Serial numbers and equipment

Hi,
We have a setup where materials are managed with serial numbers (through serial number profile).
An equipment record is created automatically together with each serial number.
The serial numbers are assigned manually at the time of goods receipt. The equipment master is created in background.
The problem is that the serial numbers are unique: I cannot for example not assign serial number 100000000 to both material A and B.
Is there any solution to this? Is it possible to somehow allow the same serial number/equipment number created for 2 different materials? Or is it impossible with equipment requirement at serial number profile?
Thanks,
Lars

Yes thats what i am saying...
i will explain you in detail:
First follow this path:
Spro-Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-Technical Objects-Serial Number Management-Define Serial Number Profiles..
Now check the "Indicator: Serial Number Existence Requirement" infront of your Serial number profile.....
Now maintain master data in IQ04 for both materials.

  • In which table of CRM the Serial number and Equipment information stores.

    Hi Experts
Recently I have downloaded all the serial numbers and Equipment numbers from backend system by doing the initial download of the object SERIALNUMBER and EQUIPMENT.
I can see the BDOC monitor in which all BDOC are in green ststus and R3AM1 the object ststus is also green.
My problem is I am unable to find the downloaded information in CRM system. Can anyone help me in finding out where can I get these information.
    Thanks
    Subhabrata

    Hi Subhabrata
If I understand correctly your Serial number is not linked to any equipment which can be opened using IE03.
"Serial number download functionality allows you to replicate pure serial numbers (serial numbers that are not associated with equipment) along with their associated business partners and configuration from SAP ECC to SAP CRM as objects."
    See this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm70/helpdata/EN/ad/bc673f19299d51e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
In that case you should not download object EQUIPMENT. You just need to download object SERIALNUMBER. Check the number of entries in table COMM_PRODUCT before and after download. Search for Equipment number in field PRODUCT_ID. Check table COM_TA_R3_ID with the product guid from previous search.
    I hope it helps

  • Batch no. , Serial no. and Equipment no.

    Hi Gurus,
Can anybody explain me What is the difference between Batch no. Serial no. and Equipment no.?
And how the three are related to Sales order , Delivery and Billing?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Manu

Batch : The primary purpose would be to track your products if they are manufactured in Batches. Any kind of chemicals would be an idle exmaple. After production when the GR for the material is done it has to done for plant-sloc-batch combination. Similarly before doing PGI during the delivery processing an appropraite batch has to be selected. SAP has a standard solution for auto batch determination as well. Plenty of times batches are used for some other purpose as well. e.g. for a MNC produces the same product in different countries and want to track where a particular product has been made then Batch management can be used to identify the Made in country
Serial no & equipment: This would be used for example in electrical industry or automobiles where individual item can be tracked using the serial number. The combination of material plus serial number makes and equipment . Equipments could be used to manage repairable products . So if you are into servicing then you can maintain equipments which would show the entire history ,warranty information etc
There is no relation between batches and serial numbers .They can be used independently or in conjunction depending on the products and the business
    Hope this information was useful

My assistant and I are using two Lightrooms (i.e. two serial numbers) and need to share between our two computers. I provide originals to her onto a flash drive. She tags them and returns them to me. I then copy the photos from her flash drive onto my computer and load them in my LR. The photos appear but witthout any editing or tagging. We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. This seems hard. We need advice on if it is at all possible to have two computers simultaneously working on LR . I bought her her own version because I was told at the time of purchasing that that was the only way to share. Please advise urgently! Thanks.

Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)

Good Morning.  I'm having a problem using both my Photoshop elements and premiere programs.  I've installed the programs, redeemed my code and entered the serial numbers, and created the adobe log-in.  I am able to open up the organizer without problems, but when I try to open up the photo editor (either by trying to open up the program from the main menu, or right-clicking on a photo in the organizer to edit in elements), the program asks me to sign in to adobe (which I can do and it doesn't give an an "incorrect password" or log-in ID error) then accept the terms and conditions.  When I click to accept the terms and conditions, nothing happens and the editor fails to open.  Everytime I click on the program, I get this same "loop" of signing in and accepting T&C's, but the program fails to open.  Any advice?

Premiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

  • Update Serial Numbers and Qty with bapi_outb_delivery_change

    HI All
I want to update serial numbers and quantity(delivery qty) for a delivery, this is mostly in case of short ship and over ship, I am using the BAPI for this updation, but I am getting errors to it.
I am passing the following data in the BAPI:
    HEADER_DATA -
    > Delivery Number
    DELIVERY -
    > Delivery Number
    ITEM_DATA -
    > DELIV_NUMB(Delivery Number), DELIV_ITEM(Item), MATERIAL(material), DLV_QTY(Qty what i need to update in VL02n), FACT_UNIT_NOM(as 1), FACT_UNIT_DENOM (as 1), SALES_UNIT(VRKME), BASE_UOM(MEINS)
    ITEM_CONTROL -
    > DELIV_NUMB(delivery Number), DELIV_ITEM(Item), CHG_DELQTY(as 'X') .
But I get this error message.
"serial numbers are already maintained. Quantity cannot be changed"
Please suggest how can I change both?
    Regards
    Swar

    Hi Swar
I can maybe give you insight on why you are receiving the error message in hopes in can help you go to the right direction.  In the sales order for technical objects if you are maintaining lets say a qty of 2 each serial numbers.  When you create the delivery the system passes both serial numbers to the delivery. In cases of short ship (wanting to only ship one each) go to the serial number in the file menu under extras in the delviery and  before changing qty to one each; delete the serial number you are not shipping then change your qty this works.

