SCCM 2012 R2 - Architecture problem/ Suggestions???

Hello I have to build architecture for SCCM on 2012 R2 such the plan this below. I suggest 1 primary site installed in the protect zone with a SQL 2012 Server in the secure zone. The customers
will have no access to the primary server because customer have access only to the private zone( DMZ). What do you suggest?

Also, I strongly suggest you consider taking a course like Kent's
'Mastering ConfigMgr 2021 R2'.  Or, if you have a Microsoft Premier Support agreement, schedule some time to go through ConfigMgr Architecture and Desig with one of their experts.
ConfigMgr is the largest, most complex tool that Microsoft sells.  It is not something where you can just fumble through it.  And, if it isn't implemented properly from the beginning, making the important parts work can be very difficult.
While there are
2,996 pages of TechNet documentation for ConfigMgr, it is largely descriptive, not prescriptive.  This means it will tell you
what every setting can do, but not when in the real-world you would use it one way or another. This is where a real-world class like Kent's pays off, since he can explain not only what to do and how, but why it is important in given scenarios.
I hope that helps,
Nash

  • SCCM 2012 SCUP Updates problem

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm having a strange issue in my SCCM2012 environment.
    We deploy updates via WSUS and SCUP.
    Actually we have two infrastructure, one with SCCM2007 and one with SCCM2012.
    We are planning to migrate the 100% of the infrastructure on SCCM2012.
    The problem is that when I deploy an OSD Task from SCCM2012 the updates on the client are installed (java & Apple).
    If I upgrade a SCCM2007 Client on 2012, the Java & Apple updates fail.
    Any suggestion?
    Cheers

  • SCCM 2012 Query collection problem

    Hi!
    I have problem with query based collections. I want to create collection where is computers with db2 client and sql express installed. Query is like that:
    select *  from  SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS on SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ProdID = "{63F6DCD6-0D5C-4A07-B27C-3AE3E809D6E0}"
    and SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ProdID = "{2AFFFDD7-ED85-4A90-8C52-5DA9EBDC9B8F}"
    When I choose one of them, then it finds workstations. Where is my mistake or I need to do it another way?
    Best regards
    Ronald

    Hello Ronald,
    your Question is important for me because, i search for an possibility to Install the DB2 Client over SCCM environment. My way is over an Command file:
    @echo off
    net use s: \\xxxxxxxxx\d$\SoftwareDeployment\DB2_Driver /PERSISTENT:NO
    s:
    setup -u PROD_CLIENT.rsp
    timeout /T 600 /nobreak
    net use s: /delete
    But the Installation should not start, after some hours it failured with message ID 10006 and comment 1603.Do you know why it not start?

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 - Driver problem

    Hi All,
    I am trying to build a esprimo fujitsu desktop in which I get the below error everytime
    File:ifm63x64.sys
    Status:0xc0000098
    Windows failed to load because a required file is missing or corrupt
    I tried
    1. Removing the LAN driver
    2. SCSI Adaptor drivers and Storage drivers. I get the same problem is there any workground please
    Regards, Pratap

    The link posted above hasn't anything to do with the problem you're facing... Your problem is described here instead:
    http://venusingireddy.blogspot.fi/2013/07/windows-failed-to-load-ifm63x64sys.html
    So remove the Intel Enternet FCoE driver from your driver package and from your drivers completely, update your driver package and try again.

  • HP ProLiant Smart Array configuration during deployment with SCCM 2012 with ACU problem

    Hello
    I am making a OSD from HP ProLiant Gen 8 microservers.
    I made an ACU script for making Smart array and logical disks, I made a capture of the existing configuration using hpssascripting -c:
    Action= Configure
    Method= Custom
    Controller= SLOT 0
    RebuildPriority= Medium
    SurfaceScanMode= Idle
    SurfaceScanDelay= 3
    DriveWriteCache= Disabled
    PredictiveSpareActivation= Disable
    Array= A
    Drive= 1I:0:1, 2I:0:2
    OnlineSpare= No
    LogicalDrive= 1
    RAID= 1
    Size= 953837
    Sectors= 32
    StripSize= 256
    Caching= Enabled
    When I put this script in the task sequence, it executes, but when it fails when getting to the step Apply Operating System.
    Error log will say it has no bootable partition.
    When I do diskpart, I can see the disk and the partitions.
    The weird thing is when I manually make the array in the Smart Array Administrator, it works fine.

