Serialization hierarchy without install base?

Hi, all.
Is it possible to create parent / child serialization linkage in SAP without employing an install base or linking them manually using COIB?
We're trying to see an "as built" structure and not having any luck.  We're creating a custom report, but even that doesn't function with production order quantities greater than 1, because SAP doesn't inherently understand the parent / child serial number linkage.
Thanks in advance.
Sarah

hi,
Creating as built configurator  with COIB is the only way.  Especially when you have production order for a qty more than one, linking the component serial number to header item serial number can be acheived only with COIB.
If not you have to build complex logic  in the custom program    ( like first serial number went in  produced the first serial number came out etc..)
cheers

  • Installed base for call center?

    Hi,
for the CIC implementation where we are going with typical call center functionality where agents handle incoming calls with inquiries and complaints, do we need the installed base? can anyone comment?
we dont have any returns or warranty for our products
we sell them, if there is a prob, we resend the product again and customer can keep both...
    thanks,

    Hi,
Installed base is basically required to keep track of products installed at customer place.
If you can verywell identify your customer place where product is installed.
    for eg.
if you install 100 printers at say XYZ company, but this 100 printers may be installed at different branches of XYZ company, it may be across different cities.
This information you cannot capture for all the 100 printers sold in any of the masterdata.
Thus you can use installed base to keep a track, how may printers installed at what location.
During incoming call u identify the BP i.e XYZ ask for the location or printer serial number (Use Individual objects in CRM) to track the printer.
If you don't have such complex scenario and also you don't need returns or warranty so u can do without installed base.

  • Equipment hierarchy with Non serialized products to Installed base in CRM

    Hi,
I have just performed an equipment download from R/3 to CRM. I now have these records created as individual objects assigned to an installed base.
However my equipment record in R/3 has Serialized Products as well as non serialized products in form of BOM (bill of material).
Example: Equipment Hierarchy (In R/3 )
10123428  Main Equipment have 2 non serialized product
199-012100         (Non serialized product under this equipment)
270-012200         (Non serialized product under this equipment)
10123429         Subordinate equipment to main equipment
                                  (Serialized  product )
340-070800  (Non serialized product under this 2nd equipment)
270-562700  (Non serialized product under this 2 nd equipment)
The Main equipment(10123428) is created as installed base in CRM successfully.
The Subordinate Serialized product (10123429) to main equipment is created as individual object under this Installed base of the Main equipment properly.
But the non serialized products (199-012100,270-012200 ) for main equipment  and non serialized products (340-070800 ,270-562700)for the subordinate serialized product are not coming in CRM .
Because When I go to IB53 transaction there is no entry in the components in the product Tab under product id column.
Has anyone replicated R/3 equipment records with BOM structure into CRM and got their Non serialized products visible in the components of the Individual objects.
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi Prabhakaran,
You can filter the data downloaded from R/3 to CRM based on the filter criteria assigned to adapter objects. You can do this via transaction R3AC1 wherein you specify the table and fields based on which you want to filter out the data.
For Serial Numbers and Equipments the business objects are SERIAL and EQUIPMENT respectively.
Reward with points if this helps.

  • Hierarchy Category for Installed Base creation

    Hi All,
We are implementing service management using CRM 5.0 and R/3. We have created some custom material types in R/3 and downloaded to CRM. In CRM configuration "Assignment per Product Type for application Product" the HierarchyID R3PRODSTY is assigned to Product Type "Material". Now, I want to assign the Object family 0401 to a category to be able to create Installed Base records. I cannot modify the Hierarchy R3PRODSTY since it came from R/3. So I created a new hierarchy "IBase" and assigned the Object family and I assigned this hierarchy to Product Type "Material". With this I am able to create a Ibase but not a product because I changed the assignment. Is there straight forward way to have object family in the Hierarchy “R3PRODSTYP" or to be able to create products and Installed Bases simultaneously? Any Input will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Uday.

