Scanner HP Officejet 6700 Scanner

The 6700 is not recognised by the computer when asking to scan (printing works fine although HP did have to log in to set up)
The scanner issue is baffling even the support at HP
Any ideas please ?

Hi again northwoodltd!
Thanks for writing me back!
I would first suggest (in order) powering off the computer and printer and unplugging the router (do not press any buttons on the router). Leave the router unplugged for one full minute.
Then, in order, plug the router back in and wait one minute, power the printer back on and then the computer.
Sometimes recycling the network will help the scanning problem you're having. Try scanning now and if you are still having the scanning issue, please run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and hopefully the tool will fix the issue. Please let me know the results from running the tool! If there is more of a serious issue the tool cannot fix, like a driver conflict, it will alert you.
Hope to hear from you again
Enjoy your Tuesday!

officejet 6700 scanning to Macbook pro - When scanning pictures they are showing black and white need them to be color.  How do I correct this?

    Hi mcaacgel,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that when scanning using your Officejet 6700 to your MacBook Pro that the scans are in black and white and not in color.
To better assist you, would you please provide additional information:
How is the printer connected (USB cable, ethernet, or wireless)?
What version of Mac OS X are you using on your MacBook Pro? whatsmyos.com
What software are you using to scan (HP Scan, Image Capture, or Apple Scan, etc)?
Is the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet?
Are you able to make a color photocopy?
    Thank you.

  • OfficeJet 6700 Line when scanning over ADF

    Hello guys,
i've got a very strange problem with our OfficeJet 6700 Scanner.
Since a few days, all scans have a vertical line on them when they are scanned using the ADF.
The lines don't appear if i scan via flatbed.
I've researched a bit and found out, that the problem could lay inside the ADF, so i opened the ADF an cleaned all parts described at this article from HP Support.
But cleaning didn't help,  so i don't know what else could cause that problem.
Does anybody have an advice for me?
best regards and thanks in advance
    Markus

    Hi @MarkusF ,
I read your post and see that you are getting lines when scanning from the ADF.  Thanks for providing the document you have already tried and had the same results. I would be happy to help you.
Usually this issue is caused by a dirty glass or the printer isn't getting enough power. Since you already cleaned the glass and ADF, make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Updating the printer's firmware may also resolve this issue. Here is the link to get to the firmware for the printer. I see that the website is changed a bit. Select Option 2 and wait for the page to load and then select the link for firmware.
    Software and Drivers.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Scanner not working hp officejet 6700

I have an Officejet 6700 Premium Printer..   When I hit scan to computer, it says no computer found.   I connected the printer to the computer with a USB cable and hit scan but window says waiting for scanner..   Printer works wirelessly w/ computer but is sporadic and sometimes have to restart printer to get it to connect wirelessly to computer..   tried to download software from hp but cant open the dmg file in my download file.   Error message says Officejet series 6700 image not recognized.

    Hello ramblindan,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with scanning to the computer.
I also see that you had the printer connected on a wireless network and then attempted to scan over USB.  When the connection is changed from wireless to USB without adjusting the software, this can cause communication issues.
I have a few steps that we can run through to troubleshoot the issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest that we remove the usb cable from the printer and the computer and leave it off.
Please click on the following link that troubleshoots when the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
If this does not resolve the issue, please respond with which Operating System you are running.
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?

Can i do this without usb and true network?

Install the full feature software and drivers and connect to your network and make your changes as that may be the only way, via software connected to the printer.

It's possible that you need new drivers from HP, in order to be compatible with OS X 10.8.3. Looking at HP website, they haven't released new drivers since last November. You might need to wait for new drivers or contact HP to push for an update.

  • Help please! HP 6700 Scanner Won't Connect Wirelessly

    Hi there,
I recently bought the HP Officejet 6700 and it prints wirelessly without a problem, but will not scan wirelessly.  When I try to "Enable Scan to Computer" I get a "Communication Error" message - unable to communicate with the device.  I have tried unplugging and restarting both the machine and my laptop but no change.  I have also made sure all of the software and firmware are up to date but still no luck.  I am using Mac OS X 10.7.5
I would really rather not uninstall the software and reinstall it if possible as there are other people in my office who couldn't get their laptop to even print wirelessly on their own printers and I'm worried that could happen to me.  But I am definitely open to any suggestions.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thank you.

    Hello hpnikki,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having a wireless connectivity issue.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have located a document that troubleshoots the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • HP Officejet 6700 - scanning problem, "device is busy. please try again later"

I am using a windows laptop (Lenovo Yoga II). I have an HP Officejet 6700 printer/ scanner. The printing functions seem to work fine but the scanning function is now not working at all (worked previously).
When I use the HP Scan and Capture app is comes up with a message "Device is busy. Please try again later". I have installed the full software and also run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it fails the driver check even after a full restart of both printer and laptop.
I have tried everything wirelessly and also connecting the laptop to the printer via USB and nothing seems to work.
When I try to scan direct from the printer/ scanner to the computer (ie. using the panel on the front of the printer) it recognises the computer but doesn't scan and suggests that the "scan application on the computer is currently in use".
I have McAfee LiveSafe running and also tried switching that off but didn't seem to make any difference.
Any ideas welcome. I really need to scan some things today and this is very frustrating.

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium All-in-One

I am having a problem with my scanner as it will not find the PC Desktop. I have set up the network correctly and although the printer works vioa the network, the scanmner has stopped for some unknown reason. I am using windows 8 although I am unable to upgrade to  8.1.
I have downloaded scan doctor but this can not find the problem.  I have tried to uninstall the sopftware but each time it rolls it back and will not uninstall.  I have tried downloading the latest software OJ6700_1315.exe but this will not complete.
    Any ideas?

