Repair Department, Do they really care?

Once again today I had to request for phone line repair. There is always a constant hum on my land line phone. It has been there since I bought my house in July of 2009. Verizon has been out multiple times to repair it but it only lasts a couple of weeks and then the hum is back. These past 2 days the hum is worse and now there are crackles. I've tried to switch providers but they are limited in the country.
Today the repair department stated that the repair man would be at my house on monday before 9pm. That's 3 more days away. Don't really know why the 3 days bother me. It's not like I pretty much don't have reliable phone service any other days. I think it was the fact that since I've been dealing with this problem for so long I thought they would want to fix it sooner.
A small telephone co-op from the next town over is laying fios cables in my area. I so excited. If a small home town co-op can offer these type of services, why is it that a big company such as VERIZON cannot even provided the basic services?
Oh yeah, don't think that verizon offers me a discount either. I still pay the same price as everyone else for substandard service.

I could have written that post. In just over 6 years at this address (Burton, Tx) I have had almost 30 repair calls. Seems a bit excessive to me, but by VerizOFF's standards, it's OK. They get their money every month, and it's a crap shoot whether of not I get anything for it. Good luck on that FIOS switch. I hope you get to switch before VerizOFF drives you crazy, as it is me.

  • 3 months old MBP & hard drive crashes - Does Apple really cares????

3 months old MBP hard drive simply crash and died on me, when sent to Apple centre the lady only concern is why didn't I purchase a apple care protection plan. Telling me other failures may result in costly replacement of parts and long lead time after warranty period. It seems to me Apple really cares is to make money and more of it.
I have been using PCs all my life, when the whole world was trying to stop me from getting a MAC. I went ahead believing that Apple have taken steps to improve their product. All my previous laptops works perfertly fine for at least 3 years. My reasoning is MBP cannot be such a lousy product that cannot last that long. Or is Apple confirming the truth that their MACs will not last their users anything more than 1 year thus encouraging users to buy additonal warranty.
The question is "Is Apple product so unreliable that we have to buy additional protection plan from day 1"
I hope some one can give me some answers, it is not about the money but the data that stores inside that has become too damaging for my business.

"Is Apple product so unreliable that we have to buy additional protection plan from day 1"
By no means. Don't take some salesperson's attempt to push AppleCare on you as any indication other than her personal opinion. Sometimes things break. It's unfortunate, but it happens. If things didn't fail, we wouldn't need warranties at all. And with electronic devices it's more likely to happen early in their life than it would be later. I might point out that Apple buys hard drives from the same companies that every other computer manufacturer does, so the hard drives have exactly the same chance of failure in a Mac as they would have in any other computer. And you have a one-year warranty on your computer so having the extended warranty at this point is irrelevant.
s Apple confirming the truth that their MACs will not last their users anything more than 1 year thus encouraging users to buy additonal warranty.
No more than any other company that sells an extended warranty for their product is saying that. If you want to purchase an extended warranty, it's up to you. The majority of computer owners, for almost any brand, never have need for a warranty at all, much less an extended warranty. But out-of-warranty repairs can be expensive enough - and again, this is true of any computer, particularly laptop computers where the components tend to be more expensive - that many people opt for extended warranties to ensure that for the duration of the extended warranty there will be no unexpected failures and consequent costs. It's like buying fire insurance for your house; the likelihood that your house will catch fire is small, but the cost involved if you don't have insurance is so great that I'd wager you do indeed have fire insurance if you own a house.
it is not about the money but the data that stores inside that has become too damaging for my business.
That's why you make backups. Any hard drive can fail. Or your laptop might get lost or stolen which would of course not be Apple's fault nor the fault of any of their component suppliers.

  • Creative Cloud - Does Adobe REALLY Care About Customers?

