Shared comments

I seem to end up duplicating a lot of text, especially between getters and setters and property members. I can always use the {@link} syntax but this can lead to a paper trail for the user to find the info they need, and they don't work so well when your javadoc is presented by Eclipse as a tool tip. It would be nice if Javadoc could share parts of a definition.
My suggestion is to have {@export name text} that could (for example) be used in the javadoc for a private member variable. This could then be referenced from the public getter and setter using an {@import member-reference name} tag.
public class MyClass {
      * {@export def My long and rambling definition of the myProperty property}.
      * Some other private implementation details I do not want exported.
     private int myProperty
      * {@import #myProperty def}
     public void setMyProperty(int myProperty){
          this.myProperty = myProperty;
      * {@import #myProperty def}
     public int getMyProperty(){
          return myProperty;
}

Hello Reg Whitton,
Both you messages (this and http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=751443) are interesting to me.
I believe, such things cannot be resolved directly using the standard means provided in Javadoc. Actually, both problems require certain special processing of custom inline tags, and you can do this by writing you own doclet.
However, writing an entire doclet from scratch of the quality equal to the standard one is an immense work (especially, when all you actually need is to add a few extra lines).
I suggest to look at the tool called DocFlex/Javadoc: http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_javadoc/
This is a template-driven doclet. It generates the Java API HTML documentation of the quality comparable to that of the standard doclet. It also generates an excellent RTF documentation (which the standard doclet doesn't). Most important, this tool allows easily programming all such little extra things as those you are asking here. It was specifically designed for this!
If you are not afraid of using new original technologies not necessary coming under the famous brands, I believe, this tool might be immensely helpful for you!
If you have any more questions, I'm happy to explain everything.
Regards,
Leonid Rudy

  • Sharing, commenting, and collaborating

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/story/cs/using/WSc1b83f70210cd10152ae9eb112456822b9f-8000.html

    1) An organizational observation:
    To view all these topics (and the associated sub-parts) in this "Sharing, commenting, and collaborating" section, requires a lot of link clicking. It would be better to put all or most of these topics on a single page.
    2) I think it would be good to clarify the differences between sharing documents and sharing scripts.

  • Shared Comment Problems!

    Hi, all!  My company has been using the Adobe Shared Comments feature for some time now with a lot of success but for the past month or two, we've been having a number of odd problems.
    The issue that i'm looking at now is that i have a few users that can see SOME comments but other comments are not showing up in the document. Other users can see all of the comments just fine. The users that are having the problem can see the comment placeholder icon but when they hover over it or try to click it, nothing happens. While on other comments, it works just fine. To make matters worse, it's not even confined to comments from a particular user. The people experiencing the issues can see some of "John's" comments in a particular document but not all of them.
    Most of my users are still using a Acrobat 8.x Pro, although some of them are using more up to date versions. Also, the users computer OS's vary from Windows XP to Windows 7 (i don't know if that's important but i figured i'd throw it out there).
    Has anyone out there seen this before? As this has been an ongoing problem for some time now, i'd really love to get it resolved.
    Thanks!

    Hi, Priyanja. Once again, thanks for continuing to follow up. I'll try to answer as best i can:
    This is happening on ALL reviews.
    1. So, it appears that the comments ARE readable from the Comments list. When i hover my mouse over a comment balloon in the doc, nothing shows up but i can see it in the comments list. (didn't even think to look at that, so thanks a lot for pointing that out!)
    2. I did this and it compiled all of the comments into the document but i still could not view the problem comments.
    3. I'm trying to do this step now but apparently everyone is in a meeting and i can't get access to their computers. i'll try to do this a bit later today and respond.
    The computer that i'm working on has Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed on it. Just FYI, the computer that created the document has Adobe Acrobat 8.1.0 Professional on it.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot see shared comments in Acrobat Pro Extended

    If I use Adobe Reader 10 to look at a shared review PDF, I can see a screen asking me to CONNECT. And when the PDF is open, I can see all the comments with the "Check for new comments" button at the top left side of the PDF file.
    Now they installed Acrobat Pro Extended for me the other day. When I open the same review PDF in Pro Extended, I do not see the CONNECT screen, and I do not see any comments. What's wrong with Pro Extended? Why is it not working? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Ok. Perhaps the option 'Check for updates' has been blocked by your IT department. Ask them to get the patch for you if you dont find an option.
    As far as seeing the comments in the review is concerned, if it is a review file, you should be getting a yellow bar when you open it in Acrobat/Reader. If you dont see it on opening the review file, or you dont get the Connect/Welcome dialogs, probably it is no longer a shared review file. Try with some other review files and see if you can get it working.

