Small company Intranet - Contribute

I am a webdesigner (Studio MX 2004) for a small company (100
employees) and we would like to create an intranet. Currently we
are looking for software to design/manage with. I have designed our
website in Dreamweaver and would love to be able to utilize similar
functions/not have to learn another software to create the site.
Would Contribute be the best solution for our situation? or do you
have any suggestions of other software to research?

You could do that.
Or, since you have limited needs, why not just by a Network Storage Appliance and use that?
If you want to use a Mac, you could use the mini without OSX Server. You can just enable file sharing on the mini, give all of your users access (it supports up to 10 concurrent users), hook up some externals and go with that.

Just moved my email from Entourage to Mail. Having real problems with getting my signatures to work properly despite sending email as Rich Text.
When adding in a small company logo to the signature, PC's / windows computers only receive signature and logo as attachments.
I've tried all possible fixes I can find including getting a PC user to format the logo but no joy. Has anyone experienced this and any ideas on a fix gratefully received.

Newb here has been put in charge of a small company network. Need help!

I'm new to ARD, but well versed in Macs and OSX. A friend's family has a small company and the head honcho uses ARD to monitor the other Macs at the office from her iMac running 10.6.3 there at the office, as well as from home using another iMac and a Macbook Air. I was asked to help and am well paid to figure out ARD for them. They booted their last IT guy, by the way. So the boss's Macbook Air and her Office iMac are the Administrators, and the iMac at home is the client. All machines running 10.6.3 and latest ARD 3.3.2 Admin and Client s/w.
For whatever reason I can only control or watch the office iMac from the iMac at home, and cannot access the home iMac from the office.
For the record, the Macbook Air does not have this same issue, but I've yet to tackle it.
When I double click the office iMac from the Home iMac and look through the tabs, I am told the Client s/w on that office iMac is an old version.
I have read the white papers and watched the Apple videos. This just doesn't make sense!
What is going on? Any hints? Please......

FIXED! However........
The home iMac "supposedly" has a fixed IP address. Well, it wandered a bit apparently so there was a small change at the ISP that threw everything off. I looked into an email sent from that machine's user and displayed the long header to get the IP address of the home iMac. I then entered that new IP address into ARD from the office iMac, and BAM, works like a charm now!
What I can't figure out is why the ARD on home iMac says the office iMac is running 10.5.8, when it is running 10.6.3 and it also says the office ARD client is 3.2.X rather than the actual 3.3.2 it is indeed running. Weird?
Any ideas? Maybe everything will update once I use ARD from the home iMac into the office iMac?

Setting up bridge as photo database for a small company

My company is using a quite large collection of stock photos. Those photos are currently saved in appropiately named folders, however it's quite hard to find a specific type of photo this way. That's why we want to start using bridge for the management of our stock photos.
I searched the internet for tips on how to do it, however most of the threads are really old (we are using CS 5.1) or not very helpful.
That's why I hope the adobe community can give me some advice on how to set up bridge for a small company network (~20 people).
What we want to achieve:
Bridge uses the stock photo folder located on our server
All photos have tags, if someone changes a tag the other users also see the changed tag
If a new photo is added to the server, it shows up in the bridge of all users
Not everyone in the company is using macs -> everything should work cross-platform, also for the windows users
Not essential but would be pretty helpful: Since 90% of our photos are from iStock, a way to read the tags from iStock and insert them into our photos.
I know that there are other programs which are better suited for the management of photos, however we want to rely on an Adobe product for it and since Lightroom does not seem to be a good choice, we look forward to using Bridge.
Maybe someone else in here also uses bridge for the photo management in their company or knows how to set it up for a network. If so, I would be very grateful for an answer!

Actually I am setting up a lab for a small company with 25 users. Confused which license to purchase. Vendor sent us quotation in which he mentions we have to purchase "HP Server DL-380 -G8 Intel Xeon 2.5GHZ " in order to install windows server
2008 R2 OEM Edition CD. Actually I just want to know. Can't we purchase a assembled computer/Machine and purchase Windows Server 2008 R2 OEM CD for successful implementation?. Now, My question to you is. What is this OLP and OEM. Does OLP mean
we can install Windows Server in assemebled computer or machine and OEM means only dedicate company machine is capable to install OEM edition, Just confused, Please let me know. It is just a small company with 25 users. What do you recommend. Thank you for

Couple of things to remember as well
OEM licences comes with the machine probably you have seen laptops and desktop has a windows key sticker that's an OEM license. Only limitation with OEM is you can't use OEM license anywhere else then the machine you have bought it with. If an OEM license
machine dies license will die as well.
With volume license you have the freedom to move around the license. If you have only one license on one machine at one time.
Also when you buy a windows server license it comes with 5 user CALs. So that's why you have to buy 20 more.
Now if you want to know what are the CALs, so CAL is a Client Access License require for a
user/device to access windows server. For example if you have a user and he wants to access share files or printer from the server you will require a user CAL. So if 25 users will access the Server you will require 25 CALs.
Best thing to do is to speak with your account Manager from Dell or HP regarding the license side as normally they are really good in helping.

Also, if the navigation works most of the time but you are prompted for every single image, I suggest restarting Firefox and trying again.
The following also might help in that situation: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Bulk HTML E-mail for a small company

I'm looking for a software program that will allow me to send e-mails to my customers. Not just text but include (HTML) graphics. We are small company and would only be sending our 50 or 100 e-mails at a time. Does such a program exist?

