Skype Scammer Awareness

This is a message I recieved from a random stranger, and it is clearly a scam if you process the text given. This scammer was also reported in another forum on community.skype.com, and has made its appearance once again. I don't know how many victims he/she has scammed and I'm trying to raise awareness.

Although this proposal might come to you as a surprise, since it is from someone you do not know or have seen before, but based on recommendation,trust and confidentiality I decided to contact you. First let me introduce myself to you, once again, I am Mr.Rezwan Mirza E.,I am the head of the corporate banking division at Barclays in the UAE and GCC.
I am 47 years of age and married with 3 lovely kids. It may interest you to hear that I am a man of PEACE and INTEGRITY; I only hope we can assist each other to make this happen.
I have packaged a financial transaction that will benefit both of us, as the head of the corporate banking division at Barclays in the UAE and GCC.it is my duty to send in a financial report to my head office in Abu Dhabi at the end of each year.
On the course of last years 2014 end of year report,I discovered that my branch in which I am the manager made an excess profit of 2.800.000.00.million united state dollars which my head office are not aware of and will never be aware of.I have since placed this fund on what the Bank call SUSPENSE ACCOUNT without any beneficiary.
As an officer of the bank I can not be directly connected to this money and i never want to work with any closer friend or relative here for security reason, This is why I,m contacting you for us to work so that you can assist me and receive this money into your bank account for us to share.
Upon your acceptance of this proposal, I have generally agreed on this sharing ration 50% of the total sum will be given to you for your assistance upon the receipt of the funds in your account while 50% will be for me. Note that there are practically no risky involved in this transaction,it will be bank to bank transfer,all I need from you is to stand claim as the original depositor of this fund who made the deposit with our branch office so that my Head office can order the transfer to your designated bank account. Such transfer from our head office takes not more than 72hrs.This kind of transfers is just like someone who banks in a particular bank and at a point in time wishes to close his or her account and transfer the funds to a different bank.

Obviously you can see that there are grammar and punctuation errors in the scammer's message which leads to me the idea that this is definetly not a "bank manager" as it implicates and states in the message. Watch out for Mr. Rezwan Mirza Richard E, and be cautious if he makes another appearance in another name.

    Readers will also see several referrals to the Scam Survivors website. 
    While it may seem helpful to post a list of account names that are being used (actually, abused) by scammers, unfortunately what seems to be occurring is upon finding that the particular account name has been recognized, the scammers simply quit using that particular account name and create a new Skype account or a variant of it.
    We are only helping the scammers by adding account names and other details to a public website.   In addition, our Community Guidelines clearly state posting personally identifiable information is not best practice.

  • How Do I Close My Skype Account?

    Dear Readers,
    This question is asked a lot here in the Community, particularly on this message board.  Perhaps this topic added here will be helpful.   This FAQ article explains the process of how to remove your Skype account (the blue type is actually a "link" to the FAQ article): https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA142/how-do-i-close-my-skype-account

    How do I close my Skype account?
    If you want to close your Skype account, you’ll need to contact us so we can close it for you.

    Next, contact Skype Customer Service and tell us you’d like to close your account.

    One more point to keep in mind: removing your account from the Search Directory will not "pull," "remove," "delete," or "retract" instant messages or file transfers that you have previously sent to your contacts.  Your account name will still appear on their contact lists, although they will no longer be able to contact you using the account name you have requested be removed.

    Skype is aware of sporadic website issues.  Temporarily enabling scripts, disabling browser add-ins that might disable pop-up dialog boxes, and temporarily enabling pop-up dialog boxes may help get you through to Skype Customer Service.  If you still experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser.  
    Look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.
    Last and not least, when you reach the last step of the process, remember to click on the "Start Chat" link when you are provided the choice of visiting the Community or starting an instant message chat with a customer service agent.

  • Skype notifications doesn't work!

    I get notifications for Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, games and everything else exept Skype! When somebody calls me, I need to be IN the Skype app and have it in front of me to get the call.
    I have it set on Alert so that it says "*Person* calls you, Confirm - Cancel" or something like that, and then I need to click "Confirm" or "Cancel", that worked before, but now it doesn't work!
    Can I get any help?

    I have had this problem before, with no success. I think the reason is, if you don't have good internet signal, it takes about 3-5 'rings' before it actually reaches the iOS device. Then, you only have 1-2 rings before it automatically hangs up from the other end.
    I think this is a fault within the app, not a problem with your device. I'm sure Skype are aware of this, and so they will most likely fix it within the next update. Be patient.

  • Skype Account contact list and skype name changed

    Hi!
    I have been actively using my skype account again lately and one time last week when I signed in, I just cannot. My username and password are correct. And so what I did was to reset my password. I was able to reset my password through my email and when I signed in to Skype, I found out that my skype account was "hacked", I think. My skype name, profile photo and contact list changed into somebody else's account.
    I just want to ask what has happened to my account? Why did that happened? The username and contact list that appears to my account, I think, was leggit and not an act  of hacking. Could it be possibly that our accounts switched?

    Your report reads to me like your account was compromised (hacked).  If you still have control of it, sign on to the account dashboard and change your account's registered e-mail address to something else, and then change the password. 
    Also, as a proactive measure, ensure your computer's software and patches are updated, and run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the most recent virus signature files available.

  • How can I delete SKYPE to GO - my account has been...

