Signal in interval
Hi
I'm using NI PCI-60l40E to acquire current. I have 9 inputs which for each one I must check if the amplitude of the signal stays between [-x,x] (x is constant that I get from a .txt file for example x = 0.2) for 100 milliseconds according to the result I get a Boolean (true or false). My problem is that I can't follow the signal for 100 milliseconds because I can't extract the time from my signal which is a dynamic data and I don't want to use arrays to avoid memory saturation because I will have more inputs later.

Hi again Mike, I really appreciate your help
Well I've tried your suggestion and it works. But let me give you more details, after switching off a contact I'll have a switch bounce phenomenon which I'm supposed to measure the time that it takes and after that I must check that my waveform stays in range for 100 msec, that's why I need to extract the abscissa (from the X axis) of the point just after the bouncing of the signal and start tracking my waveform starting from that time. I've attached a photo to explain more. Thanks

Hi!
I try to configure a Cisco 5508 Wireless controller and 25 Air-lap1041 to use as VoIP and data. I read documents, manuals, etc, but the AP doesn't charge the configuration, or not conect with the Wireless Controller, why? No Radius server present, only WPA security.howto, please...
I try to put a static ip in the LAP, with lwapp or capwap command, (LWAPP/CAPWAP ap ip address direccion mascara) and the AP returns "You should configure Domain and Name Server from controller CLI/GUI." and i can't change the name of the AP (Command is disabled).

Hola:
I buy a gigabit switch. I connect the service-port to gigabit switch, and laptop to gigabit switch. I used 192.168.1.x ip address (192.168.1.157 to service-port and 192.168.1.233 to wired port on laptop, well, the laptop has two ip adress, 192.168.1.233 and 209.165.200.2, and the laptop works ok. Ping to 209.165.200.230 -ip address of management interface- and ping to 209.165.200.203 -ip address for AP, is assigned by DHCP of WLC. And i connect the ap to gigabit switch, and the wlc assigns well an ip direction.
I post the run-config and sysinfo log. The gigabit switch is tp-link model tl-sg1005d, no configuration.
Before the logs, I see this message from AP:
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Hola:
He comprado un switch gigabit.
*Apr 19 23:10:20.211: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: This AP is not supported in controller
version 6.0.199.4 ---->What's mean that? Is it compatible the ap with the WLC? ¿Es compatible el AP con el WLC?
Un saludo

Guest wireless in 7.0.98 hitting the splash page
I have set up Guest wireless before with my own customized splash screen for local authentication on version 5.xx on a 4404 controller.
I have the same task again but this time with a 2201 controller and the latest ios.
Try as hard as I can i cannot get a guest wireless user to hit the splash page where it gives the certificate warning or past that to the login box.
Is there some subtle difference in the set up with 7.0.98. I did notice that when setting up the DHCP scope for the 7.0.98 i had to use the DHCP server IP as the managment interface. On my last try with 5.x I used the 192.168.80.1 address (the guest WLAN) So there is a difference right there.
Anyway the clients get an IP address so no issue there but i cannot get the cert warning up let alone the splash page. Eveidently there is a tick box I am missing. I wouldnt mide but having done this a few times before I am really stumped. I have wiped the config and started again going through my old notes step by step plus digging out the cisco documentation.
If there any debugging I can stick on please let me know.
Thanks,
NeilThank you :-) Hopefully I have captured everything you need.

