SCOM 2007 - OPerations console only for exchange servers.

HI All,
There is s requirement in my organisation where-in we have to create monitoring /operations console , only for exchange servers is that possible? If yes, can some share the information on the same also, this needs to be done in SCOM 2007 R2.
Rgs,

Hi Naren,
If your organisation does not have any restrictions in providing the Administration acces, Then i would sugges you import the Exchange 2010 / 2013 management packs.
Download link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=692
http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=39039 ( Exchange 2013 M's not compatible with SCOM 2007 R2 as per my understanding)
Post importing,
Go to the operations console and SCOPE the objects only to Exchange 2010 Monitoring target, So that the console will only display you the Exchange 2010 management pack alerts.
Once in a while remove the SCOPE and clear the other alerts as well and then re scope it back.
Or if you are only monitoring Exchange 2010 then no need to SCOPE at all as there will be no other management packs to throw alerts in SCOM console.
If security is your concern then Make a normal operator account like the below and tell them to SCOPE the objects to Exchange 2010 or give them access to the Web console where the administration tab will be unavailable at all times.
Security scope: Make them a member of This group for limited / only monitoring access:
I Admin access is necessary, Then make them a member of Operationsmanager Admins on the 1st group of the screenshot.

  • SCCM 2007 R2 Query - Look for Win2k8 servers where Terminal Services is installed.

    Hi there.
I have been looking all over the net. That's how it feels ;-D. I'm trying to a find out how to create a query that I can use in a SCCM Collection. This query should result in only Windows 2008 Servers where Terminal Services have been installed.
So far I have tried at least ten different ways of doing this. With no prevail. So I hope you guys can assist me.
    1) Create a collection.
    2) Create a query.
    a. The query should only find Windows 2008 Server where Terminal Services is installed.
    3) Then I can distribute only to these servers.
Thank you. Your help is highly appreciated.
    Regards.

Hmm... Well, keeping in mind that from my point of view, there is no reason to not install the client on every box in the enterprise.  What's the reason to not install the client?  If there's a political reason, like those boxes belong to some other team who doesn't want you touching their servers, why are you responsible for ensuring Terminal Services is installed?  Make *them* come up with an alternate method to confirm that.
Just deploy the client and move on.
I cannot think of a single way to determine if Terminal Services is installed without either the ConfigMgr Client installed, or a different administrative tool tell you that.  Whether that other Admin tool is a remote script you design & run, or if you have some other tool available (would SCOM be able to be configured to report that?  Maybe.), I have no suggestions for you other than logging into each server interactively and looking manually.
Which brings me full circle back to: just install the ConfigMgr client.
Slightly OT: once they have the client installed, you could then create a DCM Baseline so that you could run a report and see which ones might have 'drifted' from the approved configuration.Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

  • Quality Operation confirmation only for specific grid Values

    Hello,
When I am doing in process inspection for a specific routing for say the 0040th operation, upon confirmation I would like to confirm only part quatities for a specific grid value alone. But there are certain issues as follows:
    1. When I am specifying the grid values, the same is not automatically copied to the yield quantitites field for confirmation. Moreover the system does not even propose what is the quantity to be confirmed. so the user has to remember and feed in the quantities.
    2. When I am trying to save the partial quantites as per the grid system is automatically raising a partial lot. Why is system doing so? I am not able to figure out why?
Any suggestions on this is greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Aji Kurian Mani

    Hi Aji Kurian Mani,
I am not so sure which transaction code you are using for confirmation. If at all you are willing to perform this through QA32 its feasible.
    1.     All you need to do is maintain inspection point at header level in routing
    2.     At operation level double click on control key. Scroll down up to quality management view.
    3.     There in confirmation menu choose valuation and confirmation.
    4.     You may try using different combinations there as a result of which when you valuate the results for inspection point, system throws a window to input yield and scrap.

