Size of html file

Hi
In dreamweaver how does one check the file size of and html file?
bob

Rik is absolutely correct but that number can be misleading because it doesn't include the scripts, images and other dependant files that the page uses.  For example, a 6kb html file could really be 419kb when loaded into browsers.
If you want a free analysis of the actual size / speed of your page, have a look at the link below.

  • How to reduce size of html files with JAVA?

    We have html files full of tab char, carriage return, blank space between tags etc. We need to reduce the size of this files.
    HTML files are automatic generated by an engine and we cannot operate on it.
    Those files are in a solaris environment and we need to launch or to schedule something that can clean the files in this environment. The only tools we found are for Win environment so we toughth to make some java classes that parse HTML and clean the files.
    Does anyone know how some tool or the way to clean a file in java?
    Thank You

    Something like this can reduce the number of spaces between tags in the body of the file:public static final String readTextFromFile (File f)
            StringBuffer fileText = new StringBuffer();
            if (f != null && f.exists() && f.isFile())
                try

                    boolean inTag = false;

                    boolean inBody = false;
                    while ((s = br.readLine()) != null)
                        s += " ";
                        s = searchReplace(s, " ", " ");

                        for (int i = 0; i < s.length(); i++)

  • Alias sizes huge, html files have "exec" icons

    [Note: I posted this query on Feb 15 to the discussion page "Using your MacBook Pro (Late 2008 and 2009)". After I got no response, I realized my topic is probably a Leopard--Finder issue rather than a MacBook Pro one. So here it is:]
    Help! My desktop prefs are confused and/or corrupted, I think:
    * ALIASES I've made today from ordinary html or txt files are weighing in at 104k to 188kb -- and aliases made from folders are a whopping 508k!
    * Also, some of the aliases I make from HTML docs are displaying the 'Unix executable' icon (instead of Firefox or even generic HTML icons).
    This seems to have begun happening after I copied a bunch of old docs & folders from an archive CD onto my MacBook Pro a few days ago... apparently many of these files are confusing or unrecognizable to the Desktop because the icon that is displayed for them the same 'Unix executable' icon that I'm seeing with some of the aliases.
    All of these older files were created with apps running under "Classic OS" (OS 7.6 to 9.2). Some open and some won't. Most carry no 3-letter file type extensions, or their extensions don't match any of my current apps (such as Microsoft Works .wbk -- which both TextEdit & NeoOffice opened with no problem).
    For the docs that won't open, I'm hoping to find some software that will at least extract text and/or images -- Any recommendations out there?
    This MacBook Pro was purchased new in Aug 2009, and is running Leopard OS 10.5.8 (I haven't yet updated to SnowLeopard although I have the CD from Apple).
    Under the older systems, if the Desktop icons started getting weird, I only had to restart with certain keys held down (Option? Control? I've forgotten) and the problem would usually be solved. I'm less fluent in the OS X system architecture, so I don't know if a simple routine exists to fix this!

    I posted the same in the other post, sorry about the duplicate reply.
    My calculator alias is 108 kb, others vary 40, 144, 32 kb. I don't know why they vary. Perhaps some have longer pathnames to the app.
    If the Desktop icons started getting weird, I only had to restart with certain keys held down (Option? Control? I've forgotten!) and the problem would usually be solved.
    Your OS is not malfunctioning. Leopard no longer supports Classic software. It does not know what to do with these extensionless files, so it is just guessing the files might be UNIX.
    You could use 'cat' in Terminal to see their contents but if they are compiled that won't reveal anything useful. It would be easier to open them with the Classic applications that made if that is still possible.

  • How to show an HTML file (more then 1MB size) in JEditorPane

    I an trying to show an HTML file (more then 1 MB size ) in JEditorPane
    but getiing OutOfMemory error.
    if i try the same for size less then 1 MB(i tried till 850KB) then it will work fine.
    I am using setPage() method of JEditorPane.
    please provide solution .

