SHELF LIFE CONFIGURATION ISSUE

Dear Guru
I have an issue regarding shelf life material. I want that SLED should be calculate only for those material for which i have maintain shelf life data in material master.
but  when i am trying to confirm process order for finished goods for  which  I have maintained batch  but not maintained shelf life data , system is calculating SLED for that also.
I have done configuration for shelf life like
1 maintain period indicator
2 set exp date check at plant level & movement type.
it is working fine for those material for which i have maintained shelf life data in mat. master but giving error in finished good's process order confirmation for which we have  not  maintained any shelf life data in material master.
error  showing during confirmation is "SHORTFALL OF 120 DAYS AGAINST SLED IN CURRENT ITEM (18.03.2011)."
waiting for your reply......
RAJ.....

Dear Suleman
thanx for your reply,
Yesterday I have already resolved this issue by my own efforts.  you are also correct , in finished goods batch someone has entered expiry date. I have removed that date & now it is working fine. anyway i am giving you award for your correct reply.....

  • How to check Vendor issue stock shelf life

    Hi,
As I know, Tcode--MB5M is for checking shelf life for normal stock material.
The question from our user is to check the batch shelf life which has been transferred from our restrict stock to vendor issue retrict stock. MB5M seems not make it...
    Thanks a lot.
    Bryan

    Hi Pankaj,
Thanks firstly. But Tcode-MBLB is for checking the stock in subcontracting.
What I am seeking for is a transaction to check the shelf life of the stock. ( In our system, we use batch management..So the exact question should be that how to check the shelf life of batch which is under subcontracting stock.)
If you try Tcode-MB5M, you would know this tcode is for checking batch shelf life under normal stock, but it could not used for checking the shelf life of batch under subcontracting.
    Thanks alot.

  • Shelf Life Issue

    Dear SAP,
We have a scenario where we maintain the shelf life of a finished product is for 24 month, which we maintained in Master data also. But some time we know that the shelf life will be less as per maintain in master date, so will change the shelf life to 20 month, but later after doing GR it come back to 24 month which should not be happen, it should remain 20 month only for that batch. So how we can track in Standard SAP.
    Regards
    Asif

Hi Asif, I got it now! I try to explain.
This is because expiration date check setting in SPRO. The path is as below
SPRO > Logistic - General > Batch Management > Shelf Life Expiration Date (SLED) > Set Expiration Date Check
When I refer to F1 help, I get below information
For a further goods receipt for a batch, the shelf life expiration date entered or determined with the movement is compared with the one from the batch master record. If the dates differ, a warning or error message is issued, depending on the system settings.
If the goods receipt is posted despite any warning, the old shelf life expiration date in the batch master record is overwritten by the new one
So, system is executing the check for calculating expiry date at the time of GR. You can do either of following in your case
Change the expiry date in batch master after goods receipt
    Or
Modify the SPRO setting. You can explore the possibilities specified under above path
    Or
You can set up customer exit to calculate expiry date based upon your logic.

  • Batch creation Date of Manuf and Shelf life issue

    Hello,
I am having issues when batch gets created during Process order Creation/Confirmation.
The issue is when the Batch gets created on creation/confirmation(101 GR) the field "Date of Manuf" is not populated on the batches(with todays date) which I checked in MSC3N.
Because of this the shelf life is not getting populated(based on Shelf life data from MM) and is causing my Batch determination process to not work in Sales order/Delivery.
Can anyone tell me if there is a config or master data set up
    1) which will either populate the field "Date of Manuf" automatically(when I do GR or Usage)
    or
    2) If it can give a pop up during Quality Inspection(usage) or Process order confirmation that will force someone to enter the Date of Manuf.
Also when I check my classification tab for the batch(in MSC3N), the classification data does not gets created, which afffects my Batch determination process during Sales order/Delivery process.
I have to manually go in the Batch(MSC2N) and enter todays date for Date of manuf and create classification data.
Any Ideas what the issue is?
    Thanks
    SAP Fans...

Hi, what you can do i set total shelf life in Plant Data / storage 1 view in the material master. In such way the date of manufacture will be required field to enter when you produce material. Shelf life date will be calculated automatically based on the total shelf life mantained. In some transactions (we are using MFBF) when total shelf life is populated in the material master, the date of production is defaulted in the transaction (with the current date), you can check if this is applicable in your scenario.
    Best Regards, Peter
Hi, in addition to that you can check transaction OMCV - here you can activate automatic batch classification per movement type - so the batches can be classified automatically by SAP

  • Check shelf life date by customer when goods issue

    Hi
Since each customers will required to have different remaining shelf life of the product when deliver to their store such as 7-11 may required 100 days, Tesco Lotus 150 days so the manufacturing and trading companies of foods & beverage needs to control shelf life of their product by customer.
In general , shelf life is set in material master - storage view so it's not attach to each customer - anybody know how to apply it?
    Pls help
    Regards,
    Chanchana

    Hi,
You can control this via batch determination. Using condition technique, you can set the desired length of remaining shelf life for each of your customer (I mean you can create a condition record for each of them with the suitable parameters).
    Please check these links:
    http://www.renet-web.net/2008/09/05/sap-batch-determination-made-easy/

(As per my best knowledge you won't be able to consider remaining shelf life during planning.)

