[SOLVED] Loosing Wireless Connection

I am constantly loosing my wireless connection while I am trying to download something, usually I don't reach 60 MB and it's gone.
I am also loosing my connection while browsing the internet for 2-3 hours.
In both cases it reconnects after 2 minutes ,sometimes more.
I still have my IP address during these 2 minutes.
I tried different connection methods : wifi-menu, netctl, NetworkManager , manually with wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd(or dhclient) but they all lead to loosing my connection after a time.

first of all I stopped my NetworkManager.service and then :
sudo wpa_supplicant -Dnl80211 -iwlp2s0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf &
Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant

  • Officejet 6700 looses wireless connection to MAC

My 6700 keeps loosing it connection with my mac which is running 10.10.4 and the fault seems to have occurred at the time this ios update installed. I have had the mac just over a year and its all worked fine until the 10.10.4 update. I have tried re-booting the airport extreme, the mac, deleting the printer and re-installing none of which resolves the problem fully. If I re-boot the printer it will be found and I can print, but if the next job is more than 10 mins later the mac looses the printer again and will not find it. The same fault also seem present with my ipad retine display model running ios 8.4, again this has been working well for nearly two years. HELP please

Yes distance/signal strength maters greatly for wireless.
    Get one of these...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/MXP2802NU2C/
    A 10' USB extension cable...
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Micro%20Accessories/USB2AA120MF/
And place it high in the Den as close to the source as possible, or near openings where the source is more direct.

  • Color Laserjet Pro 100 (M175NW) looses wireless connection

    Hi,
the printer goes offline from the local wlan after working ok 12 to 24 hrs.
    symptoms:
    * wireless LED on the printer  blinking after waking the printer with the ok button
    * wireless status page: not connected
    * wireless status page: no wireless lans are found (minimum four others are active)
    * wireless status page: always 69-71 disconnects  (link quality is good, distance from router 5m)
    * wireless lan switched off-on from printer panel: wireless led stays off, no blinking
    my tests:
    * no difference with/without power save mode
    * no difference using router from TP-Link or Arcadyan
    * no difference using no/standard/long group key interval on the router
    * no difference using only ip4/all services on the printer
    * no difference enabling/disabling ip6 on the printer
    * no difference printing/not printing during 24 hrs
    * no difference using channel 1/7 on the wlan (no other networks on these channels)
    workaround:
printer off - on, everthing back to normal, but I am not happy with that
    My settings
    * printer firmware new: Version:20120806
    * static ip
    * wpa2-personal aes
    * windows vista all patches installed
    * current hp printer driver
    * wlan settings transferred via usb during standard install
    my guess:
buggy firmware or defective network card in the printer
Any ideas? Device is on warranty...

Printer does not maintain wireless connection.

  • [SOLVED] No wireless connection with linux-3.2.2-1

After upgrading to linux-3.2.2-1, my wireless connection stopped working. It "connects", but I can't get an IP address through dhcp. Assigning an IP manually doesn't do the trick, I can't even reach the router through ping.
Downgrading to 3.2.1-2 fixes the issue.
I suspect this may be a regression but I couldn't find any information or reports of other people having the same problem anywhere.
I should note that I can establish a working connection when running the new kernel by using an external USB wireless device, so this probably has to do with the modules/drivers of my network card (?).
This is the ouput of some commands when running the new kernel (wlan1 is the device mentioned avobe):

  • Macbook 2009 intermittently looses wireless connection, Macbook 2009 intermittently looses wireless connection

When I'm on the internet using the airport, I loose my connection all the time. The I don't loose the internet, it just like freezes and eventually it will come back and the action I have tried to get it to do, like go to another page or link etc. it will have done. I can still use the computer itself just not the internet. Crazy huh?
I have checked in troubleshooting and gone through the manual. I'm not finding an answer. I've checked with my Internet Service Provider, it's not them. Everyone else in my household is staying connected just fine. Is my airport card just going out and I'm out of luck until I replace it? I'm hoping maybe there is an upgrade or something that might help. If you have a suggestion please let me know.
    Thanks

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • [Solved] No wireless connection after reboot.

I installed through a wireless connection. I installed inside of VirtualBox, and I installed wireless_tools, wpa_supplicant, and wpa_actiond dialog. So I had wireless internet on the live cd, but not after the install. Is there some driver that I am missing? Is there some VirtualBox special feature I am missing?
lspci | grep -i net   =   intel corporation 82540em gigabit ethernet controller
I don't think I need to install any additional firmware for this driver.
iwconfig = enp0s3 no wireless extensions
                    lo no wireless extensions
I tried adding manually loading iwl3945 and iwl4965, one of which I think is my driver.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The fix was typing "systemctl enable dhcpcd".

