Repair of equipment

We have the following scenario.
Some equipment or component of equipment, which are defined as equipment master in PM module are to be sent out for repair.
What should be the procedure adopted?
What we are planning is to create a material master for this item to be sent out and upload the stock with 561 movement.
Is it the correct way of doing or can we get stock from PM module directly.
We need to have a print of material document for sending the material outfrom the company
However there is no excise involved in our company
CAn anybody explain the correct procedure to be followed?

Follow below procedure;
1. MM01 - Create Equipment as a Material for e.g. "M1"(Valuated OR Non-valuated, depends on requirement)
2. MIGO - Goods Receipt > Others (Using Movement Type "202" i.e. Receipt from Material "M1" against Cost Center, do not use 561)
3. ME21N - Create Subcontracting PO for Material "M1", use Item categroy "L" in PO, use component as "M1" only
4. MIGO/MB1B - Transfer Posting of Material "M1" to Vendor using Movement Type "541" (Activate Print settings for this Material Doc and take print from MB90)
5. MB90 - Print Transfer Posting Material Doc
6. MIGO - Goods Receipt against Subcontracting PO through Movement Type "101' (Here Stock of M1 will get consumed through "543" from vendor stock and get received through "101" in unrestricted stock)
7. MIRO - Invoice Verification for Servcie charges

  • Repair of Equipment through External Vendor

    Hi,
I have a proble. When we want to repair some Equipment throug External Vendor then that Equipment should go outside the plant and again retuns back to plant.
Please suggest what is the standard SAP process for that, how can I track the movements of the Equipment, going outside and coming inside the plant after repair.
I checked the PM04 order type for refurbishment. But I don't want to add the cost in the Capital value of the Equipment. Further PM04 order type is for Material, I want to do it for Equipment, again how can I track the movement from plant to Vendor location and vice versa.
    Please suggest....
    Thanks in advance,
    Satadal

    Dear Satadal,
Can you try to send the equipment with movement type 122 for return delivery.
Receive it thru movement type 123 Subsequent Delivery with reference to same
    document in MIGO.

  • Repair part - equipment

    Hello Guys,
I have a scenario to replace the current equipment which was installed with a new one issuing from inventory as it was broken.. So I write the work order for the broken euipment and make reservations to replace the new one from inventory.
Now my question is, how does the inventory will have the equipment to issue it as it has only material on it. But I can make reservation only for the material and not for the equipment ? I really want to replace the entire equipment .
Does inventory will have the equipments to issue it ? I think it has material with serial numbers. This confuse me the difference of material master and equipment master.
My undertsanding is, if we procure 10 motors, we will maintain one material master as a motor and will have the qty of 10. when it comes to store room, it has the cost of 10 pieces of motor. and when it gets installed in the plant, each motor will have the seperate equipment number and serial number. Is this correct ? if yes, then inventory will not have any equipments on it and just  a material. In this case how do I issue a equipment from inventory ?
    Any inputs ?
    Mahee

    Mahee,
You basically issue the material to the order.
If the material is not a serialized material with equipment creation, then you will have to manually create a piece of equipment (You could automate this as well through proper design) for this particular combination of material and serial number. The issues that arise in most scenarios like this is duplication of master data if refurbishment is also in picture.Proper Business process or automation will have to be developed and put in place to avoid the same.

  • Beginning Balance of Accumulated Repair Cost and  Budget Control

    Hi All,
My client has two requirements which I have problems working on in SAP.
    1. How do we put the beginning balance of accumulated repair cost of each equipment? Example Equipment A had $ 40, 000 worth of repairs prior to the company's use of SAP, and this balance becomes the initial balance during repair cost reporting (thus if the first work order issued for that equipment in the SAP system costs $5,000, accumulated cost in cost analysis shatll be $45, 000 alread) .
    2. How do we implement budget control in Plant Maintenance, such that a work order that is over budget cannot be released? or needs to be approved by another more superior user before release?
Thanks, answers would be of great help.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Andrew,
I suspect the only way to do this without Asset Accounting is to create a bespoke ABAP report. You would also need a customer table to hold the repair cost/equipment data. Alternatively, if you have a cost object per equipment (say cost centre) then you could add this value to the cost centre. Either way I would discuss the issue with you finance team first.
In terms of budgetting; this can be done 3 ways:
    - Investment programs (IM)
    - Projects and WBS (PS)
    - Individual maintenance orders (PM)
You can set threshold parameters which determine if the order can be released..

  • What is the best practice for External Repairing

    Hi Experts,
When i go through the thread search I found there are so many way to repair a equipment exteranlly. But could we please tell me which is the best one(subcontracting/through refurbishment order).