    Fixed, a reboot was required.

  • Client Push Not Working SCCM 2012

    I am new to SCCM and have a test rig SCCM 2012 for testing, problem is the client push fails every time and I am at a loss to explain why. I have tried removing and reading the DP, FSP and MP roles (Both these are on the SCCM core server) I have run IIS
    reset, removed all AD configured Boundaries and Groups in favor of IP range but I keep getting the same errors. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated... Below is this mornings logs highlighting the failure.

    Does you MP/DP use HTTP or HTTPS? I recommend to start with HTTP and when you have successfully installed a few clients, you can switch to HTTPS if desired. HTTPS based communication requires more steps e.g. client certificates.
    Have you extended AD schema and do you see objects in \System\System Management container in AD?
    Also, you might have DNS name resolution problem or the firewall is blocking the traffic from the client to MP.
    The client is having troubles to successfully talk with MP:

  • SCCM 2012 after SP1 replication link has failed

    Hi guys,
      after install SP1 on SCCM 2012 I have problem with Global Data Replication status and Site Data replication status on P02. Where I have C01 and P01, P02, P03, P04.  P02 is the only one which is broken more. Rest of primary sites have ok
    Global Data Replication status.
    Site P02 is after 1 week from patch console still in Read Only mode rcmctrl.log says: The current site status: ReplicationMaintenance.
    CAS C01 have in rcmctrl.log
    ERROR: Replication group "General_Site_Data" has failed to initialize for subscribing site C01, setting link state to Error.
    Retry for process replication is requested.
    Cleaning the RCM inbox if there are any *.RCM files for further change notifications....
    Rcm control is waiting for file change notification or timeout after 60 seconds.
    No connector role installed
    DRS change application started.
    Site is NOT active, so not calling the DrsActivation procedures on DRSSite queue.
    replmgr.log says nothing special to be mentioned.
    and when I run Replication Link Analyzer on C01 against Link to P02 it says :\
    ReplicationAnalysis.xml:
    Replication initialization is in progress for replication groups EndpointProtection_Site, Medium_Priority_Site, Operational_Data, General_Site_Data, MDM_SiteSpecial, MDM_Site. Found replication groups Replication Configuration that needs to be re-initialized.
    Reason code: ReinitializeSenderDespoolerError. Replication initialization is in progress for replication groups Site Control Data, Configuration Data, Registration Data, Language Neutral, Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base, EndpointProtection_ThreatMetaData,
    Alerts, Group Relationships. "
    Target site P02 is in maintenance mode. Not checking transmission messages sent to queue ConfigMgrDRSQueue. Target site P02 is in maintenance mode. Not checking transmission messages sent to queue ConfigMgrDRSQueue
    Target site C01 is in maintenance mode. Not checking transmission messages sent to queue ConfigMgrDRSQueue. Target site C01 is in maintenance mode. Not checking transmission messages sent to queue ConfigMgrDRSQueue
    so I need to somehow quit this maintenance mode. following this link did not helped me:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/minfangl/archive/2012/05/16/tips-for-troubleshooting-sc-2012-configuration-manager-data-replication-service-drs.aspx
    I restarted all these 5 servers with no luck.
    thank you for any hint/ help
    Jaromir
    Jaromir