  • Shared Review problem for remote review SME

    One of my SMEs works offsite via a VPN connection. When she tries to participate in the shared review process from the PDF location on the network drive, she has display problems (all the text is highlighted in black) and she can't "connect" to see other's comments. The PDF displays fine if she downloads it to her hard drive she can see shared comments but of course is then unable interact with the shared process.
    She's developed an elaborate and time consuming work around, but I need a solution for her problem. She's using the current version of Reader and I'm generating PDFs using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
    This is not an issue for any of my other offsite SMEs.
    Thoughts?

    What are the instructions for Acrobat Pro v11.0.10?
    There is no option to save as "Archive copy" only "PDF-X/A" but that returns an error that it can't be saved.
    All instances of Shared Review sessions have been removed from the the "Tracker..." dialog, but I am still getting server pings. By all rights, there should be no more pings to any server. When I am actually in my network where the server is visible, Adobe is connecting without my permission.
    How can I get the server pings to completely stop in Acrobat Pro v11.0.10?

  • Acrobat Shared Review Problem

    One of my offsite SMEs cannot view PDFs I generate for Acrobat shared review. None of my other offsite SMEs report the same problem and all access the network using the same VPN. In her case, the PDF displays with the text blacked out (as though it's highlighted) and she's unable to connect to view existing shared comments or to add her comments. She's developed a work around (saving files and opening them from her hard drive), however, this removes her from the shared review process.
    She uses the most current version of Acrobat Reader and I generate my PDFs using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
    Thoughts?

    A couple of questions:
    1. Is she able to see the file contents if she chooses to work offline in the shared review by selecting 'Work Offline' option from the yellow colored bar on top in the shared review when opened in Reader?
    2. Does this occur with every shared review file that she is opening or with some specific PDFs only?
    3. Which Reader version does she have?
    Thanks,
    -Amboo

  • Document message bar not visible when participating in Shared Review

    Hi,
    I have initiated a Shared Review using Acrobat Pro 8
    Immediately after I finished sending out the notification to other reviewers, the _Review.pdf version of the document is opened for me and the Document Message bar is visible. Therefore I have the option to check for new comments, publish comments.
    My colleagues however, when they open the pdf file attachment from their email notification they get the message: "This document has been sent by a user of Acrobat 8.0 Professional for your review. To participate in this review Acrobat 8.0 standard or professional, or later, is required" Pressing OK on that message box opens up the PDF file to be reviewed however the Document Message bar is not visible (there is no Document Message bar icon on the left pane either.). Therefore my colleagues cannot publish their comments.
    I also encountered the same issue. After I close my PDF and re-open it, I cannot see the Document Message bar, eventhough I can still see my Review Tracker and the document still listed there.
    So, what did I do wrong? I started the shared review by following the prompts:
    1. Comments > Send for Shared Review
    2. Enable reviewers with Reader to participate
    3. Select a network drive to store the shared comments
    4. Select the document to be reviewed
    5. I've experiment with all the different send notifications options
    6. I specified the email address of the reviewers and sent the invite
    Thanks a lot for the help..

    Does this happen with one particular document or with all your reviews?