  • [SOLVED] unstable wireless connection

    Hi,
Wireless connection has some troubles. I don't get connection drops or anything in everyting.log mentioning errors with wlan. I tried wicd, Networkmanager and netcfg - but alas - no better results in any of them. The problem is that when checking mail, upgrading packages, ... sometimes connection cannot be made. Most of the time, running the same program immediately a second time, won't give this error. Less error-tolerant programs just crash/quit with an error-message.
Errors are like (in Dutch, I tried an English translation after ***):
Herleiden van v3.lscache4.c.bigcache.googleapis.com... mislukt: Naam of dienst is niet bekend. *** Failed to resolve from ... Name or service unknown.
wget: kan host-adres '‘v3.lscache4.c.bigcache.googleapis.com’' niet herleiden *** Cannot resolve host-addres
I've on the same laptop Sabayon and Ubuntu running where those problems do not occur.

    Edit: solution: Disabling ipv6

The thing is, I cannot run it when it happens, because it is not a disconnection. It is more like small hickups. Fault-tolerant applications won't give an error. But using wget/curl might fail 1, 2 or three consecutive times, but can succeed flawlessly a 4th time. :-/

  • Loose wireless connection with security turned on

I am able to get a wireless connection when the wireless network has no security enabled. But when the security is turned on - using WEP or WPA (TKIP) - I can no longer get a connection. The error message says that the password is not correct (however it is).
Of note: I have another G4 (aluminum 1.33 GHz) running the same version of OS X that does not have a problem connecting with the security turned on.
I have the same problem at home or with other wireless networks that require passwords.
At home I have a linksys wireless router.
    Thanks!
    1 GHz PowerPC G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

i have a very similar situation to yours... my airport cannont get an IP address from any wireless network with security enabled. if it is completely open, it will lock in and get an IP address and everything is fine, but with ANY kind of security enabled, it wont get an IP and gives me the standard "169...." addresses. If i turn off security on a given base station, the machine will suddenly get an IP address, so I know this is a problem with the machine and not the router as other wifi devices connect to the router fine.
I've tried using standard WEP, WPA, and also MAC-address security and i get the same problem across all of them. Ive tried this with about 5 different routers, 3 linksys, 1 netgear and one dLink.

  • Loosing Wireless Connection

My MacBook Pro looses connection after 15-30minutes unless within 2-3ft. of my AirPort Express. My G-4 stays connected just fine. My son's less than one year old MacBook stays connected. My old, old HP (7+ years) stays connected. I have Comcast but I'm not sure of the "product". My network is high speed cable with an Ambit modem and AirPort Express. My MacBook Pro does hold a signal unless it is within 2-3 of the AirPort and this is true in other locations such as my work (not sure of the router since it's a public school building) and my friend's house (Belkin router). Here is a list of things I have done so far to try to remedy the situation:
    Per Apple Store Genius:
removed all wireless devices (phones, etc.) still no solution
    checked for hardware issues
    Per Apple Support:
    changed channels
    run utility and repair disks
uninstalled the operating system (wiped the hard drive clean) and reinstalled OS 10.5.6
    Tried myself:
    turned on Interference Robustness
All of this has has little impact/effect on holding the connection. Apple Support can no longer help. Apple Genius says they have done all they can or will do telling me it's interference. I bought my machine in 2006 and did not have this issue until Wed. 4/8/09. I am wondering why interference just on the newest Mac and why suddenly. Most importantly, how to solve?
    Can anyone advise?

First, if you are not referring to a unibody MacBook Pro, you should post in the following forum, as you will be able to receive better suggestions.
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1149
Second, can you try a different Internet connection in a different location? If it works there, the problem is not with your MacBook Pro.
    Good luck!

  • Two desktop computers - one constantly looses wireless connection

    Hi,
I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with Speedbooster (model WRT54GS) for use with a cable modem.  I have two Dell Desktops, both with Linksys Wireless-G PCI with SpeedBooster Cards.  One desktop works perfect with the network, the other constantly loses its connection. Signal strength on both are good, both computers are relatively new (the one with problems is ~ 1 yr old).    I either have to 'repair' the connection or reboot.  It will stay connected for various lengths of time (sometimes a minute, sometimes 10 minutes!).  If i click on the 'Wireless Network Connection' icon, it will often show 'Connected' to my network, but the button in the corner shows 'Connect' (shouldn't it say 'Disconnect?).
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

Surely, the router is working since one wireless pc is working already. You could focus more on the adapter. Since it has been a year already, you could try to update the driver of your nonworking adapter.