MPLS TE Link Protection with FRR
Hi Sir,
Due to inconsistent result during my customer UAT TE link FRR. All the 3 PEs (C7609) link are connected in triangular (three different POPs). From PE-to-PE it's interconnected via DWDM devices. In this scenario, how can we know what type of mechanism is being used to detect GE link failure?
From my understanding, the router can issues thru' an IGP advertisement or an RSVP message.
Need to clarify with your expertise on ip rsvp configuration below, whether can use in our environment and to improve the link detection or not?
# ip rsvp signaling refresh interval ... (default 20ms; 10-30,000ms)
# ip rsvp signaling hello interface
# ip rsvp signaling refresh misses (default 4)
# ip rsvp signaling hello dcsp
If not, what is the alternative or leave it default with FRR configuration as below;
interface Tunnel1
description *** Primary TE Tunnel to SKBMPLS1GW ***
ip unnumbered Loopback0
tag-switching ip
tunnel destination 172.18.255.3
tunnel mode mpls traffic-eng
tunnel mpls traffic-eng autoroute announce
tunnel mpls traffic-eng priority 1 1
tunnel mpls traffic-eng path-option 1 explicit name path1_SKBMPLS1GW
tunnel mpls traffic-eng path-option 2 dynamic
tunnel mpls traffic-eng record-route
tunnel mpls traffic-eng fast-reroute
TQUse the RSVP timers for fast TE Tunnel re-optimization, that is when your existing tunnel fails, then doing a state timeout and signalling a fresh LSP on a different path to the tail end.
FRR will depend on the Link failure and the moment a link falure is detected it switches to the pre-configured backup tunnel, as it cannot wait till the Tunnel re-optimization happens as it has to provide the healing in sub 50ms. And the sub 50 ms value cannot be achieved relying only on Tunnel Re-Optimization. So RSVP is used to signal that the specific primary Tunnel requires protection in the RSVP path messages.
So you can keep you current FRR configuration to what it is right now, and changing the default RSVP timers wont help you to achieve or reduce the FRR healover times (close to 50ms).
The kickin of FRR would depend on the interface status when it goes down, which is dependent on LOS to be received from your DWDM device. And this will happen much faster than the RSVP hello misses.
HTH-Cheers,
Swaroop

Channel utilization - show ap auto-rf 802.11b
Question on the command "show ap auto-rf 802.11b <ap_name>". What is the period of time that is measured for:
Channel Utilization.......................... 64 %
I am seeing high channel util. on certain AP's, but standing directly below the AP w/ spectrum analyzer, I see much lower util.%:
Basically, wondering if the measurement is from the exact time I launch the command, or if it's over say a 10 sec. period?

Two signals on two outputs with specific time interval
I cant manage with following:
Have NI-6251 card. Trying to sent two step-signals on two outputs with
specific time interval, say 1 to 10 ms with 1us accuracy.
How can I start?
Thanks!Hi Anonymous,
What do you mean by step-signals? Do you mean a signal that steps up the voltage over time, a step function signal that is zero until a certain time then goes to 1, or a pulse train?
In the meantime you can find examples for getting started in the NI Example Finder by selecting Help » Find Examples
When that opens you can limit the examples to ones that are compatible with your hardware. In the bottom left corner select your hardware and check the Limit results to hardware box.
Browse to Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx » Digital Generation or Generating Digital Pulses.

Min/ Max interval data storage
OK, so what I am trying to do is scan 2 voltages at 3K, temporarily write that data to a file or buffer, read the min and max values, and log those to a file once per minute. I'm at the point where I can scan and display the data, but really don't know where to go next. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

NI-6343-2CH VDC min-max.vi 45 KBYou only need a single loop. You can use the "elapsed time" express VI to signal when time has elapsed, and simply use a case structure to append the averages to the data before writing (in the false case just wire the current data across). You should also open the file before the loop, append inside the loop, and only close the file once the loop completes. You can use the min&max ptbypt VI to keep track of the min and max for each interval or just keep track of it using a shift register.

