SAP AII Rules and Activities

Hello!
I have configured the Standalone Business Scenario for SAP AII 2.1 but am stuck on an issue :
If the reader reads a pallet at location A,Packs it to stock, then at another location B the pallet is loaded and finally shipped out.For instance if by chance the pallet comes into the proximity of the reader at location A that read it previously our scenario suggests that the pallet EPC should be discarded but on implementation SAPAII read the pallet again and performed the previous set of operations.
Can anybody suggest how to solve the issue.
Thanks
Mir Junaid

Hi Junaid;
An interesting suggestion, because that is how we do it.  Our device controller is was written on OO ABAP on NetWeaver.  It does not do what you are suggesting, but it does do something that may point you in the right direction.
It does store the tags in shared memory, which could help you with filtering.  The concept of shared memory is very robust in 6.40, and could solve your problem in conjunction with a new rule.
We do it slightly differently here.  We don't use a reader to pack the device, we "pack" the document when the delivery message comes over from R/3 (on the APL2 output) with a custom rule that has an ABAP front-end to pull the data together and programmatically call the rule processor.  That allows us to decisively indicate to the system the relationship between the case and the pallet labels.  It also eliminates the problem of needing another reader to do the packing.  It kind of side-steps what might be a complete process because it leaves the correct tag application up to a human, but it works.
Then when the ALB0 message comes over, we print the tags and the document is set up for the load.  The tags then pass through the portal on the dock door and the device controller passes the data to AII.  The only problem we run into is overlap between two adjacent dock doors, but that is an issue for another thread...
Cheers,
John

  • How to handle rules and activities in AII

    Hi experts,
How to handle rules and activities in AII. Is there any transaction code for it. please give some information, it will be hepful for me

In IMG go to Conditions & Rules to configure the relevant rules.
Rules in AII represent business process you intend to RFID enable. Each rule is made up of multiple activities that defines exactly how a particular rule functions.
SAP delivers standard rules & activities for standard scenarios of Pack, Load etc. processes.
For more information on AII rules and activities refer to the performance assistant available in IMG or read more at the link below:

  • Relations between SAP AII, ONS, PML and Savant???

The EPCGlobal provides a standard EPC-Network containing the EPC-Code and infrastruture-components like the RFID-Tag and -Reader, the ONS-Server, the PML-Server and a RFID-Middleware called Savant.
On the one hand I found a couple of articles where the SAP Auto-Id Infrastructure (SAP AII) is said to be a "RFID-Middleware". On the other hand I found a lot of presentation sheets with illustrations of the SAP AII architecture where the SAP AII is connected to Savant by the device controller and to the ONS/PML Servers by SAP XI.
Can anybody inform me about the relationship between the SAP AII, the ONS/PML Servers and Savant? Is the SAP AII a substitute for Savant? Which component of the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure asks the ONS-Server for the URL to a PML Server where further information about an object which is identified by the EPC code are located? Are product information stored on a PML-Server anyway? Or are information only stored in the ERP-Backendsystem?
    Thank you for your reply.

    hi.Dirk
1)SAP AII is a "RFID-Middleware", but mostly it is a RFID Middleware for business process. It focus on business more than RFID readers. So it is not a RFID Reader manager(Device connector, or something like that)
2)Savant is a specification or a product release by EPC global. You can download the savant specification on EPC global .
    http://www.epcglobalinc.org/about/AutoID_Archive/documents/6_auto_id_savant-1_0.pdf
Savant is also a product, many company IBM, SUN make their RFID Middleware follow the EPC savant specification. And also EPC has a RFID-Middleware call savant.
Savant is design to manager RFID readers, filter RFID tag information, and log events.
3)The relation between AII and savant is they are on the diferrent layer of RFID Middleware, they should be work together.
4)ONS is another EPC RFID issue, it is design to record RFID tag data. On EPC's idea, all the data about RFID tag should be record on ONS server. I do not know if it will come true in the future.
    5) On SAP solution, Most of the data is still stored in SAP backend-system(R3,SCM,BW......), and information about RFID, e.g. RFID tag, RFID device, tag event is stored in SAP AII. And you can use BW in AII, if mass data is generated.
    6) PML is just a RFID XML.

  • Do you trust the SAP standard rule set ?

