SAP Excelsius Presentation Design

Dear Forum,
I have use SAP Excelsius Presentation Design, using my excel worksheet to make some dashboard.  BI is a new for me, before it i used Pentaho BI Designer and Pentaho BI Server. But i dont find the SAP Excelsius process stage like Pentaho.. there is a design module and server module, also Pentaho can use any kind of database system...  Can any one give me the figure what product should i used if i want to make a live BI dashboard on web browser and automatically integrated with MS SQL database.
Thanks.
Susan

Hi Susan,
Unfortunately I do not know Pentaho... So, what do you mean by "process stage"?
I know that in future versions BO Tools will be able to pick data dinamically (at the same time) from several data sources besides BI, but I did not understand if this is the main point here (getting data from BI AND SQL Server together) or some live data updating into the dashboard (maybe both ).
Perhaps I could help further if you explain a bit more...
Kind Regards,
Marcio

  • Exporting from SAP Crystal Presentation Design to PowerPoint

I have been using CrystalXcelsius Standard 4.5 with Windows XP for a couple years.  My company recently migrated to Windows 7.  I've been told the new version of Xcelsius I need to purchse is SAP Crystal Presentation Design which is supposed to be compatible with the new operating system.  I like the software as it seems to be what I need to continue creating Dashboards for my group.  However, after having difficuty exporting to PowerPoint as I have done in the past for general viewing, I've stumbled upon release notes that say though this software is compatible with Windows 7 operating system, it is not compatible with the PowerPoint software within Windows 7, and I must save the exported file in PowerPoint 2003.  However, when I open the PowerPoint document after exporting, the documement initially looks blank until I click Slideshow, then I get a "Securty Alert - Marcros and ActiveX" message that says "Macros and one or more ActiveX controls have been disabled" and I have to choose either "protect me from unknown content (recommended)" or "enable content".  I've been choosing the recommended option.  Once I do so the imported dashboard appears.  My initial question is am I performing the import correctly, and if so is there a way to get around that error message?  My management presents these dashboards to others both inside and outside the company and would prefer that the error does not keep popping up.
    Thanks much!
    Leanne

    Hi,
First of all the message you are getting is not an error its an alerts.and its quite common. this is a standard check,if you want you can bi-passions(not recommended for all applications) this alert.
Open a power point open Power Point Options ->  Trusted center -> Trust center settings ->  Select active X settings -> Select Enable all controls => Now select macro Settings and do the same.
And you can avoid alert message.
    Good Luck & keep posting.

  • SAP Crystal Presentation Design

I have recently purchased and downloaded SAP Crystal Presentation Design as this appears to be the first product that works with Windows 7 and Office 2010. However, every time I try hit the small icon to 'Send to Adobe Acrobat PDF' I get the following error message - 'Adobe Acrobat 9.4 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available'. Needless to say, Windows gives no solution to this problem!!
Has anyone else encountered this problem and, if so, did you find a solution? The only remote possibility I can think of is that I also have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro loaded on my laptop and use it frequently but I cannot believe this would create an Application clash.

Hi David - SAP Crystal Presentattion Design 2011 was released on the basis it worked with Windows 7 and Office 2010 - the Version is 6.0.0.0 and the Build is 14.0.0.760. I mentioned in my question that the only potential issue I could see was that I also had Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 installed but assumed that Presentation Design came with an integrated version of Adobe which ran independently to anything I had on my laptop. As a last resort I ran the 9 Pro repair tool and it appears to have fixed the problem and I can now view the Presentation Design output through Adobe! Bizarre, I know but I also recall reading somewhere that users had experienced some Office Application issues after installing versions of Adobe Acrobat. Anyway, thanks for your input but the problem appears to be resolved (at least for now!)

Somehow I am failing in installation of the both versions to find the difference whereas the price variation between these two are so high.
Can anyone brief me the exact difference between above two.
Again inside the TAB of any one of the above we see there are 2 versions named Departmental and Personal Edition in which Personal Edition costs too high.  Unable to know why such difference in pricing that too for personal edition.

  • Presentation Designer 2011 SP4 Setup Not Recognizing 32-Bit Microsoft Excel 2013

I have 32-bit Microsoft Office Excel (with 2013 office suite) installed.  When I try to install the SAP Crystal Presentation Design 2011 software, the setup prerequisite check is stating that I am missing Microsoft Office Excel (XP or higher) 32-bit.
How do I install Crystal Reports Presentation Designer without having to use Microsoft Excel 2003?
Does anyone know when (estimated guess) Crystal Reports Presentation Designer is scheduled to fully support 2013?

    Hi,
You have to use SAP Crystal Dashboard Design 2013 which does support MS Office 2013, but I've read that it is not great, so I would not recommend it and to use MS Office 2010 if you can.

  • Crystal Presentation Design install failure

When installing SAP Crystal Presentation Design, an error pops up that says Windows XP or higher applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc. must be pre-installed". Then it says an error has occurred and the installation stops. Anyone have a clue?

