Skype's Click-to-call crashing & clashing with web...

Hi,
I'm working on implementing a WYSIWYG editor to one of my sites. Sadly, Skype's Click-to-call plugin wreaks havoc with it (tested on Chrome).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Load Chrome with Click-to-call installed.
2. Go to http://jsfiddle.net/gabito/jnSPf/6/
3. Starting typing some text in the right window and observe how the browser crashes and the height of the textarea is completely wrong (since node.offsetHeight and node.clientHeight are both being returned as 0).
4. Disable Click-to-call, reload the same page and watch how it all works nicely.
The code that's causing the crash with Skype is adding an element to the DOM, measuring it for resize and removing it again. Whilst this isn't the most efficient code, it shouldn't cause the browser to crash like this, and it doesn't unless Skype Click-to-Call is installed. Since Skype is a popular plugin that many users will have installed, this presents a problem for us.

Hi Claudius,
Firstly, thanks for the reply.  I too am using Chrome 24 and Skype Click to Call 6.6.
The crashing doesn't seem to occur every time but happens often enough to be worrying. Basically, try refreshing the page and typing some text into the box on the bottom right window (where the image is placed).
The other issue which I mentioned - the size of the text box being measured wrong - occurs every time without fail.
Without Skype: (i.e. how it should look)
With Skype (height calculated incorrectly):
This is the message when it crashes:
To clarify: there are no other extensions enabled when reproducing this error, other than Click-to-Call.

    ps. Sorry for my english

    Sounds that you have installed a Firefox Beta release and thus are on the beta update channel, see Help > About.<br />
    The Beta update channel receives an update twice a week.
    You need to install the current release to switch the update channel to release.
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 27: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
    *Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
    Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

  • Click to call crashes my browsers

    Hi,
    My work lends itself perfectly to using click-to-call to add great efficiencies to my day, but at least 10 times a day my browser freezes and eventually says that click-to-call has crashed.  This is an ongoing problem for several years.  I've uninstalled, reinstalled, made sure I'm on the latest version (with hopes that this is the one that solves the problem).  I've followed the support links in this community and tried all of the suggestions.  It happens on both explorer and chrome.  I've not used firefox but if someone says that's my solution then I'll try it.  Given the huge volume of similar complaints in 2013, it's a common problem.  I hope that skype is working on the resolution but if anyone has suggestions that have worked permanently for them please let me know.  I'm running a new pc with SSD's and windows 7 professional 64 bit.  EVERYTHING has been checked (once again) to ensure that the latest firmware and software is running.
    thanks for any relief you may be able to provide.

    Hi, Trikev,
    Thanks for your note!  For avoidance of doubt on my part, confirming you are running Chrome version 29?  My Win7 laptop is on v. 29.0.1547.62 m.  I had to separately enable C2C; the add-on did not start by itself.

  • Click to call crashing and freezing pages

    Since I upgraded to version 6.3.0.105, skype click to call keeps freezing pages and I get crash messages. This is happening in Chrome and explorer

    Dear Readers,
    Here is my idea: ensure you are using the latest and greatest Chrome.
    Then, download and install the latest and greatest Click-to-Call (an update was issued late last week - so as of Friday, 16 August 2013, this thread is out-of-date).
    Finally, ensure the C2C extension is enabled in Chrome.
    Eureka!  Look up your favourite mall store directory, and check out the blue S beside the highlighted numbers.  It works!
    Mine has never crashed.
    @CarlDrogo: If after having checked my points, above, please post back with the error messages or any other clues - I am on Windows 7.  Screen shots would be ideal, as long as no personally identifiable information is revealed.  Thanks!
    Cheers,
    Elaine

  • Webcam failed; 'click to call' crashed

    Hi--these are 2 possibly separate problems.  When I skype, my webcam ceased to function.  It has always worked before, but even if I test the webcam or try to install a new profile picture, the webcam is not recognized any longer.  I'm told to plug it in, or check to see that it works.  Just quit on me last week.
    Also, webpages frequently become 'non-responsive' and the computer freezes until the skype error message shows up, saying 'skype click to call has failed. would you like to turn it off?'  When I say 'yes' the computer & non-responsive website both resume functioning.
    Any ideas how to correct these two problems?   Thanks---Mac