    Hello all,
I have the impression that, too often, the SAP standard ruleset has been taken for granted : upload, generate and use. Here is a post as to why not to do so. Hopefuly, this will generate a interesting discussion.
As I have previously stated in other threads, you should be very careful accepting the SAP standard rule set without reviewing it first. Before accepting it, you should ensure that your specific SAP environment has been reflected in the functions. The 2 following questions deal with this topic :
    1. what is your SAP release  ? ---> 46C is different than ECC 6.0 in terms of permissions to be included in the function permission tab. With every SAP release, new authorization objects are linked to SAP standard tcodes. Subsequently some AUTHORITY-CHECK statements have been adapted in the ABAP behind the transaction code. So, other authorizations need to provided from an implementation point of view (PFCG). And thus, from an audit perspective (GRC-CC), other settings are due when filtering users' access rights in search for who can do what in SAP.
    2. what are your customizing settings and master data settings ? --> depending on these answers you will have to (de)activate certain permissions in your functions. Eg. are authorization groups for posting periods, business areas, material types, ... being used ? If this is not required in the SAP system and if activated in SAP GRC function, then you filter down your results too hard, thereby leaving certain users out of the audit report while in reality they can actually execute the corresponding SAP functionality --> risk for false negatives !
Do not forget that the SAP standard ruleset is only an import of SU24 settings of - probably - a Walldorf system. That's the reason SAP states that the delivered rule set is a starting point.
So, the best practice is :
    a. collect SAP specific settings per connector in a separate 'questionnaire' document, preferably structured in a database
    b. reflect these answers per function per connector per action per permission by correctly (de)activating the corresponding permissions for all affected functions
You can imagine that this is a time-consuming process due to the amount of work and the slow interaction with the Java web-based GRC GUI. Therefore, it is a quite cumbersome and at times error-prone activity ...... That is, in case you would decide to implement your questionnaire answers manually. There are of course software providers on the market that can develop and maintain your functions in an off-line application and generate your rule set so that you can upload it directly in SAP GRC. In this example such software providers are particularly interesting, because your questionnaire answers are structurally stored and reflected in the functions. Any change now or in the future can be mass-reflected in all (hundreds / thousands of) corresponding permissions in the functions. Time-saving and consistent !
Is this questionnaire really necessary ? Can't I just activate all permissions in every function ? Certainly not, because that would - and here is the main problem - filter too much users out of your audit results because the filter is too stringent. This practice would lead too false negatives, something that auditors do not like.
Can't I just update all my functions based on my particular SU24 settings ? (by the way, if you don't know what SU24 settings are, than ask your role administrator. He/she should know. ) Yes, if you think they are on target, yes you can by deleting all VIRSA_CC_FUNCPRM entries from the Rules.txt export of the SAP standard rule set, re-upload, go for every function into change mode so that the new permissions are imported based on your SU24 settings. Also, very cumbersome and with the absolute condition that you SU24 are maintained excellent.
Why is that so important ? Imagine F_BKPF_GSB the auth object to check on auth groups on business areas within accounting documents. Most role administrator will leave this object on Check/Maintain in the SU24 settings. This means that the object will be imported in the role when - for example - FB01 has been added in the menu.  But the role administrator inactivates the object in the role. Still no problem, because user doesn't need it, since auth groups on business areas are not being used. However, having this SU24 will result in an activated F_BKPF_GSB permission in your GRC function. So, SAP GRC will filter down on those users who have F_BKPF_GSB, which will lead to false negatives.
Haven't you noticed that SAP has deactivated quite a lot of permissions, including F_BKPF_GSB ? Now, you see why. But they go too far at times and even incorrect. Example : go ahead and look deeper into function AP02. There, you will see for FB01 that two permissions have been activated. F_BKPF_BEK and F_BKPF_KOA.  The very basic authorizations needed to be able to post FI document are F_BKPF_BUK and F_BKPF_KOA.  That's F_BKPF_BUK .... not F_BKPF_BEK. They have made a mistake here. F_BKPF_BEK is an optional  auth object (as with F_BKPF_GSB) to check on vendor account auth groups.
Again, the message is : be very critical when looking at the SAP standard rule set. So, test thoroughly. And if your not sure, leave the job to a specialized firm.
    Success !
    Sam

