Sent Items in People Pane

Why doesn't the People Pane list e-mail sent to that person in addition to e-mail that person sent to me?  It would be nice to see all e-mails related to that person, both sent and recieved.

I would like e-mails I have sent to a particular person show up in the People Pane so I don't have to go looking in the "sent items" folder.  Having all communication with the person in the one location makes much more sense doesn't it?  Maybe
there is a setting that enables this so that is why you don't think I've provide enough information? As far as I can tell, the People Pane only shows e-mails that the person sent to me, not e-mails I have sent to that person.  Why not show all my communications
with that person... sent and received?
Simply Outlook does not show the sent items because it does know who is the sender!  It sounds preposterous, but it is true.  You would assume that when you setup an email account, Outlook should know that the email sent from that account belong
to the account holder (i.e., You or Me).  However, that is not the condition.  Microsoft sets email security APPLIED SIMULTANOUSELY to the inbox and sent items folders restricting emails to/from to "the approved senders list only," by default.
Since Microsoft does not inform Outlook that the account holder is the sender and you do not have a contact account of yourself (i.e., the Owner), Outlook does not have any items to show in the sent items folder associated with the sender (i.e., Me/You).
Go it?  FYI: This is by design by Microsoft and they should correct this bu&^%$.

  • Outlook 2013 people pane is not showing any items for internal domain users. External contacts works fine

I have recently purchase a new PC which has Windows 8.1, and Outlook 2013, connected to an exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 server.
In the People pane, the for External clients, then this box populates correctly, but for internal domain users, it shows "There are no items to show in this view"
On my OLD PC using XP, and Outlook 2010, connected to the SAME account, then people pane shows correctly for all users.
    Any help appreciated
    regards
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I have checked in my Windows 8 and Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4 environment. There are three folders listed under My Contact in my People pane:
Contacts: The contacts which we added and saved
    manually before.
Lync Contacts: The contacts we added in Lync.
    Suggested contacts folder: Automatically
keeps track of everyone you send a message to, but isn’t in your Outlook contacts. Please note that it is different from Auto-Complete List.
Therefore, I suppose that the meaning of “but for internal domain users, it shows ‘There are no items to show in this view’ ” is that there is no contacts in the
Contacts folder. Is it right? If I misunderstand, please point it out. And we need to add and save users manually in this folder.
    Thanks,