  • Test environment for exchange servers

    Hi All,
We are consulting company and I want to learn exchange functionality. Do you think I will be able to test it? Does oracle has any test exchange server environment? How do I get neccessary registration done on oracle.exchange?

Thanks DareDevil57.   Here is the output of the command you requested I run:
    Name                                          Status
    CopyQueue ReplayQueue LastInspectedLogTime   ContentIndex
    Length    Length                             State
    MailboxDB1\EXCH03                             Dismounted      0
    0                                  Failed
    MailboxDB2\EXCH03                             Dismounted      0
    0                                  Failed
I have removed the downed server from the DAG, but cannot re-add it because we are only allowed two server in the environment.  I'll have to lookup how to update the catalog.  I read through Paul's post, but the only responses I was getting when
running the commands was that because there is only one copy of the database on the server.
I'll let you know how it goes with updating the catalog.  Let me know if you think of anything else.

  • SCOM 2007 Runbook "Missing Extensions"

Yes, I have the OM console installed on the Runbook server.
    We are using SCO 2012 R2 with SCOM 2007 R2 CU7.
I have a simple runbook which starts with the Monitor Date/Time activity > finds warnings > the age > and either closes the warning or creates a critical alert depending on some variables.  The runbook runs great in the tester. But when we
actually run it, it will start and then abruptly stop. The log will say that it is missing extensions.
Even when i create a 1 activity runbook (Get Alert) it will succeed in the tester and fail with missing extensions when run live.
    Very similar to: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/2f30bc5a-4387-4ff2-a518-2d80cfaa0686/runbook-error-some-of-the-extensions-are-missing.
Except we have the console installed.
Question 1: What else may cause the SCOM IP to be missing some extensions/binaries?
Question 2: When using SCO 2012 R2 with SCOM 2007 R2, should we have the SCOM 2007 R2 console, or does the IP actually need the SCOM 2012 console?
Question 3: Why arent these extensions/binaries built into the SCOM IP, or at even installed when SCO is installed? I'm no software developer, but it seems incomplete. (This question was mostly rhetorical)
    - Get on the floor, do that dinosaur

    Hi,
the problem in the thread you referred to was that the Integration Pack was not Installed on the executing Runbook Server: "Runbook 'Name' stopped some of the Extensions are missing"

  • SCOM 2007 cross-forest clients migration

Hello to all. I'm preparing a cross-forest migration from source domain domain1.a.com to target domain domain2.b.com .
Source domain has hundreds of servers (windows 2003 and windows 2008). All source DCs are Windows 2003. Source domain already has SCOM 2007 R2 deployed on its member servers and on others located on another source domains.
As cross-forest migration will run just for domain1.a.com I need to know:
1- Is possible to migrate member servers from source-->target and keep source SCOM 2007 R3 monitoring the already migrated member server?
2-If positive, what need to be done in advance (before any member server migration) and after each member server migration?
3-If target forest already have a SCOM 2007 R2 environment, what should need to be done so migrated member servers would be monitored on this target SCOM 2007 R2 (that has nothing to do with the source one) ?
       Thanks in advance, EEOC.

    1. It is possible.
    2. You will have to install certificates in the environment and either manag the agents through a gateway (minimal number of certs) or by installing certs on the agents directly.
    3. Just uninstall the agents and reinstall by the target SCOM 2007 R2 console.

  • Office 365 Management Pack - SCOM 2007

    Hi All,
Can anyone please point me to an official link on SCOM 2007 R2 Management Pack for
Office 365. Just wondering if the below link is the right one which I am reffering to
    http://www.systemcentercentral.com/scom-monitoring-office-365/
Also, the one which is available for download in "Microsoft Download center" (http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=43708)
is designed for SCOM 2012 family, not for SCOM 2007 R2
    Appreciate your help...
    Faizan

Although this MP is not the official document on monitoring Office 365 using SCOM 2007 R2, it original came from
http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2011/07/29/monitoring-office-365-using-operations-manager.aspx which has a higher reputation and reliable source for Microsoft solution. At last, it is high recommend that you should test it on your testing
environment before roll out to production environment.