    in my case in rcmctr.log is visible on CAS and primary site this message: ERROR: Replication group "General_Site_Data" has failed to initialize for subscribing site C01, setting link state to Error.
    but today we moved in this situation and my P02 2nd primary site fall out from maintenance mode and a lot of replication happened but General_Site_data still remain in problem.
    steps taken were: goto monitoring node > database replication > choose link which has problem and on the bottom check Initialization Detail
    you can see which replication Group has problem.
    Then in SQl server management studio we run following command with relevant name of Sites and Replication Group which are affected in my case
      select * from RCM_DrsInitializationTracking
     where replicationGroup = 'General_Site_data' AND SiteFulfilling='P02'
    it will show you status
    then this update query will force that replication group to start replicate(parameter 7):
    we run this many times against same or different replication groups which ahd problems
    update RCM_DrsInitializationTracking set InitializationStatus = 7 where ReplicationGroup = 'general_site_data' and SiteRequesting = 'C01' and SiteFulfilling = 'P02'
     it's still not win but we are moving forward. And it doesn't has to be same issue like you have but it can point you to somewhere...

  • Problem with uninstalling Office 2013 SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi, I am in a process of learning SCCM 2012 R2. Currently I am focused on application management so I started by deploying Office 2013 to test collection with only one member - direct rule membership by computer name. Deployment process finished without
    any problems - I kicked off installation from Software Center on client machine. Having installed Office 2013 I tried to uninstall it but I got an error: Setup can't find or validate an installation file. Please try reinstalling . . . . In SCCM server I entered:
    setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config .\ProPlus.ww\Uninstall.xml
    in uninstall program line. Uninstall.xml file is nothing special:
    <Configuration Product=”ProPlus”>
    <Display Level=”basic” CompletionNotice=”yes” SuppressModal=”yes” AcceptEula=”yes” />
    </Configuration>
    I tried to uninstall Office 2013 from cmd line but I got the same error. I can manually uninstall Office 2013 by running setup.exe file and following wizard but that does not mean anything to me except it proves installation files are not corrupted. Office
    2013 installation .iso file is downloaded from MS Volume Licensing Service Center.

    In SCCM server I entered: setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config .\ProPlus.ww\Uninstall.xml
    in uninstall program line.
    I've responded in your other thread:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/fd735611-95bf-46f6-8add-2229a52e3e93/i-can-not-uninstall-office-2013-from-command-line?forum=officeitpro
    Hi, your command-line is not valid - you are using a "relative" path for the <config.xml> and that is not supported..
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178956(v=office.15).aspx#BKMK_config
    Note: You must use a fully qualified path. Setup does not recognize relative paths with /config.
    Instead, I suggest that you copy your "Uninstall.xml" file to the same folder where setup.exe exists, then, adjust your command-line like this:
    setup /uninstall ProPlus /config Uninstall.xml

  • SMS Provider Locations Do Not Match - Problem installing SCCM 2012 R2 CU4

    I have an SCCM 2012R2 CU1 site that has been upgraded from SCCM 2012 non-SP1, so I have gone from 2012 to 2012SP1 through CU5 and then to R2 and then to CU1.
    Over the course of the life of this site, which has more than 10k clients and 10 Site Systems, we have installed roles, removed roles, moved roles and removed Site Systems.
    I have also installed and removed SMS providers . . . which is where my issues begin.
    The site properties in the console list 6 SMS Providers and even lists an SMS provider on a server that was retired and is no longer a Site System.  When I query WMI using the following VBS script it only returns the *ACTUAL* SMS Provider locations,
    2 of the 6 listed in the GUI.
    On Error Resume Next
    Const ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2, ForAppending = 8
    strComputer = "."
    Set oFS = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\sms")
    If Err.Number <> 0 Then
    WScript.Echo "Cannot connect to WMI"
    WScript.Echo vbTab & "Error " & Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
    End If
    Set oLog = oFS.OpenTextFile("C:\Temp\SMS_ProvList.log",ForAppending, True)
    If Err.Number <> 0 Then
    WScript.Echo "Could not create output file"
    WScript.Echo vbTab & "Error " & Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
    End If
    Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery("SELECT * FROM SMS_ProviderLocation",,48)
    count = 0
    For Each objItem in colItems
        count = count + 1
        oLog.WriteLine "-----------------------------------"
        oLog.WriteLine Now()
        oLog.WriteLine "Provider instance " & count &  " : " & objItem.Machine
        oLog.WriteLine "NamespacePath : " & objItem.NamespacePath
        oLog.WriteLine ""
    Next
    I have a test environment which has also gone through some growth over its lifetime and has had the same changes to SMS Providers made.  When I first attempted to install SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 in this test environment the installer continually failed the
    prerequisite checker when querying the CU level of the SMS Providers.  The only way that I could get past that issue was by running a site maintenance task via the CM installer and installing an SMS Provider at the location that had previously been an
    SMS Provider but I had uninstalled that role.
    I do not want to have to do that in my production environment, and would not even be able to do so if I wanted as I have retired one of the servers listed and cannot re-provision that machine.
    Any CM12 gurus out there with suggestions?  This strikes me as a standard MS problem when having multiple development teams working on a product/update and not having a standard location to check for configuration information (This is exactly the problem
    when configuring DNS suffixes via GPO and not manually setting the GUI to match).
    Thanks!
    Josh Gerner
    Cornell University.