    How can I delete SKYPE to GO???? My account has been hacked and a SKYPE to Go account has been set up with I number I am unable to delete. It has proved impossible to contact anyone at SKYPE to inform them of this and to ask for assistance in deleting the account. My credit card has already been debited for calls I have not made. I am just beginning to realise that SKYPE has very little interest in the security of its customers account.  I would be really grateful for any help the SKYPE community can give me to delete this SKYPE to GO account. If anyone has contact details for SKYPE that would be much appreciated. Many thanks

    Please keep trying to contact Skype Customer Service.  I have read that people are experiencing problems reaching them, however try using a different browser, and be on the alert to accept a pop-up dialogue box window that would appear if you are directed to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent.
    People are getting through; sometimes is takes more than one or two attempts.  Skype is aware of this.

  • Reporting abuse on Skype's main email address is no longer valid. How can I report now?

    Today, I tried to report my case on [e-mail removed for privacy and security] but an automated reply was sent to me from microsoft saying: "Thanks for contacting Skype.This email message cannot be delivered because the email address is no longer valid.For support please click here" I clicked the link, it redirected me to http;//www.support.skype.com. When I browsed it, I came to this page: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1170/how-do-i-contact-skype-customer-service I clicked the "support request page" and it doesn't work. Instead, I was redirected to this link: http://support2.microsoft.com/common/errors/ServerGeneric.htm saying: The page you were looking for is currently not available. The address may not be correct, or there may be a temporary problem with this site. Please try one of the following options:Check the address for typing errors.Click the Back button and try a different option from the navigation menu.Try this page again later.I am really desperate to report that someone is using my name on Skype and I know who he is because he sent me a message and tried to add me. Now, I am using a new Skype account so he can't bother me anymore. If anyone can help me, please don't hesitate to shoot a comment here. 

    Hi, sleepyberry, and welcome to the Community, Adding my work-around instructions here, as well, not realizing you had posted a similar question on another thread (topic).   Yes, Skype no longer uses generic or central e-mail addresses for its customer service and support; Skype now uses a web-form format instead.  Skype is aware of lingering website issues that can occur when people attempt to contact Skype Customer Service. Temporarily enabling scripts, pop-up dialog boxes, and disabling plug-ins which could prohibit pop-ups may help get past website problems.     If you still experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.

  • Delete skype accounts that are no longer in use.

    Hi
    We use skype at our company for communicating with clients. Over the years some of our employees have left but their skype accounts are still searchable. We have had cases where customers are not aware that the employee has left and leave messages on their skype accounts which never get answered. I would like to know how to delete/remove these accounts from the directory so they are no longer searchable.
    I have tried the link on the support page but it gives me an error saying that the chat is not available and the only other option is to post here in the forums.
    Please help, I have been trying for a month now to get rid of these old accounts.

  • My skype number is already being used by another b...

    I just bought a Skype number and minutes.  When I call the number, I hear a greeting for a local business here in town.

    I got a skype number yesterday and I have been receiving calls from customers of a travel website who seem to have disappeared.

  • Skype In Number Not Working

    After going round and round in circles on Skype's ridiculous web site I seem to have no option but to end up here.
    My Skype In Number is NOT WORKING.  Why not and how do I get this fixed ?  I am sure Skype will want paid again soon but if I am not getting the service so guess what....

    You are, of course, correct: you ought to contact Skype Customer Service to report the problems with your Skype Number and to request it be tested, and you will need to contact Skype Customer Service to request a refund.
    Skype is aware there can be problems contacting their customer support unit.  Please do tray again; people do get through.

    You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with.     I am using Skype on a Galaxy S3.
    Ever since I signed up for a Skype number I have had people emailing me saying that they were unable to contact me on the Skype number that I gave them. This has become more frequent just recently and I have missed some important calls.
    When I call my Skype number from a landline it's a bit hit and miss if a connection is made.... sometimes I get "number not recognised" response from the landline. People who have attempted to call me report similar isssue or sometimes that the number is continually busy and does not go to voicemail.
    I called skype support yesterday via Live Chat and was talking to the support guy for 1h 20min and achieved nothing.... he blamed it on everything from my phone provider, internet provider, that my email account was overloaded etc etc ... I think the guy must have bored and was having a joke with me..... that or he was a complete and total utter ####### idiot.
    I have attached a screen shot showing settings on my Skype account page.
    Currently (23 Jan) my Skype number is not working at all... when I attempt to call from landline I
    get the message "the numebr that you have dialled has not been recognised"
    Anyone else having reliability issues with a Skype number? Unless I get the issue resolved I will be cancelling account as it is worthless to me in it's current working state.
    One more question.... I managed it yesterday, but cannot find it tooday, but how **bleep** do you get to the link for Live Chat.... all i do is get directed to send email???

    Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents.  If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community (or offered only the Community as a contact method), please try again using a different web browser and - important -  choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.
    Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent.  If you have pop-ups blocked in the browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.

  • Skype name and contact list

    Dear All,
    I had to change my password.  Unfortunately my skype name was changed, too.So,  I  lost my skype contact list. How can I get back the contact list and my previous skype name?

    Your report reads to me like your account was compromised (hacked).  If you still have control of it, sign on to the account dashboard and change your account's registered e-mail address to something else, and then change the password. 
    Also, as a proactive measure, ensure your computer's software and patches are updated, and run your preferred anti-virus/malware/spyware program using the most recent virus signature files available.
    If you have lost access to your account, you may need to create a new account to use so you can contact Skype Customer Service in order to recover the first account.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