New router WRT160N, but still same poor signal!!
Hi all,
Been having issues with my wireless signal being poor and/or intermitent. I won't pretend to be computer literate, but I asked a Techie friend about this, and he suggested that I but a new router with the "N" signal.
My desktop signal is fine, but i have 3 laptops, and can be 30 feet away and get a fair/poor signal. When I go into the bedroom, which is upstairs, and in the furthest distance away from the router, the signal gets even weaker.
My Techie tried everything to bump up the signal, trying all channels, and even moved the router around the room. No luck!!
My house isn't made of steel, so there is no logical explanation for this... is there?
Please help me, and remember...I'm not real swarthy with the computer jargon,
thanks very muchTry to change the Wireless Settings on your Router as mentioned below, i think it will improve the wireless signal strength on your computers.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
- Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
- Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect... -
Hi!
I have a continuous sample data acquistion VI created. I collected an ECG signal from electrodes connected to an ELVIS unit. Once I viewed my signal, I am curious to determine the heart rate. I need to know how I can find the R-R interval, as well as the time over than span, so I can roughly determine the heart rate, continuously. Each time a new ECG wave occurs, the heart rate should be modified automatically. Some algorithm is required.
Thanks!Hello bmeecg,
Welcome to the NI forums! If I understand your question correctly, you wish to calculate the instantaneous heart rate from your ECG (the inverse of your R-R interval). I would recommend using the Peak Detection vi (Functions Palette»Signal Processing»Signal Operation) to determine the location of the R wave (since it is the largest magnitude, you could set a threshold above your P and T waves so that it only picks up the R wave). The calculation for time is in the detailed help for the Peak Detection vi (Ctrl+H»Hover over the VI»Detailed Help).
I also found this forum which has a VI that reads an ECG and then does a lot of analysis. Maybe this would help you out as well.
And just FYI, the Counter/Timer forum is oriented toward our counter/timer boards (e.g. the PCI-6602), the Multifunction DAQ forum probably would have more of the type of people that could help with this issue.
However, please post back here if you have more questions about this.

Generated Pulse waveform is distorted when I deliver the signal to the output port in the DAQmx
Problem: Generated Pulse waveform is distorted when I deliver the signal to the output port in the DAQmx.
Environment: Windows XP sp3 (32bit), Visual Studio 2010 sp1, NI-Measurement Studio 2010
Device: NI - DAQmx PCI 6251
Analog Input: 1.00MS/s multi-channel (aggregate)
Analog Output: 2 Channel 2.00MS/s
Reference Example: AO_ContGenVoltageWfm_IntClk / AI_ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk
Generated Pulse:
1) AO0 = Square Waveform /0-5V / 8KHz / 0.5㎲/sample / sample 50% Duty
2) AO1 = Square Waveform /0-5V / 8KHz / 0.5㎲/sample / (Reverse Image)
Description: I’d like to deliver the waveform stream satisfied with specified constraints to the 2 channel output port in the DAQmx. To verify accuracy of the generated waveform, I did an electrical wiring from the Analog output channel (2 channels) to the Analog Input channel (2 channels) in DAQmx. As a result of this experiment, I could get a result which has signal distortion. Since the waveform has to satisfy with both high frequency (8KHz) and very short moment interval time (△t = 0.5㎲/sample) between samples, I cannot handle some parameters of the function in the referenced VC++ example. Following formulas shows an approach to deliver the generate pulse waveform to output port satisfied with constraints.
Analog Output Channel
Frequency = 8,000 cycles/sec (constraint)
Sample per Buffer = 2,000,000 = 2*106 samples/buffer
Cycles per Buffer = 80,000 cycles/buffer
Sample per Channel = 1,000,000 = 1*106 samples/channel
Sample Rate = Frequency * (Sample per Buffer / Cycle per Buffer)
= 8,000 * (2*106 / 80,000) = 2*106 samples / sec
△t = 1 sec / 2*106 samples / sec
= 0.5 * 10-6 sec/sample (constraint)
Buffer Cycle = Sample Rate / Sample per Channel
= (2*106 samples / sec) / (1*106 samples/channel)
= 2 channel / sec
Analog Input Channel
Sample per Channel = 1,000,000 = 1*106 samples/channel
Sample Rate = 1 MS/s * (2 Channel) = 5 * 105 Samples / Sec
Program Code
AO_ContGenVoltageWfm_IntClk / AI_ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk (VC++ Example)
Result: The proposed approach was implemented in the experiment environment (VS2010, MStudio2010). As shown in Figure 1, we could get the unsatisfied result. Although I intended to make a ‘square’ pulse wave, the result looks like ‘trapezoid’ pulse wave (Figure.1). However, there is other result which was undertaken with different parameter condition. It looks like the square shape not the trapezoid shape.
Please let me know what the conditions make the problem of signal distortion. (AO0 = Green line / AO1 = Red line)
[Figure. 1] Frequency 8000 Hz / Cycle per Buffer = 8000 Result
[Figure. 2] Frequency 1000 Hz / Cycle per Buffer = 1000 Result
Questions: Please let me know following questions.
1) Is it possible to deliver the generated pulse wave satisfied with constraints (f= 8KHz), △t = 0.5㎲/sample) to the output port without distortion using PXI 6251?
(Is it possible to solve the problem, if I use the LabView or MAX?)
2) Are there some mistakes in the proposed approach? (H/W or S/W program)
3) What is the meaning of the Cycle per Buffer?, It could effect to the result?Hi Brett Burger,
Thanks for your reply. For your information, I have set the sampling rate as 10000 as for the sound format, I have set the bits per sample as 16 bit, the rate as 11025 and the sound quality as mono. I tried using your method by changing the sampling rate as 8K but still my program encounter the same problem.
I wish to also create a button that is able to generate a preformatted report that contains VI documentation, data the VI returns, and report properties, such as the author, company, and number of pages only when I click on the button. I have created this in my program, but I am not sure why is it not working. Can you help troubleshoot my program. Or do you have any samples to provide me. Hope to hear from you soon.
Many thanks.
Regards,
min

