note 1527325 - Planning and Consolidation 7.5 SP06 NetWeaver Central Note to fix any issues. Most of the improvements in SP06 were related to performance, especially when logging on from the BPC clients.There you should be able to find a big list of fixes/improvements and Notes that describe those. Some of the Notes even have test description how to reproduce that issue in the old version.