I hope the staff at Adobe are reading these forum posts.
    First question: the following quote
As far as the future of CS applications, in his Adobe MAX keynote, David Wadhwani said, 'We have no plans' to continue perpetual licenses. We are not ruling that out in the future.
Just exactly what is meant by this statement? Is Adobe already looking for a back door if the Create Cloud doesn't pan out? I really would like to know what this means. It sounds ominous and dubious and it sends mixed messages.
As far as the Creative Cloud model goes, is this really a benefit to your customers? I can see it might make Adobe a lot of money (if you don't lose a vast majority of your customer base) but how does it really benefit your customers? Your loyal customers? The customers that made you the rich company that you are today.
Speaking for myself, I do not use all the programs that will be available in the cloud on a regular basis. During the summer when I don't have classes, I don't use some programs at all. But I have to keep paying whether I use them or not. If I stop paying, I will lose access to my software. How is that a good thing for me?  For the majority of your customers? You think because we pay a monthly fee that most people won't equate that we are having to fork over more than $300 a year? In some cases over $600 a year. And it never stops. How is that good for the majority of your customers?
Do I really need to have the latest software constantly? No, I don't. But you are now forcing the issue whether I want it or not. Forcing your customer to do something does not seem like you really care about me.  About us.
What about my students? We have hundreds of students that go through our Adobe software classes each semester. Every student told me they would not go with the Cloud, either because they don't have the money or they were going to protest Adobe's "money grabbing scheme" (one student's actual quote). The students sure don't think Adobe cares about them. If the students stop taking the classes because of the software access, then we start cutting sections. Does Adobe care about that? I'm sure no, but think about those hundreds of students each semester that will no longer be learning to use Adobe software.
Adobe is putting a stranglehold on its customers and the customers are going to say  enough is enough.  Perhaps new software (open source?) will emerge to take the place of Adobe. Perhaps people using InDesign will go back to QuarkXPress. Perhaps enough of these former Adobe customers will force Adobe to check their hubris and greed at the door. But maybe not. The world will move on, one way or another.
One thing I am supremely sure about is Adobe has got it really, really wrong on the Creative Cloud strategy.
BTW, you might want to read the following link entitled Adobe Creative Cloud:  Lopsided Legal Agreement. It is not pretty:

Nice sentiments, could not agree more.

I hope this occurs across the globe with students ("potential" future Adobe customers) whom may be hindered in their monetary abilities but not in seeing the truth towards what it being placed upon them by Adobe concerning the Cloud mirage. This is a great opportunity for educators to truly educate their students about Adobe.

At this point you have no choice but to update the or delete them and reinstall them since you wont be able to use them until they update - or come out of the "waiting" loop.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

I have Mac mini and Macbook Pro 13". Bouth with HD3000. And I can't work at all. With Snow Lepard I had no problems. It's tiny problem in code. And such pain for lots of users!

If you have a problem with Adobe products, voice your issues with them.

You'll have to get a new one from your carrier. I believe the shipping instructions for mail in service explicitly tell you to take it out as you will most likely not receive the same phone back. Apple doesn't repair most phones, they replace them.

  • What are phantom materials and assembly... how are they taken care during M

    Hello Gurus
what are phantom materials and phantom assembly... how are they taken care during MRP run

    Hi
Phantom assembly is the logical assemble. You have to define special procurement type in mateiral master as 50 to make the item as phantom.
When you make the item as phantom when running mrp BOM will explode for the phantom <b>ONLY child materials requirements will be generated</b>.For phantom assembly planned order will not be generated.
A phantom assembly is a logical grouping of materials. A phantom assembly is usually created within engineering, in order to describe a number of components easily and manage them as a whole. The components in a phantom assembly are placed immediately into the superior assembly. As opposed to this, components in an assembly are first assembled to produce the header material. After this the header material is placed into the superior assembly.
Example: The phantom assembly "set of wheels" contains the components "front wheel" and "rear wheel". The front and rear wheels are placed immediately into the "bicycle" assembly. The "light" assembly contains the materials "bulb" and "reflector". The light components are first assembled and then the light is attached to the bicycle.

  • Just about had it with Apple - they really don't care!

I’ve got to say that I’m just about finished with Apple! For nearly two weeks now it has been virtually impossible for me to download apps onto my iPad 2 or iPhone 4S. The apps start downloading, get part way then stop and start downloading again. Eventually I get a message saying the app cannot be downloaded at the moment. On the very rare occasion (only 2 apps ou tof an attempted 12) when I can get an app to install, and iTunes tries to download it onto my computer, the same happens and I get an err 8008. I tried raising a support ticket with Apple, only for some support guy to not bother reading my message properly and ignore the fact that this is happening on 3 differen tdevices. I have spent over £1,200 pounds at the Apple store in less than amonth. The iPad and iPhone are being returned this week for a full refund – I’m getting Android devices! Apple don’t care as long as they’re getting the cash!

A sales and marketing professor once said something very accurate about Apple - "Apple's innovation lies not within its technology, but the presentation and simplicity of its technology"
Im sorry to burst your bubble, but Apple is in no way a revolutionary brand as far as technology goes. The technology they use has been around for years in PCs. The LG Prada beat the Iphone as far as touch screen phones go.
But Apple is a marketing genius because of the presentation of their product, and the simplicity of it

  • Verizon has failed me again.  How I am not surprised.  Beginning to think they really don't even care any more.

ordered phone on 9/18 6 plus gold 128g.  suppose to ship 10/28. then on 10/17 order was cancelled by them for reasons they cant explain. So re order phone on 10/25 shipped date of 11/14 and of course nothing again.  For all I know they cancelled it again.  I don't know what has happend to Verizon but this is just unacceptable and not what I expected from them.  But at least I know what i get now which most likely will be leaving for a company that maybe gives a ****.  Thanks a lot Verizon.