    Onboard video cameras are generally connected by a proprietary USB cable that starts from the top of the laptop screen (where the camera is) and connects somewhere on motherboard located at the lower half of the laptop.  Unlike an external cable, you can't easily swap it out. Over time as you open and close your laptop that cable can become disconnected or fatigued.  Other times the onboard camera can fail as well.  If your laptop camera won't even detect in device manager then this issue is probably with the internal cable.  Some people slightly pinch the area of the camera to see if that will get the cable to reconnect.   Other people open and close their laptop several times, and sometimes that may get it to work for a while.  Usually when it's detected you will hear the same sounds and see similar notifications you receive when you install a USB thumb drive. The only reliable solution is to replace the cable/camera yourself, get it replaced by a professional, or buy an external webcam to replace the internal one.
    There are other possibilities like the camera being disabled not by software/drivers in the OS but in the BIOS itself.  Not all computers that have an onboard camera, have that capability.  It's definitely worth the time to check.   If an option like that does not exist then we're back to it being a hardware failure.
    I saw you responded and saw my similar response on this subject.  Even through the internal cable does not look like a USB cable, it is a proprietary-style USB cable as it connects the camera to the internal USB root hub.  When my internal cable failed, the laptop was hardly used for Skype.  It worked intermittently, it was basically defective from the factory.  Had I have used it more I would have been able to get it replaced under warranty.  After determining it was defective, it was out of warranty, so I replaced the parts myself.

  • Lync 2013 Click to Call inserts icon with no src

    Hi,
    We have a SP2010 farm and are about to enable Lync 2013 Click to Call for the business
    We have one problem with publishing pages though
    When we edit a page and enter a phone number the click 2 call icon appears after a second and looks fine, however, all the HTML the IE plugin generates for the icon gets inserted with the HTML source and after publishing the icon has no src attribute, it
    looks something like
    <a title="Call: +a number..." href="#" style="overflow:hidden;cursor:hand;border-top:medium none;height:16px;border-right:medium none;vertical-align:middle;white-space:nowrap;right:0px;border-bottom:medium none; !important;float:none;left:0px;margin:0px;border-left:medium none;display:inline;top:0px;width:16px;bottom:0px"><img title="Call: +a number.. alt="" style="overflow:hidden;cursor:hand;border-top:medium none;height:16px;border-right:medium none;vertical-align:middle;white-space:nowrap;right:0px;border-bottom:medium none; !important;float:none;left:0px;margin:0px;border-left:medium none;display:inline;top:0px;width:16px;bottom:0px"></a>
    As you understand there's no image, just a white box with a black border which doesn't look good so for the moment I have to hide it with css
    Any ideas on how to make SharePoint not save that HTML in edit mode but still display the icon once published?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Calling a report with web.show_document and put pdf in temp directory

    Hi,
    I need to call a report 10g with web.show_document in order to generate a .pfd file (not viewed by the user) as soon as the user press a button in a form.
    I have two problems. Firstly, after generate .pdf, it's opened a undesirable windows "process succefully" (I don't want that window). Secondly, in url parameter, I put:
    (...)DESTYPE=File&DESFORMAT=pdf&DESNAME=' || client_win_api.get_temp_directory
    the target directory to .pdf file might be the user temporary directory, and not c:\temp, because in Windows XP the user haven't some writing privileges.
    How there is spaces in temporary directory, like:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Configurations\Temp
    I supose that Get_temp_directory returns something that:
    C:\Documen~1\<user>\Local~1\Temp
    And web.show_document don't understand.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks a lot,
    medina.

    Hi Maahjoor,
    i have install windows xp on vmware having loop back adapter configure with ip 192.168.10.1.i am using oracle developer 10g suite and oracle 10g r2 database.
    i want to call a report using the following code on a button.i have attached the report to the form.
    i have started the report server by issuing rwserver server=repsrv.
    DECLARE
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    rep_status varchar2(20);
    BEGIN
    repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('ALL_EXPENSES');
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    rep_status := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(v_rep);
    WHILE rep_status IN ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
    LOOP
    rep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep);
    END LOOP;
    IF rep_status = 'FINISHED' THEN
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://192.168.10.1:8889/reports/rwservlet'||substr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1||'?'||'server=repsrv','_blank');
    ELSE
    Message('Error when running report');
    END IF;
    end;now when i run the command, i get this error
    frm-41214: unable to run the report
    frm-41219: cannot find the report.invalid id.
    argument 1 to builtin run_report_object acnnot be null.
    i thin the problem is with this line. WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://192.168.10.1:8889/reports/rwservlet'||substr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1||'?'||'server=repsrv','_blank');
    can anyone help? or a better piece of code?>
    I think you are mixing up the web.show_document usage for URL and with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT.
    I hope you have studied this document http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/products/migration/frm10gsrw10g-132606.pdf . It has the required examples and code.