Hello,
I am using Analogue module PXI 6713 A[5] pin in PXI
chassis 1044, to generate a Glitch( amplitude 1.2V with a depth of 0.5V) on a DC signal. The glitch on the DC signal
through A[5] pin is achieved in the following way.
Method 1: (Please refer Glitch_2ms.JPG and VMON_Ramp.vi
files)
1) Start generating the DC signal from 1.2V.
2) Once it reaches the 1.2V start decreasing the voltages
in steps of 0.1V until it reaches 0.5V.
3) Once it reaches 0.5V start increasing the voltages in
steps of 0.1V until it reaches 1.2V.
Repeat steps 1 , 2 and 3 ...
This way I am able to achieve the glitch width of 2ms
with a decrease of 0.1V /interval. But I would like to achieve the glitch of
width 1us or 10us. I followed below steps to generate the minimum glitch width.
Method 2: (Please refer Glitch_180us.JPG and
VMON_Ramp_debug.vi files)
1) Start generating 1.2V DC signal.
2) Immediately generate 0.5V DC signal.
Repeat steps 1 and 2.
But the glitch width I could able to achieve is only
180us which doesn’t meet my requirement of 1us.
The Labview source code for both the
methods are attached.
Could you please give your inputs in order to achieve the
glitch width of 1us order.
Thanks.
Sincerely,
Srinath.