I have the same problem with Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Office 2010. I have Microsoft Office Project 2007 on same computer. Installer says you must have Office XP or Higher and then terminates.
I am not able to use the free software or evaluate the free trial when the software will not install on a pretty typical machine.
Is theer any update or news on this? A workaround or other correction?

  • SAP Presentation Design (Xcelsius) Cursor Issue

I am using the latest version of SAP Presentation Design (Version 14.1.1.1036).  This is the product formally known as Xcelsius.
I am publishing a component heavy dashboard to PowerPoint.  When viewing the PPT slide and interacting with the dashboard, the cursor will often times disappear (it highlights items when I hover but you can't see the mouse at all no matter how much you move it around).  This issue is magnified whenever I connect my laptop to an external monitor while presenting to a large group.
I have updated to the latest version of Flash and am running PowerPoint 2010.
Without a cusor, my dashboard is dead in the water.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

  • Error installing SAP Presentation Design 2011

I successfully installed Xcelsius Present 2008 trial version and then purchased a registered version of Presentation Design 2011. At the end of installation I received a message that said: "Missing installdir reg key for installiverse, required for uninstall. Key: SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Installer\aurora Value: Path".
I ran the installation setup program as administrator. When that didn't work I logged on as administrator but got the same error message. Each time it installs a folderSAP BusinessObjects in my Program Files (x86) fikder, and I have to delete this folder in order to rerun the installation.
It makes no difference whether I do a Side-by-Side Installation or Perform Simple Upgrade.
I am running Windows Ultimate 64 bit and using Office 2007. I'd appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

  • SAP Business By Design Software- A Review

SAP Business By Design Software- A Review
An Independent Enterprise Resource Planning Software Review :
SAP is one of the most recognized and trusted brands within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software industry. Having delivered SAP R/2 in 1979 and SAP R/3 in 1992, the company is one of the original vendors that defined the ERP software market. SAP was started by five IBM engineers in 1972 in exchange for 8% founders' stock. Today the German-based company retains the largest ERP market share of any software vendor; with the possible exception of Oracle depending upon how market share is calculated.
SAP Business ByDesign is the company's software as a service (SaaS) offering targeted to small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). On September 19, 2007, a one-size-fits-all, subscription-based ERP system aimed at midmarket companies was released as the first SAP ERP SaaS product, previously code named A1S. After several troubled installations and a flawed go to market strategy, SAP pulled ByDesign from the market for a system revamp and significant code refactoring.
Approximately three years later, Business ByDesign reemerged as a multi-tenant SaaS solution, complete with a new architecture, Silverlight presentation layer and PaaS tools for extensibility. As of December 2011, Business By Design was closing in on its first 1000 customer acquisitions and is available in Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Though SAP ByDesign is targeted toward SMEs with 25+ users, the solution can be used by organizations with as few as 10 users. The ideal range is 25-500 users, but the cloud scalability should facilitate more users if required. Business By Design is also finding a place as a Tier 2 ERP solution—being installed at smaller line of business or geographically dispersed locations and integrated to parent companies using the SAP Business Suite.
While Business ByDesign is the company's first back-office foray into the cloud, SAP has since also released cloud-based Line of Business applications. Sales OnDemand—an SFA application with strong social design—was released in July 2011 and is targeted at SAP ERP or Business Suite customers looking to extend their on-premise systems with add-on cloud components. Interestingly, the Line of Business applications were developed on the Business ByDesign framework, but don't integrate with Business ByDesign. Sales OnDemand only integrates with SAP ERP for back office business processes, so SAP customers seeking a complete software as a service CRM solution are limited to Business ByDesign.
By Design is offered in four enterprise software categories: customer relationship management (CRM), financials, professional services automation (PSA), and supply chain management (SCM). These solutions each include a combination of different modules, and they can be acquired as stand-alone capabilities as well. The entire ERP software suite includes the following:
    Customer relationship management (CRM)
    Accounting and financials
    Project management
    Supply chain management (SCM)
    Supplier relationship management
    Human resources (HR)/payroll
    Analytics
    Compliance management

SAP Business One GUIs (“screens” or “forms”) are the primary interface elements. They usually cover a rectangular area on the computer screen and represent certain tasks or applications running on the computer. The user may move them around the computer screen, size, stack, activate, or de-activate them.
When we discuss screens in the context of the SAP Business One System, we usually refer to their work area. You, as the developer, position interface elements within the work area to adapt a screen to a certain task. In addition to the work area, a screen consists of elements. Some elements serve for basic window handling, and some of them are specific for SAP Business One.
There are two basic kinds of screens in the SAP Business One System: primary screens (main menu/forms), and secondary screens (dialog boxes / message windows).
SAP Business One application functions always reside in one main or primary screen where the user's main activity takes place. In addition, secondary screens appear in reaction to the user's actions to supplement the main screen. On both types of screens, the user may enter data, make choices or is informed of errors / consequences of actions. There may be more than one secondary screen opened simultaneously, but only one can be worked with at a time