  • 4200v2 looses wireless connection after 24hrs

    Hello All
I upgraded my Linksys from 160n router to 4200V2 router.  I configured 3 wireless Linksys webcams and they work fine. After 24hrs they i cannnot connect the via HTTP and webcames IP addresses disapear from the DHCP client table.  If reboot the webcames the it works fine for next 24hrs.  I did not make any modification to any settings and the setting looks just like i had on the 160N router.  Any help/suggestions please??

You could have tried the following settings as well:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page). Here is the link for determining and setting up the correct MTU size: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the user name field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
    Then check the connectivity status…

  • Looses wireless connection all the time.

    Hi
I have a problem with my macbook pro, it looses its internet connection all the time. I don't know why since it's quite close to it's modem and other laptops that's more far away works fine. Any idea?

Does the router have the latest firmware? What happens when you are at a hotspot or a Starbucks?

  • Wireless connectivity issues with Macbook Pro and At&t service HELP!!!!!

I have three Computers two PC's and one Macbook Pro( the latest model). My desktop PC is used by ethernet, my girls laptop is used wirelessly and finally my MBP was being used wirelessly.
I started off with only the two PCs and my internet connection never had a problem and I was doing everything from: on the internet to downloading.
Before I bought my MBP I had also switched from internet and phone bundle to just internet from At&t service. So when I got my first MBP I notice that I was loosing wireless connection with both my girls pc laptop and my MBP so i thought it was because I had just switched service, though they send out a service technician and we came to a conclusion that it was the MBP. (I was loosing signal via wireless and ethernet). So we tried to see if both my girls laptop(wireless) and my PC desktop (ethernet) would run into the same issue which it did not.(MBP was turned off)
So I decided to go my nearest Apple store and let them know what was going on. So I told them what was going on and they said It must be the airport card, and they ended up changing it. When I get home I discover that not only I am having the same issue but other issues too. I went back they ran some diagnostic and they said it was defective and they gave me a new one few days later.
So in the mean time that I waited for my new one to arrive I used my PC desktop and my girl kept using her laptop and guess what no issue what so ever for one whole week. Now I receive my new MBP(they bumped the specs a little), went home set it up and still the same issue though I dont have the issue when Im using via ethernet. Just a view minutes ago I tried removing the ethernet and using the airport/wireless and within a few minutes I lost the signal.
    I have the gateway 2WIRE model(2701HG-B) modem/router.
Is there something wrong? what do I have to do to make this work?

Hi Guys, I bough my Mac almost two years ago. All this time I have experienced the same issue. There are tons of discussions re this issue in the internet. Unfortunately, Apple has done nothing to fix it. I have tried a lot of different options, but they work no longer then 1-2 days. The official fix - does not exist so far. It is quit strange, isn't? I can share my experience: if you go to AirPort Utility - Manual Setup - Wireless and then change Channel, it could help you till the moment you restart your computer; next time you need to repeat it again. It takes 2 minutes. Not sure that it would work for you but you could give it a try. Well, not the best option. Anyway Apple must fix it asap! Hello Apple, do you hear us? Good luck.

  • Why do I loose my wireless connection?

Can someone tell me why I loose my wireless connection from my laptop when I go to make a phone call with my phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your phone is probably on the 2.4Ghz frequency which is the same frequency wireless routers operate on. Try changing the channel on the router to one that is far enough away from the phone's frequency so they don't interfere with each other.
To change the channel on the router:
In Internet Explorer, type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar
On the login page that comes up, type admin for the username and password1 for the password (ignore the dots)
Click Change Wireless Settings under Quick Links in the My Router column of the front page.
Under option 3. Channel, select a number from 1 - 11 then click Apply at the bottom of the page.
Click Apply again to save the changes if it asks.
It is pretty much trial and error in determining which channel will be furthest from your phone's frequency, and you might even not find a channel that keeps your wireless connection up every time your on the phone. I had the same problem with my own cordless phone and a linksys router that I ended up having to purchase a new phone in the 5.8Ghz range to keep my connection. With that said, I hope you have better luck then me with this situation.