  • My serial numbers and activation codes don't work

Hey, anybody out there?  My serial numbers and activation codes don't work and I don't see anyway, through your menus to reach a PERSON!!
    Michelle
    Not much happening out there.

    Try the following:
    Visit www.adobe.com
Click the MENU link near the upper-right
Click the ABOUT ADOBE link near the upper-right
    Click the Contact Us link.
There are some phone numbers there you could try.  I imagine if you call Sales and say you're having a problem they might be able to transfer you to a support line, though I haven't tried it myself.
I don't think there's much help we can give you here on the forum with that particular problem, unfortunately.

  • Come one I already asked, how do i get it to accept my serial numbers and use the thing

It is improssible to use th is th ing,....... for the third time ........................How do I get it to accept my serial numbers and turn on so i can actually use it

    Hi,
Premiere Elements has it's own forum so it may be better ask your question there.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements?view=all
In version 12, activation is done by loading the editor (Photoshop or Premiere), supplying the serial number and signing in. Do not sign out as that deactivates that installation.
If you get a message that there is no Internet connection when there is, could be an indication that the hosts file has been modified in the past to stop Adobe contacting the authentication server - I don't know what would modify the hosts file to do that. If you do modify the hosts file, it is wise to take a copy first.
In your case, does the serial number get rejected or the sign on?

  • Serial Numbers and warranties functionality

    Hi Gurus,
Am new to  PM. Can somebody explain the warranties functionality and its relationships with serial numbers. How do you link an equipment to a serialized material ? What is the purpose ? Please give a simple example of what functions and benefits can be implemented on this topic.
    Will reward points,
    Cheers,
    Olivier

    Hi oliver,
1.you can link the serial no profile to material and link tht material in eqpt master record. It is used incases if you are maintaining stock of eqpts then u need to maintain material master record for the same.
2.If you have 5pumps in store the u would create material master record for pump and stock would be 05 and you maintain serial nos for the stock. You would create 05eqpts master records and use the material no in the eqpt master record.
    3. This would be helpful in scenarios link refurbishment where you r going repair of pumps.Even in scenarios where you want to send eqpt outside for repair where you can create a refurbishment on the same by bringing the eqpt from site to store using mb1a then it would be a material , create refurbishment order on that material and issue the material for the order and using PM02 control key and bring back the material to store using IW8W and issuing to site using IE4N.
    4. You maintain warranties as master warranty in eqpt mster record and in this u maintain service items and warranty counters for each service items and relationships between counters and for performance based warranty counter you need link with class characterisctis and maintian normal counter for the same class characteristics....., i think ther is no link between warranty funct with serial nos
i think this might help u

  • HT1329 How do you deauthorize ipods that no longer work or have been stolen. What does it mean that you only have 5 devices that can download your itunes library. How do you deactivte old serial numbers and add new ones as of now we only have one ipod

Over the years we have owned many i-pods. Most of them ran out of juice or were just outdated some even stolen. As of right now I have one i-pod that should be authorized to download music from my library. I plan to get a new one. My question is how do you deactivate all the old i-pods so that i-tunes doesnt think I have all these pods downloading from my personal lbrary of music. If I get a new one and plug it in it will say you are authorized 1 or 2  or whatever it is at this point to download music from this libtary. How to I get rid of all the old devices (serial numbers) that don't draw from my i-tunes library anymore?

Ipods/iphones/ipads/apple tvs are not authorized at all.
    Authorization applies ONLY to computers.

  • Inbound Delivery (WM) with Serial Numbers and HU's

    Hey,
I want to use Serial Numbers with Handling Unit Management in WM.
I want to use MIGO to GR a Purchase Order and then Auto Pack the Inbound Delivery.
I also want to be able to Auto Pack the HU's with the Serial Numbers that i enter into the WM tab of the MIGO transaction.
I post the GR of my PO and get my inbound delivery.  The delivery is Packed onto an HU ... BUT the serial numbers i enter are not present in the HU ?!?
Does anyone know if this is possible via MIGO? or is this available only when receiving IM deliveries??
    thanks,
    Adam.

    Hi Nagesh,
The process will be to use transaction MIGO for all goods receipts, therefore i would like to automate the Inbound Delivery Create AND pack process so that we minimise the amount of user input.
Once we have entered the GR for the PO i want to automatically do the following:
    1) Create the inbound delivery (which the system does because the item is going into an HU managed storage location).
    2) Pack the inbound delivery (which the system does because i set the Delivery Type to 'Auto Pack')
    3) Assign entered Serial Numbers to the HU - which at the moment is not happening.
I thought that by entering the Serial Numbers in the 'Serial Numbers' tab in transaction MIGO that these would be copied into the HU but this is not happening ?!?
(NB: I have serialisation procedure MMSL: Maintain goods receipt and issue doc. - set on my serial number profile).
We do not want to go into the Inbound Delivery and manually assign the serial numbers as this adds complexity and is time consuming for the User.
    thanks,
    A

  • Serial Numbers and Delivery not automated.