Problem here is you admit you cannot afford the service.
And you want to blame Verizon for losing a job because you have no cell phone.
If your job depends on that phone I would pay it on time every time if you need a job to pay your bill.
No other service is going to treat you any different. And if you cannot afford Verizon's monthly invoice how are you going to afford new devices, activation fees, possible security deposits on any other cellular carrier? You can't.
Also if you made an arraignment to pay and then decide you cannot do so, why should Verizon extend you service or credit, or why is it you want to use the service and data and not pay for it as agreed.
Get a prepay phone. Its evident the cost is too high for you to afford on post pay.
    Good Luck

  • Does Verizon really care about the windows phones??

I recently bought the Nokia 928 and as a "tech-impaired" person I am really happy with it. This is my second smart phone and I find it much easier to navigate than my Motorola Droid 3.   My co-worker (who is similarly impaired!) wanted to update to her first smart phone and had visited her local Verizon store to browse the various phones.  All that was EVER mentioned to her or shown were various Razrs, the Samsung Galaxies, and of course I-phones.  She saw the 928 demo phone there but it was never even offered as a choice so she didn't ask about it.  When she saw my phone she asked my thoughts, and asked to "play" with it.  I showed her some of the things she could do that I have found to be not difficult.  Bottom line she decided she liked the ease of operation, knew she did NOT need Suri and thought the Samsung Galaxy S 4 had way too many features for what she would ever need. She went back to the store and they did not even have a 928 in stock.  They did order her one, but she said that I knew way more about what the phone could do than anyone there.  I told her to ask about the 25 dollar gift certificate available through the end of June that could be used for Microsoft apps, they knew NOTHING about that either.  When I bought my phone I asked the store rep who was helping me (in a different town) and she was also unaware of it; but at least she found out and helped me set up a Microsoft account and got the certificate onto my phone.  She laughed and admitted she really knew very little about the Windows phone set up.  It really does seem that Verizon just doesn't care much about this platform and does not give their customers this choice since they virtually ignore that it even exists.

Thats why I normally do not get involved with writing on message boards, especially corporate boards, too many company employees write comments like that on behalf of their office…and yes, cellular service and home communications services are a little more that a “soda” and yes, I do expect loyalty to be a two way street….end of thread, unsubscribed from this farce….

  • IPhone 4s WiFi not turning on, repair shop says they won't fix it (they've done it 4 times now), bought the iPhone second hand and the apple website says the serial is invalid.. What do I do?

First off, I've a 16gb unlocked white iPhone 4s. The discussion title kind of explains the entire situation. I can't get on to apple to get it repaired, because it says the serial code is a replacement and invalid - I bought the phone from DoneDeal.ie (an Irish Craigslist/eBay basically) and the guy I bought it from gave me the box with everything in it, phone, phone charger, warranty, apple care, everything. But then I looked closer and realised the apple care document was faked, and the warranty was also fake. I checked online with my IMEI code and the website said the warranty was well up, and that the phone was a replacement.
I was told the phone was brand new and that it was literally just out of the box but obviously that was a lie.. Anyway, approximately 3/4 months later, the WiFi broke - When I went in to to turn the wifi on in the settings menu, the wifi was greyed out and didn't have an option to be turned on. I've since got the wifi repaired for the 5th time as it constantly goes back to the greyed out option every month or so. The repair shop (not sure if it was apple official or anything, if I had to guess, I'd say it wasn't) said they could either give us back our money or repair it one last time but it's gone again and that's kinda the last straw, they said it was a generic problem they'd found on all iPhone 4s's and that basically, I'd just have to deal with it as apple are not very helpful with replacing these phones but obviously I'd like to give them a chance to prove that wrong though.
Anyway, seeing as I can't contact apple through the customer support section, any chance someone from apple can give me some feedback as to what my options are on this discussion?
I don't even need a replacement phone (although that would be ideal) but I definitetly need a repair that's going to work for more than a month..
Thanks to anyone who can help, but especially to anyone from apple!

If the repair shop was not apple certified repair shop then Apple will not replace/ or touch that device with a ten foot pole sadly. I'd follow Rudegar's advise and try anthoer repair shop as sadly it sounds like you got jipped by the original owner. Always verify your infomation through the company before you hand over the money!

    1) Jive software is stupid, you are correct.
    2) Yep, known major problem yet to be fixed.....
    3) I think you're missing a link, isn't there a "start new discussion" crap link or something?  I know, this Jived up interface is designed in such a way that most people never notice at least one "feature", it seems.
4 - They didn't do that?? No, they had to of done that (I think). I think if you can't find something that old, it's probably just the search sucking.
New definition of Jive at dictionary.com:
    -noun
    1) An amateur developer, particularly one who develops web forums in IT. ex. Jives are cheap to hire, but will negatively affect your bottom line unless you have exceptionally dishonest salespeople.
    -verb
    1) To screw over. ex. Wow, you really jived that company up this time!
    -adjective
    1) Extremely slow, to such an extreme as to render unusable. ex. These forums are so jive, most of us are going to have to find an alternative now.
    2) Deceiving or misleading; dishonest. ex. The jive salesman sold another one of his useless products to an unsuspecting customer.
    3) Useless or not worth bothering with. ex. This software is too jive to purchase.
    4) Severely wrong morally; excessively punishing. ex. That's jived up man. That's just jived up.