    Sam and everyone,
Sam brings up some good points on the delivered ruleset.  Please keep in mind; however, that SAP has always stated that the delivered ruleset is a starting point.  This is brought up in sap note 986996     Best Practice for SAP CC Rules and Risks.  I completely agree with him that no company should just use the supplied rules without doing a full evaluation of their risk and control environment.
I'll try to address each area that Sam brings up:
    1.  Regarding the issue with differences of auth objects between versions, the SAP delivered rulset is not meant to be version specific.  We therefore provide rules with the lowest common denominator when it comes to auth object settings.
The rules were created on a 4.6c system, with the exception of transactions that only exist in higher versions.
The underlying assumption is that we want to ensure the rules do not have any false negatives.  This means that we purposely activate the fewest auth objects required in order to execute the transaction.
If new or different auth object settings come into play in the higher releases and you feel this results in false positives (conflicts that show that don't really exist), then you can adjust the rules to add these auth objects to the rules.
Again, our assumption is that the delivered ruleset should err on the side of showing too many conflicts which can be further filtered by the customer, versus excluding users that should be reported.
    2.  For the customizing settings, as per above, we strive to deliver rules that are base level rules that are applicable for everyone.  This is why we deliver only the core auth objects in our rules and not all.  A example is ME21N.
If you look at SU24 in an ECC6 system, ME21N has 4 auth objects set as check/maintain.  However, in the rules we only enable one of the object, M_BEST_BSA.  This is to prevent false negatives.
    3.  Sam is absolutely right that the delivered auth object settings for FB01 have a mistake.  The correct auth object should be F_BKPF_BUK and not F_BKPF_BEK.  This was a manual error on my part.  I've added this to a listing to correct in future versions of the rules.
    4.  Since late 2006, 4 updates have been made to the rules to correct known issues as well as expand the ruleset as needed.  See the sap notes below as well as posting Compliance Calibrator - Q2 2008 Rule Update from July 22.
    1083611 Compliance Calibrator Rule Update Q3 2007

    1035070 Compliance Calibrator Rule Update Q1 2007
1173980 Risk Analysis and Remediation Rule Update Q2 2008
    5.  SAP is constantly working to improve our rulesets as we know there are areas where the rules can be improved.  See my earlier post called Request for participants for an Access Control Rule mini-council from January 28, 2008.  A rule mini-council is in place and I welcome anyone who is interested in joining to contact me at the information provided in that post.
    6.  Finally, the document on the BPX location below has a good overview of how companies should review the rules and customize them to their control and risk environment:

  • Networks and activities attached to statistical WBS

    Hi,
I have a statistical WBS which is attached to networks, and activities. It looks like in standard SAP, the networks and activities cannot be made statistical. So the networks and activities carries actual cost (after posting). Is there a way in SAP to make this actual cost in network and activity as statistical? Or do you think that we need to settle the cost somewhere?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
    Aman

As I stated before, I also know that networks, and activities cannot be statistical. My question is what would be the solution in this case? Anyway, we've decided to make all objects as statistical WBS elements to resolve the issue. Closing the thread.

  • PI 7.1 and Oracle JDBC driver: missing com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda

    Hello,
I want to deploy the JDBC driver for Oracle databases as described in OSS 1138877 on a brand-new PI7.1 (SP06 Stack) installation. Unfortunately, I can't find com.sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda on the system, so I can't add the ojdbc14.jar file and deplay it using JSPM.
Where can I get it from?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Herwig

    hey,
The JDBC driver installation is different for PI 7.1.
The dowload/modify/deploy .sap.aii.adapter.lib.sda method was used in the earlier versions.(mentioned in the How to guides)
Look at the SAP documentation below -

This components are installed in development system, don't know if was installed manually.
The question is if this components can be downloaded and installed (deployed), or installed same files of development system, unfortunately the sda's are not in the server but i have the dvd's.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jose Agurto

  • Printer device group and a label format in SAP AII

    Hello @ all,
I try to configure a SAP OER System with SAP AII. Now I should configure the label printing with the transaktion /AIN/ASGN_PRF_FORMAT. I must take a profile name, a printer device group and a label format. The problem is now, that I can't chose a printer device group and also I don't know the label format. Where can I adjust the printer device group and which label format must be in that field?
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you.
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
SAP AII sends the label format filename as part of the Command message xml to the printer during tag commissioning.
I assume you have configured the label format filename for SAP_PRINT_PROFILE using transaction /AIN/ASGN_PRF_FORMAT - Assign Format to Printer and Profile
Now you have to assign that profile to an ID type or GTIN, etc. using the menus under Profiles for Tag Commissioning and Label Printing.
Once this configuration is done, the xml command message containing the element WriteTagData is sent to the printer RFC destination configured against the Device controller as an HTTP message.
This command message will contain the label format and  field names - value pairs as per the SAP_PRINT_PROFILE.

    Hi
Workflow automates the steps and activities in a business process according to predefined procedures and rules.
Workflow presents information and documents to the appropriate knowledge worker or agent (another entity such as a program) to make a decision or perform an activity.
Workflow tracks each and every step in the process flow and maintains an ongoing status.
Workflow also collects and reports all of the metrics associated with the execution and completion of the process.