I have a question recently that sounds something like yours.  Did some research and here is what i gathers.
You have to look at what is need.  Do you want to monitor the status and location of the faulty equipment out of your company?  If all you need is to track the repair cost, you can do it directly from the original maintenance order.  just create a PR, convert to PO.  Receive the service and its done.  This is pretty simple process to begin with.
If you want to monitor the equipment out of your company then you can do it the refurbishment (subcontracting) way.  In this method, you treat the refurbishment work like a subcontracting job where you buy the repair service while providing the faulty equipment as material.  If you are doing this, there are some pre-req:
    1. ideally your material should have split valuation to reflect the different valuation at different condition.
    2. Your material is serialized.
    3. i am no MM expert but if your material need to be marked as sub-con material (if there is any MM expert here, pls help to explain this).
    4. you use a normal work order and not a refurbishment order.
    The process would be:
    1. Create a normal work order with external activity (of type PM02).  PR will be created.
    2. Create PO from the PR.
    3. GI the faulty part to the vendor against the PO.
    4. GR the refurbished part.
    5. Close the order (the usual TECO, settlement + Biz close).
With this subcontracting method, you can monitor the faulty eq. status via the subcon monitor (Tcode ADSUBCON).
The reason why you don't use a refurbishment order is with a refurbishment order, you GI the faulty parts to the refurbishment order.  You can't monitor the status via ADSUBCON.
There are also a simpler way to go around this.  You can use a refurbishment order.  Fellow forumer Pete suggest that we can update user status of the equipment master.  Pick up an un-use field to enter the vendor who is repairing.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi
One way to cater your scenario would be:
Maintaining User Status via Status Management functionality to keep a track for your Equipments.
Processing Maintenance Order including External Services as a procurement element.

    suddenly it´s stopped working.
I took the Macbook to Apple technical support in Chile (MacOnline) and the support people reviewed the equipment and the diagnosis was that the motherboard is faulted, the cost of repairing the equipment is the same as buying a new computer which does not have make sense.

  • EOS 70D display screen not working because of humidity - Canon cutomer service totally unhelpful

    Hi!
I have purchased an EOS 70D last October. Everything was working perfectly until I took it to the Caribbean, where on the second day the display screen stopped working. I could still take photos, but nothing was shown on the screen. I currently live in Canada. I took the camera to the store, where they told me that I have to send the camera (that still has warranty on it) at my own cost to the official repair centre. After a week, i got a letter from them, saying the following:
"We have received your equipment for evaluation and repair. Upon further examination it was determined that we are unable to repair your equipment therefore
Canon has suggested a replacement product to you in exchange for your original unit at the cost detailed below. Please respond to this estimate promptly to
    avoid having your equipment returned.
We will replace your equipment with a EOS 70D. The new serial number is not yet available.
Upon inspection, technician found unit is beyond repair due to moisture damage. Estimate has been adjusted to reflect replacement suggestion."
I am furious. They are offering me to buy a new camera for the same price. I called customer service and asked them to explain the letter. They said they will send me photos of the inside of the camera, where they have found mositure. I asked them to re-check it, as I didn't misuse it, I didn't drop it in the water, or anything of that kind. They said the camera must have been used in a very humid/or very cold place. Can they be serious? Is that really my fault? I mean, I bought the camera to be able to take pictures anywhere I go. I didn't do anything extra to it or with it. I will take this as far as I can, I just don't find this a normal response. Any suggestions??? Anyone had the same problem before?