  • Label bounds bigger than they really are

I have a question regarding the calculation of the bounds of labels and how they are used to take up space in a parent.
In my example, i have an application where the top element is a border pane. In the left part of the borderpane i have a VBox with a specified maxWidth (in this case, 250). The last element of the VBox is another VBox to display a label (a headline) and a GridPane. In this GridPane i have several other labels. Consider this picture:
    pic1
This is how it should look like (i enabled gridLinesVisible for sake of demonstration).
When i use a Text instead of a label in the right column, i get this:
    pic2
Since the Text in the second row exceeds the maxWidth of the top VBox but cannot be made smaller, the VBox grows in width. Everything ok here.
But when i use a label, i expect the label to respect the maxWidth of the top VBox. Altough it seems that it does this, see the result:
    pic3
The label cuts the text at the correct place and the grid column is not larger than the needed space, but still the VBox width grew.
Is this a bug or am i doing something wrong? When i set the ColumnConstraints of the GridPane to a value, i get the result of the first picture. But this workaround isn't practicable since it's a hazzle to find out the right amount of pixels and what i really want is the label to fill the remaining space it has available from the top VBox.

  • Does Verizon Wireless really care about its customers?

I tried to purchase online the free Ellipsis tablet on Black Friday with the 2 year agreement.  The website directed me through the process and then told me I had to change my current plan.  I didn't want to change my plan. So I backed out of the process to think about it.  But after talking to some Verizon agents, I find out that I didn't have to change my plan.  Their website, in essence, lied to me by telling me I had to change it and directing me to the new plans page.  Now, they will not honor the contract I tried to initiate Friday night.  I tried talking to customer service about it and every agent I talked to was polite but they said there was nothing they could do.  The last one I talked to took my complaint to his supervisor.  She was willing to knock an extra $50 dollars off the current $150 sale price but she was not willing to revert back to finish the contract that the website told me I couldn't have without changing my plan.
As a result of that, I have cancelled my hotspot and have no intention of ever buying another phone or accessory from Verizon Wireless.  I have been a long term customer and I really didn't want it to come to this.

    EvanO,
I appreciate your response but I have talked on the phone with Customer
Support numerous times and neither they or I am willing to budge so
there is no solution that I can see.  As I explained to them, they will
lose far more than the cost of the tablet by me leaving, but that
doesn't matter to them.  I was informed (after Black Friday, of course)
that I didn't need to change my plan to get the deal on the Ellipsis 7.
But, the website told me I did need to change it.  No one I talked to in
Customer support disputed that either.  In fact, it was a customer rep
that informed me that I did not need to change plans and should have
been able to get the tablet as a stand alone contract.  The website,
however, did not make that clear to me nor available to me.  When I
confronted customer support about it, all I get is a bunch of apologies
and 50 dollars off the tablet if I want to buy it.  I tried as nicely as
I could to tell them that I wanted the tablet at the Black Friday price
because /I tried to get it on Black Friday/ and the website said I had
to change plans, when in fact I didn't.  In my mind, that is false
advertising and worthy of a report to the Better Business Bureau, which
I thought about but decided its not worth the hassle.  I tried
explaining this whole situation to customer support three different
times (you are number 4), and they feel it is more important to lose my
business (which is more than the cost of that tablet every month) than
to find a way to complete a contract that I tried to initiate on the
    appropriate day.
I have cancelled my hotspot already, two phones that are eligible for
upgrade (but that ain't happening!!), and a third one that will be
contract complete in 3 or four months.  When that one is done, I will be
completely closing out my business with Verizon Wireless.  VZW isn't the
only game in town.  I hate the thought of leaving but I refuse to just
    sit back and do nothing.
All of this has shown me how important long time (10+ years) loyalty
pays off and how much we customers really don't matter to VZW.
If you can talk someone into changing their mind, great, let me know.  I
am not budging on this, and for all the run around and neglect I have
gotten over the past couple weeks all I have been offered is a truck
load of "I'm sorry this happened!" and $50 dollars off.  I believe the
representatives I have been in contact with have been truly apologetic,
but the corporation isn't.  And I am not going to bow at its feet.  The
ball is in their court. They feel it is more important to lose $300 or
more per month in my bill than to complete the contract I tried to
initiate on Black Friday (for a $250 tablet). So be it.  If they want my
business, they know what they can do to keep it.
    Thank you for your time.
