Hi All,
I just want to have idea about SAP notes patches.
These patches are applied by BASIS guy but what is role of functional consultant regarding SAP HR notes.
Please provide me a clear idea about patches.

It is the reponsibility of the Functional Consultant to
1) analyse the contents of all the notes contained in the patches - service.sap.com has detailed information on every single note,
2) identify any potent impact on existing processes.
3) Several Notes have side effects, already identified by SAP, and further notes issued to correct these side effects. This information should be available for most cases in service.sap.com. Be aware and esnure all related notes are applied in the right sequence.
4) SOme notes may require manual changes to table, changes directly to each client etc, get an overview of them, and ensure you have planned time for doing this.
5) Design a detailed regression testing plan based on the impacts identified i.e if the note is touching a specific process, test it to ensure it has'nt changed - Also identify a few critical processes, that you will test anyway, whether or not they are touched by the notes/paatches
6) Carry out regression testing in all clients (except production of course - carry out some sense checks in production)
The above applies to whole sale application of patches such as Annual Legal Changes, Quarterly Hot Patch updates etc. However the general approach holds true even for applying a single OSS note.

Since the problem comes in the javascripts, I would belive the problem is on the client-side, not server side.
Does anyone know exactly what the problem is (what has Microsoft changed) ?

- I've noticed that we don't have a problem on a portal running EP 6 SP2 P3 Hf4 , after installing the hotfix on the client side. This change in functionality occurs when an event handler points directly to a Document Object Model (DOM) function [...] Change in Internet Explorer function pointer behavior causes code to not be executed when an event handler is set to directly reference a DOM function after installing MS04-038 security updates.
BTW, Note 785308 has been updated with a workaround.

Doubt in Downloading Sap notes in SNOTE Transaction

Hi Experts,
I want to download the sap note (442831) in my developement system. For that i am using the Tcode SNOTE here i used Goto-->Download Sap Note. I gave my sap note number in that window, then i executed. after few minites its saying downloaded.
After downloading i searched the notenumber in that list but its not displaying.
Why its happening? Plz guide this any otherway is there or i did any wrong things over this??

Once you download the note it will be in NEW list click on it and expand then search the same
if you want to apply the patch then implement the note and finally change the processing status to completed

The Profession Tax tables T7INP3 & T7INP4 are customizing tables in which the entries are to be modified. SAP provides the initial entries and, if there is any change in slab rates, then you would need to update these slabs manually.
Please delimit the slab code in table T7INP3 and then create a new slab code entry from the date of delimition for the new rates in table T7INP4.

Authorization Error while extracting data after applying SAP upgrade patch

Hello All,
Recently we have updated the SAP BW patch to 24 and ECC patch to 22. I have the access to perform extraction in RSA3 tcode in ECC.
However, While performing the data load in BW, the process is failing at the Infopackage step with the following error:
"You do not have authorization to extract from Datasource XXXX, Component FI-IO. Message no. R8073"
My basis guy has given the necessary acces.. but still the issue persists..
Please provide solutions ASAP... its very critical issue...

Hi,
Are you loading the data with your username? it may cause problem sometimes because you may not have the authorization object S_RO_OSOA assigned in your roles.
Try scheduling the loading job with the background user with which normally the process chains are run.
i guess this should solve your problem, if not try adding this authorization object to the corresponding role and you can run with your user name itself.
I am not sure about the auth objt , try and see.

Issue in implementing the sap note 1401975

I am trying to implement the sap note 1401975 in the 4.7 version( SAP_APPL 470, Patch level 26). to implement this note i have to create a Function Module with export parameter of TYPE SEPA_STR_DATA_MANDATE_DATA. the problem here is the structure SEPA_STR_DATA_MANDATE_DATA not available in my system and no instructions are given in the note to create this structure. i have also implemented the prerequisite notes 1305012, 1360908.

Reason and Prerequisites
As a prerequisite, you require Noter 1090321 for SEPA Direct Debit and the two SEPA credit transfer Notes 1305012 and 1360908. Check whether these notes have already been implemented (search in the ABAP Dictionary (transaction SE11) for the structures FPAYHX_MDT and FPM_SEPA and check in transaction SE37 whether the function DMEE_EXIT_SEPA_21 already exists) and implement them if necessary.
To be able to use the B2B (Business to Business) function, you also require enhancements in the SEPA third-party management (SAP Basis) that are delivered in a separate note.
Check this prerequisite notes 1090321, 1305012 and 1360908 and its corrections present in your system

MOPatch bpmig.sh Structural Changes in SAP Bundle Patches

Structural Changes in SAP Bundle Patches New!
As of June 2014, there is a change in the internal structure of the SAP Bundle Patches (SBPs) for Oracle. While this has many benefits, applying the new SBP for the first time requires special handling. For more information, see the hot news SAP Note 2011199.
When looking at note 2011199 I found due to the changed structure and to identify stand alone patches it is recommended to run the bpmig.sh script.
To avoid these problems or to detect them before actually installing this SBP, you must run the bundle patch migration script bpmig which is delivered with MOPatch 2.1.16 and later.
The script comes up with an error message:
Cannot determine SBP version from "SAP Bundle Patch 11.2.0.3.2 - 201205".
opatch / mopatch semselfs seems to function properly...

Implementing of SAP Note 657999 - Error during Bring the gateway resource

Hello all.
During SAP note 657999 Implementation, pass 10, item F, The note says to bring the gateway resource SAPGW<SID> in online status. The "SAP GATEWAY Resource" tried to stay in online, but after a few seconds, the resource showed status "failed".

OSS note and SAP Note

Dear experts
Can Anyone kindly clear me the difference between
1.OSS note and SAP Note.
2.SAP Patch and Support Packages.