  • Sent messages aren't saved in the Sent Items folder in Outlook 2013

When we send a message in Outlook 2013, a copy of the message should be saved in the Sent Items folder by default. If Outlook doesn’t save a copy of the sent message, it may be caused by any one of the following
    reasons:
The “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder”
    option in Outlook is disabled.
The save location for sent messages was changed to another folder.
There is a custom view set on Sent Items folder, or the view on
    Sent Items is corrupt.
Outlook Data File may be damaged.
To resolve the issue, use the appropriate method for your situation.
Enable the Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder
    option
To configure Outlook 2013 to save copies of your sent messages in the Sent Items folder, please follow these steps:
    1. Click File tab > Options.
    2. Click Mail on the left pane.
    3. Scroll to the Save Messages section, select the check box before “Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder”.
    4. Click OK.
If it is the replying message that is not saving to the Sent Items folder, we need to disable the “When replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder” option in the location mentioned above.
If you’re using an IMAP account, please also make sure you didn’t select the “Do not save copies of sent items” in Account Settings. To check this, Please refer to the following steps:
    1. In Outlook, click File tab > Info.
    2. Click Account Settings > Account Settings, and then double-click your IMAP account to open the
    Change Account wizard.
    3. Click More Settings button.
    4. Under Sent Items heading, clear the check box before “Do not save copies of sent items”.
    5. Click OK and click Next to complete the configuration.
Make sure there is no rule or anything else to redirect sent messages to other folders
To check if it is caused by Outlook rules, please follow these steps:
    1. In Outlook 2013, click Home tab.
    2. Click Rules > Manage Rules & Alerts.
    3. In the rules list, check if there is any rule that applied to the sent messages may cause this issue.
In addition, some rules may be corrupt or hidden and we cannot see them from the rules list. We need to use the MFCMAPI tool to find and delete the corrupt/hidden rules. To do this, we can use the following steps:
    1. Download MFCMAPI tool from: http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/
    2. Start MFCMAPI tool.
    3. Click Session menu >
Logon, select the Outlook profile you are using and click OK.
    4. Double-click the mailbox that contains the inbox rules that you want to delete.
    5. A new window will open. In the new window, expand
Root Container or Root – Mailbox, and then expand
Top of Information Store or IPM_SUBTREE.
    6. Right click on Inbox and select
    Open associated contents table.
    7. In the Inbox window, locate and then right-click the items that have the
IPM.Rule.Message message class, and then click Delete Message.
To identify a specific rule, you’ll have to select the rule in the top pane in MFCMAPI and then scroll down in the lower pane and look at the
Property name(s) column. Find the ptagRuleMsgName property name and check the value against the rule name you were trying to delete in Outlook.
    8. In the Delete Item dialog, select
DELETE_HARD_DELETE from the Deletion Style drop-down menu.
    9. Click OK.
Reset the view settings on Sent Items folder
If you accidently changed the view settings on Sent Items folder, this may cause some sent messages not visible in the folder. To check if you’ve set any view settings on Sent Items folder, please follow:
    1. In Outlook, select Sent Items folder.
    2. Click View tab from the Ribbon.
    3. Click View Settings button. If you notice the
Reset Current View button is clickable, it means the view settings for Sent Items have been changed before.
    4. Click the Reset Current View button and then check the Sent Items folder again.
Scan and repair the Outlook Data File
To repair the .pst file, please follow:
    1. Find and start the Inbox Repair Tool in the following path:
For Outlook 2013 on a 32-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
For Outlook 2013 on a 64-bit version of Windows:
    <disk drive>\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15
    2. In the Inbox Repair tool, click Browse to locate the PST file by using the Windows file system.
    3. Click Start.
    4. After the analysis scan has completed, it will present you with a scanning report and options for the next step. Click Repair button.
To repair the .ost file, since this type of data file is a copy of information saved on your mail server, we can just delete the OST file and restart Outlook to re-create a new one.
For more information about repair Outlook data files, please refer to this article:

Same problem here, connecting to a Groupwise (not latest) server. Whenever Mail.app 3 tries to upload/save a new messsage to the server, it would not save and completely lose the message!
I found slightly more information by turning off the "Save to server" option for Sent and Drafts, created a new message that I saved as draft, and then tried to manually move items to the Drafts or Sent folder on the IMAP server.
The error I received was: The message <message> could not be moved to the mailbox <mailbox>-<account>. The IMAP command "APPEND" (to <mailbox>) failed with server error: APPEND NotJunk.
To my inexperienced eyes, it looks like the latest version of Mail changed it's default IMAP handling commands that may be incompatible with older IMAP servers. Anyone else have more insight or know how I can get back Mail.app 2.x from Tiger?

  • Sent items are not received...

    Hello community...
Seeking some help on a strange problem. I constructed an email over a few days, then sent it to a number of people, and none of them received it. So I resent. Same result. So I forwarded it to myself as a test - a few days ago and it's still not appeared in my alternative email inbox.
    I have tried:
    - forwarding the email
    - replying all and changing the addrees
    - copy/paste into a few email and starting over
This email refuses to go to any reciptient. Each time, the email DOES appear in my sent items, as though it has gone quite happily. Neither myself or my friends has any postmaster deivery failure messages or suchlike.
(I got around the problem by copying/pasting into my gmail account and sending from there.)
    Any clue?
    Thanks
    Adrian

    Dear Riaz,
Thanks for your suggestion. I checked but DNS is working fine. we have two ADDC and both are syncing properly. I also tried to see any wrong entries but could not found. repadmin /syncall works without error on both ADDC. We are facing this issue few time
a day for users. i.e. if a user's sends email to another user. 10 times it'll reach normaly while one time it wouldn't go. similarly if somebody from outside send's email to our user who is added as a contact in our AD domain but works outside office, his
email some times rejected by exchange server with the same error
"The domain name in the email address is incorrect. Check the address.
    554 5.4.4 SMTPSEND.DNS.NonExistentDomain; nonexistent domain".
while he is using the same domain which our internal user's are using (as smtp addres).
I have a doubt on our broadband internet as we changed it a few days before with a different ISP and after that it started happening.
Although I checked the ISP router, it's firewall settings etc etc but everything looks fine.