"The serial number field on the delivery is only a text field and requires user input. The actual serial numbers shipped on the delivery are not put in this field automatically by the system as you know. This is how it works. The serial number data is stored in different tables, OSRI and SRI1 and linked to the delivery document."
We have been manually typing the S/N into the delivery form so that we can have it print packing lists and invoices. Once we select the S/N for the delivery it should automatically update the delivery form.
The Delivery form does not automatically fill in the S/N once we select a s/n. Here is a scenario
1.)Select a Sales Order that has an item that requires a s/n.
    2.) Copy SO to Delivery
3.) Click Add or put the cursor in the proper row of the s/n column and hit enter. A new window showing available S/N should appear.
4.) Select the S/N, assign to this SO and click Update then OK.
5.) Repeat if more then 1 item requires a s/n.
    6) When done,  click ADD and a new Delivery ticket is created. Note at this time the S/N are not showing in the Delivery Form.
    7) You can now click Print Preview and it will show the Packing List along with a page for serial numbers. Also a Crystal Report Packing list is generated, but the s/nu2019s are not listed.
The only way we can get s/nu2019s to show on the Delivery form and in Crystal .Reports is to MANUALLY type the s/n into the Delivery form. We want to avoid typing the data, potential for typou2019s. This should be something the software  does for us.

We're wondering the same thing. Would a bar code scanner work? The data would have to be displayed on a PC or something where it could be recorded.
    Yes and no.
We have a small Bluetooth barcode scanner.  Works well if the bar codes were printed better.  I mean, the bar codes for switches/routers are "readable" but for wireless access points, you would need several attempts to get it to read.
Alternatively, you can read the bar codes from the box.  I only use this as a "last resort" because I have seen, in two occasions, that the codes in the box and the the ones from the appliance don't match.

  • Synchronization of serial no and Equipment no

    Hi,
I have a serialized material and generate equipment master whenever I do Goods posting.
Requirement: I like to set the serial number to be assigned automically and it should be the Equipment number which is going to be generated.
    Kindly advice.
    DP

    Hi DP,
I have actually used the same functionality in one of my project, what you have to do first is to define the serial number profile (which you must have already done) go to SPRO->Plant maint. and customer service-> Master data in plant maintenance and customer service and technical object->Serial number management -> define serial number profile. In that you can find your serial number profile if already craeted then selecton it and then from the right hand bar double click on serialisation procedure.
in the next screen check the entries and created the processes you want serialisation for. If you are saying its for good reciept then select MMSL and the in the field SerUsage put the entry from the drop down depending upon your requirement to make the serialisation as required or optional entry, next the EqReq is the main field where you can define if the Serial number and the equipment number will be synchronised, select 02 from the drop down.
Now make sure that for all the material for which you want the serial and equipment synchronised int he material master in the Sales:General/Plant  tab , Under general plant parameters , select the serial niumber profile and give "Ser Lev : as 1 . this will allow the syschronisation for all the equipment recieved.
But make sure that the  02 entry is made in the EqReq field in the serial number profile in spro that the key.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Serial Numbers and VBAP-ANZSN

We are using BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE to add order items, then using SERNR_ADD_TO_AU to add serial numbers to each line item.  Last update is SERIAL_LISTE_POST_AU after all serials are added.  Everything looks fine from VA42, and table SER02 reflects the correct serial number quantity in field SER02-ANZSN.  However, copy control is not working as the functional team expected because field VBAP-ANZSN contains value zero, rather than matching SER02-ANZSN.
We see that updating the document in foreground, going to extras -> tech objects, hitting green check, and saving document results in VBAP-ANZSN being updated from zero to the same quantity as SER02-ANZSN.
Any idea how to get that update without updating each document in foreground?

    Hi Robin,
For whatever it is worth, but we ran in the exact same problem while using the FM IWOL_WV_ADD_OBJECTS to add the equipments covered under the contract. Our problem was that due to the missing ANZSN field, a re-calculation was performed each time the item was accessed, resulting in a huge net value.  Luckily this was caught during testing..
Our solution was to replace the FM with a BDC which added the equipments to the contract after this was created by the BAPI.
    Good luck,
    Robert

  • What is the difference between Serial numbers and Batch management.

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain the difference between Serial Number and Batch Management in breif.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Hi,
Serial number management and batch management are different functions that can be
used in conjunction with each other.
    A batch represents a non-reproducible subset
of the total quantity of a material held in stock, which is managed separately from
other subsets of the same material.
    For Example  Different production lots
(for example, paints, wallpapers, pharmaceutical products), delivery lots or quality
    grades of a material.
whereas a serial number is a number that you give to an individual item of material in addition
to the material number, in order to differentiate between this individual piece and all
other items of the material. The combination of material number and serial number
is unique. It is not necessary to use the batch management function to use serial
    number management.

    VIjay.