    Hi Ankit ,
There is some SAP F1 Help. FROM SPRO
    That may answer your question.
    Activate Partner and Address Inheritance
    Use
In this activity, you can make the following settings for each installed base category:
Activate partner and adress inheritance for a specified number of installed base hierarchy levels
The inheritance of partners and addresses is a logical rather than a physical inheritance.
Activate calculation of geographical coordinates from address information when address data is created or changed
Enable changes to an installed base for a validity date that is earlier than the system date.
Partner assignment or address assignment is used during the search for components to take partner inheritance and address inheritance into account.
For example, this means that in the interaction center or service processes, all components can be found using the business partner.
    Default Settings
    No standard settings are provided.
The settings are optional. If you do not enter any data, the function is not used.
    Activities
To activate partner and adress inheritance, select the PInherit. or AdrInherit. checkbox, respectively, and specify the number of levels in the installed base hierachy that should inherit partners or addresses.
Note: If want partners or addresses to be inherited by all lower-level components in the hierarchy, enter 0 (zero).

  • Strategy/Value of Installed Base Hierarchies?

Hi - We are converting several thousand R/3 4x equipment master records into a new solution that will have both ECC6 and CRM 6.0 Service (as well as BI). We intend to load the equipment records in ECC and have them create ibases in CRM.
We've learned that you can create installed base hierarchies in CRM by assigning entire installed bases as components of other installed bases.  We understand it can be done but also believe our business would have to bear the cost of creating and maintaining these hierarchies manually.
We've considered perhaps doing it only for important value customers or for other reasons but we are just not sure that the value of manually creating and maintaining IB hierarchies would outweigh the maintenance cost.
We were thinking that perhaps the hierarchy would be visible in analytical processing and could perhaps be used in customer level cost to serve analysis.
Have any of you developed Ibase strategies that included hierarchy development and can you share realities and outcomes?
Thanks in advance for your input, Roberto

    Hi,
I think Installed base cannot be used in SALES scenario, hence even if you extend the sales quotation transaction type with service relevant business transaction category you cannot see the object tab in header and nor in item if you assign the item object type in ITEM CATEGORY.
Alternate solution is that you create a CUSTOMER FIELD with EEWB at header or item level in SALES QOUTATION TRANSACTION TYPE and link it with F4 help of installed base IBIB table and relevant Installed base tables in CRM.
Hope this helps. Please award Points if helpful

  • Installed Base CRM Service

    Hello!
I'm busy with the implementation of an Installed base with various attributes and set types. I have also set up an Object family which is connected to my created Ibase category and the settypes. I searched for information to get it visual in the screens when you create an Ibase and I found information about hierarchy maintenance and categories. Although I created my own hierarchy with category and I linked my settypes to it I cannot get it into process!
Can someone tell me what to do for getting this working?!! Thanks!
    Kind regards, Femke Visser

    HI Femke Visser
<b>A)</b> Assign the Object family to Install Base Category, Follow the Menu Path to assign
IMG->Customer Relationship Management ->Master Data ->Installed Base ->Individual Objects/ Object Family -> Assign Object family to Installed base Categories
<b>B)</b> Create the categories and hierarchies you require for your object families. At least one of these categories must be created within the base hierarchy for the product type Material and then assigned to the relevant object family.
    1) To create Category go to T.code COMM_HIERARCHY and <b>in the Tab "Category" you will find a field called "Object Family", choose the right Object family</b>
    2) In the Tab "Set Types" add the set types you want to include
Refer the link below, which will give some insight about the Set Types and Hierarchy and Categories

  • Identification field in installed Base-CRM Service

We are creating installed base components from ECC to CRM ie, from equipments in CS module to installed base objects in CRM.
The serial number entered in ECC flows in to CRM Service in component details tab in individual obejct automatically.
equipments created in IE01 will flow to CRM and can be viewed in ib53.
We want to copy the serial number field to identification field to enable better search capabilities.