  • Sent items from a shared mailbox are not saved with the shared mailbox

I'm experiencing an issue regarding the sent items from a shared mailbox.
The users would like the items Sent on Behalf of a shared mailbox to be saved within this shared mailbox.
At this moment, the Sent Items are saved in the users own mailbox.
We have a single Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (Version 14.3 Build 123.4) and Users connecting the Exchange Server are using Microsoft Outlook 2007 (12.0.6680.5000) SP3 MSO.
The user is granted full access permissions on the shared mailbox, and also has "Send on Behalf" permissions on the mailbox. The mailbox is setup as an "online" mailbox, so it doesn't use cached mode.
I tried the following solutions mentioned in the various KB's and technet articles:
Configuring the "DelegateSentItemsStyle" registry setting for this user (using a GPO)
Configured the "Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration" cmdlet for this user
Logged on to OWA and changed the "Sent Items" settings to save the sent items in both mailboxes
None of these settings worked, not combined and neither seperately.
Is there anyone who can help me resolving this issues?
    Thanks in advance,
    Roy Schottmans

I am using a shared mailbox (with a disabled account) where I get sent items and also deleted items placed in the right folders.
I think it’s just a matter of how you configure Outlook. It works well for me in both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, cached mode and also online mode. You can add a shared mailbox to your Outlook profile in at least two ways where one of them doesn’t work
    but the other does.
If you add the shared mailbox via the File tab/Account settings/New/ and just enter the e-mail address of the shared mailbox in the Auto Account Setup page. No name, no password, just the e-mail address and click Next and voila “Your e-mail account is successfully
configured”. After restarting Outlook you will find the shared mailbox below your own in the left pane.
If you click the inbox ones in the shared mailbox and then open a new mail you will see the shared mailbox display name in the From field. After sending the mail you will see the mail in the Sent Items folder of the shared mailbox. If you delete a mail in
the shared mailbox you will see it in Deleted items folder of the shared mailbox.
The prerequisits for this is that you have “full access” and “send as” rights of the shared mailbox.
This was accomplished without using the Set-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration command.
    We are running Exchange 2010 SP3 RU4.

  • Why are my sent items not stored when sending from Apple Mail?

    Hello Apple Support Communities,
I am Using an iMac at my place of employment. It is running OSX Yosemite v10.10.2 . I am also using Apple Mail to connect to our Exchange 2010 Server. I do the same with my iPhone, iPad, and Windows Laptop using Outlook 2013. For a while now, several months in fact, It turns out that any emails sent from my iMac using Apple mail will not store a copy of it in my sent items on the server. They are not stored in the iMac account, the iPhone, the iPad, or Outlook on my Windows Laptop. However, any email sent from the other devices will have a copy stored in the sent items folder and it will propagate to all of my devices.
Upon investigating, I found myself looking through the tracking logs of my Exchange Server and found that Apple Mail and the iPhone send messages completely differently. I think this might be the source of my problem, but I have no clue whether I can fix it, or even where to start. Here is an image depicting the logs. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you for your time!

Sometimes this issue is caused by a misconfiguration or incompatibility of the Exchange server, or perhaps by a bug in Mail. If so, you won't be able to resolve it yourself. The fact that your iOS devices may be working well with the same account isn't relevant, because iOS uses a completely different protocol (ActiveSync) to communicate with Exchange servers. By default, OS X Mail uses the EWS protocol.
Each of the following steps has been reported to help with Exchange issues, at least temporarily, in some cases:
    1. Back up all data. Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and check to make sure you don't have duplicate Exchange accounts. If you do, delete all but one of the duplicates. If there are no duplicates, delete the account and recreate it with the same settings. The messages will still be on the server.
    2. Rebuild the affected mailbox.
    3. Reindex messages.
    4. In the Keychain Access application, delete the password item for the account. The next time Mail tries to access the account, you'll be prompted for the password. Check the box to save it in the Keychain.
    5. If you've created subfolders of any Exchange mailbox, log in to the server through its web interface, move the messages out, and remove the subfolders. For best results, a mailbox should have no subfolders.
    6. Synchronize with the server using IMAP rather than EWS. This is only possible if IMAP is enabled on the server.
    7. Consider using Outlook instead of Mail to access your Exchange mail.