    I meet the same question, and even worse.
    I created a html file with frameset, when i point to the link which is an html file larger than 500kb . it fails. and some error "infinite loop in formatting" is thrown
    in javax. swing.text.FlowView. I read the code of this class, and can't tell what's the error of my application.
    Can someone help and give some answer?

  • Previous saved bookmarks.html files were almost twice the size. If I rely on this much smaller folder for saving my I may lose bookmark data. Can someone explain why my folder is now suddenly so much smaller?

    Since I upgraded to 3.6.3 my bookmarks folder has become nearly half the size upon exporting it in html format. I normally refresh my working copy of Mozilla by saving the bookmarks and then erasing all aspects of Firefox and starting over from scratch. I am concerned that if I rely upon this smaller folder I may be losing data. Can someone tell me what is happening here? It could be that this is just an improvement in Firefox but I do not know how to test the waters to see if all my data is saved.

    Are you comparing the size of the bookmarks.html file that is exported from Firefox 3.6.3 to a bookmarks.html file that was exported from earlier versions of Firefox?
    Really shouldn't be a difference, there hasn't been a change to Firefox regarding the bookmarks.html file in years.

  • Assigning a String Value to the value attribute of html:file

    Hi,
    we facing a problem while assigning a value to the VALUE attribute of file tag
    <html:file property="fileupload" size='25' value="sample.xls" onchange="callsheet()" />
    can anyone help me out plzzz,

    Two points -
    1) Java is not Javascript or HTML; you would do better to find a more appropriate forum.
    2) When you take this to a better forum, you need to describe the problem.

  • Not able to access a file referenced from a HTML file

    Hi,
    Using UCM i am checking two files aboutus.html and aboutusBanner.png in About Us FOLDER.Checkin is happening perfectly well.
    Now In JDEVELOPER I am creating a webcenter application (named MyPortalApplication) and accessing those file using a connection to the UCM server.I am able to fetch the files under
    Application Resouces->Connection ->Content Repository ->UCM ->Contribution Folder ->About Us
    UCM I am using a connection name.
    My aboutus.html file in accessing the aboutusBanner.png to display some image.
    Below is code snippet for aboutus.html ...
    <table align="CENTER" width="930px" BORDER=0 bgcolor="white">
    <tr>
    <td>
    <img src="aboutusBanner.png" />
    </td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td valign="top">
    <p style="font-family:Verdana;font-size:14px">
    <br>
    Go Green Eat Fresh opened in 1992 by three Italian brothers with a vision:
    </p>
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    But when i am running the application that banner image (aboutusBanner.png) is not getting displayed.I think i am not giving the path aboutusBanner.png in aboutus.html correctly.
    Please suggest me how my aboutus.html should use the aboutusBanner.png in code given above.
    Thanks,
    Rajeev

    <img src="aboutusBanner.png" />This may reference the file while it is on filesystem (most likely on a web server, must be in the same directory).
    If you want to create a reference to a file in UCM (document repository), you need to do it differently. The easiest way (if your file is in Public security group) is to use html link to the file: e.g. http://{serverURL}/{instance name}/groups/public/documents/graphic/oly_088631.jpg (search for the file in UCM and copy the link from the search result dialog).
    A better way is to use SSXA - see this manual http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e13650/toc.htm - when your html will be constructed from a template and the image will be defined through a placeholder (you will learn to use placeholders in Chapter 3 of the manual). Since PS3, SSXA should be usable for Webcenter pages.