  • Installed bases and service contracts

    Hi,
    Is it possible that:
    1. There are multiple installed bases from the same customer being covered in a SINGLE service contract document (i,e, referencing mulitple I-base objects) for the same type of service.
Example : 100 installations for the same customer being covered for the 3 free services per year through a SINGLE contract document
    2. Is there a functionality where by all the installed bases for a given customer can be seen location wise under a single tree structure ?
    Thanks,
    Dhaval.

    Hi Dhaval,
It is possible to do this.
    1. You could add all the objects under the object list assignment block in the contract item. So, here you specify that the service item is available as part of the contract for a set of objects.
    2. In this case, you could create the customer's installed base as the root and add all the installed bases under that customer in a hierarchy, while maintaining the Ibase master data. Else, you could search for Installed Base using the search criteria "Header Using Partner Data". But, this does not show a single tree structure.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do you update installed base from crm Product Hierarcy

does anyone know the steps to update an ibase from crm product hierarchy?   Can the data from the product Hierarchy be replicated to the install base via config?
    any help would be appreciated????

    Hi Shannon,
no, it's a free update. The procedure goes like this:
    1. BACKUP!!!
    2. Unplug all peripherals but your original Apple keyboard and mouse
    3. Repair permissions before and after an update! (click the link and read it!)
    4. Download and apply the Mac OS X Update 10.3.9 (Combo)
    5. After the restart repair permissions again.
Do NOT use the computer during the update!!!

  • CRM Installed base

    Hi everyone
In Installed base we can create a hierarchy of components. But in a Service Quotation, when we use an Installed base, the sub-components under that component are not seen in the Objects tab of Transaction data.
Can anyone plz offer me any fast help regarding this matter? It's urgent.
    Thanks and regards
    Debolina

    Hi Debolina,
If you want to do it programatically then you can do it by passing all the components of an IBASE to the table OBJECTS in the BAPI BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CREATEMULTI.
You will be able to see all the components in the order.
I don't think there is any way in which you can set it online.

  • Individual object settype in installed base

    Hi,
We have created many set types for individual objects. So,If I go to Individual object application I get a new tab general where all these fields displayed.
But we need those details in the installed base application itself, while clicking the corresponding individual object.
Is there any way to get it done without writing Model access class for installed base application.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Abdul Raheem .S

    Hi Abdul,
This is a new feature for CRM 5.0. To implement this in CRM 4.0 is very difficult because several components are affected. New functionality have to be implemented for the ibase access class, product (iobject) access class and for the settype generation (TA COMM_HIERARCHIE etc.).
At first the settype generation has to be modified, because if you create or change any settypes in TA COMM_HIERARCHY, several entries in the different tables of the TA CRMC_BLUEPRINT have to be generated. In CRM4.0 these entries will be generated only for the product or iobject application (both use the same access class).
Then you have to modify the product(iobject) access class: You need a method to set the product guid external and you need a method to control the display mode (if the ibase is locked, no changes at the settypes are allowed, because it is possible that someone edit them in the SAPGUI (IB52)).
At last you have to modify the access class for the ibase application to handle the product specific data. In this class you have to map the ibase component object key to the product(iobject) guid and you have to call the CHECK_ACTIVE_TABSTRIP method of the product access class before the controller with the settypes tabstrip is displayed the first time (the product tabstrip contains all entries for all settypes and with the first call the access class filters these entries ->product guid->category->settypes).
Sorry, but a simple implementation is not possible and its not recommended to modify the above mentioned transaction or access classes. In CRM 5.0 this is a standard feature in the ibase application of the pc-ui.
    Best regards,
    Oliver

An individual hierarchy for an actual device, machine or system.
An IBase can be used to group together all devices of a similar type for each customer.
    EXAMPLE
All PCs that were sold to a particular customer.
    Real time example :
What will you  do if customer  does  not know the product information ?
1.In the BP Search workspace in the application area, you can use the installed base (IBase) search to search by business partner address for product information.
A customer calls to report a problem with one of the copiers they bought from your company, but does not have the product number. You can enter the company's physical address and the IBase search will find product information about all copiers you have sold this customer that are located at the given address.