  • Synchroniser bug? shared reviews on Sharepoint Server

    Hope someone can help.
    We have a hosted sharepoint service which our customers use as a place to conduct shared PDF reviews. Our customers use a mix of versions 8 and 9 of Reader and Acrobat. Much of the time things work well but we are frequently running into a situation where the shared comments become lost. By that I mean in review tracker there is no listing of comments that have been made by lots of other reviewers. Some reviewers can see all ther comments but others cannot.
    What seems to be happening is that the local off-line copies of the comments on the users hard disk are being corrupted. When this happens Reader/Tracker is unable to cope and no longer manages to find the comments on the Sharepoint Server. By deleting the corrupted local comments and then disconnecting and reconnecting the shared review we can get everything working again but this is not an acceptable solution for our users. We need a way of not having the problem happen in the first place.
    The reason the local comments become corrput seems to be the synchronizer task. When we look at the local comment files instead of containing nice xml comments they actually contain the html of a sharepoint "you failed to login" web page. Our sharepoint server uses form-based authentication. In normal operation we are already logged in to Sharepoint and so we can download the PDF, view it in Reader and track comments fine.
    However the synchronizer is running outside of a browser based session. It seems to be trying to log into Sharepoint using a cached session ID but after a while this id expires and it can no longer log in. Instead of failing gracefully it actually downloads the html of the "you failed to login"web page and thus corrupts the file. From this point on Reader/Tracker no longer works correctly.
    Is this a bug in synchronizer and is there a fix available?
    Thanks.

    Amboo,  I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.3.3 and Windows XP.
    My login name is grayed out and I cannot change it. It does NOT match my
    acrobat.com login, which is [email protected]  Also, note
    in my preference categories that acrobat.com preferences is not
    available. I think it used to be...
    I did get the new 2011 TOU agreement box a few days ago, and agreed.
    Have not seen it since.
    Thanks for responding!  I am desperate to get this working!

  • Commenting and Markup Toolbar in IE

    We have created a PDF with Commenting set to Allowed. We then uploaded the PDF to a Windows Server 2003 host and put it through Pitstop. When the PDF is opened from the server in Internet Explorer, commenting is set to not allowed. When the file is saved to the desktop, commenting is also set to now allowed. Does anyone know how to allow commenting in this situation?
    We are using Acrobat version 8.1.2 on Vista SP1. The PDF is created on Mac OSX from Creative Suite version 3.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    After some more searching I realised that the commenting toolbar is missing in the browser until you use the "Send for shared review" option.
    To elaborate a bit further: It seems there are two options for making commenting possible in your PDF file.
    Option 1 is to select the "Enable for commenting and analysis in reader" option. This will reader extend the file, making it possible for a user to add comments using Reader only. However, it still doesn't make the commenting toolbar available inside the browser, so the user would have to open the PDF, save to his local machine and edit it there.
    Option 2 is to select the "Send for shared review" option. This option will take you through a short wizard to define where the shared file is stored (either on Acrobat.com or a local server). When this is done the new file (with shared commenting enabled) will open in the browser with the commenting toolbar available.
    So to solve your problem (tjfoster) I'd guess you have to apply both options to your PDF - That would make the commenting toolbar available and will allow users to save the file inside Reader.
    Let me know what happens

  • Photos Slideshow from iCloud Album Displays comments

    When projecting a slideshow from a shared iCloud album standard iCloud Photo Sharing comments box (you know the like box) appear on bottom left over the projected photos. I can't find anyway to turn this off. There are no settings for this. Must be a bug?

    When Apple support contacted, they acknowledged there was an issue with not all photos syncing
    I haven't seen any issues posted in this forum before about missing pictures in albums, which hasn't been down to the file format being incompatible with tv, take a look at the photos which are missing are they all either JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF or PNG, if not they are not compatible.
    Is any one else having problems?
    I'm not experiencing this problem at all.
    Also when trying to sync a iphoto slideshow, only the music plays on ATV, no images
    Now that is strange, for now I'm going to assume that this might be that some of the photos in these slideshows are the photos that won't show up as per above. You are probably better solving the first issue before giving this one anymore thought.

  • ITunes computer authorization failure ( tried all fixes )

    Computer authrization problem in iTunes
    Hi to all. I am having the common problem of computer authorization in iTunes, so i can't sync my iPad and transfer my purchases. I have read about all the "popular" fixes and none of them worked. I am listing them here for others to try ( google them for more info as i will not describe in detail ) :
    1. Delete the SC info folder ( Users/Shared)
    Comments from my problem : I do NOT have an SC info file!
    2. Deauthorize/Reauthorize this or all computers and sign in again..
    Comments from my problem : Did that, did not work.
    3. Uninstall and reinstall itunes
    Comments from my problem : Did not try that. Any comments on that?
    This is a real problem of the apple community and apple should do something about that, as we are paying gold to buy their products. The support should be faster. This has been going on for a while now.
    Thank you in advance,
    George

    Doublechecking. In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you also worked through the instructions from the following document?