Every post ought to have a learning opportunity so I am attaching a list compiled by a Canon technical advisor addressing the problem of handling photographic equipment in hot weather.
Hot Weather Photo Equipment Handling Tips
Compiled by Chuck Westfall, Technical Advisor/Canon U.S.A., Inc.
    1.) Avoid Condensation:
This is a biggie. If temperature and humidity differentials are high enough, condensation may occur when moving photo equipment from a relatively cool environment such as an air-conditioned vehicle, to a warmer one. When condensation forms inside a lens, for instance, internal elements can fog up, preventing clear images. When condensation gets bad enough inside a camera body, it can cause short circuits resulting in unexpected shutdowns. Worse yet, when equipment temperatures finally equalize to the warmer environment, water droplets on glass surfaces inside a lens may dry out and leave spots, mildew or fungus that can’t be cleaned by the photographer.
Similarly, when condensation dries up inside a camera, fungus, mildew, rust or corrosion may be left behind on printed circuit boards, viewfinder eyepieces, shutter curtains, or other internal components. If any of this happens, the equipment may be permanently damaged.
Incidentally, no matter how good it is, ‘weather sealing’ cannot prevent condensation, nor was it ever intended to do so. Damage caused by condensation is considered a user error, and it will void warranty coverage. One of the best methods to avoid condensation is to allow photo equipment to warm up gradually before exposing it to a hot environment. If this is not practical, consider placing the equipment in an airtight, resealable plastic bag with silica gel packets inside before exposing it to heat. (Don’t forget to squeeze as much air as possible out of the bag before you seal it, otherwise this technique may not work.) Using this method, the condensation will form on the bag instead of the equipment. Once the condensation on the bag has dried out, it should be safe to remove the equipment and start using it.
On a related matter, in hot and humid conditions, perspiration may cause condensation to form on your camera’s viewfinder eyepiece. Some camera manufacturers including Canon offer anti-fog eyepieces to prevent condensation from forming.
2.)  What To Do When Condensation Has Occurred:
Use a soft, dry clean cloth to remove moisture from exterior surfaces. If possible, place the equipment in a dry, well-ventilated area to prevent further condensation from occurring.
3.)  Cover Equipment When Not In Use:
If you must leave your camera equipment exposed to high heat and/or humidity conditions for long periods of time, consider covering it with a dry white towel when it’s not in use. Even when condensation is not an issue, heat absorption is another big concern for professional cameras and lenses, and especially digital SLRs. Cameras are designed to operate within a specific range of temperature and humidity conditions. For instance, the EOS-1D Mark IV professional camera has a high-end temperature rating of 45C/113F and a humidity rating of 85% or less. Since most camera bodies are black, internal temperatures can exceed this limit even when the ambient temperature is below it.
4.)  Avoid or Limit the Use of Camera Settings that Generate Heat:
Heat build-up caused by ambient temperatures is one problem, but the other side of the coin is heat build-up caused by the camera itself. This has become more of an issue recently with professional digital SLRs due to the incorporation of new features such as Live View and HD video recording. These features generate heat from several camera components including battery packs, image sensors and LCD screens. If you plan on using Live View or recording video outdoors in high-temperature environments with your digital SLR, there are a couple of things you can do to minimize heat build-up inside the camera:
Limit the use of Live View for still shots. This will minimize heat build-up from the image sensor and LCD screen.
Use an external monitor when recording video. This will shut off the camera’s LCD screen.
Use an AC Adapter Kit. This will reduce heat build-up by eliminating battery packs.
Set the camera’s Auto Power Off setting to a reasonably short interval. Let the camera help to minimize heat build-up by allowing it to shut down automatically after a minute or two of inactivity. This will also conserve battery power.
5.)  Storing Equipment in Hot Weather:
In high temperature environments with ambient humidity over 80%, use silica gel packets in your gadget bag or equipment case to absorb excessive moisture and protect your camera gear. Silica gel packets can be purchased in quantity from professional camera dealers and chemical supply houses, and are available in clear or moisture-indicating varieties. For long-term storage, consider storing camera equipment in Tupperware or similar sealable plastic containers with silica gel packets to absorb moisture and prevent fungus and mildew. In severely humid environments, even silica gel packets may be insufficient; so-called “camera dry cabinets” from manufacturers such as Toyo Living are available for such conditions.  No matter what kind of storage container you use, ideally the humidity level should be less than 60% for maximum protection. Relatively inexpensive hygrometers of the type used for cigar thermidors are available to monitor humidity levels inside the containers.  Remember to test hygrometers at least once a year, and recalibrate them if necessary.
6.)  Store Battery Packs Separately and Keep Equipment Clean:
To prevent corrosion of your camera’s electrical contacts, remove battery packs prior to long-term storage. Also, as a matter of good housekeeping, clean cameras and lenses regularly and thoroughly. This is especially important in hot and humid weather, or after your camera equipment has been exposed to rain or condensation, to prevent mildew and fungus from forming.