    Regards,
    Narpal

    Hi,
javac ERROR: class file has wrong version 49.0, should be 48.0
This error means that the class file in question is being built with JDK1.5 (49), however it should be built with JDK1.4.2 (48).
In other words, as per the class the build expects a class file built with 1.4.2, but in your track JDK1.5 is configured for the build tool.
    You need to therefore :
A.) review the CBS service settings, as most likely the parameters BUILDT_TOOL_JDK_HOME and JDK_HOME_PATHS are set up improperly.
B.) plus the build variant is incorrect in the track in question.
I'll refer below to the corresponding points with the letters A and B.
Some more explanation on the error:
If you check any class file with a hex editor, you'll see at the beginning of it this:
    example: CA FE BA BE | 00 00 |00 31  ...
    JDK 1.6 = 50 (0x32 hex)
    JDK 1.5 = 49 (0x31 hex = (161)*3 + (160)*1 = 49)
    JDK 1.4 = 48 (0x30 hex)
    JDK 1.3 = 47 (0x2F hex)
    JDK 1.2 = 46 (0x2E hex)
    JDK 1.1 = 45 (0x2D hex)
On the first 4 bytes there's a magic number (CAFEBABE) which ensures this is a java class file, then on 2-2 bytes you'll see the minor and the major version (in this order). In the above example 00 00 | 00 31. This is what displayed as major.minor i.e. 49.0 what you can see in error messages. See also the attachment I've put to this thread minormajor.JPG.
More information on the class file structure:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jvms/second_edition/html/ClassFile.doc.html
    For point A)
See the guide for doublechecking the CBS parameters
    help.sap.com u2013 CBS Service Properties
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/53/75b3407e73c57fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    Further explanation to the paramters
    BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME and JDK_HOME_PATHS
    BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME = <path to highest JDK>
    JDK_HOME_PATHS = JDK1.3.1_HOME=<path of jdk131>;JDK1.4.2_HOME=<path of jdk142>;JDK1.5.0_HOME=<path of jdk150>JDK1.6.0_HOME=<path of jdk160>;default=<path of the JDK as default>
    Some simple rules with examples:
    - for BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME you simply enter the path to your JDK, e.g.: /opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142
    - for JDK_HOME_PATHS you have to follow the scheme "key=value" e.g.: JDK_1.4.2_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142
    - for BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME you always specify the highest JDK,
    - for JDK_HOME_PATHS you list the available JDKs.
    - JRE is not allowed, specify always JDK!
    For point B)
Regarding the build variant in your track: check the page 13 for the paramter com.sap.jdk.home_path_key as per the guide :
How To... Setup an NWDI Track for Composition Environment Developments
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/7014086d-3fd9-2910-80bd-be3417810c6f
    Summary:
    A. The first part of the solution is then to doublecheck the CBS service parameters. CBS service must be restarted after changes.
    B. The second part is to doublecheck the build variant in the track (see the Build Variants tab on the Track Data tab on the CMS webui  - Landscape Configurator).
    I recommend you to have
    A) BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME = <highest available JDK, I recommend here to set the path to JDK1.5>
JDK_HOME_PATHS = JDK1.4.2_HOME=<path of jdk142>;JDK1.5.0_HOME=<path of jdk150>;default=<path of the JDK as default, set it to the same path as you did for 1.4.2_HOME>
    B) set the com.sap.jdk.home_path_key in the build variant to 1.4.2_HOME, or leave it for the default. Do not forget to set this build variant explicitly for >= 7.1 tracks to JDK1.5.0_HOME
    I hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Ervin

  • RFID - SAP AII

    Hi all,
Need some infomation on SAP AII and also how to relate RFID with SAP AII and also SAP Data base,
How the data will be filtered in SAP AII?
If anyone knows regarding this let me know
    Thanks,
    -Teena.

    Hi Teena,
    <b>SAP RFID Solution Package</b>
The SAP RFID solution package provides a complete auto-ID middleware solution connecting RFID data directly from auto-ID data capture sources, such as RFID readers and device controllers, and integrates the data directly into enterprise applications . It converts raw RFID data into business process information by making the associations from key business rules, master data, and transactions to raw RFID data .
    <b>SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure</b>
Auto-ID Infrastructure is compatible with SAP R/3 4.6C or greater, and it also has adapters for SAP Warehouse Management, SAP Business Information Warehouse, SAP Supply Chain Event Management, SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization, and all SAP NetWeaver components.
Auto-ID Infrastructure is designed to synchronize EPC and RFID information into your ERP systems by providing a complete, multidimensional data model of RFID-enabled assets, including:
    <b>1.EPC number
    2.Asset location
    3.Status
    4.Last RFID read point
    5.Handling unit number