  • E90 mail for exchange issue - spurious calendar en...

My Chief Exec uses an E90 to connect to an Exchange 2007 server, using Mail for Exchange.
Everything syncs ok but some of his calendar entries refuse to sync onto the phone so we can't guarantee that he has all his meetings available.
It does the same for 2.0.7 and 2.0.9
I moved his sim into a Palm Treo and the calendar picked up everything.
    Any ideas?

Don't know if it helps but we were told that turning off Cached Exchange mode, in Outlook, resolves the issue. Only problem is that our exchange server is run by a third party company and Cached Echange mode is mandatory to using Outlook. You just get blocked if you haven't enabled it. Catch 22. Looks like it will be Smartphones for the whole of the my company. Thats a massive market that Nokia have just lost, considering that we are the third biggest employer in the world.

  • Provision for capacity alerts for Exchange 2010 servers on SCOM

    Hi All,
This is one urgent requirement, please help.
We have around 25 exchange servers in our environment, we need to configure alerts to limit the threshold to 80-90% of mailbox.
My requirement is to configure SCOM alerts for mailboxes hosted on databases servers. In our environment we have set that a database should contain 208 mailboxes. So we need to have alert when mailbox limits reaches to 80% or 90% (say 180 mailboxes in number).
Please let me know hw to configure this alert and thresholds in SCOM?
    Best Regards,

     Hi,
Have you import the Exchange management pack to your maagement group?
We may need to check the management pack guide to find if there is any monitor or rule which can do this.

  • Creating view for exchange alerts only

how do I give access to another group to view or modify alerts for the exchange servers alerts? Should this be done on the web view or the scom console?

Rather than building another view, just create a new operator role (Exchange Ops - or whatever name you want to call it), scope it to the Exchange Views, and add their security group to that role.  Now they can log in to the console and they will be
presented with ALL the alerts contained within the Exchange View.  If you have multiple versions of Exchange, scope them to all of them.
Now, if these Exchange ops people want to see ALL alerts on an Exchange server, then you would have to author a custom MP containing an instance group of windows.server/computer classes, create a view which would display all alerts for that instance group,
then scope them to that particular custom view which would reside in your newly created custom MP.
Otherwise, if they just want Exchange related items, then scope them to the views and don't bother creating more.  That's my take on the situation, but the other suggestions work as well.  Just depends on what they want to see and how much work
you want to make for yourself.  Explain to them, that if they are scoped to a specific MP view (Windows, IIS, etc) then they are going to mostly see alerts pertaining to those applications.  If you are monitoring hardware or clusters, and there are
issues with hardware or clusters, then they may not see it in the Exchange alert view because of how the targeting is set up and presented.

  • Receive Connector stopped working after Update Rollout 2 for Exchange 2007 SP2

One of the Exchange 2007 servers receive connector has stopped working since installing the latest rollout update for Exchange 2007 SP2 - for some reason the following error is received (when troubleshooting on the adjacent server) :
"Remote server server.domain.co.uk failed the mail acceptance test. MAIL FROM command: Respond = 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated."
Most admins will know you usually get this when first setting up Exchange and the receive connector not allowing anonymous connections. But our setup has been working for well over a year with no problems. Even enabling anonymous connections still doesn't fix the problem.
Our setup is 2 exchange servers across 2 sites, with the problematic server never receiving email from the internet, only from the other Exchange server (which is internet facing). The above error is received when the internet facing server is relaying email over to the problematic server. Though in the message queue the following error is received:
    "SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistantDomain; nonecistant domain"
After testing DNS that all seems fine, so I don't believe it's a DNS problem.
Any ideas why this would happen?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matt....
To receive e-mails from the external servers or domains or clients, you can setup a new receive connector on Hub Transport Server. To do this task, you can go through the steps mentioned in this blog....