  • FYI don't be afraid

Just a FYI, There are many ipods that are now off warranty or have damage and are off warranty because of dents or heavy scratches. To those I write, hang in there. There are so many things that can be done by you to repair your own nano if you have any manual dexterity whatsoever. If you do a search on ebay you can find a factory replacement of the front faceplate and rear backplate plus the two tools required for replacement for less then 20 dollars, these are factory replacments and even have the apple logo etched. You can buy a high cap battery for less then 15 dollars (just bought one for 9 dollars) they are 400 mah I have done this for now 3 Ipods and they are awesome (I got two from other sources for like 39 dollars and they are the same battery). You can get a new screen for around 10 dollars and for 15 I found and used one that has a high quality screen protector already installed. You can buy a new click wheel and flex cable for 15 dollars and the faceplate to the click wheel for only 10 if it is messed up.
I live in a part of Mexico that has no close repair location and we have had to make due on our own. There are several of us that have Nanos and videos and I have fallen into the repair guy. Hey for a sea food din I can be bought...(no big deal here, really cheap). Most of us are willing to repair our equipment and heck with the warranty. It is to hard to send it in anyway. When we have realitives come down to visit or friends we have them bring down parts that we get off ebay. I just got a stock of about 5 of everything mentioned above. This afternoon replaced a front faceplate battery and back for a person that refueses to use a case, it took only around 30 minutes and cost all of 30 dollars (not counting the dinner which will be around 10). it looks like new.
Not saying all this for people to not use their warranty. Do so by all means, but if it is out of warranty or Apple will not service it hey have a go. And if you are not a dexterious person, you probably know someone that loves to dabble. It is really not very hard and there are so many sites on the web with instructions and also most if not all the parts come with the tools you need and instructions. Here are two sites that offer tutorials and also a take apart guide. http://www.ipodmods.com/guides/Nano/nanodisassemblyguide.htm

P.s. if you have to you can find mainboards for under 100 dollars. I have only seen a few. If it comes to that you might want to think about a refurbished model. for like 99 dollars you can get one with a new bat and scratch free. I just bought one for 75 dollars a 4 gig just in case or my t gig might become reborn..... you never know. Any questions feel free to write me.

I can feel your guys joy when you answered a question.
I also wish I can response to some tough questions so that I can have happy time too. Right now, I just try to post as many questions as I think I need. This way, I can push Myself to like Java everyday. (I did love java very much, but was lazy sometimes.)

Customer Service (CS) draws on functionality from different SAP application components, in particular Plant Maintenance (PM) and Sales and Distribution (SD). For example, CS involves the planning and processing of external services, such as contracts for the maintenance and repair of equipment that a customer has either bought or rented. Maintenance planning and servicing is managed in PM; in SD you can create and maintain the relevant service contracts. Contract-related charges that are incurred in PM are passed on in the form of requests for billing in SD.
In Returns and Repairs Processing, you will find a diagram showing the typical events in the day-to-day world of customer service. It also illustrates the interplay within Customer Service of SD and PM functions.
In the following sections, you will find information on the Customer Service functions in Sales and Distribution.

  • Service Order Costing

    Hello,
I am not able to obtain the costing in service order.
Can any one tell me what are the settings i have to perform for
    the same.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Hi,
A service order is a short-term agreement between service provider and service recipient, in which one-time services are ordered by the service recipient and resource-related billing performed upon completion. Such an order could be, for example, to maintain or repair some equipment, making it necessary to send a technician along with spare parts. These services are usually billed.
In Costs for Intangible Goods and Services, general cost objects and internal orders with revenue can be used as cost objects. A large number of key figures are available in Costs for Intangible Goods and Services.
For the detailed information on the key figures in costs for the services, please refer the link below:

  • Siebel BI Publisher Reports - Parent Child Combine

    Hi,

  • How to get a INTERMITTENT Display failure fixed?

I have a user that has a 15" Mac Book Pro just over 90 days old. I have looked at the system and the display will intermittently come up BLANK when it wakes up. If you open the display it will light up all bright but there will be no image. If you open and close the lid an inch or two back and forth it will INTERMITTENTLY bring up the image on the display. SOMETIMES if you close the display all the way and then re-open it, the display will work. I called the Apple Support line, but of course it is outside of 90 days so they want to CHARGE my credit card to trouble shoot the thing. I booted the device from the original DVD that shipped with the system and it has the same problem. I have even take pictures of it. I had the user of the system take it to the local "genius" bar. They would not help the user because the problem was intermittent. So how do I get an Apple Product fixed when Apple won't even look at it unless I pay them to troubleshoot it over the phone?
This is NUTS! I started supporting Apple products more than 15 years ago. I've never had such a headache trying to get a simple problem fixed. I'm part of a government research agency that does not hand out credit cards for diagnosing silliness. How can I communicate the problem to Apple when they won't the only path is through the "genius" bar that if it can't see the problem it can't exist?
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks.

1.Apple is NOT charging you at this time.
They are merely getting a credit card # in case the problem is caused by something other than a warranteed item.
2.Intermittent symptoms make it difficult to diagnose problems.
Example:Take your car to a mechanic.Tell him "It did something twice, but it's not doing it now.Fix it".
If he can reproduce the problem,he may be able to effect repairs. If he can't,odds are he'll send you down the road.
3.If the "user" is the owner of the MBP,they need to use their own credit card.
If the "Government Agency" is the owner, you need to escalate the repair request up the Chain of Command to someone authorized to pay for needed repairs to equipment.