    I've been using Foxit Reader before using Adobe Reader. Now when i'm trying to view pdf files in firefox there is this error showing "The Adobe Reader cannot be used to view pdf files in a web browser". I've tried reinstalling adobe reader but this problem persists. Below is a screenshot of the problem. This might be a bug in the program as i have done the needful and set adobe as the deafult pdf file manager or the web browser might be clashing with this version of adobe reader. I'm not sure why this is happening and would like someone to educate me on this.

  • Skype freezes during video call, no issue with har...

    Hi All,
         I have recently been set to the task to figure out why everyone around me cannot skype a video call longer than approx. 2mins without the feed freezing, going black, or turning to static.
    I have read almost all the forums in the community on video freezing and have tried all listed options.
    I have throughly checked all of mine and others laptops hardware for functionality and nothing is wrong.
    It is running Windows 8.1 and has all Windows updates, software and firmware updates.
    It seems many people are crying for an answer for this and reverting to an old version of Skype is no longer possible.
    Ideas??? ***Please do not reply with: reinstall your driver or test your camera to see if it freezes in other programs. This has been done. This is not a computer model/operating system specific issue and I see it as a skype issue.

    Try to uninstall the currently installed Skype version and install the previous 6.14.0.104 version using the download links provided here:

  • Simple question: calling URL link with WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT is not working

    Hi folks,
    this should be an easy question, but I have no idea why it's not working :-(.
    In one of my form, I would like to place an URL link behing button.
    For this purpose I'm using below code:
       WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://www.google.com','_blank');But when above code is executed, nothing happens :-(.
    Could it be because I'm using it within modal type of window?
    Thanks,
    Tomas
    I'm using Oracle Forms 10g

    have you checked with using self instead of blank to see if it will replace your current page with the one you are tyring to call?
    Have you got any other firefox plugins running such as Ad block? can you try disabaling all addons and even the internal pop-up blocker jus to see if this will work?
    if self works but blank does not how about having the main app called from a multi frame page. one frame with the app in and the other frame with some javascript that can be called to open a new window? dont know if that will work and its late so probably not thought it thorugh fully :)

  • What is best practice for calling XI Services with Web Dynpro-Java?

    We are trying to expose XI services to Web Dynpro via "Web Services".  Our XI developers have successfully generated the WSDL file(s) for their XI services and handed off to the Web Dynpro developers.
    The Java developers put the WSDL file to their local PC's and import as "Adaptive Web Services" data models.  When the application is constructed and deployed to our development box, the application abends because the J2EE server on that box cannot locate the WSDL file at runtime (it was on the developers box at, say, "C:\temp\" and that directory does not exist on the dev server).
    Since XI does not have a way of directly associating the generated WSDL file to the XI service, where is the best place to put the WSDL so it is readable at design time and at run time?  Also, how do we reconcile that we'll have 3 WSDL files for each service (one for Dev, one for QA and one for Prod) and how is the model in Web Dynpro configured so it gets the right ome?
    Does anyone have any good guide on how to do this?  Have found plenty of "how to consume a Web Service in Web Dynpro" docs on SDN, but these XI services are not really traditional Web Services so the instructions break down when it comes time to deploy.

    HI Bob,
    As sometimes when you create a model using a local wsdl file then instead of refering to URL mentioned in wsdl file it refers to say, "C:\temp" folder from where you picked up that file. you can check target address of logical port. Due to this when you deploy application on server it try to search it in "c:\temp" path instead of it path specified at soap:address location in wsdl file.
    Best way is  re-import your Adaptive Web Services model using the URL specified in wsdl file as soap:address location.
    like http://<IP>:<PORT>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel<xirequest>
    or you can ask you XI developer to give url for webservice and username password of server

  • Skype Click to Call Incompatible with Firefox 10.0

    When will Skype Click to Call be compatible with Firefox 10.0?

    I'm not a computer expert, but I have found Skype to be easy to navigate. Now, when I download the Firefox 10.0 update so my system runs properly, I discover that I'm not the only person to encounter the Click Call removal from almost all my contacts.
    Is there a way to resolve this issue sooner than later. My personal gripe is that I need to communicate daily with a work contact in the far Eastern Carribean and Skype is the only way we can do so without running up a large hourly cell or landline rate. Even on Skype, the per-minute rate isn't a great bargain. Aside from rates, is there en asy solution to this problem?