  • Shelf life from material master not flowing into purchase order

    Hai friend
I have set a shelf life value in material master ( both minimum & Total shelf life).
But while creating purchase order, values are not flowing from material master to purchase order.
    The field is empty.
    How to configure, please help.
    Regards
    Rammohan

    1.activate batch management
2.to calculate SLED production date/date of goods receipt is mandatory during GRN
3.Maintain characteristic for production date MCH1 - LFWRT
    4.assign this to class
    5.Maintain this class to material
6.Now do GR ,it will prompt for production date .based on this ,sytem will calciulate SLED
    hope it helps

  • Shelf Lif of a material

    Dear ALl
System should not allow to issue a material whose shelf lie is expired?
Can you suggest any soultion for this?
    Pl update ASAP
    Manoj

    Hi,
During creation of  Material in MM01.....In Gen Plant data/storage 1 view, Maintain required values in the Field of .....Total Self Life ( lets say 90days) and in Min. Remaining shelf life  ( is 60days).....
When you do GR for this material the System will ask for Date of Production of material( u enter here0 ...from that the system automatically calculates it SLED....and it checks the Remaining shelf life Expiry Date also...and if it falls earlier than that...the system will give you Error message and will not allow you to Post the GR...(example:1, If ur receiving today ie..27.03.2008 and production date is 29.01.2008{  falls within 60days, then system will post GR, example:2, If ur receiving today ie..27.03.2008 and production date is 12.01.2008{ not falls within 60days} , then system will not post GR.

  • Doubts in Shelf life scenarios........

    Hi All,
I have some doubts regarding Shelf life scenarios:-
    1. In material master there are 2 fields in Plant/stor.1  view those are Min. rem. shelf life and Total shelf life.
the field "Total shelf life" is ok. this field means in how long the perticular product will get useless and we can decide it at the time of material master creation for ex. for a perticular material it may be 30 days or 4 months etc.
but how can be decide the field Min. rem. shelf life bcoz as I know its mean How many days are remaining to get the product useless.and we can decide this field, if we know the manufactring date of product and  total shelf life. hence we can calculate it
as suppose total shelf life for a product= 30 days
                       Manufacturing date =  1 jan 2010
                       current date =  20 Jan 2010
so  Min. rem. shelf life   =  10 days
but here in material master how to calculate Min. rem. shelf life, and why its mandatory field, if we put Total shelf life field.
2.whats the use of Rem. shelf life field in po or what will its impact, while shelf life is only provide the impact to GR.
3.In GR,its mandatory to put the date in the field "Date of Manufacture" or we can get it any other ways excluding batch.
4.In GR there are a field "Shelf Life Exp. Date" ,we can get through Date of Manufacture (from gr) + Total Shelf Life (from Material  Master) here again then whats the use of "Min. rem. shelf life" field  shows in Material master and PO.

    Hi Himanshu,
I mean if a goods are recived under the expiration date and min shelf life is also ok.
First of all no business will allow to receive already expired date into the premises.
but goods are issue at that time when date has been expired,so how this scenario is run/maintained.
At this instance system will throw an error while Goods issue " Goods expired , kindly check expiry date".
    Hope this helps.

  • Shelf Life Expired Material will automatically be transferred to block stk

    Hi,
We have purchased a material, RM u2013 XYZ, Qty u2013 5000 kg, Mfg date u2013 01.06.2010 and Expire date is 30.09.2011. The material was received on 25.06.2010. Presently the stock of material is lying as unrestricted type.
I want to know that when the shelf life of the material will be expired, the material will atomically be transferred to block stock. How do I configure the same?
Further, is there any standard alarming system as to know the shelf life of material is going to be expired?
    Regards,
    Amit

The problem is that the section of the program (QA07) that blocks the stock  runs first.  Therefor all "expired" stcok within the time frame specified is moved.  When the program runs the section to create inspection lots, it will only take into consideration stock that is in unrestricted stock.  Since the stocks have already been moved to blocked stock, there is no stock in unrestricted inventory and hence no inspection lots.
In your case, in the section "Batch status change when expiration date is reached"  you need to untick the "Block batch" and remove and values iin "Initial run in days" in this section.
In the section above that tick on "Block batch at inspection date" and maintain a value in "Initial run in days".
This will have the effect of creating lots when the next inspection date falls within the window specified and will move the material to blocked stock on the inspection date.
Keep in mind that this is all working on the "Next Inspection Date" of the batch.  Not the expiration date.  So you should have a process to keep the next inspection date and the expriation date in sync.
To cover yourself and make sure that batches are blocked if the expriation date is reached, set up QA07 to run again immediately after the above job.  In the varinat for this run, tick back on the "Block batch" and set a value in the "Initial run in days".  This will then block any stocks missed in the inspection lot creation process above.
Also see the folowing threads which explain the deadline mointoring program.  There is a lot of info on this process on the net.