    Hi petermarks,
I understand you have an Officejet 6700 and are having issues installing, uninstalling and scanning. I will certainly do my best to assist you with this.
At this point, I'm not entirely sure where you are with the software, so I will recommend that you follow this Uninstalling the Printer Software document to remove everything via the Control Panel, and then please use the HP Printer Install Wizard to get the software reinstalled.
If this still doesn't work, can you please let me know where in the install/uninstall that you're getting errors, and what errors you're getting?
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium

    Hi,
I need advice regarding what to do so I again can scan on my printer.
I have no clue why I suddenly  cannot scan. The message on the printer is:
Windows: Open Hp Printer software, select Scanner Actions, and then select Manage Scan to Computer.
I did not ever change any settings which is the reason why I dont understand what has happened nor do I understand exactly WHERE I am supposed to locate HP Printer software so I can select Scanner Actions
I should mention my computer is a HP Sleekbook with Windows 8.1 installed.
Hopefully somebody can tell me what to do.
    Thanks

    Hi cath9999,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that, you cannot scan with your HP Officejet 6700 premium to a Windows 8.1 PC. I am happy to help you with this scanning issue! I have a few questions for you:
How is the printer connected? Wireless, Ethernet, or USB?
Can you make copies with the printer?
Is the power cable plugged into a surge protector or directly to the wall outlet? Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

  • Not recognizing HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium for Scanning

    Hi to all,
I bought and set up an HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium. It is working fine for printing. However it won't recognize the HP Office Jet for scanning. Attempted both from device and from PC. I get a message that device was "not found"...I am running Windows 7.1
    The manual says this below:
If your printer is connected to a network and you are scanning to a Windows
computer, before you can scan from the control panel, you need to enable scanning
from the software. From the computer desktop, click Start, select Programs or All
Programs, select the folder for your HP printer, and then select the option for your
HP printer. Double-click Scanner Actions, double-click Manage Scan to
    Computer, and then click Enable.
I see the HP printer from the Programs menu, but I cannot get to the instruction - Scanner Actions.
    Please help.
    Thank you.

    Hi ColleenM,
I am sorry to hear you are having such difficulty scanning. The HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
On an unrelated note, there was a firmware update released for the Officejet 6700 that you may or may not need. This firmware update likely has nothing to so with the issue you are experiencing but I would like to take the opportunity to let you know about it. Having the newest update does the following:
    Fix/Enhancement
    1) Enhance ePrint Diagnostic report for ePrint Setup.
    2) Improve ease of wireless setup.
    3) Enhanced Embedded Web Services.
    4) Improve Print Quality.
    5) Improve Airport Express connectivity.
    6) Improve the accuracy & reliability of ink level gauge.
    7) Improve ADF pick performance.
    8) Improved paper handling
To check the version of your current printer firmware:
    Printer Information Screen
    1. From the Control panel, press Help (?) button, select Printer Information
    2. Use the down arrow button to scroll to the 2nd screen
    3. The current firmware revision will appear on the screen
If you do not have Version MPM3CN1322DR you need the update.
HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Firmware.
Let me know what happens with the PSDR. If the issue persists let me know, I am eager to help you resolve this.

I am trying to fax multiple pages and I can't get the fax to take the pages.  It just keeps telling me to place the original in the automatic document feeder.  When I do this I hear the doorbell sound that says the papers are in place, but the printer is not recognizing that the papers are in place.  I have opened the lid and turned off and on the printer thinking may need to be reset, but to no avail.  I can fax from the scanner glass, but not from the feeder.  Someone help me figure out what's wrong with my printer.  Thanks in advance!

  • Scanning with an Officejet 6700 Premium

    Hi!
    I'm having trouble scanning documents.
My laptop is a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.10.1 (Yosemite).
The printer is an Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One. It is connented via WiFi -- the Printers & Scanners section of System Preferences lists it as HP Officejet 6700-AirPrint.
I *can* print documents, so the setup is not entirely messed up...
The printer makes copies, so the scanning hardware must be OK.
I downloaded and installed fresh drivers from the HP website.
I *can* scan documents by going to the printer's webpage, then to Scan > Webscan. This only works in Firefox, not in Chrome, and doesn't give me the option to select the are I'd like to scan. It's rather inconvenient.
    What *doesn't* work:
-Webscan in the Chrome browser: the scanner makes some noise but I can't save the result.
-In Preview, File > Import from Scanner... is disabled. This used to work and was very convenient, but then broke somehow.
-HP Scan. It says "Preparing to scan..." for a couple of seconds then pops up an error message: "Scanner reported an error. HP Officejet 6700 is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later."
-"Scan to computer" from the printer. A popup appears on my computer screen:
"Scan failed. The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.hp.scanhandler.error error 2.)"
Any help would be greatly appreciated! It would be wonderful if we could get Preview's Import from Scanner... function to work.
    Thanks,
    b

    Ha!
    I fixed it.
    Here's what I did:
-Run HP Uninstaller to remove... everything?
    -Reboot the laptop.
-Do a factory reset on the printer, then re-enter the WiFi password.
-Download the driver (is that what it is?) from hp.com/support. I noticed that the file is called "HP Inkjet SW OSX Mavericks.pkg" even though my OS is called Yosemite.
-Install that, following all prompts. When I added the printer I picked"HP Officejet 6700" rather than "AirPrint" for"Use:"even though AirPrint would have been the default and the choice of "Auto Select". See attached screenshot.
-Go to Preview, menu File > Import from HP Officejet 6700... and test. Success!
Of course I don't know which of these things made the difference, but it worked for me.
    Cheers,
    b