  • SENT items in IMAP accts present illogically.  GMAIL & MOBILEME are correct

The way email is presented in Sent Items of a user's IMAP mail account is illogical. In the left sidebar, MAIL is presenting the sent mail with the FROM name in boldface. Makes no sense, since I know they are all FROM "MYSELF", it only makes sense to differentiate them by the name of the person to whom these messages were SENT.
Also, in the main body of the email message, when viewing a SENT message, the HIDE button should not hide the TO, it should hide the FROM.
It is worth noting that on a GMAIL account and a MobileMe account, it works properly. This design flaw only occurs on an IMAP account (for me). I suppose it might affect POP accounts and others, too, but my 3 accounts are IMAP, GMAIL, and MOBILEME so I can only speak to those.

In further examination, I have found that with IMAP accounts, you can go into the Mailbox Behaviors and specify that you want the SENT ITEMS displayed from the SERVER instead of from the iPad, and that does indeed correct the problem.
But people with POP mail accounts do not have that option because their SENT ITEMS are not stored on their server, they would only be stored in their iPad.

  • Mailbox and sent items in Home view

People do not like seeing just the unread items in the Home view. We create a new panel that points to the Mailbox folder. This displays all their previous messages as well as any new ones. However, it also displays the items from the sent folder as well. Is there a way to only display the mailbox items without the sent items in the panel?

Disregard this post. The sent items can be removed from the Mailbox panel by choosing Edit on the panel, select the Display tab, and deselect Sent under Item Source.

  • Exchange "Sent Items" Missing issue in Mail

I lost my "Sent Items" mails and sync. I have looked all over this place and found nothing, but this one worked for me, I`ve taken the idea from here (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4173886?start=0&tstart=0) similiar to Calendar issue
    Open Mail
Go to the Mail > Preferences.
    Select the Accounts tab.
Remove the Exchange server account which is giving you the error messages.  This mailbox will be removed from the Mail app.
    Close Mail (cmd + Q)
Go to System Preferences and click on the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" pane, find your Exchange server account, and check the "Mail" option to re-enable your Mail (I`ve got an "unknown problem" when activating, the last resort I tried was to close current session - and retrying this step - it worked for me this way)
Your Mail should now sync properly.
    Hope it works for you

on step 5) before clicking "Mail", it`s necessary to click on "details" (on the right corner) to input your password

  • PC Suite 6.8 will not store sent items

Hello, I have updated to PC Suite 6.8 - Now when I send messages from the PC they are sent and are received OK. But will not store in sent items on the PC or the phone, yet when I send them from the phone they do store on the PC and the phone. Has anyone else had this frustrating problem? XP Pro Version 2002 SP2 same problem on 6230 and 6230i PC Suite 6.8 Bluetooth

Hello, Well where should I start. I've had considerable trouble with this problem. With a Nokia 6230 I had it working perfectly, then I updated to a later version of PC Suite and it stopped saving sent items. I checked the discussion group and some people said PC Suite does not save Sent Items. I checked with Nokia Australia and they said the same thing - even though I knew I had it working earlier??? I kept reinstalling PC Suite and miraculously the feature came back???? I then used the phone and PC Suite for about six months without any problems.
I now have a new 6120 Classic with a USB cable and everything works beautifully.

ok, this is my situation. I have Windows 7 Pro 64b and Office 2010 32b. Using Outlook 2010 with social connector installed. I have the social connector enabled in addins. I have also reindexed my files. Still nothing shows in people pane. No emails, attachements,
    nothing. Just a picture.
When I search from the start menu I can search all items related to the contact so I knows its not a search issue, also, within outlook if you select the all activites button from the contact its searches and displays all information related to contact.
Just nothing shows in people pane????
I have not installled LinkedIn, Myspace or Facebook addins. Just the social connector. Please help!