  • Print HTML file inside JEditorPane

    Hi Guys,
    I'm trying to print the contents of a JEditorPane - actually, a html file that I read and display in that component from the underlying file system. I've had the class that manages the JEditorPane implement Printable - the following is my print() implementation:
    public int print(Graphics graphics, PageFormat pageFormat, int pageIndex)
              throws PrinterException {
              if (pageIndex > 0) {
                   return (NO_SUCH_PAGE);
              } else {
                   Graphics2D g2d = (Graphics2D) graphics;
                   g2d.translate(
                        pageFormat.getImageableX(),
                        pageFormat.getImageableY());
                   ivTextArea.paint(g2d);
                   return (PAGE_EXISTS);
    }I've got another method that gets called when a print button is clicked:
    class .... {
      PrintJob pj;
      PageFormat pf;
    private void printMe() {
               if (pj == null) {
                   pj = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
                   pf = pj.defaultPage();
                   pf.setOrientation(PageFormat.PORTRAIT);
              pf = pj.pageDialog(pf);
              pj.setPrintable(this, pf);
              try {
                   pj.print();
              } catch (PrinterException e) {
                   throw new RuntimeException(e);
    }Clearly I'm doing smth wrong, since only a single page gets printed and moreover the formatting is awful [text gets cut instead of moving on the next line]. Can someone help?
    Thanks much!

              if (pageIndex > 0) {
                   return (NO_SUCH_PAGE);This is why you only get a single page.
    page gets printed and moreover the formatting is
    awful [text gets cut instead of moving on the next
    line]. Can someone help?Yeah. Your best bet is either to put the editorpane in a scrollpane and just print what's visible, OR, you can take the print graphics object, convert it into a graphics2D object, and call scale on that by comparing component.getWidth/height to PageFormat.getImageableWidth/Height
    I'm attaching my StandardPrint class. It uses the pageable interface to carry the number of pages + page format as well. I'm not sure if I did the scaling here or not, but I've done it before so I know it works :-) Also, I've got methods for previewing the print, which can save a lot of paper.
    Please feel free to have and use this class, but please do not change the package or portray this as your own work

    i am printing html file from abap program using gui_execute.
    i am using netscape.exe , its printing first time and when reprint its not working
    basically html file contains gif file which has fedex barcode.
    could you please let me know how to print html file from report

    DGU wrote:

    When I print from notepad, everything just goes by default. This is a label printer, so I never need to specify printing parameter such as size, orientation, etc in the past
    Famous last words go something like this: "...never had to do that before."  Maybe you have to do that now.  It's worth at least comparing the defaults settings for bothe generic drivers.  It could save you a lot of headache if you notice something different.

  • How to pass a HTML file as an object to a browser?

    Hi,
    I am currently designing a simple webserver application which will serve a client(browser) with a simple HTML form upon request.
    I have already managed to complete this requirement but i need help simplifying a small part of my program regarding file input(HTML file to be exact).
    My webserver application so far:
    import java.io.*;*
    import java.net.;
    import java.util.*;
    public class FormServer
    public static void main(String[] args)
    Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);
    try
    System.out.println("Enter listening port as an integer value");
    int listening_port = keyboard.nextInt();
    ServerSocket server_socket = new ServerSocket(listening_port);
    System.out.println("Server is now listening on port "
    listening_port" and awaiting HTTP request from client");
    Socket client_socket = server_socket.accept();
    System.out.println("Connection established with client "
    + client_socket.getInetAddress() + " on port " + listening_port);
    InputStream data = client_socket.getInputStream();
    BufferedReader buffered_data = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(data));
    final String firstline = buffered_data.readLine();
    if(firstline.indexOf("GET")==0)
    {color:#ff0000}final String FORM =
    "<html>"
    "<head>"
    "<title>Mailing List form</title>"
    "</head>"
    "<body>"
    "<h1>Add Your Name to our Mailing List</h1> "
    "<form action=\"http://localhost:8080\" method=\"post\" "
    "enctype=\"text/plain\"> "
    " Last name: <input type=\"text\" name=\"last\" size=40 "
    " value=\"\"> "
    "<br> "
    "E-mail Address: <input type=\"text\" name=\"email\" "
    "size=12 value=\"\">"
    "<br>"
    "<input type=\"submit\" value=\"Send Request\" >"
    "<input type=\"reset\" value=\"Reset\">"
    "</form>"
    "</body>" {color}
    "</html>" ;
    System.out.println("Method is GET for HTTP Request so: Sending Page");
    DataOutputStream dos = new DataOutputStream(client_socket.getOutputStream());
    dos.writeBytes(FORM);
    dos.close();
    if(firstline.indexOf("POST")==0)
    //send posted FORM to SMTP server
    catch(IOException e)
    System.out.println(e);
    The problem:
    I would like to save all the {color:#ff0000}FORM{color} data in a HTML File so that everytime the browser asks for the FORM i can just create an instance of the File and serve it to the browser. Would that be possible?
    This is my first time posting a question in a forum so please forgive me if i do not make sense. I would be happy to elaborate if necessary. All help will be greatly appreciated. Oh and just use localhost to access the server.