Unable to maintain communication within the company Intranet

I have been trying to maintain communication with a fieldpoint module on the company intranet. I have tried version 3.2 and 5.02 firmware version on a FP 1600. On version 5.02, communication last only about 10 minutes. With the 3.2 version, I can sometime maintain communication up to 3 hours.
The fieldpoint will loose communication and all the status light indicates that the device is working correctly except you can not communicate with it at all. The only way to start communication is to power off and power on the module. The program or Max can then restablish communication.
I tried to downgrade the fieldpoint to 3.2 but I keep getting a communication error whenever I try to dow an upgrade. This occurs
even if the unit is on a separate LAN. I have been able to determine if the the unit is on separate LAN, the unit will work for hours without a problem. It seems that when it goes on the intranet, the Fieldpoint unit will just freeze and die.

In the US, Adobe single-app pricing is $20/month and full-suite pricing is $50/month so if you are eventually going to use more than just two apps, it’s more cost effective to buy the entire suite subscription. Do you not also need Premier Pro? Also if you need Photoshop, as you say, there is a PS+Lightroom plan for only $10/month.
So PS+LR for $10/month + AE for $20/month is $30/month unless you need another app, eventually, then you still might as well go with the entire suite.

Hello! Im working for a small company as Java programmer. I have 2 years in the field and have some knowledge of certains tools to use in a small entreprise.
As a non-official system admin of the company, I have been testing many tools that help the company alot.
I would like to know if any of you know of other useful programs that might be good to use for a small company. But first, here's my list:
JGoodies Framework: A great framework for java programming, alot of things that you can use like Look and feel, form, text animations, etc.

Cruise Control: Build automations
Neatbeans: Java IDE of course

TTS price for small company

Hi everyone,
As a small company, I may not be the only one facing this situation and I would like to get your feedback on this.
My main job is an IT teacher but I also have my company on the side which I use to develop interactive content with Adobe Captivate. Most of my clients have an interest in the TTS part of the software. Everything so far is good and I enjoy developing with the software.
The problem is, as a small company (mostly myself), if I need to include the TTS for resale, I need to pay the same price as everyone else. Most of the Website I have visited so far are not selling their product for cheap (1500 - 5000$) just to get one TTS voice. The cheapest I have found is Inova for ~700 +tx with an annual subscription.
So I ask myself, what would you guys suggest me to do to get a decent TTS (French) that I can embed in captivate for resale ? I don't have the budget of a major company to pay that much for a TTS voice.

OK, its probably just me not having complete understanding on how TTS resale works within a published captivate project..
I was informed that I need to purchase a commercial TTS voice if I sell the file (Output file / SCORM) that includes TTS in it.
Does that mean I can buy a personal TTS voice license for my company, add it to all my captivate projects, publish it to SCORM format, sell the courseware to my clients and still be legit ?

5 Steps to Take Before Applying for a Job

Photoshop licence for small company purchase

We're a small company based in Luxembourg and we'd like to purchase Photoshop (only it). As I understood, you have a licence for small companies?
One year subscription costs 17.99 euro per month, and a single month is 27.99 euro.
Can we purchase Photoshop for only several months (say, Feb, May and Aug) if we're not planning to use it regularly?

You can cancel and reinstate monthly plans as you see fit, you just miss all possible discounts when you do it that way. And well, if you only use PS once every few months the smart thing probably to do would be to learn GIMP and some other free tools, meaning you proabbaly don't use any advanced features that you coulkd not find in those free tools as well. Otherwise look into getting CC for Teams or a volume licensing plan, but those require at least a full 1 year commitment.

Hey everybody. I'm trying to come up with the best solution for this topology. The descryption is as follows:
A small company with 50PCs, 10Printers, 5Web Servers and 5 IP phones is functioning in two places. City A - the main branch and City B.
Now I would like to know how should I do this. According to my friend the servers should have their own static IP. Each of the host PC on this screenshot represents actually 10PCs and each printer stands for two. Also the subnetting should be ready for growth of the company so there should be some extra slots or even segments. I've read the guide to this at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk365/technologies_tech_note09186a00800a67f5.shtml, but I still don't understand how should it be done when there is one more switch standing on top of the other subnets.
Now, I can choose any IPs I want and any class I want.. it't just an exercise so, if you guys here can, and are willing, please tell me how should this be properly done.

The first question I have is - are your switches layer 3 capable, or just layer 2?
I would have each segment in a separate VLAN, with a /24 for IP space, then trunk the VLAN's back to switch 1 (if it's layer 3 capable), or through switch 1 to the router, making switch 1 the "distribution" switch and the router your "core".
Use a /30 for your intra-site link (no need for more - it's a point-to-point link - and use another /24 for Site 2.
Make sure your routers have clear routes configured to link all the subnets, and away you go. Separate VLAN's to reduce broadcast domains, nice little islands of PC's and printers, and logical separation.
If *all* your switches are Layer 3 capable, you could be more complex and setup each switch with SVI's for your connected devices, and then use another SVI (or no switchport option on your uplink port) to connect them - but that'd be messy, and you'd end up having a to put a routing table on all devices which you really don't need.