    Hi,
Do you use exchange server? If so, you should ENABLE Cached mode in your account settings.
Try to create a new outlook profile to test.
    1.    Exit Outlook.
    2.    Go to Start > Control Panel > Mail.
    3.    Click Show Profiles. Choose Prompt for a profile to be used.
    4.    Click Add.
    5.    Type a name for the profile, and then click OK.
    6.    Start Outlook, and choose this new profile.
In addition, try to update Outlook Social Connector to the latest version.

  • Sent Items Folder Showing Blank Messages After Installing Exchange Update Rollup

    Hi all,
Over the weekend I installed Update Rollup 8 on my Exchange 2010 SP2 servers.  Some users today have reported that their "Sent Items" folders in Outlook 2007 are either showing up as empty or populated with "Blank" items (depending
on how the fields are sorted).
If they login to OWA their items are all there.
The only commonality I can find between the people experiencing this issue thus-far is that they aren't using "Offline Mode" (which they should be, so I have been the support desk enabling it for the people calling in), but I am kind of curious
as to why this may have happened.  Does anyone have any insight they can share here?
Additionally, I have found the "outlook.exe /cleanviews" command which may help as well (have yet to try it on anyone's system where the problem exists), but it would be nice to know what the culprit may be.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Niko,
    Thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned in my original thread, I have not used the /cleanviews switch yet, as each person who has experienced the issue has had it resolved by enabling Offline Mode (weren't in Offline Mode to begin with).
Additionally, I have found that this issue has been around since UR 6 (see the comments section):
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/02/12/released-update-rollup-6-for-exchange-server-2010-sp2-and-exchange-2007-sp3-ru10.aspx
There are also some other threads on here where people have had similar issues that were either resolved by going Offline mode, running the /cleanviews switch, or completely removing UR 6 (like this one:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/211b662f-c5e6-4233-86b3-aaf7dd9408c5/outlook-sent-folder-all-email-items-missing?forum=outlook).
Unfortunately, as is my understanding, Microsoft isn't doing any new updates (other than security fixes) for SP2, which I'm stuck on at the moment until I remove an old archive program from my network.
So now I'm just curious as to if there may be a QFE or fix for this issue. I'll place a call to support if necessary, but I will need to grab some screenshots of users' Outlook that may still be experiencing this first.

  • Already sent items keeps coming back as sent items in Mail

already sent items keeps coming back as sent items in Mail

These are probably not sent from your account. The spammer has just ''borrowed ''your email address and is using it as the return address of the junk they are sending. If they were coming from your account they would be in the Sent folder.
They have your address. There is not much you can do about it now. They will get bored with you and move on soon.
Google '''email backscatter''' to learn more about what is going on.
FYI: People posting email addresses in an open forum like you did in your example is exactly how spammers get their victims. That is not a very good idea if you want to protect your personal info.
I suggest that you edit your post and remove your example. It is of no help and does more harm than good.

  • Sort sent items in sharedmailbox via OWA

    Hi,
I can't create rule in my sharedmailbox for sending mails in OWA.
I tried few times, but always emails are moving to default folder "Sent items"
Rules for incoming mails works great!

    Hi,
From your description, you create a inbox rule such as: after message arrives sent to test1, move it to folder "sent to test1". When you send a message to test1, this message still exists on Sent Items folder, not on "sent to test1" folder.
If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
I see many people have misunderstood the meaning of this inbox rule. I would like to explain the actual meaning of it using an example.
Here is the Inbox Rule I create on OWA shared2's mailbox:
When the message arrives, and was sent to amy01, move the message to "sent to amy01" folder.
Now administrator sends an message to shared2 and amy01 at the same time, the message arrives in "sent to amy01" folder on shared2's mailbox.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.

  • Flower in sent items header?

This afternoon I logged onto my .mac account and discovered that all of my sent items now have a picture of a flower in the header. Has anyone run into this problem and does anyone have a fix for it? I talked to someone who received an email from me and the flower does not appear on the receiving end.
    Thanks,

    Also worth mentioning:
The 'avatar' image shown (the flower in your case) is grabbed from your address book. That is true for ANY contact with an image set within (your) address book. Also, it's just a LOCAL display thing, e.g. these images are only shown within emails in mail.app on YOUR computer. They will NOT be sent to anybody else and are NOT part of the email itself.
Sometimes, people might worry about that ...