    i tried

  • Batch Edit Multiple HTML files | Find and Replace

    Hi,
    I would like to use Automator to automate (I know that sounds redundant) the following process.
    1. Take a group of html files
    2. Open each file so it can find and replace the script of any image folders
    Example:
    Change: img src="home_files/photo.jpg" to img src="images/photo.jpg"
    3. Save & Close each file
    I assume this this would have to be done in either AppleScript or Cocoa.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    you most definitely don't need Cocoa for something like that. if all you need is a straightforward search and replace in a bunch of html files you can easily do this with a shell script. If you need some more involved search and replace you have to explain what it is exactly that you want.
    to automate direct search and replace you can do something along the following lines in automator
    1. get selected finder items (this will select your html files)
    2. run shell script action with input passed as arguments
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #ADD8E6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    for f in "$@"
    do
    fl=`echo "$f"`
    sed 's%home_files/photo.jpg%images/photo.jpg%g' $f > /users/$USER/.tmp.txt
    cat /users/$USER/.tmp.txt > "$fl"
    done
    rm /users/$USER/.tmp.txt</pre>

  • Bookmarks are saved but as folders & html files, i want to import in mass not one at a time but system won't let me select all from folder

    computer was infected by virus rebuilt after save but bookmark favorites saved as html files in folders not bookmark format

      Yes, I tried that.   The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size.   I opened that destination folder from quick time  from where it said select image sequence.   I clicked on the first one and opened it.   The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go.   When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie.   The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
        To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation?  Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.

    Currently the w_htmldata informations are stored in the form of RAW 1024 characters.

    Have you upgraded to Yosemite?  Then you could send the attachment using Mail Drop.
    You can use Mail Drop to send files that exceed the maximum size allowed by the provider of your email account. Mail Drop uploads the large attachments to iCloud, where they’re encrypted and stored for up to 30 days.
    If you have an iCloud account and you’re signed in to iCloud when you click Send, Mail automatically sends the attachments using Mail Drop. Mail Drop attachments don’t count against your iCloud storage.
    If you don’t have an iCloud account, or if you’re not signed in, Mail asks you whether to use Mail Drop (select “Don’t ask again for this account” to always use Mail Drop).
    If a recipient uses Mail in OS X Yosemite, the attachments are automatically downloaded and included in your message just like any other attachment. For other recipients, your message includes links for downloading the attachments and their expiration date.
    You can turn Mail Drop on or off for an account. Choose Mail > Preferences, click Accounts, select your account, click Advanced, then select or deselect “Send large attachments with Mail Drop.”

  • How to change the size of redo file

    Deal all,
    I finish installed the db,and the size of redo file is 50m by default. I found many "checkpoint not complete" events in alert.log file.
    Now i want to change it to 100M and try to avoid the event appear again ,how can i do?

    As Sb has already correct reply that size of redo logs can not be changed. We have to create new bigger/smaller size of redo logs and then 'alter system switch logfile' to inactivate older logs. Now you can drop older logs. Redo logs are something a glass of water. We can not change the size of glass, if we wish to dring more/less water, we will take that sized glass and we will get that sized water.
    Remember to consider the multiplexing/grouping when doing any maintenance like this. And there may be archive log & backup space considerations.

    Hi,
    The size is controled by the following parameters.
    control_file_record_keep_time
    maxlogfiles
    maxlogmembers
    maxloghistory
    maxinstances
    look at this link for more info.