    The issue I have is that I cannot find the WMI class that holds the SMS Providers that are returned by the GUI.
    I actually engaged MS Premier for a SCCM 2012 RAAS about 2 years ago and that was when the discrepancy first reared it's head.  The support person that I worked with couldn't give me a way of cleaning those entries at that point which is when I started
    logging the locations to be sure that my maintenance task was really installing or removing the SMS Providers.

  • OSD Architecture from SCCM 2012 R2

    We have happily run SCCM 2012 SP1 for years. In SP1 all of our OSD task sequences used an x86 boot image and based on its collection membership would load 64 or 32 bit Windows without a hiccup.
    This weekend we upgraded to 2012 R2. After the upgrade, I made new boot images for each architecture with matching driver sets as I always have. After doing this we assigned all of the OSD task sequences to the newly created x86 boot
    images.
    The problem is that now only 32 bit windows works in these same task sequences. If you attempt to load a 64 bit OS, the machine will BSOD and die immediately after the OS is applied. If you flip the assigned boot image to our new x64, the 64 bit machines,
    load just fine but obviously, this configuration will kill any attempt to load a 32 bit OS.
    Long story short is prior to upgrading the interoperablility of x86 boot images applied and now we seem to be limited to having to match the boot image architecture with the OS which sucks.
    Any ideas?

    The architecture of the boot image should have absolutely nothing to do with the architecture of the deployed operating system if you are using a BIOS-based device.
    Have you started researching the blue screen?  If you own MDOP, you can analyze the memory dump with DART.  Or, googling the stop error should get you started.
    If it turns out the driver injection steps aren't working as expected, you'll want to post logs.
    It wouldn't hurt to try updating both of your boot images again. It could be that something went wrong when building the x86 one that is causing the inject drivers step to fail.

  • OoB Problems with SCCM 2012 SP1 CU1

    Hi around, perhaps somone has tried this things out already and has a little hint for me.
    After we got OoB Managment to work under SCCM 2007 we switched to SCCM 2012 now i have some problems bringing it to work again.
    We use a Verisign Certificate for Provisioning, the Firewall Ports (9971 on Server and 19992, 16993 and 16995 on Client) are opend. The autoenrollment is active. DHCP 06 and 15 are set and configured.
    The IIS SSL Settings are configured to accept Client Certificates and the Bindings are set to the Web Server Template. We tried to configure it using the Verisign Certificate but it didn't work that way either.
    The Webserver Template is build after the Step by Step guide from MS.
    The Verisign Certificate was build the same way, Organization Unit is set to Intel(R) Client Setup Certificate. It was imported in the Personal Certificate Store, exported and implemented in the Enrollment Point.
    The AD Group exists and the Oob Managment Server has the permissions it needs.
    The Oob Managment Point was configured like shown in the MS Step by Step guide.
    The Client i'm testing with was fully unprovisioned.
    Now the only Status i get is detected and when i try to discover AMT the amtopmgr.log brings the following errors.
    Error 0x80090304 returned by InitializeSecurityContext during follow up TLS handshaking with server. SMS_AMT_OPERATION_MANAGER 12.07.2013 09:36:39 3624 (0x0E28)

    We double checked the admin Account in the OOB settings but the password is right and i can manually log in to the MEBX with it.
    Has anyone some suggestions what could be wrong?
    Thank's for the help.

    Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up.
    Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
    By the sounds of thing the problem is with your certificate. Can you manually provision a Certified to any of these systems?

  • Need suggestion wrt sccm 2012 implementation

    I have a production scenario where there are 3500+ client servers which are located in 5 different location in different geographical location and each location is having Data center, can someone pl suggest what shall be the best fit design before implementing
    SCCM 2012?
    shall I go for Primary Stand-alone on mail DC with Secondary sites on remaining DC locations or shall I configure DP roles on remaining DC locations?
    Thanks in Advance
    Rupesh

    Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
    For this I would use 1 primary site and some DPs based on network layout and speed.

  • Problems with report builder 3.0 in SCCM 2012 R2 CU2

    Hi All
    I have problems with editing  (Using Report builder) existing reports  or creating new ones in SCCM 2012 R2 CU2
    We version of SQL we use is SQL 2008 R2 SP2
    I already asked this question in the SCCM 2012 forum but the problem is not related to SCCM but has something to do with application report builder
    I changed the registry key and edited the Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe.config.xml as described in the following link
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/smartinez/archive/2012/07/03/system-center-2012-configuration-manager-create-report-don-t-work-what-do-i-do-now.aspx
    Afterwards I try to edit an report I see report builder is being downloaded and after it generates the following error “Application did not succeed. Unable to continue”
    Error details are

    And in the SmsAdminUI.log I noticed the following error

    I removed the reporting point no luck -> I already installed report builder 3.0 local on my computer still no luck.
    I hope someone can give me some advice , I am lost with this error
    Thx in advance
    Regards

    Hi Miss Katherine,
    1. I went through the SQL steps in the link you posted
    2. I updated the Reg Key and Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe.config file with 3.0 on both the
    server and the console machine.
    3. I copied the .DLL file from your OneDrive and replaced the existing one on the server.
    4. I uninstalled and re-installed the reporting role on the server and received the 1015 in the log.
    5. I restarted the server and the client machine
    I do get a slightly different error now after using the new DLL

  • Problems install SCCM 2012 with remote sql 2008 r2 sp2

    I am having issues installing sccm 2012 on a remote sql 2008 r2 sp2 server on a seperate instance.
    I get the error "The network path was not found"
    if i point it at the primary instance it will let me continue but i cannot install sccm into that instance.
    I have turned off dynamic ports and set a static port but I do not see where i can enter that in the installer.
    I cannot seem to verify is the ssb port is working correctly or not.
    my account is local admin on both servers and a sql sysadm.
    There is no firewall between servers.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards
    Don

    SPN is setup to AUTO register and is working.  remote sql is not a cluster.  Windows firewall on both servers is disabled.  Sql browser is enabled and started.  we have a group for system center that contains site servers and this group
    is in the local admin of both servers and sysadm inside of sql server.
    Why  we are consolidating all or our lesser sql servers into a larger one.

  • There is a problem connectiong to the specified reporting Server SCCM 2012 SSRS

    hi,
    I'm Trying to install reporting services point SCCM 2012,  I configured the
    site system role without problems, but when I tried to configure the report options I get this error:
    "There is a problem connectiong to the specified reporting, please check the conection and make sure SQL Reporting Service is running on the especified server. "
    The reporting service is running on remote server, I'm using SQL SERVER 2008.
    Two Questions:
    1: Which is the cause of the error?
    2: Which right permissions must have the reporting services point account?
    Thanks.

    Are you allowing port 1433 through the firewall?
    Which release of SQL Server are you using and have you applied the relevant minimum CU? Details here
    http://sccmentor.wordpress.com/2013/12/31/sql-server-site-database-configuration/
    Which version of SRS is installed? If 10.50.1600.1 you will need to get this updated to above 2500 level.