  • API for third party apps

    Great product!!!
    I could use it to importa psp in SIlex website builder (both open source and cloud based)
    So my question is : is there an API??

    On the integration with Dropbox or Google Drive - I don't know if we'll be able to integrate with them or not. But, we're going to be integrating Parfait with Creative Cloud, which has it's own file store/sync/share service called Creative Cloud Files, or CC Files for short. CC Files already has sharing, commenting, versioning and sync features.
    In the next few weeks, CC Files will be adding support Folder Sharing, which would allow you to invite others on your team to share the files you create in the shared folder. Parfait will save its assets into your shared folder, so those people that you invite will be able to access them too.
    How does that workflow sound to you? Do you think it will meet your needs?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

  • AIRHelp product roadmap?

    There is a lot of enthusiasm for AIR Help and the early adopters have made some good suggestions! Does anyone know if Adobe plans continued updates to AIR Help, and if so, how to get feature requests to them? Is there a product roadmap? For example, we are stalled until there is a way for us to handle end user comments over the internet (the way Adobe can with some of their product help), and whether we can virtualize the system (using Endeavors). I'm planning for next year's deliverables and would love to know whether particular problems are being solved and we can move forward with AIRHelp. thanks -Dee

    Only Adobe know their plans and it is their policy not to publish them so no one can answer the question here. I don't doubt there will be changes but what they are is something else.
    Submitting feature requests is easy.

    When you talk of sharing comments over the internet, do you really mean internet or an intranet? If the latter, there is a solution on my site.
    Can't help you on virtualisation. Perhaps if you explain a bit more.

  • Text grouping for HTC 8x

    I have seen some other posts on this thread.  I received an 8X on Friday and had to return it on Monday.  I use texting to collaborate on ideas with other developers, and to carry on comments with family members.  According to HTC, Verizon specifically ordered the grouping of texts feature turned off.  An 8X at other carriers contains this feature, as does my HTC Trophy.  This is a very important feature for me.
    I need a Windows phone to test program development.  The Customer Service rep made it very clear to me.  It is Verizon's policy to have the text message grouping OFF, and it WILL NOT be restored.  To do so only requires a firmware update ( done wirelessly ), but unlike every other phone they carry, Verizon will not make this available.  Not one CS could explain why, and all media inquiries on the topic have gone unanswered for the past 2+ months.
    I really don't want to move to another service, but like all the other people who have shared comments on various forums on this very topic, I need a Windows phone, and I need the grouping feature.
    No, there are no workarounds.   Several support people have tried.  In fact, the rep at HTC actually had both the ATT and Verizon phones in front of her, and the ATT version has it installed while Verizon does not.
    I hope this clarifies all of the questions that have been asked here.  Whoever made the decision when requesting the build is not budging on this subject, and there is apparently no hope of a resolution.  The same feature was turned off in the Lumia ( though it is available on the Trophy ).
    I'm really sad because I don't want to move from Verizon, and I really liked the phone, but the end result is that my business must come first.
    Message was edited by: Tim S  Would Verizon like to elaborate on this situation ?

    That is because Verizon offers Verizon Messages
    http://products.verizonwireless.com/index.aspx?id=fnd_verizon_messages
    My guess is Verizon doesn't want to be left out from popular free message apps such as WhatsApp, facebook app or other similar ones which are replacing standard text messages, so Verizon had to find a new way to make money by making their customers suffer more
    There is no VM app in the Windows store but there is one in the Google play store. You can take a look at it to see how it works

  • IPhone 3GS shutting down randomly...

    Hi,
    I was wondering if someone has experienced an issue where an iPhone 3GS shuts down randomly. The issue started tonight just a few minutes ago, the only thing I installed yesterday was iOS 5.0.1. Personally, I don't know what has happened, I do know that my brother has downloaded some songs using the Download Lite App from the App Store. Curiously the issue started occuring after the downloaded one song using that app, but other than that I can't find a problem indicator.

    I also having the same issue with my iPhone 3GS with iOS 5.0.1, except most the day went by okay for me until near the end of the day. Perhaps I don't use my iPhone as frequently as you guys are but when I really on to something on it, it just shuts down like a Window virus. (hehe)