  • Check shelf life while GI

    dear all,
I have configured batch determination for raw material to produce a SFG. I have mentained shelf life period for that raw material.
I have also mentained sort rule characteristic LOBM_VFDAT.
But when we do backflush for this raw material system also selects batches which are expired ie whose shelf life is comleted.
I want to restrict those batches which are expired for GI. how can I achieve this? Is any configuration i am missing?
    S J

    Dear SJ,
Deadline montoring has two pieces to its program. The top section is the section for creating inspection lots. It uses the next inspection date.
The second section handles actual expired material. It uses the batch expiration date. If you don't want to create inspection lots, leave the window value null in the first section and don't activate any 09 inspection types.
The deadline monitoring program will first, (if a value is in the window field of the second section. sj - make sure you enterred at least a one here.. that might be why its not working for you), look at batches in unrestricted inventory and will move them to blocked stock if they will expire within the window value of days. i.e. if you but 10 in as the window value, it will move all batches to blocked stock that will expire in the next ten days. You do not need any QM active to utilize this part of the program.
After moving batches to blocked stock, it then looks at unrestricted inventory for batches that will reach their next inspection date within in the window specified. If the 09 inspection type is active, it will create an inspection lot and handle stock according to the selected radio button.
Keep in mind that if a batch reaches the inspection date and expiration date at the same time, the batch will be in blocked stock with no inspection lot since the expiration portion of the program runs first.
I usually set up the program to run twice, first to just create inspection lots, and then second, to move expired material.

  • Shelf life monitoring - user exits

    Hi Experts,
We are trying to implement shelf-life monitoring for certain material types. Before i place my question, i'll try to explain the scenario as clearly as i can.
For one plant and a fixed number of storage locations we're supposed to display an error message "Enter Production Date" if it is not entered while goods movement is performed (issues, receipts or transfers) (MIGO,MB01, MB1B). Whether the materail is being issued to or received from the required storage locations this message needs to be shown.
To effect this I have implemented the user-exits EXIT_SAPLVBMD_001 and EXIT_SAPMM07M_001. The logic that I have used works fine for the case when the receiving storage location is one of the storage locations to be checked, but when it is the issuing storage location that the problem arrises- the issuing storage location's value is not captured in the exit EXIT_SAPLVBMD_001 and since the conditions fail the exit is not processed at all. Further, only the exit EXIT_SAPMM07M_001 satisfies the conditions that we wanna check. As a result of this, the message "Enter production date" does appear but the field to enter the date is greyed, i.e. the transaction doesn't allow me to enter the date.
I would like to know if I included MSEG in the Importing tab of the function module by checking the pass value check box, would i get the value of the issuing storage location in this exit as well? If this wont work, then I'm clueless to proceed with my requirement. Please spare me your opinions. Helpfull answers will be amply rewarded. Thanks for the patience you have shown to read the whole scenario.

I hvae found a work around way for this.

  • Batch shelf life expiry date at Plant level

    Hi All,
We have a requirement from the client to maintain Batch shelf life at plant level.
Current process: Batch shelf life expiry date is maintained at the global level.
Requirement: Shelf life data to be maintained at Global level and plant level both.We want flexibility to maintain shelf life both at Global level and plant level .
If any one has worked in this scenario then kindly throw some light to resolve this issue. And also let me know if we move ahead to maintain shelf life data at  global n plant level then which all the area it will get effected in other stream reagrding shelf life best before date.
This is very critical requirement from client prospective as we have legacy system involved like LIMS & COREDB.
Your valuable input will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks n Regards,
    Vikas Soni.

    Hi Vikas,
A doubt out of your query,
How the expiry date is maintained Globally .
Whenever a GR is done then the expiry date will be tagged to the particulat batch & the expiry date is valid for the batch in the particulat plant. Am I right?
    Thanks & regards

  • Shelf life view not coming in material master

    Hi,
I have one issue, we want to create some material with shelf life  as per presernt setting  in OMT3E  it is as below
    01     *     *     *     T1
    01     *     HAWA     M     21     Std ind.(short) tab pages
    01     *     HERS     *     T1
01     *     LEER     *     BE     Std Ind Tabs for Empties
    03     *     *     *     23     Std retail: tab pages
    03     *     COUP     *     R1     Retail Coupons
    03     *     PLAN     *     R2     Retail Articles (Planned)
i have check in the transaction for the first screen sequence  T1 is not present in our system but in OMT3E  i am not getting any error msg.  then i hva echeck for screen sequence 21  in this the shelf life fields are there in the OMT3  transaction ,  but when i am creating material master  I am not getting shelf life fields in material master I have also check in MM01 debugging in the field it is T1 in the field V_T133S-REIHF-BILDS, but this screen sequence is not present in OMT3  so in which screen sequence i have to do the required modfication so that the shelf life field will come in the material master.

Are you in a ERP system or in a industry solution?
is it a standard material type like ROH and FERT, or a customized own material type?
I have rarely been im OMT3, which I usally need to do when adding own subscreens with Z.fields.
You are talking about standard SAP fields, so the screen sequence should not really be the place to check.
I think it is pure customizing of field selection.
What is your material type?, what is its industry, what is the transaction you use for maintenance?