VMON_Ramp_debug.vi 26 KBI believe I understand what you're trying to do. You cards maximum sample speed for single channel analog output is 1MS/s. This means that 1/1MS/s = 0.000001s/S is the minimum interval between samples that you can write. This is precisely 1 microsecond minimum dt. As a result, trying to write a glitch at 1microsecond means that it will be instantaneous and not ramped (there is no room to ramp because it would have to happen in the interval between 2 samples). Also, are you trying to make the clitch 2microseconds wide (1 down and 1 up)? That is reasonable as you can have 1 sample of down time at .5V and the rest up at 1.2V. Otherwise you're working on too small of a time scale (.5 microseconds down and .5 up is too small of an interval for the maximum sample speed of the card).
Also, if you're trying to do regenerative output (meaning you load a set number of samples to the card), you're going to have to make sure that the FIFO size (which is somewhere around 16k samples) is big enough to give you the appropriate interval upon which you want to re-trigger the glitch. In the case of that cards FIFO size this is a very small (16ms) interval. Is that a small enough interval for retriggering? You can also do it in non-regenerative mode which would allow you more control, however you'll need to be very careful about underflow issues. See the example in labview about continuous non-regenerative internal clock analog generation for an example of how to do this (should be in Hardware Input and Output->DAQmx->Analog Generation). If your "configurable time period" is smaller than around 16ms, you'll want to do things nonregeneratively. There may be a way to do it with some sort of complex triggering system, but I don't think the card is going to be capable of that, I think non-regenerative software methods are the only way to accomplish it on a larger time interval.
You may also (if this seems to daunting) wish to be put in touch with an alliance member who might be able to help you get the code written. It will cost a little, but if this will take a sizable chunk of your time it may be worth it. -
Periodic signal loss on DCT700 digital adapter
Our kitchen TV is connected to the FiOS ONT via a basic digital adapter (Motorola DCT700/US). On some TV channels, the sound disappears and the picture freezes for up to a few seconds at regular intervals.
The problem affects only channels 11 through 25, as far as I can tell (I didn't try every single one!). It occurs at the top of every minute, at the instant when the on-screen clock display rolls over to the next minute. Sometimes the event lasts for only a second or so, in which case the sound resumes and the picture unfreezes after the interruption. If the signal loss persists for longer, I get a gray screen with a message that "the channel is having technical difficulties" before the program resumes. Either way, it's very annoying.
If I'm watching the same channel via the SD set-top box in the living room, or via either of the CableCards in the TiVo DVR, there is no interruption of sound or picture.
The DCT700 was installed and activated by the Verizon rep as part of my FiOS installation two weeks ago. I don't recall the problem showing up when he performed his final checkup before leaving, but it's possible we chose channels outside the range mentioned above and/or weren't watching the TV during the fairly short time interval during which the problem occurs.
I tried disconnecting the power adapter from the DCT700 for about a minute, but the problem was still present after the DCT700 restarted.DukeDog wrote:
I pulled the plug and re-plugged all 3 adapters and none of them show a channel number. Very odd. And none of the of the manuals even reference the problem to find out how to correct it.
Do you have any idea why I'm not getting channels like CNN? Am I supposed to be getting channels like CNN?
The "trick" of unplugging should resolve the channel display issue (it only shows up for a short period in the bottom left of the TV screen immediately after changing channels).
As Matcarl said, if you are not getting all the SD channels you are subscribed to you need to contact Verizon as the boxes have apparently not been provisioned correctly.

LinkSys e3000: Poor wireless signal
Hi,
I have configured a new LinkSys e3000 as as wireless router in our house.
I have left the configuration as default (only secured it and turned on the DHCP server).
I have only turned on the 2,4 GHz network ( because the 5GH had an even shorter range).
Everything works and all my devices can connect to the router and access the internet.
However i find the singnal strenght of the router to be very poor.
Already in the next room it drops to 60%. And in some rooms on the 1st floor the signal drops completly.
This happens not even 20m away from the router in an ordinary "family house".
Is there a setting somewhere which could increase the signal strength ?
I noticed that the router has no antenna, can one be bought and attached so the signal increases ?
The firmware version is 1.0.02 and i found a newer ony on your web 1.0.03. Would it help to upgrade to it ?
Any onther ideas how to improve the signal strength ?
Thank you in advance
HynekThere are built in antennas for this router.
Connect the computer to the router and open the setup page of the router.
Go to the wireless tab and change the Wireless channel to 11. Save the settings.
Click on Advanced wireless settings sub tab. Change the Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings.
See if that helps you.
You can also try to upgrade the firmware on your router.
Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the router. Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router. Click on Administration tab and go to Firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have already downloaded and upgrade it on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 10 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it. -
Re: WRT350N ----- Very poor Wireless signal strength from my router
I have a WRT350N router. I had it for a year now. In the begining the Wireless Signal strenth was good.
I used to get 4-5 bars in my bed room which is about 10 meters from the router.
Now I have my laptop sitting 1 feet away from the router and I get only 1 bar.
I upgraded my firmware. I rebooted my router a few times still no luck.
Current Firmware Version: v1.04.4 build 003 Jul. 14, 2008
Can any one tell me whats the problem. More importantly can some one help me resolve this problem.
Thanks
SunnyAs you upgraded the router's firmware,I would suggest you to reset the router for 30 seconds and reconfigure it from the scratch, as it is advisable to reset the router after upgrading the router's firmware.
On the router's setup page,Under Wireless tab..Give unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID). Change the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz... Under the Advance Wireless tab, change the Beacon Interval to 75 and click on save settings.... Now,check.