OSS Note and SAP Note are the same thing.
Support Package / Support Package Stack refers to a group of corrections and/or enahcnements which include a group of OSS Notes, and changes to multiple components that SAP has tested as a group and recommends be installed together.
I think Patch may be a little more ambigous. For some, they might mean Support Package when they use the term Patch, or maybe even an OSS Note. SAP also refers to updates to some components as Patches, e.g. they release database patches, and with BW, the BW SAPGUI Addon is also sometimes referred to as the Front End Patch.

How to minimise side effects of any note / Patch Application

How can one know that what effect a note / Patch is going to have and what all transaction codes it will hit..
For example i applied one note which seems to have activated a certain schema which was earlier commented out in the system. resulting in the printing of payslip with incorrect details.
How can one minimize any side effects of any note applied in the system...kindly suggest.

The reason i ask this question on this forum is the fact that in the past few instances i have faced certain issues due to application of notes related to form 24Q (these are the oly notes we have applied)
and the issues are coming in Payroll, in payslips and certain areas which i feel should remain unaffected by the note application...
However i appreciate all he answers and also would like to urge SAP to maybe release atleast the standard Testing that should be done after a particular Note application. i do not know if this is a reasonable demand but it is always better to have it right from the horses mouth...

Problem when apply SAP Bundle Patch for 10.2.0.5

We are trying to apply SAP Bundle Patch (SBP) SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip and SAP_102052_201103_SOL64.zip using MOPatch utility. Both MOPatch and OPatch utility have been updated with the latest download from SAP. When applying patch for SAP_102052_201102, most patches went through except for one patch that requires OPatch to be version 10.2.0.5.0. The OPatch version downloaded from SAP is 10.2.0.4.9. Even the OPatch delievered together in the SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip file is 10.2.0.4.9.
Below are extract of the opatch log file for this patch:

The file I can see there is generic for ALL operating systems and the name is:
OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
it seems that the version is 10.2.0.5, not 10.2.0.4.9 as you mentioned.
I have downladed it and look at the README:
Patch summary:
README file for OPatch 10.2.0.5.0, the Oracle Interim Patching Tool.
I'm not installing it, but it seems that the version is not the same as yours.
Is this the one you have downloaded?
Have you installed it properly? => may be you are running an older one

SAP Notes for installing ERP 6.0 EHP4 on NW 7.01 on IBM i 7.1

The last time I install SAP on IBM i was about 3 years ago with ECC 6 on NW 7.00 on IBM i V5R4. Now, I have to install ERP 6.0 EHP4 on NW 7.01 on IBM i 7.1 for my new customer (only the ABAP ERP components - not CRM, SCM, SRM or Java stack). I try to first gather all important SAP notes that would be useful for me in doing the installation. By far, I identify note 1234455 (NetWeaver 7.0 EHP1/Business Suite 7 - IBM i) and 1432783 (Known Issued with IBM i 7.1). Is there any other notes I should be aware of for a successful installation?
I also need to identify the list of installation DVD that I need for this installation but, so far, I can identify DVD 51038620 (Install Master) and 51036902 (Install Export). I know I need more DVD than these two but I could not find any SAP notes that list all the DVD number I need.
Any suggestion would be very much appreciated?

What is special here ?
- Installation runs similar to your ecc6 stuff from 3 years ago - we typically replace the kernel of the kernel CD with a new patch level on the CD already.
- the big point is, that the system does NOT have EHP4 installed when you are done with SAPinst ;-(
you do have NW 7.01 and ERP6.00 => you have to start SAPEHPI immediately after that for all the components, that you require on EHP4. This is 95% of an complete upgrade => the installation is 2 . 3 times the effort of what wou would expect ...

SAP Note inconsistency

Hi,
I am trying to apply some SAP Notes in one of our BI systems. Currently we are on SP 18 of SAP_BW (release 700). The Notes that I am trying to apply are delivered in SP 19. So that part is okay.
The problem is that these Notes need some prerequisite notes to be downloaded and applied (SNOTE) which are delivered in SP 16 and SP 17. I checked the corrections delivered by the Prerequisite Note and they need to be implemented, i.e. in other words the corrections do not show up in the system even though they say that they have been delivered in the SP that we already are on.
Shouldn't the SP have modified these objects ? And this is happening not just with one Note. The version management for these objects shows the SAP version.
Does this sound wierd ? Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi Kunal,
Generally sometimes SNOTE advices to download some prerequisite notes, which were covered in current support package level. They will be downloaded but but only the main note and notes which were not covered in the current patch level are implemented, all other notes can be seen in not relevant status.
Kindly check again right correction instructions as it changes with the release. If you are above SP16 then changes will be present, I never saw anything like this before.

Oracle Parameter _FIX_CONTROL: EWA vs SAP Note Recommendation?

We have Oracle 11.2.0.2 on RedHat Linux

For FIXCONTROL '6055658:OFF' what recommendation should I take the SAP Note or EWA?

You should always check and go with the recommendation from the parameter note.

For the fixcontrol parameters, these were introduced to allow enabling and disabling of optimizer fixes . The corresponding patch therefore needs to be installed to enable you to you set the required parameter. With EWA, this report usually flags any parameter which may require further checking, (ie because a note exists that details behaviour of setting this parameter for example a performance behaviour in OLTP versus OLAP). EWA is doing this to ensure that the DBA is aware that there is some additional step, info regarding the parameter. The Colleagues above have already mentioned to run the parameter script which checks it's result against the Oracle version parameter note and flags any incorrect setting and also provides the setting that is recommended. Before you do this you should check the relevant parameter note for these recommendations.

Pls Go to service.sap.com/https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/notes ---> click on SAP note search under SAP Support portal,You will have to log in with a valid user id and password.
You can search notes by typing the SAP Note Number, download it & There will be instructions for applying notes.
